Picasso s Family Of Saltimbanques
Suggestive of a covert portrait of Picasso and his group, the poverty and isolation in Family of
Saltimbanques (La Famille de Saltimbanques) is clearly evident. Picasso frequented the Cirque
MГ©drano in Montmartre and greatly admired the performers. For Picasso, the wandering
saltimbanques (a kind of circus performer) represented the neglected lower class, whom he must
have identified with as an avant garde artist. Picasso and the saltimbanques had to work hard and
strove for recognition in spite of being outsiders, practicing their trades their entire lives. Fully
integrating himself in his work, the setting is reminiscent of Picasso s homeland, Spain. The
desolate landscape background, empty except for the figures, serves as a stark reminder

Functionalism, Conflict Theory, And Symbolic Interactionism
Global poverty is one of the biggest epidemics that many countries face today. In this paper I will
first explain functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Secondly, I will explain
the different causes of global poverty. Thirdly, I will collect my own data to explain poverty in one
country. Finally, I will identify the idea of ethnocentric and culturally relative.
First and foremost, there are three types of theories that can be applied to global poverty which are
functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. To start off with functionalism is when
a society comes together and works as a whole. Next, we have conflict theory where some theorist
says it happens when a society competes with one another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Next, another example is when our country help a low poverty that have a great outcome of
resources we tell them what to give us in return and how much to give it to us for. That causes a
substantial deal of conflict because we are taking their resources that they need to make money
for their country in order to survive. Finally, some places like South Africa had a system in
which you weren t able to move up to a higher position in which you are only able to obtain the
position in which you are born into. South Africa s system was called a caste system, it is no
longer illegal, however; it is still enforced daily. When this caste system was a law, then people of
lower status were not able to interact with those who were deemed higher than them, and there
were some instances when they were not allowed outside at the same time they were. If your
shadows had crossed or if you had accidentally had touched them, then they were considered
unclean. This would fit under functionalism because they all worked together to keep this system in
place.
In addition, poverty in Kenya is a humongous epidemic, however; most of the poverty that is
seen there is more in the rural area. Most of the work that is available for people in Kenya are
farming and agriculture so when there is a disaster that ruins crops they no longer have a job. Even
though they are a poor country the children are still

Parallelism And The Femme Fatale
Film noir, though difficult to formally define, is a type of film whose elements of style,
narrative, and overall tone are most easily characterized by darkness both literal and
metaphorical. This style first appeared and had its heyday within American Cinema during the
forties and fifties. The term itself was first coined by French critics when, as Paul Schrader
described, noticed the new mood of cynicism, pessimism, and, darkness that had crept into the
American cinema (Schrader, 265). Indeed, films like Billy Wilder s Double Indemnity (1944) and
Joseph H. Lewis Gun Crazy (1950) explored themes of fatalism and nihilism (among others), all
the while making use of stylistic expressionist inspired lighting, stylized framing, use of shadows to
enhance them. As dark as these films could be, almost laughably so when viewed by audiences
today, they were meant to communicate the very real societal anxiety and disillusionment of a post
World War Two America. One manifestation of these fears is through the creation of the femme
fataleor fatal woman. According to Jack Boozer, they are meant to appear beautiful but also
treacherous, criminally depraved and castrating in their desires (Boozer, 21). The femme fatale
did not first appear in noir, in fact she even appeared as far back as the biblical figure Salome,
however forties Hollywood defined the character (Barnes Smith, 3). Gary Harris, as quoted in Fatal
Woman, Revisited: Understanding Female Stereotypes in Film Noir,

Matter can take on different changes physically and chemically, for an example of a physical
change is when water freezes into ice, there is no chemical change to the water but a physical
change the ice is just water molecules made of hydrogen and oxygen packed tightly together. But,
another physical change would be bending iron metal, the iron is still the same chemically whether
it is made into I beams, or pressed into shapes to make the body of a car; the shape may change but
it never changes chemically. In addition, a chemical change is the results in one or more substances
that make up an entirely different composition from the original substances. The compounds and
/ or elements at the start of the chemical reactionare rearranged into a new product of compounds
or elements. Also a chemical reaction alters the composition of the original matter, different
elements or compounds are present at the end of the chemical change. Although an example of a
chemical reaction is the process of rusting, you start with Iron mixed with air and water you get a
different compound. Along with chemical changes the Law of Conservation of Mass plays a part
in it too. The Law of Conservation of Mass (or Matter)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The molecule formula is the actual number of atoms in that molecule. The molecular formula tells
you the number of atoms of each element that is present in the chemical reaction. Also, the
molecular formula is an expression of the number and type of atoms that are present in a single
molecule of a substance. Also, the empirical formula tells you what people have observed and is
also the ratio of the elements in a molecular formula. Furthermore if you can divide all the number
in a molecular formula by the some value to simplify them, then the empirical or simple formula
will be different from the molecular formula. In some chemical formulas you deal with Alkaline

Exclusionary Rule Essay
The genesis of the Exclusionary Rule can be traced in early 1900s. It was established to ensure
that law enforcement officers followed the law in collecting incriminating evidence. The
Exclusionary Rule was designed by the Supreme Court making it a court made rule. The rule is not
like other normal rules that are created by statutes passed by the legislative bodies. The essay will
outline how the Exclusionary Rulewas developed highlighting the various cases that proved pivotal
in its implementation. The essay will also outline the various limitations to the rule as well as the
general applicability of the rule in today s courts (Calabresi, 2003).
Before the development of the Exclusionary Rule, courts relied on every evidence presented by the
state in criminal cases. Admissibility of the evidence was dependent on its relevance irrespective of
the manner in which the evidence was collected. In 1914, the Supreme Court demanded that law
enforcement agencies must conform to the Fourth Amendment. In Weeks v. United Statesthe
Supreme Court ruled that evidence presented by the state was inadmissible. The basis of their
decision was based on the fact that evidence collected from Weeks was secured through a
warrantless search. The ruling discrediting the evidence meant that the defendant was freed and ...

The police forcefully searched the house and found incriminating evidence that was later used to
convict her (Kamisar, 2003). However, the Supreme Court overturned the Ohio Supreme Court
decision arguing that police officer employed unreasonable search and seizure to gather the
incriminating evidence. Fruit of the poisonous tree is a phrase used to refer to evidence stemming
from within the scope of the Exclusionary Rule. The argument is that any evidence that would not
have been located had the law enforcers not violated the constitution should be disregarded in

Statistical Thinking in Healthcare

The prescription filling process of the health maintenance organization (HMO) consists of the
doctor sending the prescription to the pharmacy via paper with the patient, paper to the nurse who
calls in the prescription with instructions, or faxing the prescription to the pharmacy. From there,
the personnel at the pharmacy fill the prescription by inputting the information given to them into
their computer in order to print the instructions and medication labels for the prescriptions. They
then pull the requested medications per the instructions, fill the necessary containers to give to the
patients, and label ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Handwriting has always been, and will remain, a problem in medicine. A 1979 study showed that it
was difficult to interpret about half of all physicians handwritten orders. Little has changed since
then, (In the long run, penmanship classes for doctors won t do much for patient safety, 2001).
This has been an ongoing problem since inception. Therefore, the beginning of the process should
be changed in this day and age of technology to have prescriptions entered into computers and
handheld devices by the doctor, to ensure accuracy of the medication that is needed to be filled,
and electronically sent to the pharmacy. Having a nurse call in prescriptions is a non value added
activity that can be eliminated. This may be expensive at the start to implement, but in the long
term, it will save both organizations time, help reduce errors, and add value to the level of service
the organization gives. With this change, label errors should also be reduced as well, ensuring the
patient receives the correct medicine and dosage.
After implementing the technological advancements, the pharmacy will be required to keep a log
of all medications brought back or called saying that they are the wrong medicine. These logs will
be collected monthly to measure the amount of prescriptions filled wrong to determine if the
changes are working.

