My Writing For Health Class
I don t remember how old I was, or even what grade I was in. After all, several decades have gone by
since then. What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my mother suddenly altered our usual
homework chatter. Typically, I d shout out how to spell a word and then mom would holler back the
series of letters, steadily and three at a time. But not that day. What do you mean, look it up myself? I
hollered back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she washed up
from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever.
Look it up yourself. She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn t do so well on my last
spelling quiz?
No mom, I m not doing spelling, I m writing my report for health class. I tried again, pencil still
poised mid sentence on the blue line of the paper waiting for the letters to come.
That s ok. The dictionary s right there on your shelf. She replied with that parental hint of finality.
But mom... I groaned the words, how am I supposed to look it up if I don t know how to spell it? Only
the sounds of her motions around the kitchen came as a reply.
I ll never get to go outside and play. I muttered to myself before moving woodenly over to wrestle
with the giant tome that was my mother s dictionary.
I didn t appreciate it (at all) at the time, as children so often don t, but occasionally mothers actually
do know best. This proved to be a significant juncture in my literacy development, not

Pcb Case Study
Association between blood levels of PCDDs/PCDFs/dioxin like PCBs and history of allergic and other
disease in the Japanese population
Nakamoto et al. conducted a cross sectional study on over 2000 Japanese women and men exposed to
background, rather than occupational or war time, levels of dioxins including PCDDs, PCDFs, dioxin
like PCBs. Dioxins in this study were likely present because of combustion of chlorinated materials
and older manufactured electronics components. The study participants lived in urban areas, farming
and fishing villages for at least ten consecutive years and had no concomitant occupational exposure
to dioxins. They had a mean age of 43.5 ± 13.6 years in men and 45.3 ± 14.0 years in women.

The study showed a non complicated hypertension risk ratio of 2.23 and an RR of 2.01 in cases of
complicated hypertension, defined as hypertension with organ damage (17). Circulating levels of p,p
DDE are related to prevalent hypertension in the elderly
This study included 1016 participants who were ethnically Caucasian men and women aged 70 or
older living in Uppsala, Sweden. Average supine blood pressure was calculated via three
sphygmomanometer measurements after 30 minutes of rest. Lind et al. measured a set of 23 POPs in
the serum using high resolution chromatography/ high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS),
including 16 PCB congeners, 5 OC pesticides, OCDD, and one brominated biphenyl ether congener,
and lipid normalized the values. They used a logistic regression model to assess POP levels and
prevalent hypertension, defined as measured BP ≥ 140/90 mmHg or use of antihypertensives,
adjusting for gender, BMI, smoking status, exercise, and education. Circulating lipid normalized POP
levels PCB 180, 138, 170, and 1,1 Dichloro 2,2 bis(4 dichlordiphenyl) ethylene (DDE) were among
the highest of the COIs. They did not find a clear relationship between TEQ and hypertension, and

Contexts That Shape Social Work Practice
Contexts that Shape Social Work Practice Social work agencies strive to provide access to services
that promote well being for those most in need in society. Different agencies may vary in regard to
their specific purposes, missions, or foundations. Two agencies that provide assistance in diverse ways
to individuals in need are the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and The Mayhill
Hospital. The following discussion will explore comparisons and contrasts between these agencies
with regard to their focuses, interventions, and roles. Focuses The Texas Department of Family and
Protective Services and the Mayhill hospital have in common a concern for the welfare of society.
However, the two agencies differ with regard to their specific focuses. The Mayhill Hospital
specifically provides mental health services for the area of Denton, Texas. It is a private psychiatric
hospital that specializes in the provision of therapy for mental health issues and rehabilitative
treatment for chemical dependency. The population served by the hospital includes adults and senior
citizens. Some of the programs offered by the hospital include therapy for mental health disorders,
treatment for sleep disorders, counseling, suicide prevention, and chemical dependency programs. The
care provided by the services offered by the Mayhill Hospital is compassionate, supportive, and is

Ng And Lake Rape Essay
Ng and Lake began a series of crimes; abduction, rape, and rape which all occurred in Lake s cabin in
Calaveras County, California. Altogether there was bodies of seven men, three women, two baby boys
and at least 45 pounds of bone fragments was recovered from the ground by Lake s cabin site. They
killed the men and the babies immediately, and then they kept the women alive and repeatedly abused
them. They videotaped themselves raping and abusing the woman until they killed them. It was
believed that Ng and Lake murdered 11 to 25 people in that cabin. Their rampage could have lasted
alot longer if it wasn t for Ng s addiction to stealing. Ng had stolen a vise from a hardware store and
fled the scene. Lake then returned to the hardware store and tried to pay for the vise. But by then the
police were already on the scene. The police had noticed that the license plates were registered to ...

Reflection On Self Assessment
Introduction
I am currently pursuing my Masters in Finance along with my MBA. I see myself in a strategic
consulting role with a focus in finance. I have close to four years of work experience ranging from
being the youngest and the least experienced in the team to leading a team of 5 people. I have
frequently reflected on my leadership style and personal characteristics that determines my work style.
The results have been consistent with my career progression. This is the first time that I have taken
some of these self assessment tests after I started my graduate degree and I am happy to see the
progression in leadership skills.

