Nature Photography - How-to and Health Benefits of Connecting Your Viewers wi...Jeremy Burnham
This document discusses how to use photography techniques like light, composition, and motion to connect viewers with nature. It explains that being in nature or viewing nature has health benefits like reducing stress and improving mood. Regarding light, the document advises considering qualities like warmth, direction, and timing to evoke emotions. Composition tips include using horizontal lines for calmness and diagonals for tension. Research shows motion triggers greater brain engagement than static images. The goal is to recreate nature's emotional impact and healing power through strategic use of these photographic elements.
This document outlines key points about effective communication and presentation skills. It discusses:
- The biological and cognitive limitations people have in understanding information, such as limited working memory and attention span. Presenters must account for these constraints through techniques like chunking information.
- Common barriers to understanding, including information overload, esoteric jargon, and the "curse of knowledge" where presenters assume more background than listeners have.
- The importance of facilitating meaning-making for the audience by relating information to their prior knowledge and interests, and setting the proper context for interpretation.
- Guidelines covered for presentations include keeping them clear, concise, concrete, correct, coherent, and complete while being courte

People are making bad decisions. Two main factors contribute to our inability to make good initial decisions. First, we don’t have the time to think. And second, we don’t have a firm understanding of how the world works.
You'll make better decisions if you understand how the world works and apply a framework.
These better decisions will also free up your time, reduce your stress, allow you to spend more time with your family, and achieve success.

David A. McLeod presented on understanding trauma informed practice. He discussed how an individual's experiences can unconsciously trigger feelings and memories due to neural connections formed from trauma. McLeod explained that traumatic experiences can physically change the brain and cause it to function more primitively. He emphasized that trauma informed practice is important for social workers to recognize how a client's past trauma may impact their present and create barriers to intervention. The presentation aimed to provide a basic understanding of how trauma affects the brain and behavior to enhance clinical social work practice.

The document discusses the need for organizations to spend more time thinking about and planning for "the day after tomorrow." It notes that while companies focus most of their attention on today and tomorrow, the pace of technological change means the day after tomorrow is approaching faster than ever. However, companies still spend very little time (around 0-10%) considering the long-term future and opportunities for radical innovation. The document argues that dedicating more resources to envisioning the day after tomorrow could help companies generate significant long-term value and ensure their relevance in an increasingly disrupted business environment.

The document discusses perception and the processes involved. It defines perception as how the brain receives, organizes, and interprets information from the senses. The main senses involved in perception are identified as vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, balance, and kinesthesia. The document also explores the mental processes that influence perception like memory, attention, and emotions. Factors that can influence differences in individual perception are discussed as well, including personal characteristics and socio-cultural influences.
The document discusses the relationship between creativity and mental health. It notes that several studies have found links between mental health problems and creative brains, as many famous artists struggled with their mental health. However, psychologists caution against overstating this connection, as not all creative people have mental disorders. The document encourages creatives to use their talents to improve their well-being rather than being slaves to their passions. It also provides resources for those struggling with mental health issues like depression.
The document discusses helping teenagers make good decisions. It notes that the prefrontal cortex, responsible for decision making, is not fully developed until the early-to-mid 20s. As a result, teenagers are more likely to make impulsive decisions and be influenced by peers. However, decision making skills can be learned. The document outlines six key steps: 1) be aware of upcoming decisions, 2) scenario plan, 3) stop and think, 4) have a decision making compass, 5) ask for help, and 6) use mistakes as learning opportunities. Good decision making skills can set teens up for success and help manage stress.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT or Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that serves a range of roles in the human body. It is sometimes referred to as the happy chemical since it promotes overall well-being and happiness.
It is mostly found in the brain, intestines, and blood platelets.
5-HT is utilised to transport messages between nerve cells, is known to be involved in smooth muscle contraction, and adds to overall well-being and pleasure, among other benefits. 5-HT regulates the body's sleep-wake cycles and internal clock by acting as a precursor to melatonin.
It is hypothesised to regulate hunger, emotions, motor, cognitive, and autonomic processes.

This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.

Mercurius is named after the roman god mercurius, the god of trade and science. The planet mercurius is named after the same god. Mercurius is sometimes called hydrargyrum, means ‘watery silver’. Its shine and colour are very similar to silver, but mercury is a fluid at room temperatures. The name quick silver is a translation of hydrargyrum, where the word quick describes its tendency to scatter away in all directions.
The droplets have a tendency to conglomerate to one big mass, but on being shaken they fall apart into countless little droplets again. It is used to ignite explosives, like mercury fulminate, the explosive character is one of its general themes.

classical physics could not explain.

12. QUANTUM SCIENCE:
•2 major revolutions in physics
created a shift in the original
scientific paradigm:
•The theory of relativity and
• the development of
quantum mechanics.
1/29/2017 www.LTSemaj.com/ www.ABOVEorBEYONDJM.COM 12
13. QUANTUM SCIENCE:
• Physicists discovered the limitations of classical physics and developed
the main concepts of the quantum theory
• that replaced it in the early decades of the 20th century.
• These concepts are described in roughly the order in which they were
first discovered.
• Light behaves in some respects like particles and in other respects
like waves.
• Matter—particles such as electrons and atoms—exhibits wavelike
behaviour too.
• Some light sources, including neon lights, give off only certain
frequencies of light.
1/29/2017 www.LTSemaj.com/ www.ABOVEorBEYONDJM.COM 13
14. Quantum Mechanics
•shows that light, along with all other forms of
electromagnetic radiation, comes in discrete units,
called photons,
•and predicts its energies, colours, and spectral
intensities.
•Since one never observes half a photon,
•a single photon is a quantum,
•or smallest observable amount, of the electromagnetic
field.

