media brands which include 2/3 of         market women and upmarket women.

Some (for example NME and Marie
Claire) are mass market as they
appeal to a wider audience whereas
magazines like Volks World is a very
niche market that only capture the
attention of a certain group of people.
Emap
Emap (East Midland Allied Press) is a        Itโ€™s a private company which was
British media company which                                 established in 1947.
specialises in business to business
magazines.                              It has a few convergences like a radio
                                                           station and events.

They produce magazines like
โ€˜โ€™, โ€˜Smash Hitsโ€™ and โ€˜SPORTโ€™.


Their magazines seem to be targeted
at a niche market. This is because
they are not well known magazines
and they are only to a specific
audience.
BAUER
BAUER produce magazines for
mostly mass market women. They
have reality and puzzle magazines
which usually appeal to a wide
audience.
They produce magazines like
โ€˜Bellaโ€™, โ€˜Take a breakโ€™, โ€˜TV choiceโ€™ and
โ€˜criss crossโ€™

Having been established for 136
years they are one of Europeโ€™s
leading media companies.

Producing 46 magazines in
Germany, shows that they are
probably bigger in countries other
than the UK.
Ownership of my magazine

The ideas I have for my magazine would need to have a wide audience to
    sell to. This means that I would need a institution like IPC Media to
 produce my magazine as it would appeal to the mass market. Having a
 institution like IPC to produce my magazine would mean I could have a
 big audience to sell to, meaning that I could potentially sell more copies
                    and get my message across quicker.