Organized, structured environment where it is about learning how things are done around here suit the
factual ISTJ.
An ideal job for an ISTJ allows them to solve logical problems in an orderly way. An ideal work
environment for an ISTJ is quiet, organized, and structured, with rules and regulations that are well
established and clearly adhered to by all. Financial officer, Auditing, Administration, Process Control,
Executive, Manager type roles suit the ISTJ.
These characteristics perfectly relate to mine. I always thrive as a leader in an organized structured
environment. Though I lam more productive when working independently, I appreciate the value of
participating on a team as well, especially with a well structured team. This is typical of an ISTJ.
My career goals are significantly aligned with my personality type. As financial consultant. It
demands me to solve logical problems in an orderly way. I should be able to take a critical view of
things and that aspect of my personality will help me be a successful problem solver.

My results from the Big Five Personality Test are illustrated below
Extroversion Low
Agreeableness Neutral
Conscientiousness High
Neuroticism High
Openness to Experience Neutral
Like my results from other personality tests and my own experience, I ranked low on extroversion.
This is true to my character and my introversion is a big part of who I am. Though I am an introvert, I

The Pros And Cons Of Soda Ban
1Why has there been so much fuss about New York City s attempt to impose a soda ban,1 or more
precisely, a ban on large size sugary drinks ? After all, people can still get as much soda as they want.
This isn t Prohibition. It s just that getting it would take slightly more effort. So, why is this such a big
deal?
1 soda ban
In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume.
The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law.
2 Obviously, it s not about soda. It s because such a ban suggests that sometimes we need to be
stopped from doing foolish stuff, and this has become, in contemporary American politics, highly
controversial, no matter how trivial the particular issue. (Large cups of soda as symbols of human
dignity? Really?) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s this common desire to be left alone that prompted the Mississippi Legislature earlier this month to
pass a ban on bans a law that forbids municipalities to place local restrictions on food or drink.
4 We have a vision of ourselves as free, rational beings who are totally capable of making all the
decisions we need to in order to create a good life. Give us complete liberty, and, barring natural
disasters, we ll end up where we want to be. It s a nice vision, one that makes us feel proud of
ourselves. But it s false.
5John Stuart Mill2 wrote in 1859 that the only justifiable reason for interfering in someone s freedom
of action was to prevent harm to others. According to Mill s harm principle, we should almost never
stop people from behavior that affects only themselves, because people know best what they

Stereotypes Of Geography
Regions are necessary to understand a piece of land in a meaningful manner and to successfully
advance civilization using the surrounding natural resources. Canada, being the second biggest
country in the world, is home to numerous biomes, many forms of natural resources and a very diverse
population. However, Canada is united by the different patchworks of regions that creates it and is
dependent on them to grow. Just like how geographers define regions, the regions themselves define
the country. The contrast between the northern tundra contrasted with the milder border defining south
gives the impression that Canada is much colder than it actually is. For example, the stereotype of
Canada is a very sparsely populated land that is covered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the regions that urban citizens are concerned about may not be the same type of regions that
geographers are studying. For the majority of the population in Canada, regions do not define what
type of land they live but the types of resources, food, and culture they interact with in their daily
lives. Living in an urban or suburban society, the natural resources nor the types of terrain matter little
to them. However, the lingering aspects of early settlers still affects the city dwellers greatly. For
instance, the difference in culture between coastal cities and interior cities could affect the lifestyle
and habits of its inhabitants in unpredictable ways. Even in current times, the importance of regions
for newly immigrants can determine key variables such as accessibility to employment, English
language classes, people of similar cultures or situations, proximity to food/clothing/healthcare can
determine livability in the Toronto Metropolitan Area. Instead of natural resources, the crucial
resources for these refuges are the ability to be able to survive by obtain the ability to communicate
and the ability to make money. As for biomes, the importance of living with like minded people can
provide security and support as well as a comfort of living that some other parts of the area does not

Double Muscling
Selective breeding
Selective breeding is a process where animal and plant breeders select individuals with desirable traits
and breed them to produce offspring with these desirable traits, which are determined by desirable
alleles in the selected organism s genotype. This produces offspring with favourable traits. (3) The
animal that will be discussed is the Belgian blue cattle. The Belgian blue cattle has the characteristic
of what is called double muscling. Double muscling is caused by the recessive mutation of the
myostatin gene, and naturally occurs. (12) The myostatin sequence present in Belgian blue cattle is an
11 nucleotide deletion in the third exon which causes a frame shift that eliminates virtually all of the
mature, active region of the molecule .(14) It prevents the control of muscle growth, and causes there
to be more muscle fibres. However, it is with sacrificing other important body functions such as
reproductions, and normal fat and bone deposition. (12) This creates cattle that have up to 40% more
muscle mass than other normal cattle. Most of the extra muscle is lean meat. The Belgian blue cattle
was created for the dairy and meat industry, but now is generally for meat.(17) The Belgian ... Show

