The Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative (CVEC) was created in 2007 to develop renewable energy resources for inclusion in the Cape Light Compact's energy supply. CVEC has developed a total portfolio of 51 megawatts of renewable energy projects, providing over $12.5 million in savings for its members and reducing carbon emissions by over 61 million pounds annually. CVEC's process of integrating clean energy into community energy systems has established regional cooperation around supply chains, incentives, and utilizing local resources.