Renewable Resources For Solar Energy
Solar Energy is something that the entire world relies on every day. Without energy, the earth
would be dark, and nothing will be able to operate. Lately, there has been many concerns with
the various types of resources that are used to generate energy. Many resources that are used are
non renewable resource. This means that the resources such as oil and coal are not grown or
produced, they are found in regions in specific sections of the world. These resources are also
recognized as fossil fuels. Researchers have been working for numerous years to find new ways to
generate energy without using these resources that cause issues for the environment. By using
renewable sources such as the sun, new ways to create energy have developed. Solar energyis
energy that is created by the sunshine. This sort of energy that derives from the sun can create
electricity in households. With new emerging technology, solar energy can perform different types
of energy for diverse uses such as heating water or generate electricity for a home. This alternative
energy that goes beyond fossil fuels can be extremely beneficial for the environment; However,
there might be some downfalls for a consumer if they needed to use solar energy to provide
electricity.
The sun has been playing a very significant role for earth and humans. It has been the producer of
light and without it several things would not exist. Now another part that the sun is playing in
humanity is being a generator of energy. The

Comparing Hospital Volunteering And Job Shadowing
Most people avoid hospitals at all costs, but I enjoy hospitals and find inspiration in what they
accomplish on a daily basis. People commonly associate hospitals with negative experiences and
disregard the number of miracles that occur there. Every day, doctors and nurses work hard to
save lives, improve lives, and bring new lives into the world. Volunteering and job shadowing at
two hospitals has given me a glimpse at just how hard these professionals work to improve the
lives of complete strangers.
Everywhere you turn, there is a patient with a unique medical story, and they are all connected
through a common purpose. Looking at the many rooms lining the hospital hallways strikes up my
curiosity of every patient who ever laid in the

Vladimir Putin, The Most Hated Man Of His Time
Vladimir Putin, who is the president of Russia, the man that is held responsible for tearing
Ukraine apart into a battlefield. The eastern region of Ukraine withheld a city (Crimea), which
became the headlines of all western and global war for its significant role in the Ukrainian Russian
Conflict. This was due to the city that was being fought over by the two countries. As Russias
president, Vladimir Putinwas bashed by the world for being the new modern Hitler; which Hilary
Clinton had compared Putin s strategical methods on this crisis to. She compared it to the
similar Nazi s of 1930; which she had said in her speech at the University of California.
Although, no one can really understand why Vladimir Putin was the most hated man of his
time. Later it became evident that it was because of the propaganda that was created by the
western media and news. We must really think the fundamentals as to why Putin really entered
Crimea, and who really is behind the new regime that has settled in Ukraine as well as which
part of the world is standing behind Ukraine. Former President Viktor Yankovich made a phone
call to Vladimir Putin seeking help. He had called while he was in hiding fleeing to Russia right
after that conversation, around a two years ago shortly after over a 100 people were killed in a 48
hour protest. He fled his own country for his own safety. The fact that he fled as president to a
neighboring countryRussia, shows just what type of situation this man was left

Pay It Forward Movie Analysis
A great movie captures the audience by creating a realistic depiction of the life and development
of dynamic characters. One magical moment in Pay it Forward, occurs when Mr. Simonet and
Arlene kiss for the first time a distraught mother at rock bottom with alcohol and work, and her
son s astute social studies teacher, turned lovers. Scandalous! The movie Pay it Forward was
directed by Mimi Leder, and produced by Warner Brothers Studio in 2000. Pay it Forward has been
rated two out of five stars by Rotten Tomatoes, and three and a half out of five stars by IMDb. It
tells the story of an eleven year old boy, Trevor McKinney (Haley Joel Osment) doing a social
studies project for his teacher, Mr. Eugene Simonet (Kevin Spacey) the... Show more content on

One criterion of a good movie is its use of dynamic character development. This can be seen in
the scene where Arlene s ex husband, Ricky (Jon Bon Jovi) returns home. He becomes drunk
and starts verbally abusing Arlene and threatening Trevor. No longer a submissive wife, she
quickly throws Ricky out of the house. Arlene has learned to protect herself and her son, rather
than please a man. Another example is the development of Mr. Simonet. In the beginning of the
movie, he was a harsh teacher who showed little sympathy. Through his relationship with Arlene,
Mr. Simonet grows to be compassionate and sympathetic towards the McKinney s situation.
This use of dynamic character development implies a sense of motion and drives the plot.
Furthermore, the musical selection for a movie is just as important as the plot. Without music,
there would be no suspense or drama. For example, when Trevor is in his room hiding from his
parents yelling, he turns on the radio to listen to Last Resort by Papa Roach. The song is about
wanting to end the internal suffering and agony through self harm and/or suicide. The lyrics, I m
contemplating suicide Cause I m losing my sight Losing my mind Wish somebody would tell me
I m fine are important to the scene because they convey Trevor s emotional struggle. Trevor
yearns for his mother to be happy and free from Ricky, but Trevor wants to be happy as well.

Augustine s Confessions Paper
When one reads the word confessions, one would not necessarily associate it with the word
narrative. Confessions seem to be more of something stated directly without any story like element.
They are also a more personal thing one does not simply put them in a story form unless purposely
intending to do so, because usually it is something that expresses guilt for something personal or is
between the author and their conscience (or perhaps to themselves). However, there can always be
an exception, like Augustine s Confessions. It is written as a form of a narrative, even though the
original the main audience for whom it was written is God, yet it is also intended to be read by
anyone, almost as a didactic piece that sets an example... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So one intention is that the narrative be for anyone to read and go off of as an example or guide
to their own morality. This is also logical because if he were writing his confessions solely for God,
he would have no need to publish it or share it with anyone else, and saying that it is not for God
only further supports this intention.
However, Augustine has another agenda his confessions are also meant to show his praise and
love for God. He says this in the fifth book with: Accept the sacrifice of my confessions by the
agency of my tongue, which Thou has formed and quickened, that it may confess to Thy name...
But let my soul praise Thee, that it may love Thee; and let it confess Thine own mercies to Thee,
that it may praise Thee. This is a clear declaration of his praise to God, and almost another
underlying message of the text to the audience. So as he is writing about his life, he is trying
also to set an example to the audience about how his choices were not always the best and use
this as a guide to their own lives. And finally through his story, use his conversion and change as
a way to praise God to show that even someone who strayed off the path was able to redeem
themselves and how merciful and good God is to accept someone even as sinful as he was.
To bring this all together, Augustine uses details and parallels between some biblical references to

