Digital Soundboy Front cover
Analysis
I chose to give the
masthead a simple two
colour scheme (red &
white). I chose these
colours because they are
simplistic and stand out
heavily on the black and
white front cover image. I
chose to place the
masthead at the top of
the magazine as this is
the most commonly used
place in regards to other
major magazine such as
kerrang, mixmag etc.
I made it relatively obvious
that the main headline is ‘dj
hype & dj hazard’ I made the
font larger and also set it out
just below the masthead, away
from the other captions. I
chose to have the text yellow
due to it standing out more. I
originally used white text for
this but due to the back image
being black and white it was
understandably hard to see.
I researched costs of
other magazines with a
similar target audience
to mine and the average
price was around £2.50-
£3.50, I chose to price
mine at £2.50 for first
release promotional
reasons.
For my front cover image
I chose to use an image I
took myself of the college
mixer. I used a good
depth of field on this
image as you can see and
all I did was simply turn
the image black and
white to give out this
final outcome which I
think works relatively
well for my target
audience
