Joe Hayes took photos for his music magazine focused on the drum and bass genre. The majority of his images were music-based, as shown on his contact sheet. His target audience was predominantly males and females ages 18+ interested in drum and bass. He edited three photos - the first in black and white for an "old school" look targeting DJs ages 18-25, the second playing with color and contrast for a yellowy style, and the third with a green color. For his next project, he plans to take more photos to have a better selection, try different camera techniques beyond just depth of field, and diversify his subject matter.

2. Aim of shoot
My photos are for my music magazine. The
majority of my images are music based as you
can see from the contact sheet. My target
audience would predominantly be for male +
females 18+ into the Drum & Bass genre. I am
aiming to show a range of musical instruments
and images throughout my magazine and I have
fulfilled that task.

5. This is my first edited
picture, I have used a good
depth of field and also
turned the image black
and white for a more ‘old
school’ look. The purpose
of the photograph is for a
magazine. My target
audience is for dj’s
predominantly 18-25.

played around with
the colour and
contrast settings to
produce a yellowy
style image. The
purpose of this image
is for my music
magazine and doesn’t
carry a specific target
audience

again wanted a
colourful look and
thought this colour
green suited it well.
This, like the others will
be used for my
magazine and the
target audience will
most likely be that of
the magazine itself
(male & female 18+)

8. Aims for next project
After completing my first photo shoot I have
learnt a few things. Firstly and most importantly
I should try to collect more images on my next
shoo, this will give me a better range of choice
etc. Also I should try using different camera
techniques rather than just depth of field, macro
etc. I should also learn to differ my images and
not just take pictures of the same sort of things.