Cause And Effect Of Stress On College Students
According to a study by the Associated Press and mtvU, eight in 10 college students say they
have sometimes or frequently experienced stress in their daily lives over the past three months, (
Stress in College Students ). College Students are inevitably going to be affected by stress at
some point throughout their college experience; however, the cause of the stress can vary by
student. Some of the causes of stress on college students can be tests, homework, home life, social
life, and jobs. Many times, college students have all or most of these causes piled on top of one
another; therefore, giving them extremely high levels of stress. There are many negative effects of
stress on college students. To begin, one effectof stress on college students is physical health
problems. Some of these problems can include internal stomach problems, weight gain, and even
weight loss. When people are stressed, they tend to focus on the stressor rather than their own
health. For example, college students can experience internal stomach problems because of the
amount of stress they are under. According to Doctor Michael Craig Miller from Harvard Medical
School, functional gastrointestinal disorders have many different causes but stress in particular can
cause these problems to arise (Miller). This goes to show that stress can largely affect college
students physical health. Aside from stomach issues, many college students experience weight gain
or weight loss. The Freshman 15 is a

The Characters Of Betty Boop
INTRODUCTION Betty Boop is considered as one of the first and most well known female
characters on the animated screen, she was a reminder of the more carefree days, her reputation
was drawn mainly from adult viewers and contained many sensual and psychological components.
In saying that, Betty Boop was distinctive among female cartoon characters because she embodied
a sensual woman. Interestingly, Jean Paul Gaultier is a provocative troublemaker, always
developing new possibilities by investigating themes of unisex and gender diversity (Vosnaki 2012).
It was vital to him to work on themes of the skin, the strong, sensual woman with corsets and

Vertigo was a film produced by Alfred J Hitchcock Productions released in 1958. The film was
made in San Juan Bautista, CA with an estimated budget of $2,479,000 and grossed $3,200,000

written by Pierre Bioleau and Pierre Ayraud called Sueurs Froides: D Entre les Morts which
means Cold Sweat: From Among the Dead. This film is filled with a lot of passion and well

The Applicability Of Marx And Marxian Theory Essay
Assessing The Applicability of Marx and Marxian Theory across the Economically Developed
world of Europe, Japan, and America and the Relationship Between Capital, Labor, and Government
across the Industrial Revolution, Depression, and Postwar Reconstruction.
By: Charles Jonah Wendt
The countries of France, United States, Japan and Germany all have a very diverse and unique
history. However, one thing that undoubtably unites all of these great countries together is that they
all engage in a capitalistic economic system. While there are many things that can be discussed
about these various countries, in the scope of this class, in which we interrogate the ideas of Marx
and Weber, one question can be had. The question is not whether these countries are capitalistic, but
rather how applicable are the theories of Marx and Marxians to these specific countries.
Marx s opinion of capitalism can simply be reduced to one formula and theory, the Theory of
Surplus Value. This formula is SV=PC SW. Spelled out this means that surplus value equals the
price of the commodity minus a subsistence wage. Marx believes that this theory serves as the
foundation of economic structures. However, this one formula is not Marx s entire theory. Marx
continues his theory beyond this formula to discuss the interaction between the actors in society.
Marx determines that there are three actors in society. These actors are government, capital, and
workers. In his theory marx discusses how private

The Context Of Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis
The Context of The Metamorphosis
Directions: Use the links you have been provided (or conduct your own search) to answer the
following questions in as much detail as possible. Be sure to find connections to what you already
know about the story.
Describe Kafka s family life, especially his relationship with his father. How might this have
impacted themes or motifs in The Metamorphosis?
Franz Kafka had become the only son in a family of three daughters. By the time he was six years
old he would lose two younger brothers, Georg and Heinrich, to death in infancy. As the eldest of
his siblings, Franz assumed a role not unlike Gregor Samsa s: taking upon himself the
responsibilities of supporting the family.
[Encyclopaedia Britannica points out Franz was closest to his younger sister, Ottla, and identified
strongly with his maternal ancestors, but was not particularly close with his mother.]
The Kafka family lived comfortably: his mother belonged to the upper German Jewish bourgeoisie
and his father, demanding and often characterized as tyrannical, was a Czech merchant among the
prestigious environment of German Prague.
These two vastly conflicting ideologies resulted in infighting between his parents (likely caused
by his father) as Franz and his siblings grew up. It is said that Hermann Kafka was domineering
and business obsessed, and that he trivialized young Franz s literary aspirations; and Julie Löwy,
while she didn t share her spouse s temperament, could neither

Gilgamesh, The Epic Of Gilgamesh
In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh has to go through a series of hardship to obtain immortality.
Gilgamesh s determination to find immortality is impacted by the death of his best companion,
Enkidu. At the end of Gilgamesh s quest, he learns the destined fate of mortals (which is...?).
Gilgamesh s character development is shown throughout the story; he changes from an invincible,
fearless king to a king who has accept his mortality and sees his own limitations. Although the quest
of Gilgamesh seems to focus on gaining immortality, it works as a bridge to help Gilgamesh accept
his mortality and to understand that immortality is not achieved by the length of life, but by the
stories that s pass on. In the beginning (beginning of what? the epic? the quest?), Gilgamesh seeks
immortality because he wants to live forever. After Gilgamesh witnesses the deathof Enkidu,
Gilgamesh becomes afraid of death himself. many direct parallels are shown throughout the story to
justify the reasoning behind Gilgamesh s fear of death. Enkidu often acts as an equal companion of
Gilgamesh; Gilgamesh is born with a mixture of human and divine, while Enkidu is a mixture of
human and wild beast. Although there is a difference in their status, their ability and strength are
still the same. Gilgamesh is perfect in strength (Tablet I, Line 36) and Enkidu is the mightiest in the
land (I,117). When Gilgamesh sees someone, who has been through every hardship with him and is
equal in strength, grasp

Academic Plagiarism And Academic Dishonesty
Have you ever shown up to class totally forgetting to look over the notes and study guide for the
chapter test that day? Lack of preparation is a huge contributor to academic dishonesty. Forgetting
to study can cause those who would not usually cheat to stoop low and look at someone else s
work. Some students rely on cheating to make their way through high schoolor college. Academic
dishonestyis a way lazy students take advantage of hard working students. Whether the academic
dishonesty is caused because of the lack of preparation, a poor work ethic, or by having a poor
home life; it usually leads to violating academic dishonesty school policies and leading to short term
and long term effects. One day I showed up to my government class, my first block of the day. I
did not believe we had any assignments, so I had not brought home any class materials the day
before. I walked into the classroom and asked the teacher what the day s plan was. He
immediately raised his eyebrows and said, Well, we have our chapter 3 test today. Immediately
shocked, I panicked. This situation is how many students fall into the cheating trap. This panic
has caused plenty of students to wander their eyes to surrounding test looking for answers.
Thankfully I knew that cheating was not the answer. I respectfully told my teacher what had
happened and he allowed me to briefly review my notes before I took the test. My lack of