Sometimes, prognathism is also seen. Both of these features means that the calves find it harder to
suckle when young. (12) This means they do not get enough nutrients from their mother s milk as a
calf. This means that they have a lower ability to survive to an adult, and to the reproductive age. This
means that there will be fewer cows and bulls that are able to breed, to produce Belgian blue calves.
This means that the survival of the Belgian blue cattle population

Analysis Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Signed Into Law
Following his election in 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law something radical for its
time: The Social Security Act. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by
minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line. Simply
put, Social Security is a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a minimal
source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average person s yearly
income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein benefits are decided
by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding scale with caps (United
States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much higher for people of lower
incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher incomes (Benefit). Both the
scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social Security accumulates its funds into
a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US Treasury Securities, where interest is
accumulated and put back into the fund. Social Security s benefits are not affected by the investments.
Since 1982, the Social Security trust fund has experienced a net increase and in 2015, the asset
reserves sit at 2.8 trillion dollars (Financial). Despite this, the misinformed often point their fingers at
the trust fund and claim that it is on its last leg, and will soon run out. Every few

Procrastination Of His Father s Death In Hamlet, By...
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, is a very complex play with many catechisms scholars study to this
day. One such question relates to Hamlet s procrastination for vengeance of his father s death.
Confronted by the ghost of his father, Hamlet is instructed to revenge his foul and most unnatural
murder (Shakespeare I.v.31), yet he goes on to tarry the act for almost the entirety of the play. This
brings about many ideas as to why he took such delay and the effect it had on the characters involved
and the play itself as a whole. Hamlet had promised the ghost that [he], with wings as swift/ as
meditation or the thoughts of love/ may sweep to [his] revenge (Shakespeare I.v.35 7). This, to an
unfamiliar reader, would seem very straightforward, yet Hamlet speaks with no cause. He
procrastinates so much that, later in the play, the ghost reappears to remind him to not forget. This
visitation / Is but to whet thy almost blunted purpose (Shakespeare III.iv.136 7). His father literally
comes back as a ghost to remind Hamlet that he is supposed to be seeking revenge. Hamlet seems so
uninterested in the idea of actually going through with avenging his father s death; rather, he dwells on
it and falls into depression, not acting on his anger or instruction whatsoever.
Hamlet himself does not recognize a reason for his dally. He is extremely upset by his inability to
enact vengeance. It deeply upsets him that an actor in a dream of passion... should weep (Shakespeare
II.ii.579 87)

My passion for sustainable development was influenced by father. As a garbage truck driver, he would

Pro-D Synthesis Lab Report
Endogenous synthesis of vitamin D takes place in two steps. In first step the ultraviolet (UV B)
spectrum (wave length 290 360 nm) impinges on human skin and facilitates the conversion of 7
dehydrocholesterol present in the plasma membrane of the cells in upper skin layers, mainly in the
stratum basale and the stratum spinosum to pro vitamin D3. UV light B breaks the B ring of 7
dehydrocholesterol to form a pre D isomer26 27. In second step the Pro vitamin D3 which is
inherently unstable rapidly isomerizes to D3 in a thermo sensitive but non catalytic process. With
continued exposure of UV B, Pro D3 is converted to biologically inactive lumisterol . Tachysterol is
also formed but like pro D3 it does not accumulate with extended UV radiations24,28. The formation
of lumisterol and tachysterol is reversible and can be converted back to pre D3 as pre D3 levels fall.

endogenously synthesized vitamin D3 provide a slower hepatic delivery of the vitamin D and the more

which associates with chylomicrons and lipoproteins and allow receptor mediated rapid hepatic

contribution to our understanding of life at the time.
Sebastien Manrique, a priest who went on a journey to India for missionary work, writes his
experiences to educate his audience as well as entertain the audience. While writing this well
constructed article, Manrique keeps his audience in mind by providing exceptionally detailed
experiences that he had on his journey. He is able to portray his journey as if the reader were truly
there alongside him. The reader is able to imagine the drastic situations he went through on his
journey due to the monsoon floods, voracious mosquitos, appetizing peacocks, violent fever and
affronted villagers as well as threatening Mughal officials. He is also well aware of what he must do in
order to continue his narrative without boring his audience, give a detailed description of their
appearance and control, as well as of the arrangements made in them.

