The document provides details for planning a photo shoot and magazine cover design. A medium longshot will be used to capture the model in full costume holding a bass guitar. The shoot will take place in a photo studio with studio lighting. The cover photo and interior photos from live music events will promote a rock music theme. The magazine will be called "Transmission", focus on the rock genre, publish monthly for £3.99, and target readers aged 15-20 in Yorkshire interested in rock music brands. A dummy front page layout in two columns on the left and three columns on the right is presented.

2. Medium Longshot used for the cover in order
to incorporate the props and full costume of
the model. It will be a high angle shot. Shot in
a photo studio.
The costume will consist of black jeans and a
leather jacket to match the ‘rock’ theme of the
magazine.
The photo will be shot in a studio for easier
editing and for a simple background for the
front cover.
The props will be a bass guitar.
Equipment: Digital camera with transferrable
memory card. Studio lights.
3. Photos that will be used within the
content of my magazine will be live show
photographs I have previously taken at
shows. As the double page spread will
contain a review and article about one
show in particular.
Any other shots that may be used will be
other shots taken of my front page model
as part of contents in the feature.
4. Title ideas:
Illicit Rock- Attracts the young audience with the idea of
forbidden and then the music genre is explicit.
Transmission- As it relates to radio and therefore music
whilst having a cultured flair.
Bedrock- Playing on the word for foundations which
suggests that the magazine is the basis for good music and
explicitly has the genre of music in the name.
5. The Genre:
From the results for my survey, Rock was the genre most
popular, and therefore will be the genre that my magazine
is based on. I will use magazines such as Rocksound and
Kerrang! For inspiration.
6. The Pricing and Publication Pattern:
My survey’s results showed that monthly magazines are
preferred, therefore this will be the publication pattern for
my magazine.
Looking at the prices of other monthly rock
magazines, they are roughly between £4.00 and
£5.00. I noticed that the newer magazines where
around the £4.00 mark and therefore as my
magazine would be new it will be priced at £3.99 also
in order to stick to the prices of the market.
7. The Reader Profile:
Using my survey and focus group, I am able to get a generalised reader survey
for my magazine.
Age: 15-20
Lives: Around Yorkshire and the Humber
Preferred Brands:
8. Colour Scheme:
Following my experience for fonts from similar
magazines, the font and colour scheme will be gender
neutral however fit the theme and genre of the
magazine.