The Great Hymn Akhenaten And Religion
Religion was a significant issue throughout the eighteenth dynasty of Egypt, also known as the
Amarna period, and shortly after it. Within the infantry stage of the new pharaoh Akhenaten s reign,
he had turned the customary polytheistic religion worshiped by citizens for many years into a
monotheistic worship of the Aten, a godrepresented by the sun disk. Furthermore, Akhenaten
possessed such strong beliefs for the god Aten that he created a new city, Amarna, where all could
worship Aten, singularly. Akhenaten s obsession caused the devotion of the Aten to become more
of a cult than a religion. Within the Great Hymn to the Aten Akhenaten states that only he knows
Aten, meaning when citizens pray to Aten, they are not allowed to pray directly

As we have come to a better understanding of our global climate, most scientists agree that human
actions have had a warming effect on the global climate (IPCC, 2010). This idea of anthropogenic
global climate change is the general consensus in the scientific community according to the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC). These views were increasingly challenged,
mostly by non scientists, in late 2009 when servers owned by the Climatic Research Unit (CRU)
were hacked. Emails between climate scientists and other documents relating to climate research
were taken illegally and leaked online. This event re energized the climate change debate and

Because of their advanced use of rhetoric, we will focus on the arguments of the opponents. Ethos,
a major element of rhetoric, deals with the writer s establishment of character and authority. This
is a key aspect behind the climate change opponents arguments. They establish themselves as
people who care about both the economy and the environment. One website, ILoveCO2.org,
blatantly asserts that carbon dioxide being a pollutant is absolutely not true (Credible). By
trying to bill carbon dioxide as necessary for life and non sever pollutant, these groups attempt to
borrow ethos from the green movement that has recently become popular. They also try to
appear aligned with the fiscal values of the average person by stating the financial impact of
carbon regulation. Not only do they gain ethos from this, but they also cast a negative ethos on
the climate scientists by labeling them as anti green . A somewhat interesting move by many
opponents was to align their beliefs with the republican political party, billing anthropogenic
climate change supporters as radical leftists. This polarization caused once issues become
political may put off some people. Whether this proves good or bad over time is yet to be seen.
What can be seen is the extreme effect on ethos, and the debate as a whole, that political allegiance
can have on both sides of an issue. Pathos is arguably the most valuable tool that the climate change
opponents have at their disposal.

There is an issue that has plagued the United States even prior to the founding of the nation. That
issue is fair taxation. While the American Colonists were being taxed unfairly without

the wealthy pay a higher marginal tax rate. The operative word there being marginal. As the

wrote an article detailing the expected results of a flat tax system. He based his expectations
upon the various countries that currently employ such a system. The increase in labor supply
can be explained by following the economic law of supply, which states that the supply of a good
will increase as the price increases. Thus, as taxes are lowered and families are able to bring
home more income, more people are willing to search for work. By stimulating the job market,
the economy as a whole will be stimulated, as more families will have greater expendable
incomes. Another effect that a simpler tax code will have is that more Americans will be able to
reap the full benefits of the tax code. By eliminating itemized deductions taxation becomes more
equal. In a chart published by the Tax Foundation, of those making less than fifty thousand dollars,
only eighteen percent made use of itemized deductions. By simplifying the tax code the rate of
compliance would increase. This is caused by the shrinking of the tax code from seventy thousand
pages down to at most ten. In addition to raising compliance, by simplifying the tax code, it
becomes a more equal system of taxation, as each would pay the same marginal rate, however, due
to the generous exemption there would be an inconsistency between the marginal and

Alexis de Tocqueville and James Madison
Alexis de Tocqueville and James Madison had two distinctly different philosophical views when it
came to the problem of majority tyranny. In Tocqueville and the Tyranny of the Majority, Morton
J. Horwitz discusses in length the writings of the Frenchman when he came to and became
fascinated by America. Horowitz argues each man believes the public s best interests and freedoms
were being terrorized. The former (de Tocqueville) believed that society itself is a monster, but the
latter (Madison) believed danger came from a temporarily impassioned majority making lasting
decisions in government.
The problem that has prevented us from solving tyranny in government is the lingering ignorance
combined with the open interpretation of each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a page is taken from Tocqueville s book, and America examines another country as an example,
England is a good model for dealing with this situation. In England, their Parliament is made up of
several parties (many interests), that form alliances for majority power. While it is a majority, it is
very diverse and thus, prevents it from being absorbed with one sole mission.
Ultimately however, tyranny or oppression of any form can be eventually overcome with
education. If the general public becomes informed and engaged again, the apathy that has been
plaguing the populace can be beaten in more ways than one. A rise in voting from the poor and
less educated will allow for more of their interests to be represented, since they are the group that
votes the least. If that occurs the GOP will not only have to modify their platform to be less off
putting to minorities, but also a platform more helpful and beneficial for those less financially
advantaged and in the 47% . It is a circle. If the public feels more informed, they are more likely to
vote, and if they vote, that will bring them power to help modify the current interests to those for
the general good.
With the concept of majority tyranny in mind, the founder s, including Madison, divided the power
of the government into three different branches. The need

In The Time Of The Butterflies Gender Roles Essay
In the Time of the Butterflies: a story of beauty and beast
In the Time of the Butterflies, a beautiful novel that weaves together real life events and fictional
creation into a memory of dedication, love, and loyalty. A remembrance of the people who fought
for the Dominican Republic s freedom from tyranny. One of the tyrannies suppressing the
Dominican people and a central motif of the novel is the relationship between man and woman.
Oftentime men can be seen controlling women throughout the novel. In a patriarchal society, this
is customary to a certain extent. However, many of the men in the novel go so far as to abuse
women as objects to relieve their sexual needs. Trujillo himself is one of the worst offenders. He

However, in reality the Mirabal sisters were the ones in true power. They had the strength to stand
up for what was right. Those women had the true integrity and faced their tyrannical leader.
While certain men take control, others sit back and try to keep the peace. It is this second type
of man that forces the women to stand up and fight the good fight. Despite how earnest their
conviction, the women had to lose in the end. All the Mirabal sisters had to die, except for the
sole survivor, DedГ©. While it seems like Trujillo having most of the Butterflies killed off proves
men to be in control. Trujillo had these women killed off in the most inhumane way. He did not
have the respect to kill his worst enemies himself, he had his henchmen do it. These men choked
the Mirabal sisters to death, then tossed them over the edge of the mountain road in a Jeep (303).
However, Trujillo ended up making these women martyrs, helping bring about his eventual
downfall. In their death, the Mirabal sisters helped bring an end to the dictatorship in what is now
known as the Dominican Republic, and also proved that it is the women, albeit behind the scenes,
that are infinitely more

GIS is no way related to other traditional graphics system in many aspects.
First the coordinates of a particular forecasting system is georeferenced by using it data. So, it can
correct the positions of features of Earth s surface and maintain spatial relations hips between
mapped characteristics. So that common data which are reference to each other can be overlaid and
differentiate to distinguish relation between data elements.
For E.g. Soils and wet land of a particular area can be differentiate and overlaid to determine the
similarity between hydric soils and wetlands.
Second, for particular spatial features the GIS technology use the relational data base technologies

