Key Responsibilities (as Shift In Charge Engineer):
Followings are the key responsibilities but not limited to this:
1) Operation: Ensure smooth and safe Operation of the HFO plant: (6*8.9 MW Wartsila
diesel generator, lube oil and Furnace oil separator, Valves, Pumps, Motors, Compressors,
auxiliary boilers, Exhaust gas boiler, Water treatment unit, sludge treatment unit, 11/132KV
70 MVA Substation, electrical panel board, switchgears, ACBs, SF6, VCBs, Protection &
Grounding systems and PLC and instrumentation system.
Follow Standard operating procedure (SOP) for start, stop and Stand-by checking of the plant
equipment.
Train and assign task to shift engineers, operators, technicians, helpers for successful shift
operation.
Analyze, monitor and control all running equipment parameters found on SCADA and
visually by following prudent operating practice.
Do the troubleshooting.
2) Safety: Ensure safe and clean working environment. Strictly follow LOTO procedure.
Give work permit and isolate the system for working. After work cleaning and housekeeping
of the work area.

Attend and arrange regular fire drill and first aid program. Participate in accident prevention
and work in team in any abnormal issue. Shift In Charge engineer is always chief emergency
in charge of the plant.
3) Scheduled work: Carry out weekly and monthly operation test like checking cylinder
tightness, fire system and water pumps condition , take differential pressure of all engine`s
filter, take all the switchgear room panels, batteries current and voltage rating and also check
there condition etc.
4) Documentation: Keeping total record of plant operation, maintenance. Also maintain
daily log sheet, metering data. Regularly update of the pressure, temperature, level and other
parameters in document. Prepare daily and monthly report. Prepare incident report if
happened and Carry out fault finding and take remedial measures.
5) Bunkering: FUEL loading and unloading in Wagon and Tank Lorries. Hire lorry,
communicate with railway and also maintain all the calculation, documentation and checklist
related to fuel unloading issue.
6) Chemical Test: Send Lube oil, HFO, sludge feed water, boiler water, treated water
sample to testing parties and analyze quality of this items accordingly.
7) Meeting: Attend on regular weekly and monthly meeting.
8) Maintenance: Perform all plant running time maintenance such as greasing, T/C washing,
filling and draining oil in engine, cooling water, chemical dosing, emptying sludge tanks,
transferring oil, soot blow, blowdown, gauge glass cleaning etc.
Make machineries ready for maintenance. Plan and scheduling preventive maintenance with
maintenance department.
9) Increased plant availability by finding out and removing the causes of frequently trips.
10) Regularly forecasting capacity, monitoring generation. Monitoring Load dispatching
system & maintain coordination with LDC, PGCB, PDB.
11) Working in rotational shift, handover information and charge to other shift in charges.
Attend on job training accordingly.
Key Achievement: Successfully done plant reliability test and Commercial operation test.
Experience as EHS engineer:
Being EHS engineer is my additional responsibility. Following are the short description of
activities accomplished by me:
1. Prepare Quality objective of the plant and implement accordingly.
2. Follow up continual improvement of all the activities related to quality, health
safety and environment.
3. Direct fire drills, discuss and train people for effective emergency response.
4. Make emergency response plan of the power plant.
5. Arrange meeting and prepare meeting minutes.
6. Check and update the entire licenses as per the legal requirement. Such as boiler
license, environmental clearance license, petroleum handling license etc.