The Importance Of Work In The Feminine Mystique, By Betty...
The Importance of Work is an essay from The Feminine Mystique, by Betty Friedan. The whole essay
talks about how humans can contribute to the society with their full capacities through work and that
women should hold jobs equivalent to men. Friedan insists that men and women need work that
satisfies their creativity and contributes to human society. Today, doing paid work is a necessity
because it helps us get through the day wether for our needs or our pleasures. The money earned from
work supports the whole family. According to Mrs. Olive Schreiner, if women did not win back their
right to a full share of honored and useful work, women s mind and muscle would weaken in a
parasitic state; her offspring, male and female would weaken progressively, and civilization itself
would deteriorate. (Friedan 8) I strongly agree with this statement. I believe that the work ethic of
most generations are influenced by parents. It is obvious that we look up to our parents. If the parents
do not show any desire to work, their children will copy them and will not contribute to society. If a
mother who is a stay at home mother or has a different job does not work hard or does not show any
work ethic, her children will look up to her and follow her footsteps and eventually civilization would
deteriorate. (Friedan 8) Friedan implies that doing work is the only way to create a meaningful life.
However, I do not agree with Friedan s implication because I think there are a million ways to create a
meaningful life. Work is an important necessity which can help you to live good and obtain your
wants. Although work should not be the most important or your main priority in life. Work should not
be the meaning of your life. There are far more important things in life than work. Work is just the
reason you are be able to afford things that are meaningful to you. For me, we need to work in order to
support our family and to satisfy their needs, to be able to help relatives or friends when they are in
need, and to satisfy you own needs. God, family, friends and your hobbies should be the one to bring
meaning to your life. Work is just the reason we can make things work and make it by. In the essay,
Friedan believes that a woman

Have you ever surfed the web and received a popup alerting you a threat is detected? If so, you are not
alone. This is a very common issue web browsers and organizations face. In order to resolve or
prevent such issues, it is key to learn about the security of your network. Network security is the
protection of networks that help secure files and directories of a computer. It helps protect the user
from hackers, virus attacks, misuse and prevents unauthorized access. The importance of learning and
becoming aware of network security is important for protecting yourself and others around you. I will
be discussing the common type of attacks, methods to protect your computer from harm and discuss
what the future may hold for network security.
There are many attacks that can be associated with network security, eavesdropping, viruses/malware
and Trojans, phishing, IP spoofing attack and lastly denial of service. Eavesdropping, has two
subcategories passive and active. Passive eavesdropping refers to someone listening to a phone call, or
reading a chat email (Daya, Bhavya). Active eavesdropping refers to the hacker physically going in
and distressing the conversation (Daya, Bhavya). This type of attack allows the hacker to steal
confidential information. In this circumstance, it is important to have some sort of network security
because having someone listening in on a personal conversation can be detrimental. This can be

Darfur Rebellion Essay
In spring 2003, the Sudanese government promised land to Arab tribes who agreed to control the
Darfur Liberation Front (DLF) rebellion. This was the foundation of the genocide. In April of 2003,
rebels from the DLF attacked the Sudanese air force base in Al Fashir. The DLF divided into two
units: the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).
In July 2003, militias were formed by nomadic Arab tribes. They were named the Janjaweed, which
means devil on horseback in Arab. The Janjaweed and the Sudanese government wreak havoc
throughout Darfur by kidnapping Darfuris, burning and looting villages, and raping and killing their
victims. In early 2004, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) makes formal refugee camps ... Show more

Chad by the end of 2004, around 100,000 were dead. On September 9, 2004, the conflict in Darfur
was declared a Genocide. Some of the other countries involved blame the Sudanese government
because they have done nothing to help the citizens of Darfur, but the UN doesn t agree. On January 9,
2005, the Sudanese government and the SPLM/A sign the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the
Second Sudanese Civil War ends. In March 2005, the people who violated the ceasefire in Darfur have

Southern White Supremacy and Black Civil Rights 1863-1877...
Having endured the brutality of slavery and the uncertainty of war, America s blacks enjoyed a period
of relative respite during the years 1863 1877. With slavery abolished, the South underwent
reconstruction within every component of its unsteady structure. However, one must measure the
success of this reconstruction with the criteria of political, social and economic changes in mind. The
amendments of the 1860s gave blacks greater political freedom, but were only upheld by the military
force of the Northern army; blacks developed their first education and religious institutions, but only
within a segregated framework; and economically, the black population worked long, hard hours

During the Reconstruction years of 1863 65, a considerable proportion of blacks occupied several
Deep South governments. In Louisiana, for example, African Americans made up 42% of the lower
and 19% of the upper houses. However, these numbers do not accurately reflect the influence wielded
by blacks in this period. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no black
whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that this
progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks were
subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the blacks found
that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white counterparts. This was a
matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by experience, of which the blacks
had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were operating in an environment that
was far from equal. Thus, one can see that although blacks made considerable progress into politics,
their development was cut short by white activity. Unequal influence inside and violence outside
government ensured that the African American politicians were prevented from working effectively
even in their limited posts. However, the fact that these people even had the remote chance of

Lab Report Experiment II
ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this lab is to extract the organic compound cinnamaldehyde from
cinnamon. The process used in order to execute the extraction of the cinnamaldehyde is called steam
distillation. After massing the Cinnamaldehyde on a scale in the laboratory, its total mass came out to
0.050 grams. The calculated percent yield came out to around 1.55%. The experiment yielded success
due to the fact that my data fell in the range (of the expected percent yield.)
PROCEDURES: The procedure for this lab experiment is located in Professor Zachary J. Poulos

After steam distillation occurred, the solvent was exposed to the open air for seven days. The

yield of Cinnamaldehyde which is between 1.00 3.00%. Due to my calculation falling in range to what