Increasing Frequency And Normality Of Piracy
Outcome
Introduction
This research project explores the increasing frequency and normality of piracy as a crime in
addition to its strong relationship with Australia. In particular, the purpose of this research project
is to explore How the rate of piracy in Australia can be reduced in addition to analysing the
fundamental factors behind the increase in the frequency of piracy, furthermore investigating
methods to reduce such criminal acts, including legal consequences.
Definition of Digital Piracy
Digital piracy or copyright infringement is essentially defined as the unauthorised sharing or use
of a product that has been copyrighted, according to the Australian Parliament House (2006).
However, the way in which the public infringe has changed over the decades. Initially, recording
music being played on the radio onto a cassette player was the inaugural generation of piracy
within our modern society. In the 1980s, recording Television (TV) onto Vertical Helical Scan
(VHS) recorders became prevalent (C Span (Created by Cable), 1986). Soon after, the copying
or ripping of Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs) and Compact Discs (CDs) soared (The Golden Age
of Piracy, 2014). However, none of these methods compare in financial losses to the present
generation of piracy the digital age (IP (Intellectual Property) Awareness Foundation, 2015). The
vast lawless regions of the internet provide the perfect haven for digital piracy. Whether content is

how to account for particular items (Alford et al. 1993). Produce information quickly and

cost and benefit that result from making a specific decision which have highly subjective process

reliability this report will explain about timeliness. The balance between flexibility and timeliness
The other relevance aspect is Timeliness. When information for decision making is not available

Food Safety Is Extremely Severe Worldwide
Food Safety in China
Food safety tends to be a hot topic in Food safety these years. Though the meaning is similar,
different from food security, food safety concentrates more on health aspects rather than
sufficiency. So what is food safety? Food safety is a scientific discipline describing handling,
preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. (AmercianPeanutCouncil,
2014) This prevents civils from severe health hazards and in this way is the food safety similar to
the definition of food defense.
I collected data from different websites and summarized them in a chart. Here is the
performance of countries based on their 2015 food safety score. (Charlebois, 2014) Based on
this chart, China ranks 42 in the whole world. It s clear that the situation of China s food safety
is extremely severe worldwide. The cause of the food safety problem is intricate; however, before
I explain the complex cause of food safety in China, I d like to illustrate the phenomenon of China
s food safety problem which will definitely promote the comprehensibility of the causes of food
safety problems.
People from different fields hold different views upon food safety phenomenon. One of the

multifaceted challenge to Chinese people, society, and the state, involving a number of social,
political, and Beck s theory of risk society. (2012) Food safety problems affect Chinese

The, The Fundamental Way Of Communication
Introduction
In whole of the animal kingdom, human being s voice is unique and is the fundamental way of
communication. The flexibility of sound production and the range of frequency allow people use
their voice to express their emotions (Chatterjee, 2011). Ageing is the process for each human
being to go through. As we all known, linguistic and acoustic characteristics of children s voice and
speech pattern are quite different from adults. Males and females voices are striking different in
pitch. These differences are mainly caused by differences in the anatomical structures of the larynx,
which change rapidly over time due to individual s growth(Tielen, 1989; Kaur, 2015). Especially
during childhood and adolescence, personal physiology changes quickly and their skill of co
articulation also increased (Kaur, 2015). The larynx and vocal folds do not entirely mature until late
adolescence (Mwangi et al., 2009). In particular, noticeable change related to Hormone occurs
among boys. For pre pubertal boys and girls, their vocal apparatus is almost the same, which
means their fundamental frequencies are entirely similar. During puberty, the changes in the larynx
s size and character causes voice cracking and characteristic pitch breaks. This grows more rapidly
and extremely among boys, rather than girls, due to the inner secretion of sex hormones (Tielen,
1989). After this period, individual s voice might be stable in several decades (Chatterjee, 2011).

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Boys Of Pointe...
Ronald Reagan s Fortieth Anniversary of D Day Speech became known as the Boys of Pointe
Du Hoc Speech written by Peggy Noonan. The speech was delivered on June 6, 1984 in
Normandy, France: the site where the Allied forces invaded the cliffs just forty years before
Reagan had delivered this memorable speech (Stepman). The forum itself was an important
aspect of the speech. The delivery of the speech there, on the windy shore cliffs of northern
France, enhanced the visualization as well as the nostalgia for the Veteran audience as a
backdrop for some of the many examples Reagan had used in his speech. The purpose of this
speech was to not only commemorate the American Ranger Veterans for their valiant efforts in
taking this Nazi stronghold, but to also address the world, and the Soviets, that conquest and
tyranny will not stand in the way of peace and liberty. Through the use of effective rhetorical
devices, Ronald Reagan encompassed his theme that there is something worth fighting for when
someone uses force for conquest rather than the use of force for liberation (12). With his examples
of the brave soldiers forty years before, he discussed how their efforts back then affected the world
at the time. One of the most important rhetorical devices that Reagan used was exemplum.
Throughout the speech, Reagan gave many examples of what the soldiers had done. He described
their courage, difficulties, struggles, loyalty, bravery, risk, passion, and sacrifice, with the scene

Coffee Is The World s Second Largest Commodity
With the increase in demand of coffee within coffee drinkers globally, coffee has successfully
ensured its place to become the world s second largest commodity. (cite) Coffea, commonly known
as the coffee plant, is the member of the Rubiaceae family (USDA 2015). While there are various
species of the coffeeplant, Coffea Arabicaand Coffea Canephora are mostly grown. However,
between them Coffea Arabica is considered to have greater quality and flavor. Brazil is known as
the top manufacturer of coffee followed by countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Colombia, and
Ethiopia (USDA 2014). The rising demand for coffee has amplified the dependence of the coffee
industry on countries that grows coffee. Using pesticides on coffee fields seemed to be an
ultimate solution for farmers who were hoping for maximum productivity of coffee. Pesticides are
used in agriculture in order to protect plants from fungal diseases, pests, and insects that affect the
growth of food crops. On the short run, using pesticides has an advantage as it increases the
production and the quality of coffee. However, pesticidepractices have detrimental impact on the
environment, the quality and the amount of coffee manufactured, and the health of the farmers in
the long run.
The agricultural practice that involves the usage of pesticides has contributed in the exploitation of
the environment. The consumption of pesticides in countries producing coffee has increased
rapidly over the decades. For example,

Puerto Rican And American Culture
Puerto Rican has always been an area of interest to America, and United States government has

The Puerto Rican people just like the Mexican American people became part of America s by

Beowulf As A Hero Essay
Beowulf has been a lasting character. His heroic acts have been the subject of poems and books
for more than a millennium. However, with this progression, this character who started off as an
ideal hero of medieval time came to reflect what a hero is in today s society.
Heroes in collected works reflect the morals of a society. When Beowulfs story was initially
recounted as an oral tradition among northern European tribes, its intention was to exemplify
what one must achieve to become an ideal member of their society. In it, Beowulf could commit
no sin. He was resilient, clever, and extremely valiant. If need be, he d come to blows with his
adversaries frequently monsters with his bare hands. He took great risks, yet always came out
triumphant. Also, he gave the impression that he had a sense of where he belonged in his society,
and what his destiny in life was.
Later, after Christianity was introduced to the region, the poem was chronicled by monks. Some
attributes of the legend were altered. This time, Beowulf came to epitomize the ideal Christian
warrior who safeguarded the people from the agents of Satan and hell by using his God given
might and guile. Its intent was to convert its audience to Christianity. Beowulf was already a
beloved hero of people like the Danes and Anglo Saxons. His recruitment by Christianity helped, in

