The document summarizes maintenance work done on a debris filter from January 19-20, 2012. The debris filter was dismantled due to high pressure drop and debris not being removed. worn seals and sheared coupling disc bolts were found and replaced. The overhauled debris filter was then tested for 15 minutes and found to be in good working condition. Spare parts used during the maintenance are listed.

Design Considerations for Antisurge Valve SizingVijay Sarathy
Centrifugal Compressors experience a phenomenon called “Surge” which can be defined as a situation where a flow reversal from the discharge side back into the compressor casing causing mechanical damage.
The reasons are multitude ranging from driver failure, power failure, upset process conditions, start up, shutdown, failure of anti-surge mechanisms, check valve failure to operator error to name a few. The consequences of surge are more mechanical in nature whereby ball bearings, seals, thrust bearing, collar shafts, impellers wear out and sometimes depending on the how powerful are the surge forces, cause fractures to the machinery parts due to excessive vibrations.
The following tutorial explains how to size an anti-surge valve for a single stage VSD system for Concept/Basic Engineering purposes.
Assembly and Disassembly Procedure of Screw type Compressor Shah Jalal
The Procedure will be very much helpful for complete overhauling of Screw type Compressor .The Maintenance Procedure is for Fuel Gas Compressor(KOBELCO) of 450 MW Meghnaghat Power Plant.

Haripur Combined Cycle Power Plant have two cooling water pump (CWP-A/B) each 50% capacity. According to schedule maintenance plan each pump is overhauled after 16,000 running hours.
The pump suction is from river water to discharge to water boxes of steam condenser. It’s a vertical shaft, 1350 discharge bore mixed flow pump. It’s driven by an 1100 KW vertically mounted motor with a rated full load rpm of 494. Rated flow rate of the pump is 18, 600 m3/hr.
Before the overhauling CWP-A, NDE side vibration of motor as being monitored was too high for its sound performance. Vertical vibration data at NDE was measured as high as 6.3 mm/sec which was way alarming.
Suspected regions were out-clearances of bearings and wear-rings. O & M came to a decision for complete overhauling of the pump which started on November 27, 2011 and was completed on December 01, 2011.

I have attached this report where we find out the actual reason steam turbine Deaerating Condenser Performance degradation which was written on June 06, 2012.That time I was in Haripur Power Limited (HPL) ,A 360 MW CCPP of Pendekar Energy Bangladesh Ltd.
The report outcome showed that the Steam turbine load could be reached to its maximum capacity after those valve maintenance works on the next Steam Turbine Major inspection on 2013.We hope we can increase our steam turbine load to 5-7 MW/D on that time.
The operational guys were indicating Circulating water pumps (CWP A&B) were not performing to its design capacity & Ejectors/vacuum pumps are not performing well. So,Mechanical Maintenance Team (MMT) team find this successful outcome after several study.
Condenser vacuum condition has improved a lot after maintenance of the valves on last Major Inspection on 2013.
It is a sample report where we can realize that identifying actual reason for an equipment performance is not only a job of operational people but also a responsibility of the maintenance guys.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

EQUIPMENT NO: AC-M-SR-001
EQUIPMENT NAME: DEBRIS FILTER
INTRODUCTION
Debris filter is used to protect heat exchanger tubes from cooling water
fragments. The debris filter is designed to automatically separate & remove
debris from cooling water during operation of the cooling system.
PROBLEM:
Debris filter D.P was high & debris was not coming from debris outlet nozzle.
DISMANTLING
DISMANTLING PROCEDURE
I.
II.
During the outage period the following works were carried out in debris filter:Debris filter manhole was opened. It was seen that the main shaft with injection
(spraying) arm were rotating (CW outlet side of the screen basket) but the collecting
arm was not rotating (CW inlet side of the screen basket).
The collecting arm & outlet pipes were dismantled.

ASSEMBLING PROCEDURE
The new M-16 bolts of drive shaft were quite a bit long so it was machined in
M/S Meghnaghat Power Plant work shop.
New seals were installed in drive shaft sealing disc & sealing disc cover
respectively.
The new outlet bearing was installed by hydraulic press in the MPL
workshop. After matching with the outlet pipe 01 mm clearance was found.

5. January 19~20, 2012
The drive shaft with Injection arm, sealing disc were installed with new
gasket. The gap between the arm & basket was found 4 to 6 m. m. Some
portion of spraying water was leaking through the injection arm front side. It
was welded properly as well as some machining was done in the injection arm
flange to ease the installing procedure.
The gearbox with motor was then coupled with the drive shaft.