15. QUANTUM SCIENCE:
•The observer effect in quantum
physics states that
•where you direct your attention
is where you place your energy.
•As a consequence, you affect the
material world
•(which is made mostly of
energy).

16. Focus on WhatYouWant
• If you entertain that idea even for a
moment, you might start focusing
on what you want instead of what
you don’t want.
• And you might even find yourself
thinking:
• If an atom is 99.99999% energy
and 0.00001% physical substance,
• then I’m actually more nothing
than something!

25. Important New Book
• NewYorkTimes bestselling author Deepak
Chopra joins forces with leading physicist
Menas Kafatos to explore some of the most
important and baffling questions about our place
in the world. (Feb 7, 2017)
• What happens when modern science reaches a
crucial turning point that challenges everything
we know about reality?
• You Are the Universe literally means what it
says
• each of us is a co-creator of reality extending
to the vastest reaches of time and space.
1/29/2017 www.LTSemaj.com/ www.ABOVEorBEYONDJM.COM 25
27. The Nature of Reality
•“So why do you keep your
attention on that small
percentage of the physical world
when you are so much more?
•Defining your present reality by
what you perceive with your
senses is the biggest limitation
you have”. (Joe Dispenza)

28. NEUROSCIENCE:
• Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system.
• It is currently an interdisciplinary science that collaborates
with other fields
• such as chemistry, cognitive science,
computer science, engineering, linguistics,
mathematics, medicine (including
neurology), genetics, and allied disciplines
including philosophy, physics, and
psychology.
• The scope of neuroscience has broadened to include
different approaches used to study the molecular, cellular,
developmental, structural, functional, evolutionary,
computational, and medical aspects of the nervous
system.

29. Some GuidingThoughts
• By the time we’re in our mid-30s, our
identity and personality is largely
formed.
• By then we have memorized a select set
of behaviors, attitudes, beliefs,
emotional reactions, habits, skills,
associative memories, conditioned
responses, and perceptions that are now
subconsciously programmed within us.
•Those programs are running us,
because the body has become the
mind.
1/29/2017 www.LTSemaj.com/ www.ABOVEorBEYONDJM.COM 29
31. HABITS = Body is Directing Mind
•So about 95% of who we are by 30+is
a series of subconscious programs
that have become automatic in
almost all our actions.
•This programme has a built in
downside that is always has the
potential to undermine you
effectiveness,
• unless you identify them and
transform them.
1/29/2017 www.LTSemaj.com/ www.ABOVEorBEYONDJM.COM 31
33. Meditation
•We are part of a vast,
invisible field of
energy, which contains
all possible realities
and responds to our
thoughts and our
feelings.
1/29/2017 www.LTSemaj.com/ www.ABOVEorBEYONDJM.COM 33
34. Meditation
•Meditating is a means for us
to move beyond your
analytical mind so that we
can access our subconscious
mind.
•This is where our bad habits
and behaviors that we want
to change reside.
1/29/2017 www.LTSemaj.com/ www.ABOVEorBEYONDJM.COM 34
35. Meditation •Meditation opens the door
between the conscious and
subconscious minds.
•We meditate to enter the operating
system of the subconscious and can
change them to more productive
modes to support us in our lives.
•If we want a new outcome, we will
have to break the habit of being our
old selves, and reinvent a new self.

RE-WIRING AND RE-LEARNING.

38. What We Now Know
•The latest research supports the notion that we
have a natural ability
•to change the brain and body by thought alone.
•Because you can make thought more real than
anything else,
•you can change who you are from brain cell to gene,
•given the right understanding.

YOU WILL RECEIVE
ANSWERS FROM THE UNIVERSE
Sometimes you will even get more than answers;

•It is important that you observe solutions as
they pop up all around you
•Remember it is less important what you say
•but much more important that you listen

78. Michael Pollan
•Reminds us that most food at the supermarket is not really
food, rather an “edible foodlike substance”.
•Some Food Rules:
1. If it came from a plant, eat it; if it was made in a plant, don’t.
2. Don’t eat breakfast cereals that change the color of the milk.
3. Eat all the junk food you want as long as you cook it yourself
4. It’s not food if it’s called by the same name in every language,
Think Big Mac, Cheetos or Pringles.
5. Avoid foods you see advertised on television.

92. The Forest Spa Experience
ImmerseYourself in a Forest for Better Health
•Most of us sense that taking a
walk in a forest is good for us.
•We take a break from the rush
of our daily lives.
•We enjoy the beauty and
peace of being in a natural
setting.
January 29, 2017
93. Powerful Medicine
•Immerse yourself in a Forest Spa
Experience or the closest thing to
it for at least 40 minutes at a time
at least 5 times per week
•Walking in wooded areas,
breathing clean air and eating
good food –
• this is your best fuel to help you solve all
the problems of life
January 29, 2017
94. The Body:
•For maximum benefit your walking should be in
a forested area and not interrupted by vehicles
•The best urban route is a tree lined route that
allows you to walk in the middle of the road
•more that 75% of the time.

95. Physical Activity Lowers Risk of 13Types of
Cancer
• 1.44 million participants (median [range] age, 59 [19-98] years; 57% female).
• High vs low levels of leisure-time physical activity were associated with lower
risks of 13 cancers:
• Esophageal liver
• Lung kidney gastric
• cardia endometrial
• myeloid leukemia myeloma
• Colon head and neck
• Rectal bladder breast
