The paper presents a hybrid key management scheme designed to detect and minimize the impact of malicious nodes in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) while reducing routing overhead caused by existing intrusion detection systems. It emphasizes the vulnerabilities of MANETs to both internal and external attacks and discusses various acknowledgment schemes that contribute to packet drop issues. By adopting a combination of asymmetric and symmetric encryption, the proposed method aims to enhance security and improve the overall performance of the network.