We don t usually think of Palm Sunday as a dangerous day. But it was for Jesus. And it is for us.
For Jesus, the Palm Sunday peril came both from without and from within. The external threat was
obvious.
Jesus had decided to make a public announcement of his true identity. For some time his disciples had
believed him to be the fulfillment of God s promise to send a Savior. But, until this moment, according
to Mark, Jesus had forbidden them to speak of him as Messiah. Now, it was time to go public.
Zechariah had prophesied that the Messiah would arrive riding on a donkey. And that, quite
intentionally, is how Jesus entered Jerusalem.
This messianic signal was especially dangerous because it coincided with the feast of
Passover. Passover, with its remembrance of the ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1 Introduction
Uranium should be produced in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible way because this is
important for consumers, producers and society as a whole. The production of uranium through
hydrometallurgical processes such as leaching, ion exchange, solid liquid separation and solvent
extraction has not been without controversy, especially during the early stages of the industry.
Nowadays, the industry has changed drastically and a lot more can be done to ensure that safety is a
number one priority.
2 Safety issues
The process of mining uranium releases radon into the atmosphere as well as other heavy metals if not
properly managed. Radon is a colourless, tasteless gas and exposure to high levels can increase the
chances of getting cancer. As a result, every country that has nuclear facilities, has regulations to
ensure public land, air and water (both surface and groundwater) are protected now and in the future
(Vance, 2014).
The erosion of tailings and waste rock facilities has led to contaminants (either solid or in
ground/surface water) entering

Themes in The Invisible Man by H.G Wells
The Invisible Man has many possible themes. There are multiple examples of different themes in the
novel. Most of them can almost fall under the same idea. The main theme for the novel is how
excessive greed can have unintended consequences. The main character, Griffin, goes mad with the
power of being invisible. It gets to the point that he is not even trying to just stay hidden anymore, he
is just trying to cause as much mayhem in the country as possible. One of the first instances of greed is
when he starts to take advantage of Mrs. Hall, the woman who owns the Coach Horses Inn. Mrs. Hall

to him wrapping his head up. Griffin keeps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gothic Motifs Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
The novel Dracula is a very popular book that was written in the form of Gothic Literature. This novel
was written by Bram Stoker in the Victorian Age. A large portion of this piece of writing deals with
many famous Gothic motifs. Gothic Literature combines the usual Gothic horror with fiction and
Romanticism (Wikipedia). A motif is a distinctive symbol or dominant idea used in literature. So
therefore, a Gothic motif is a literary symbol that usually combines fiction with either horror or
romance. Bram Stoker s usage of Gothic motifs not only helps define Dracula as a piece of Gothic
Literature, but also helps the reader become better acquainted with what is happening in the novel.
Gothic motifs are found in many different forms in pieces of work, and if readers are already
accustomed to these motifs, it makes reading Dracula clearer and easier. Stoker uses many different
Gothic motifs throughout this novel, but there are only a few that are the more important and stand out
from the rest. These motifs are: castles and strange places, power and constraint, and revenants.
Castles and strange places are important motifs in Dracula because the entire first section of the story
involves Johnathan Harker making a trip up to Castle Dracula in Transylvania―a very strange place.
The Count s castle in Dracula, like any other castle described in Gothic Literature, is viewed as an old,
deserted structure of terror. Castles in this time period were thought of as haunted and imprisoning,

Brain On Love
The Brain on Love
All relationships change the brain but the most important ones are the intimate bonds that cultivate or
ruin us, that shape one s memories, emotions and personality. Love carries multiple definitions but in
one s own words, love is a deep emotion of affection and attachment toward others. It s been a
significant theme for artists for thousands of years, being a source of inspiration for poetry, music,
literature, paintings, and many other fine arts. Due to the biological and evolutionary perspective on
love, different parts of the brain activate love and trigger neurotransmitters, which causes the variety

The human brain contains more than 1000 neurons. According to the articles, Brain on Love , Love: A
Biological, Psychological and Philosophical Study , and Love is more than just a kiss: A
Neurobiological Perspective on Love and Affection , oxytocin, vasopressin, and dopamine are just a
few of the neurotransmitters that release chemical responses in the brain when love occurs. Oxytocin
is in nuclei of the hypothalamus and releases into the circulation by the pituitary gland (Boer, Buel,
and Horst). Oxytocin plays an important role in pair bonding and romantic love. It encourages
cuddling between lovers and increases pleasure during lovemaking (Chapman). Furthermore, oxytocin
specifically activates a female s emotions of affection, trust, and security towards others (Brain on
Love, 14). Vasopressin is quite like oxytocin in that it also triggers pair bonding. Especially in
animals, vasopressin allows pair bonding to occur when two animals develop a strong attachment to
each other, which then leads to mating and breeding. (Brain on Love, 14). Dopamine plays several
roles in the human body, not just in the brain and is crucial when falling in love. Specifically, in the
brain, dopamine plays a significant role in attraction. It stimulates the hypothalamus to release
multiple hormones (Chapman). Dopamine is associated as the pleasure system of the