How Does Mr. Darcy Change Throughout The Novel
In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to
tell you how ardently I admire and love you (Austen 124). With these lines, Jane Austen
transformed one of her most well know works, Pride and Prejudice, into an epic 19th century love
story that is still read today. The novelfocuses on young Elizabeth Bennett and her rambunctious
family. As the story progresses different characters are introduced, including Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.
Mr. Darcy displays the gracious and inferior qualities of the English aristocrats in the early 19th
century. At the beginning of the novel Mr. Darcy is perceived as very prejudice and private, yet

Darcy is extremely presumptuous the first time he is introduced. He appears to be very
impudent towards Elizabeth and her family when he appeared at Mr. Bingley s party. Mr.
Bingley and Darcy are very close friends, and Bingley seems to be the only person that Darcy is
close too. Darcy originated from a fortune of money, so his upbringing was luxurious compared
to the Bennetts . He believes that the way the Bennett family present themselves to others is
childish and ill mannered. Mr. Darcy, later, places Elizabeth into the same category he labeled
her family in. Unfortunately, when Mr. Darcy does label Elizabeth so cruelly and treat her with
none other than disrespect, he begins to fall in love with Elizabeth s spitfire of an attitude.
Elizabeth confronts Mr. Darcy about his bloating ego when, in turn, he responds where there is a
real superiority of mind, pride will be always under good regulation (Austen 118). Darcy begins
to stand up for himself against Elizabeth s jabs at his egotistical pigheadedness. He becomes a tad
less presumptuous and more understanding that he has not exactly been the most grateful of young
Elizabeth s attention. Darcy becomes more audacious and overconfident the more times Elizabeth
and him meet at parties. He confronts Elizabeth after a few bickering disputes and asks for her

In the Mayan culture, one would often be buried beneath their own house! The rest of the family
would then abandon the house so they would not disturb the dead. Much mourning was held for
those who had passed. China and ancient Egypt are quite similar! The Chinese would have their
favorite foods buried with them, so they could accompany the soul in the afterlife. (Bradley)
Artifacts that belonged to the deceased would also be buried with them. But the Chinese practiced
one ritual that many other ancient cultures did not: servants and concubines be buried with the
body. Even if they were alive when the deceased had died. It was a way of claiming property. The
Chinese would bury the dead in bronze vessels. Egyptians were buried underground and, famously,
the great pyramids of Egypt. But this was mainly for the fabulously wealthy. For the more common
of the Egyptians, however, a grave was usually the final resting place. (Mark, Burial ) The Romans
practiced burying the dead during the night as to not disturb the activities of the normal city life.
The tradition they used, was that they buried the body on the outside of the city walls in order to
maintain the boundary between the living and the dead. Even when cremation was used, the ashes
could not be buried within the city. The ashes either gathered into an urn, or interred in a tomb.
Romans thought that funerary practices were so important, that they paid money monthly to make
sure their funeral rites would be performed in accordance with tradition, and their status in the
community. (Mark,

Linda De Pauw s contribution of Land of the Unfree: Legal Limitations on Liberty in Revolutionary
America , written in a gender method discusses the slavery issue that was carefully overlooked
during the time that the Declaration of Independence was composed by Thomas Jefferson. De
Pauw discusses the irony of the colonists as they fought for their independence at the same time
maintaining the enslavement of the majority of the colonies population. Her article dared to voice
the unspoken notion that previous historians carefully avoided the issues of slavery. During this
time there was enslavements of both blacks and whites, however, there was different legal
restrictions for each classification of color.
De Pauw, discusses the majority and minority statistics, reflecting the gender history of the
population of the thirteen colonies during this time. Statistics shows the majority of the population
were indeed the less fortunate enslaved blacks, indentured white males and all females. Ironically
the minority numbers were the actual white males that pursued the liberty of this nation. De Pauw
proceeds to analyze the psychological legal ramifications of the majority of the population. She
discusses the legal status, traditions and practices that failed to provide the same liberties to all

Gender Differences In Blood Flow
As she approached him from the opposite side of the room, he almost knew that everyone in the
building could hear his heart thumping in his chest. His collar was tightening around his neck. He
felt as if every twitch in his body was amplified as she wrapped her arms around him. They
embraced. It is apparent that there was a biological reaction internally with the excerpt from above.
The male, in response to sexual stimuli, approaches the first phase of Masters and Johnson sexual
response cycle, the excitement phase. The femalewould have the similar reaction. However, there
would also be differences as well. Blood flow would be increased to the abdominal portions for
both male and female. However, this increased blood flow would create different environments for
both. For example, the male would have an increase in blood flow to the penis, which would cause
constriction in the blood vessels to form an erection. The female would have an increase in blood
flow to the labia minora, majora, and further causing transduction, or increased vaginal lubrication.

As with the previous stage, the body response is similar. There is an increase in blood pressure,
heart rate, and labored breathing. However, the body prepares for the next phase. The penis
becomes fully erect, and the testes move closer to the body cavity (Green, 2014, p162). The female
organs go through their own metamorphosis. The clitoris withdraws underneath the clitoral hood.
The vagina opens at the upper portion of the vaginal canal, creating a vessel to collect sperm. This
phase last only a few minutes in most in anticipation for the next phase, the orgasm

pathway of this pain in not well understood. However, the intercostal, phrenic, and vagus nerves
have all been associated with the cause of pain (Conlon, Shaw, Grichnik, 2008). During the
postoperative period, the patient must be able to clear secretions through coughing and deep

potential for bacterial colonization and parenchymal lung infection. These pulmonary issues can
further progress to systemic complications such as, sepsis, hypoxemia, intrapulmonary shunting,
and progress to cardiovascular failure (Kaiser, Zollinger, Lorenzi, Largiader, Weder, 1998).
Postoperative deep breathing is essential in the prevention of these complications and to the
recovery of thoracic surgery. Adequate postoperative paincontrol reduces these complications by

