Materials
•25 percent of aggregate
used was recycled.
•Transport 50 percent of
materials (by weight) to the
site by sustainable means i.e.
water or rail.
•It used 75% less steel than
the Beijing National stadium.
Transportation
• Venues were designed and managed to ensure
that adequate provision was made for public
transport, walking and cycling and to maximise
the accessibility of the venue by non-car modes.
• Approx 86 percent spectators travelled to the
Olympic Park by rail.
There was a 30 percent reduction in carbon
emissions compared to a ‘no plan’ scenario.
More than 100 new or improved walking and cycling
routes delivered.

The residential units for athletes
during the Games. After the Games, the
Village transformed into a mixed tenure
