3. Kerrang is a music
magazine focussing on
new age metal and
pop-punk artists. It has
features on bands and
albums including
band/artist interviews,
album reviews, concert
reviews and dates and
many other aspects of
the music industry that
the audience would
be interested in. The
magazine mainly
focus’ on teenagers
and young adults
aging between 16 – 25.
4. Kerrang! Is published
by weekly Bauer The magazine costs
Media Group. Who £2.20
also publish other
music magazines such
as Mojo and Q.

Readers are able to buy the magazine
from local shops, supermarkets,
WHSmiths and some music stores such
as HMV.
5. The masthead of the magazine has
been designed to go with the style of
the magazine and the audience who
would read it.
The cover models are in a pose that
represents the type of image they
want to get across to the
audience, which is linked through in
the cover line.
There are tag lines, letting the
audience know about other articles in
the magazine.
The cover also has the barcode and
price on, following the conventions of
a magazine.
The magazine also has a strapline at
the top, giving more information
about articles within the
magazine, following conventions of
many other magazines.
6. The contents page has followed the
conventions as it has “contents” at he
top a long with the issue number and
date. It has one main image, with
page numbers to lead the reader to
the articles the pictures relate to. It
has an organised colour scheme and
has a white background where the
text is placed. The text and pictures
are organised into columns and into
sections such as “news” and “gig
guide”.
7. The double page
spread has a title
that fits to the theme
of the article. It has a
drop capital like all
other articles. There is
a quote from within
the article which
stands out against all
the other text. There
is a main image that
represents the artists
in a way that relates
to the article. There is
a subheading giving
you a brief overview
of what the article is
about.
8. I intend to go with the decayed
theme that appears amongst
most of the articles within the
magazine as I believe this goes
along with the theme of the
magazine I intend to make.

10. NME is a music
magazine which
focus’ on indie music
and some rock. It is
aimed at men aged
between 18 and 30. It
contains articles such
as interviews with
bands/artists, album
reviews, gig reviews
and concert dates.

NME is published weekly edited by Mike
by IPC Media who Williams
publish other music
magazines such as
Uncut.
NME costs £2.20 and is
distributed in newsagents,
music stores such as HMV and
other stores such as WHSmiths.

magazine covers as it has a
masthead at the top. It has a
coverline giving the audience an
idea of the main article. It has
taglines giving the audience an
idea about other articles which will
be featured within the magazine.
And it has a colour scheme of no
more than 5 colours. The magazine
also has a strapline at the top
helping to frame the main image
and adding more taglines.
13. The contents page follows the
conventions as it has the date at the
top. It has the text separated into
columns and into different sections
such as “reviews” and “news”.
It also has a main image, relating to
the main article. It has a small
section of an article within the
contents page allowing the reader
to get a quick look at what the
article will be talking about.
And it has a colour scheme of no
more than 5 colours.

follows conventions as it has a
main image relating to the
article. It also has smaller
images that tie in with the
article as well. It has a drop
capital at the beginning of the
article and the text is arranged
into columns. It has quotes from
within the article which stand
out against the rest in order to
draw the readers attention and
give them an idea what the
article is about. It has a
subheading and a colour
scheme of no more than 5
colours.
15. I intend to use a similar sort of colour
scheme as NME (black, white, reds)