Steve Jobs Abuse
Steve Jobs was an autocratic leader. He used abuse and threats to motivate Apple employees. Jobs also

own personal vision for Apple products.
First of all Jobs abused employees to encourage them. He would yell obscenities that downgraded his
workers so that they would push themselves further. Debi Coleman, an Apple employee, was often
yelled at by Jobs during board meetings. His words were clear, she wasn t good enough and neither
was her work. Although the criticism was activating it still left the feeling of fear in his workers,
which many autocratic leaders leave with their people so that they follow orders.
Secondly, because, early in Apple history, Jobs would make the larger decisions and use manipulation

The uniting bowl provides a place where everything bonds Before we create anything we should
provide a space and place for it to form. The empty bowl provides the ingredients a place to unite and

the stage of kneading. The bowl s shape caused all contents to arrive at the center at the same time,
therefore the force of mixing caused the integration between them. A woman s belly is envisioned as a

  • 2. My Writing For Health Class I don t remember how old I was, or even what grade I was in. After all, several decades have gone by since then. What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my mother suddenly altered our usual homework chatter. Typically, I d shout out how to spell a word and then mom would holler back the series of letters, steadily and three at a time. But not that day. What do you mean, look it up myself? I hollered back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she washed up from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever. Look it up yourself. She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn t do so well on my last spelling quiz? No mom, I m not doing spelling, I m writing my report for health class. I tried again, pencil still poised mid sentence on the blue line of the paper waiting for the letters to come. That s ok. The dictionary s right there on your shelf. She replied with that parental hint of finality. But mom... I groaned the words, how am I supposed to look it up if I don t know how to spell it? Only the sounds of her motions around the kitchen came as a reply. I ll never get to go outside and play. I muttered to myself before moving woodenly over to wrestle with the giant tome that was my mother s dictionary. I didn t appreciate it (at all) at the time, as children so often don t, but occasionally mothers actually do know best. This proved to be a significant juncture in my literacy development, not ... Average supine blood pressure was calculated via three sphygmomanometer measurements after 30 minutes of rest. Lind et al. measured a set of 23 POPs in the serum using high resolution chromatography/ high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS), including 16 PCB congeners, 5 OC pesticides, OCDD, and one brominated biphenyl ether congener, and lipid normalized the values. They used a logistic regression model to assess POP levels and prevalent hypertension, defined as measured BP ≥ 140/90 mmHg or use of antihypertensives, adjusting for gender, BMI, smoking status, exercise, and education. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of Soda Ban 1Why has there been so much fuss about New York City s attempt to impose a soda ban,1 or more precisely, a ban on large size sugary drinks ? After all, people can still get as much soda as they want. This isn t Prohibition. It s just that getting it would take slightly more effort. So, why is this such a big deal? 1 soda ban In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume. The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law. 2 Obviously, it s not about soda. It s because such a ban suggests that sometimes we need to be stopped from doing foolish stuff, and this has become, in contemporary American politics, highly controversial, no matter how trivial the particular issue. Give us complete liberty, and, barring natural disasters, we ll end up where we want to be. It s a nice vision, one that makes us feel proud of ourselves. But it s false. 5John Stuart Mill2 wrote in 1859 that the only justifiable reason for interfering in someone s freedom of action was to prevent harm to others. Canada, being the second biggest country in the world, is home to numerous biomes, many forms of natural resources and a very diverse population. However, Canada is united by the different patchworks of regions that creates it and is dependent on them to grow. Just like how geographers define regions, the regions themselves define the country. The contrast between the northern tundra contrasted with the milder border defining south gives the impression that Canada is much colder than it actually is. Thus, the regions that urban citizens are concerned about may not be the same type of regions that geographers are studying. For the majority of the population in Canada, regions do not define what type of land they live but the types of resources, food, and culture they interact with in their daily lives. Living in an urban or suburban society, the natural resources nor the types of terrain matter little to them. However, the lingering aspects of early settlers still affects the city dwellers greatly. For instance, the difference in culture between coastal cities and interior cities could affect the lifestyle and habits of its inhabitants in unpredictable ways. Even in current times, the importance of regions for newly immigrants can determine key variables such as accessibility to employment, English language classes, people of similar cultures or situations, proximity to food/clothing/healthcare can determine livability in the Toronto Metropolitan Area. Instead of natural resources, the crucial resources for these refuges are the ability to be able to survive by obtain the ability to communicate and the ability to make money. • 11. Double Muscling Selective breeding Selective breeding is a process where animal and plant breeders select individuals with desirable traits and breed them to produce offspring with these desirable traits, which are determined by desirable alleles in the selected organism s genotype. This produces offspring with favourable traits. (3) The animal that will be discussed is the Belgian blue cattle. The Belgian blue cattle has the characteristic of what is called double muscling. Double muscling is caused by the recessive mutation of the myostatin gene, and naturally occurs. (12) The myostatin sequence present in Belgian blue cattle is an 11 nucleotide deletion in the third exon which causes a frame shift that eliminates virtually all of the mature, active region of the molecule .