This document provides an overview and summary of a project to revamp Main Street in Bray, County Wicklow. The project will involve installing new footpaths, a cycle lane, drainage, lighting, and removing car parking. It is funded by the National Transport Authority for €1.1 million and will take place over 7 months beginning in March. The project aims to make Main Street more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists while reducing traffic speeds. • Last revamp was in 1992 – Existing brick work,
cables installed underground, Lighting
standards changed
• In 2009 a Part 8 planning process was granted
for a Quality Bus Network/Corridor Scheme
• 39 Submissions received – plenty of
interesting views
• Cost was estimated at 5m

• Delivery was cancelled due to a change in
focus from the NTA where higher priority was
given to pedestrian and cyclists
• Core street scape design elements similar to
scheme

• Sign contract for works 19th March
• Start as soon as possible after contract
signed
• Works duration 7 months
• Looking for funding to extend scheme to
complete Town Centre Area in 2014

• Contract works costs €723,000* plus VAT
• Cost of granite for works €146,000 plus VAT
• Total Cost of €1.1m
• NTA funding in 2013 for County Wicklow €3.5
• Largest NTA funded scheme in the county
* Fixed price for day time works, no funding for over runs
