1. Media II, III Photograph: Photographing an Event
The goals of this proficiency are as follows:
1. Analyze an event to determine what to shoot, where to stand, and how to not disrupt the event.
2. Take photographs that can be used in the media publications (yearbook and news magazine).
3. Take “quality photos” that are correctly exposed, display good composition techniques and are in focus.
4. Reflect on your performance and determine what you’d do differently.
Step 1: PowerPoint and Teacher Introduction
Review the PowerPoint on “How to Photograph an Event Shoot”
Meet with teacher for instruction of this proficiency and group assignments
Step 2: Shooting
Check your camera settings before shooting. (ISO, WB, Shutter Speed, Aperture, and Flash)
Is it a sporting event? Do you need a zoom? Should it be on Auto Focus (AF)?
Take 30 - 50 photos rotating between portrait and landscape
Upload the photos and choose your best 20-25 photos
Optional: edit for lighting and crop if necessary
Batch rename
Step 3: Grading –batch rename and conference for a grade
Conference with your teacher to save and grade your proficiency.
Submit reflection and best photo in online focus for this month.