(14) It prevents the control of muscle growth, and causes there to be more muscle fibres. However, it is with sacrificing other important body functions such as reproductions, and normal fat and bone deposition. (12) This creates cattle that have up to 40% more muscle mass than other normal cattle. Most of the extra muscle is lean meat. • 12. Analysis Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Signed Into Law Following his election in 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law something radical for its time: The Social Security Act. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line. Simply put, Social Security is a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a minimal source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average person s yearly income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein benefits are decided by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding scale with caps (United States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much higher for people of lower incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher incomes (Benefit). Both the scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social Security accumulates its funds into a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US Treasury Securities, where interest is accumulated and put back into the fund. Social Security s benefits are not affected by the investments. Since 1982, the Social Security trust fund has experienced a net increase and in 2015, the asset reserves sit at 2.8 trillion dollars (Financial). Despite this, the misinformed often point their fingers at the trust fund and claim that it is on its last leg, and will soon run out. Every few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Procrastination Of His Father s Death In Hamlet, By... Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, is a very complex play with many catechisms scholars study to this day. One such question relates to Hamlet s procrastination for vengeance of his father s death. Confronted by the ghost of his father, Hamlet is instructed to revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (Shakespeare I.v.31), yet he goes on to tarry the act for almost the entirety of the play. This brings about many ideas as to why he took such delay and the effect it had on the characters involved and the play itself as a whole. Hamlet had promised the ghost that [he], with wings as swift/ as meditation or the thoughts of love/ may sweep to [his] revenge (Shakespeare I.v.35 7). This, to an unfamiliar reader, would seem very straightforward, yet Hamlet speaks with no cause. He procrastinates so much that, later in the play, the ghost reappears to remind him to not forget. This visitation / Is but to whet thy almost blunted purpose (Shakespeare III.iv.136 7). His father literally comes back as a ghost to remind Hamlet that he is supposed to be seeking revenge. Hamlet seems so uninterested in the idea of actually going through with avenging his father s death; rather, he dwells on it and falls into depression, not acting on his anger or instruction whatsoever. Hamlet himself does not recognize a reason for his dally. He is extremely upset by his inability to enact vengeance. It deeply upsets him that an actor in a dream of passion... should weep (Shakespeare II.ii.579 87) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Pro-D Synthesis Lab Report Endogenous synthesis of vitamin D takes place in two steps. In first step the ultraviolet (UV B) spectrum (wave length 290 360 nm) impinges on human skin and facilitates the conversion of 7 dehydrocholesterol present in the plasma membrane of the cells in upper skin layers, mainly in the stratum basale and the stratum spinosum to pro vitamin D3. UV light B breaks the B ring of 7 dehydrocholesterol to form a pre D isomer26 27. In second step the Pro vitamin D3 which is inherently unstable rapidly isomerizes to D3 in a thermo sensitive but non catalytic process. With continued exposure of UV B, Pro D3 is converted to biologically inactive lumisterol . Tachysterol is also formed but like pro D3 it does not accumulate with extended UV radiations24,28. The formation of lumisterol and tachysterol is reversible and can be converted back to pre D3 as pre D3 levels fall. Thus prolonged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 21. The Importance Of Work In The Feminine Mystique, By Betty... The Importance of Work is an essay from The Feminine Mystique, by Betty Friedan. The whole essay talks about how humans can contribute to the society with their full capacities through work and that women should hold jobs equivalent to men. Friedan insists that men and women need work that satisfies their creativity and contributes to human society. Today, doing paid work is a necessity because it helps us get through the day wether for our needs or our pleasures. The money earned from work supports the whole family. According to Mrs. Olive Schreiner, if women did not win back their right to a full share of honored and useful work, women s mind and muscle would weaken in a parasitic state; her offspring, male and female would weaken progressively, and civilization itself would deteriorate. (Friedan 8) I strongly agree with this statement. I believe that the work ethic of most generations are influenced by parents. It is obvious that we look up to our parents. If the parents do not show any desire to work, their children will copy them and will not contribute to society. If a mother who is a stay at home mother or has a different job does not work hard or does not show any work ethic, her children will look up to her and follow her footsteps and eventually civilization would deteriorate. (Friedan 8) Friedan implies that doing work is the only way to create a meaningful life. However, I do not agree with Friedan s implication because I think there are a million ways to create a meaningful life. Work is an important necessity which can help you to live good and obtain your wants. Although work should not be the most important or your main priority in life. Work should not be the meaning of your life. There are far more important things in life than work. Work is just the reason you are be able to afford things that are meaningful to you. For me, we need to work in order to support our family and to satisfy their needs, to be able to help relatives or friends when they are in need, and to satisfy you own needs. God, family, friends and your hobbies should be the one to bring meaning to your life. Work is just the reason we can make things work and make it by. In the essay, Friedan believes that a woman ... Having endured the brutality of slavery and the uncertainty of war, America s blacks enjoyed a period of relative respite during the years 1863 1877. With slavery abolished, the South underwent reconstruction within every component of its unsteady structure. However, one must measure the success of this reconstruction with the criteria of political, social and economic changes in mind. