1. INTRODUCTION
As a part of curriculum and SiemensScholarship Program and
for the partial fulfillmentof B. Tech degreefrom NIT Silchar, I,
Satyam Peeyushunderwentan industrial Summer Trainingat
SRE of Siemens Ltd. 6A-Gurgaon for 8 weeksin the duration of
May-June2016.
Siemens Ltd. 6A-Gurgaon islocated in Gurgaon near New Delhi,
is a vast industry withwideverity of disciplines. The primary
disciplinesare EMDG, Mobility, EMTS, GSIT, SEM, SPG and SRE.
SRE wasthe departmentin which I was placed for training.
This departmentis concern with Siemens Properties.
As the HVAC revamp projectis going on at this location I was
assigned to go through the project workingprocedureand the
other technical aspects of HVAC.
Under the guidanceof Mr. Amit Garg RC-IN SRE and Mr. Vivek
DwivediRC-IN SRE, I got the opportunity to haveexposureto
the work carried out in the departmentand in the project of
HVAC and hence I learnt a good deal from them. Duringthe
period of two months of industrialtraining, the work primarily
assigned wereconcern with finite analysisand allied topics. A
brief discussion of the assignment given and training
undergoneduringtheperiod follows.
2. Assignmentcompleted duringthe period
Below is the list of primary tasksassigned and completed
duringthe period of training. Brief discussion of each
assignment willfollow under the remainingsub-sections.
2.1. Study of tender and technical details of HVAC project
2.1.1. Study of the Chillers going to install in the system
2.1.2. Study of the compressor going to install in the
system
2.1.3. Study of the design of the whole cooling system
2.2. Room category tracking of north zone
2.2.1. Study of the room category guidelines provided by
Siemens
2.2.2. Handy application of AutoCAD
2.3. Vacancy Analysis
2.3.1. Study of requirement of vacancy analysis
2.3.2. Handy use of data handling
2.1 Study of tender and technical details of HVAC project
The HVAC revamp projectis totally related to the installation of
new chillers to enhance the cooling of the buildingand the
overcomethe currentstruggle from the cooling and air-
conditioningrelated problemsas the old system was not
workingproperly so the new system of chillers needed to
install which consist of two water cooled chillers of capacity
300tr and oneproperly functioning200tr air cooled chiller
from existing system will be taken in account. Asper the
buildingrequirementtotal of 500tr coolingis required so one
300tr willbe standby and for backup system.
2.1.1. The new chillers are water cooled helical screw chillers and
they were factory assembled includingall interconnections
completed and complete wiringof micro-controlcomputer
system. The chillers will be constant speed drive(CSD) and
their performancewillbe certified in accordanceof ARI
Standard 550-92.
2.1.2. Normally there are four typesof compressorsbut as the
chillers are going to install on the top of the tower so we need
the compressor with least vibration with least compromise
with efficiency so weconsidered the hermetic / semi hermetic
or helical screw typecompressors
2.1.3. Design of the cooling system wasprepared by the consultants
so the detailed study of the design is required to have the total
idea the required civil structureto withstand the cooling
system includingthe chillers, cooling towers, pumpsand other
accessories required for proper functioningof the system.
2.2. Room category tracking of north zone
It was the total analysisof the details of the propertiesof
Siemens in North Zone, which consist of 3 in Gurgaon, 1 in each
Delhi, Noida, Lucknow, Jaipur, Chandighar. In this analysis the
whole property can categories in the prescribed category of the
space in the accordingto the provided guidelines. This analysis
was to unify the all propertiesof Siemens in all location so that
we can have an easy track on the property accordingto there
utility.
2.2.1. Study of the guidelinefor the room category tracker to have the
idea of the all-21 category provided by Siemensand their
division and also to judge the given space into the particular
category according to its utility and application.
2.2.2. Use of pre-learned AutoCAD toolto analyzethe area of each
property and then dividethem into differentcategory
according to their application by satisfying the conditions
provided in the guidebook.
2.3 Vacancy Analysis
It was the analysis of the occupancy of the office duringa
particular week of May to analyzethat how work stations are
occupied duringthe workinghour of the office.
