TECHNIQUES
Analyze Leaners 
 Teaching children to recognize various literary 
techniques to create their own fictional works 
to 3rd graders. There are 22 students, 12 girls 
and 10 boys. There are 3 students with IEPs.
State Objective 
 My students will be able to recognize the use 
of various literary techniques to create their 
own fictional works. Reading Dr. Seuss books, 
talk about his literary techniques, writing a 
class story, write their own tongue twisters, and 
to research different literary techniques within a 
week with 90% accuracy.
 Monday: Read Oh, The Places You Will Go 
 Discuss what literary techniques are 
 Tuesday: Bartholomew and the Oobleck 
 Create a class story using the different literary techniques 
 Wednesday: Yertle the Turtle 
 Write their own tongue twisters 
 Thursday: Hunches in Bunches 
 Use computers to research different literary techniques 
that other authors use 
 Friday: The Sneeches 
 Create their own stories using the researched literary 
techniques
Use of Technology 
 Use computer to conduct research on literary 
techniques 
 Watch videos of tongue twisters to generate 
ideas for their assignment 
 Look at pictures of Dr.Seuss, and read a short 
part of his biography 
 Look up other literary techniques that as a 
class can talk about