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Reconstruction years of 1863 65, a considerable proportion of blacks occupied several Deep South governments. In Louisiana, for example, African Americans made up 42% of the lower and 19% of the upper houses. However, these numbers do not accurately reflect the influence wielded by blacks in this period. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no black whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that this progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks were subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the blacks found that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white counterparts. This was a matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by experience, of which the blacks had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were operating in an environment that was far from equal. Thus, one can see that although blacks made considerable progress into politics, their development was cut short by white activity. Unequal influence inside and violence outside government ensured that the African American politicians were prevented from working effectively even in their limited posts. For some time his disciples had believed him to be the fulfillment of God s promise to send a Savior. But, until this moment, according to Mark, Jesus had forbidden them to speak of him as Messiah. The production of uranium through hydrometallurgical processes such as leaching, ion exchange, solid liquid separation and solvent extraction has not been without controversy, especially during the early stages of the industry. Nowadays, the industry has changed drastically and a lot more can be done to ensure that safety is a number one priority. 2 Safety issues The process of mining uranium releases radon into the atmosphere as well as other heavy metals if not properly managed. • 36. Gothic Motifs Of Bram Stoker s Dracula The novel Dracula is a very popular book that was written in the form of Gothic Literature. This novel was written by Bram Stoker in the Victorian Age. A large portion of this piece of writing deals with many famous Gothic motifs. Gothic Literature combines the usual Gothic horror with fiction and Romanticism (Wikipedia). A motif is a distinctive symbol or dominant idea used in literature. So therefore, a Gothic motif is a literary symbol that usually combines fiction with either horror or romance. Bram Stoker s usage of Gothic motifs not only helps define Dracula as a piece of Gothic Literature, but also helps the reader become better acquainted with what is happening in the novel. Gothic motifs are found in many different forms in pieces of work, and if readers are already accustomed to these motifs, it makes reading Dracula clearer and easier. Stoker uses many different Gothic motifs throughout this novel, but there are only a few that are the more important and stand out from the rest. These motifs are: castles and strange places, power and constraint, and revenants. Castles and strange places are important motifs in Dracula because the entire first section of the story involves Johnathan Harker making a trip up to Castle Dracula in Transylvania―a very strange place. According to the articles, Brain on Love , Love: A Biological, Psychological and Philosophical Study , and Love is more than just a kiss: A Neurobiological Perspective on Love and Affection , oxytocin, vasopressin, and dopamine are just a few of the neurotransmitters that release chemical responses in the brain when love occurs. Oxytocin is in nuclei of the hypothalamus and releases into the circulation by the pituitary gland (Boer, Buel, and Horst). Oxytocin plays an important role in pair bonding and romantic love. It encourages cuddling between lovers and increases pleasure during lovemaking (Chapman). Furthermore, oxytocin specifically activates a female s emotions of affection, trust, and security towards others (Brain on Love, 14). Vasopressin is quite like oxytocin in that it also triggers pair bonding. Especially in animals, vasopressin allows pair bonding to occur when two animals develop a strong attachment to each other, which then leads to mating and breeding. (Brain on Love, 14). Dopamine plays several roles in the human body, not just in the brain and is crucial when falling in love. Specifically, in the brain, dopamine plays a significant role in attraction. It stimulates the hypothalamus to release multiple hormones (Chapman). Dopamine is associated as the pleasure system of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Steve Jobs Abuse Steve Jobs was an autocratic leader. He used abuse and threats to motivate Apple employees. Jobs also made the larger decisions early in the company, by influencing others opinions. As well as using his own personal vision for Apple products. First of all Jobs abused employees to encourage them. He would yell obscenities that downgraded his workers so that they would push themselves further. Debi Coleman, an Apple employee, was often yelled at by Jobs during board meetings. His words were clear, she wasn t good enough and neither was her work. Although the criticism was activating it still left the feeling of fear in his workers, which many autocratic leaders leave with their people so that they follow orders. Secondly, because, early in Apple history, Jobs would make the larger decisions and use manipulation to have people agree with him. He had a way of using his charisma to make his own way of thinking sound better than the opposition s, so that they would agree with him. This resulted in engineers and other employees not having any say in the product they were creating. For example, the engineers who created the first Macintosh had the inside layout so that it gave the computer the best way to function. Jobs however, saw the inside of the Mac and ordered that it be laid out in a more pleasing appearance. This request was thought ridiculous by the engineers because no one was even going to see the inside of the computers anyways, but Jobs made them redo the inside for his own aesthetic. This shows that he didn t allow a lot of freedom in Apple and instead hovered over every detail of the Apple products, which didn t let any of the employees have a relevant opinion on the product. That is the same as any autocratic leader making sure everyone obeys them and doesn t have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Commentators say that my own sword means my own prayer and that my bow means my request . The sword s power is from its own sharpness, the bow s power depends on the archer; therefore, the more the archer pulls, the higher the arrow will fly. As for our prayers: we have prayers that are like sword they are the ones that our sages taught us, and they are very powerful and holy.
