This document summarizes a presentation given by Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam at the International Conference on "Open Source Software in Library Management: Opportunities and Challenges in Library Services" in Bangladesh in 2016. The presentation discussed the use of open source software for library management in Bangladesh, noting that 76% of libraries used open source software compared to 24% that used other options. It identified some challenges to adopting open source software including hacking concerns, lack of technical support, financial and technical barriers, and attitudinal issues. The presentation concluded that more progress still needs to be made in adopting open source library management software.