  • 2. Picasso s Family Of Saltimbanques Suggestive of a covert portrait of Picasso and his group, the poverty and isolation in Family of Saltimbanques (La Famille de Saltimbanques) is clearly evident. Picasso frequented the Cirque MГ©drano in Montmartre and greatly admired the performers. For Picasso, the wandering saltimbanques (a kind of circus performer) represented the neglected lower class, whom he must have identified with as an avant garde artist. Picasso and the saltimbanques had to work hard and strove for recognition in spite of being outsiders, practicing their trades their entire lives. Fully integrating himself in his work, the setting is reminiscent of Picasso s homeland, Spain. The desolate landscape background, empty except for the figures, serves as a stark reminder ... • 3. Functionalism, Conflict Theory, And Symbolic Interactionism Global poverty is one of the biggest epidemics that many countries face today. In this paper I will first explain functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Secondly, I will explain the different causes of global poverty. Thirdly, I will collect my own data to explain poverty in one country. Finally, I will identify the idea of ethnocentric and culturally relative. First and foremost, there are three types of theories that can be applied to global poverty which are functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. To start off with functionalism is when a society comes together and works as a whole. Next, we have conflict theory where some theorist says it happens when a society competes with one another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, another example is when our country help a low poverty that have a great outcome of resources we tell them what to give us in return and how much to give it to us for. That causes a substantial deal of conflict because we are taking their resources that they need to make money for their country in order to survive. Finally, some places like South Africa had a system in which you weren t able to move up to a higher position in which you are only able to obtain the position in which you are born into. South Africa s system was called a caste system, it is no longer illegal, however; it is still enforced daily. When this caste system was a law, then people of lower status were not able to interact with those who were deemed higher than them, and there were some instances when they were not allowed outside at the same time they were. If your shadows had crossed or if you had accidentally had touched them, then they were considered unclean. This would fit under functionalism because they all worked together to keep this system in place. In addition, poverty in Kenya is a humongous epidemic, however; most of the poverty that is seen there is more in the rural area. Most of the work that is available for people in Kenya are farming and agriculture so when there is a disaster that ruins crops they no longer have a job. Even though they are a poor country the children are still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Parallelism And The Femme Fatale Film noir, though difficult to formally define, is a type of film whose elements of style, narrative, and overall tone are most easily characterized by darkness both literal and metaphorical. This style first appeared and had its heyday within American Cinema during the forties and fifties. The term itself was first coined by French critics when, as Paul Schrader described, noticed the new mood of cynicism, pessimism, and, darkness that had crept into the American cinema (Schrader, 265). Indeed, films like Billy Wilder s Double Indemnity (1944) and Joseph H. Lewis Gun Crazy (1950) explored themes of fatalism and nihilism (among others), all the while making use of stylistic expressionist inspired lighting, stylized framing, use of shadows to enhance them. As dark as these films could be, almost laughably so when viewed by audiences today, they were meant to communicate the very real societal anxiety and disillusionment of a post World War Two America. One manifestation of these fears is through the creation of the femme fataleor fatal woman. According to Jack Boozer, they are meant to appear beautiful but also treacherous, criminally depraved and castrating in their desires (Boozer, 21). The femme fatale did not first appear in noir, in fact she even appeared as far back as the biblical figure Salome, however forties Hollywood defined the character (Barnes Smith, 3). • 5. Formulas Vs Calorimetry Matter can take on different changes physically and chemically, for an example of a physical change is when water freezes into ice, there is no chemical change to the water but a physical change the ice is just water molecules made of hydrogen and oxygen packed tightly together. But, another physical change would be bending iron metal, the iron is still the same chemically whether it is made into I beams, or pressed into shapes to make the body of a car; the shape may change but it never changes chemically. In addition, a chemical change is the results in one or more substances that make up an entirely different composition from the original substances. The compounds and / or elements at the start of the chemical reactionare rearranged into a new product of compounds or elements. Also a chemical reaction alters the composition of the original matter, different elements or compounds are present at the end of the chemical change. Although an example of a chemical reaction is the process of rusting, you start with Iron mixed with air and water you get a different compound. • 6. Exclusionary Rule Essay The genesis of the Exclusionary Rule can be traced in early 1900s. It was established to ensure that law enforcement officers followed the law in collecting incriminating evidence. The Exclusionary Rule was designed by the Supreme Court making it a court made rule. The rule is not like other normal rules that are created by statutes passed by the legislative bodies. The essay will outline how the Exclusionary Rulewas developed highlighting the various cases that proved pivotal in its implementation. The essay will also outline the various limitations to the rule as well as the general applicability of the rule in today s courts (Calabresi, 2003). Before the development of the Exclusionary Rule, courts relied on every evidence presented by the state in criminal cases. Admissibility of the evidence was dependent on its relevance irrespective of the manner in which the evidence was collected. In 1914, the Supreme Court demanded that law enforcement agencies must conform to the Fourth Amendment. In Weeks v. United Statesthe Supreme Court ruled that evidence presented by the state was inadmissible. Little has changed since then, (In the long run, penmanship classes for doctors won t do much for patient safety, 2001). This has been an ongoing problem since inception. Therefore, the beginning of the process should be changed in this day and age of technology to have prescriptions entered into computers and handheld devices by the doctor, to ensure accuracy of the medication that is needed to be filled, and electronically sent to the pharmacy. Having a nurse call in prescriptions is a non value added activity that can be eliminated. This may be expensive at the start to implement, but in the long term, it will save both organizations time, help reduce errors, and add value to the level of service the organization gives. With this change, label errors should also be reduced as well, ensuring the patient receives the correct medicine and dosage. After implementing the technological advancements, the pharmacy will be required to keep a log of all medications brought back or called saying that they are the wrong medicine. These logs will be collected monthly to measure the amount of prescriptions filled wrong to determine if the changes are working. REFERENCES Esposito, Lisa. (2014). How to Deal With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One criterion of a good movie is its use of dynamic character development. This can be seen in the scene where Arlene s ex husband, Ricky (Jon Bon Jovi) returns home. He becomes drunk and starts verbally abusing Arlene and threatening Trevor. No longer a submissive wife, she quickly throws Ricky out of the house. Arlene has learned to protect herself and her son, rather than please a man. Another example is the development of Mr. Simonet. In the beginning of the movie, he was a harsh teacher who showed little sympathy. Through his relationship with Arlene, Mr. Simonet grows to be compassionate and sympathetic towards the McKinney s situation. This use of dynamic character development implies a sense of motion and drives the plot. Furthermore, the musical selection for a movie is just as important as the plot. Without music, there would be no suspense or drama. For example, when Trevor is in his room hiding from his parents yelling, he turns on the radio to listen to Last Resort by Papa Roach. The song is about wanting to end the internal suffering and agony through self harm and/or suicide. The lyrics, I m contemplating suicide Cause I m losing my sight Losing my mind Wish somebody would tell me I m fine are important to the scene because they convey Trevor s emotional struggle. • 12. Augustine s Confessions Paper When one reads the word confessions, one would not necessarily associate it with the word narrative. Confessions seem to be more of something stated directly without any story like element. They are also a more personal thing one does not simply put them in a story form unless purposely intending to do so, because usually it is something that expresses guilt for something personal or is between the author and their conscience (or perhaps to themselves). However, there can always be an exception, like Augustine s Confessions. It is written as a form of a narrative, even though the original the main audience for whom it was written is God, yet it is also intended to be read by anyone, almost as a didactic piece that sets an example... