This document provides instructions for a photography assignment to practice white balance settings on a digital SLR camera. Students are directed to shoot photos both indoors and outdoors under different lighting conditions, taking two shots for each condition - one with automatic white balance and one with a selected white balance setting. They then submit their photos for grading.

1. Level 2 Proficiency: White Balance
Are your whites “white” enough in your shots? If not, perhaps the AWB or automatic white balance is
simply not doing the job. I want you to experiment with the different types of white balancing features on the
digital SLR.
Step 1: Review with teacher before you shoot

Step 2: Shooting
• Set your camera to “P”
• Set ISO for 100 outside and 200 or 400 indoor
• Shoot 2 shots for EACH---one with AWB (auto white balance) and again on setting