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So one intention is that the narrative be for anyone to read and go off of as an example or guide to their own morality. This is also logical because if he were writing his confessions solely for God, he would have no need to publish it or share it with anyone else, and saying that it is not for God only further supports this intention. However, Augustine has another agenda his confessions are also meant to show his praise and love for God. He says this in the fifth book with: Accept the sacrifice of my confessions by the agency of my tongue, which Thou has formed and quickened, that it may confess to Thy name... But let my soul praise Thee, that it may love Thee; and let it confess Thine own mercies to Thee, that it may praise Thee. This is a clear declaration of his praise to God, and almost another underlying message of the text to the audience. So as he is writing about his life, he is trying also to set an example to the audience about how his choices were not always the best and use this as a guide to their own lives. And finally through his story, use his conversion and change as a way to praise God to show that even someone who strayed off the path was able to redeem themselves and how merciful and good God is to accept someone even as sinful as he was. The Applicability Of Marx And Marxian Theory Essay Assessing The Applicability of Marx and Marxian Theory across the Economically Developed world of Europe, Japan, and America and the Relationship Between Capital, Labor, and Government across the Industrial Revolution, Depression, and Postwar Reconstruction. By: Charles Jonah Wendt The countries of France, United States, Japan and Germany all have a very diverse and unique history. However, one thing that undoubtably unites all of these great countries together is that they all engage in a capitalistic economic system. While there are many things that can be discussed about these various countries, in the scope of this class, in which we interrogate the ideas of Marx and Weber, one question can be had. The question is not whether these countries are capitalistic, but rather how applicable are the theories of Marx and Marxians to these specific countries. Marx s opinion of capitalism can simply be reduced to one formula and theory, the Theory of Surplus Value. This formula is SV=PC SW. Spelled out this means that surplus value equals the price of the commodity minus a subsistence wage. Marx believes that this theory serves as the foundation of economic structures. However, this one formula is not Marx s entire theory. Marx continues his theory beyond this formula to discuss the interaction between the actors in society. Marx determines that there are three actors in society. These actors are government, capital, and workers. In his theory marx discusses how private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How might this have impacted themes or motifs in The Metamorphosis? Franz Kafka had become the only son in a family of three daughters. By the time he was six years old he would lose two younger brothers, Georg and Heinrich, to death in infancy. As the eldest of his siblings, Franz assumed a role not unlike Gregor Samsa s: taking upon himself the responsibilities of supporting the family. [Encyclopaedia Britannica points out Franz was closest to his younger sister, Ottla, and identified strongly with his maternal ancestors, but was not particularly close with his mother.] The Kafka family lived comfortably: his mother belonged to the upper German Jewish bourgeoisie and his father, demanding and often characterized as tyrannical, was a Czech merchant among the prestigious environment of German Prague. These two vastly conflicting ideologies resulted in infighting between his parents (likely caused by his father) as Franz and his siblings grew up. It is said that Hermann Kafka was domineering and business obsessed, and that he trivialized young Franz s literary aspirations; and Julie LГ¶wy, while she didn t share her spouse s temperament, could neither ... Thus, as taxes are lowered and families are able to bring home more income, more people are willing to search for work. Ultimately however, tyranny or oppression of any form can be eventually overcome with education. If the general public becomes informed and engaged again, the apathy that has been plaguing the populace can be beaten in more ways than one. Soon after, the copying or ripping of Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs) and Compact Discs (CDs) soared (The Golden Age of Piracy, 2014). • 33. The, The Fundamental Way Of Communication Introduction In whole of the animal kingdom, human being s voice is unique and is the fundamental way of communication. The flexibility of sound production and the range of frequency allow people use their voice to express their emotions (Chatterjee, 2011). Ageing is the process for each human being to go through. As we all known, linguistic and acoustic characteristics of children s voice and speech pattern are quite different from adults. Males and females voices are striking different in pitch. These differences are mainly caused by differences in the anatomical structures of the larynx, which change rapidly over time due to individual s growth(Tielen, 1989; Kaur, 2015). Especially during childhood and adolescence, personal physiology changes quickly and their skill of co articulation also increased (Kaur, 2015). The larynx and vocal folds do not entirely mature until late adolescence (Mwangi et al., 2009). In particular, noticeable change related to Hormone occurs among boys. For pre pubertal boys and girls, their vocal apparatus is almost the same, which means their fundamental frequencies are entirely similar. During puberty, the changes in the larynx s size and character causes voice cracking and characteristic pitch breaks. This grows more rapidly and extremely among boys, rather than girls, due to the inner secretion of sex hormones (Tielen, 1989). After this period, individual s voice might be stable in several decades (Chatterjee, 2011). While, a significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The speech was delivered on June 6, 1984 in Normandy, France: the site where the Allied forces invaded the cliffs just forty years before Reagan had delivered this memorable speech (Stepman). The forum itself was an important aspect of the speech. The delivery of the speech there, on the windy shore cliffs of northern France, enhanced the visualization as well as the nostalgia for the Veteran audience as a backdrop for some of the many examples Reagan had used in his speech. The purpose of this speech was to not only commemorate the American Ranger Veterans for their valiant efforts in taking this Nazi stronghold, but to also address the world, and the Soviets, that conquest and tyranny will not stand in the way of peace and liberty. Through the use of effective rhetorical devices, Ronald Reagan encompassed his theme that there is something worth fighting for when someone uses force for conquest rather than the use of force for liberation (12). With his examples of the brave soldiers forty years before, he discussed how their efforts back then affected the world at the time. One of the most important rhetorical devices that Reagan used was exemplum. Throughout the speech, Reagan gave many examples of what the soldiers had done. Pesticides are used in agriculture in order to protect plants from fungal diseases, pests, and insects that affect the growth of food crops. On the short run, using pesticides has an advantage as it increases the production and the quality of coffee. However, with this progression, this character who started off as an ideal hero of medieval time came to reflect what a hero is in today s society. Heroes in collected works reflect the morals of a society. When Beowulfs story was initially recounted as an oral tradition among northern European tribes, its intention was to exemplify what one must achieve to become an ideal member of their society. In it, Beowulf could commit no sin. He was resilient, clever, and extremely valiant. If need be, he d come to blows with his adversaries frequently monsters with his bare hands. He took great risks, yet always came out triumphant. Also, he gave the impression that he had a sense of where he belonged in his society, and what his destiny in life was. Later, after Christianity was introduced to the region, the poem was chronicled by monks. Some attributes of the legend were altered. This time, Beowulf came to epitomize the ideal Christian warrior who safeguarded the people from the agents of Satan and hell by using his God given might and guile. Its intent was to convert its audience to Christianity. Beowulf was already a beloved hero of people like the Danes and Anglo Saxons. His recruitment by Christianity helped, in ... Darcy originated from a fortune of money, so his upbringing was luxurious compared to the Bennetts . He believes that the way the Bennett family present themselves to others is childish and ill mannered. Mr. Darcy, later, places Elizabeth into the same category he labeled her family in. Unfortunately, when Mr. Darcy does label Elizabeth so cruelly and treat her with none other than disrespect, he begins to fall in love with Elizabeth s spitfire of an attitude. Elizabeth confronts Mr. Darcy about his bloating ego when, in turn, he responds where there is a real superiority of mind, pride will be always under good regulation (Austen 118). Darcy begins to stand up for himself against Elizabeth s jabs at his egotistical pigheadedness. He becomes a tad less presumptuous and more understanding that he has not exactly been the most grateful of young Elizabeth s attention. Darcy becomes more audacious and overconfident the more times Elizabeth and him meet at parties. He confronts Elizabeth after a few bickering disputes and asks for her hand in marriage.
