The Major Tenets Of CumminsModel Of Second Language...
In the book Why Tesol?, it states that the major tenets of Cummins model of second language
acquisition is the framework that focuses on the distinction between social language and academic
language. Cummins suggests that academic language takes longer to acquire and social language is
easier because it is in the here and now . Cummins Quadrant Model consists of 4 quadrants: Quadrant
1 Social language; Quadrant 2 Target language; Quadrant 3 Target language; Quadrant 4 Academic
language. (p. 152). Although, there are many models of second language acquisition, I felt that
Cummin s model was a great representative of where Carlos second language acquisition has fallen
behind. When beginning remediation with Carlos my first priority is to provide him with a solid
foundation of academic vocabulary that will assist him throughout his learning experience. This
process is beneficial when teaching content area. In order for Carlos to succeed in the classroom he
will need to become familiar and be able to comprehend the content area. Before beginning each
lesson I would have Carlos share his knowledge of the vocabulary words and academic language that
is beneficial to the lesson. This will provide insight to see which areas I need to review and which
areas he has a strong foundation in. Next, I would provide Carlos with various opportunities to obtain
the vocabulary needed in each content area. To develop his vocabulary I would provide him with a
guide prior to

Advantages Of A Matrix Organization
What is a matrix organization? A matrix organization is an organization where employees report their
job activities to more than one superior or manager simultaneously. In other words, employees have a
dual reporting obligation to both a departmental manager and a product manager. In describing a
matrix organization, Bauer and Erdogan (2009) explains that employees reporting to department
managers are also pooled together to form project or product teams (p. 326) and in that case,
individual employee report to the project manager and the departmental manager. For instance, the
Dutch electronics giant, Phillips uses matrix management system with its managers reporting to both a
geographical manager and a product division manager simultaneously. ... Show more content on

First, the matrix structure violates the unity of command structure which stipulates that individual
employee in the traditional organization reports to one superior or manager at a time; in a matrix
organization, employees report to two managers which is a vital challenge to employees and managers
involved. This system hinders the coordination of task between employees and their various managers.
Secondly, as a result of reporting to two managers, conflict cannot be avoided. In other words, each of
the presiding managers would want to determine or have a greater say in assigning a task to an
employee while the other manager also sees it as a legitimate obligation to have an employee fulfill
his tasks and report to him.. Bauer and Erdogan ( 2009) explains that the presence of two managers
regulating the behavior of an employee would greatly increase the level of conflict among the two
manager. Similarly, matrix structure brings about role conflict. For instance, an employee may have an
ongoing role to perform in a project and the departmental manager could find it necessary to assign a
separate or different role for the employee, therefore, create a conflict on the role of the employee in
the project. While it may seem beneficial for managers to be interdependent on each other, it could
also be a challenge to managers because they cannot impose their intentions on a project without

The Anglo-Saxon Justice System
The criminal justice system changed over time from the centuries during the Anglo Saxon time period
to the centuries of the Middle Ages. Justice transformed from a savage way of punishment to more
organized and civilized. The Canterbury Tales and Beowulf reflect the change, and even the
continuity, of punishments due to legal justice of the Anglo Saxon and the Middle Ages.
Anglo Saxon Justice System
Justice System Overview
The way the Anglo Saxons handled legal justice in their time period could be described as primitive
and almost all disciplinary. The justice system in Anglo Saxon times was not highly developed and
was mostly focused on punishment for crime or issues of morality. (~Church and Law in the Early
Middle Ages~)

Overall, many aspects of the justice system in the Anglo Saxon time period seemed to be similar to
that of the Middle Ages. For example, the punishments were often handled directly, according to the
crime. However, the Anglo Saxons set a price to crime, using wergilds, where crimes in the Middle
Ages had specific punishments. The justice system has continued to be important to societies for
centuries to ensure order, and laws from the centuries of the Anglo Saxons to the Middle Ages have
either changed or remained the same, according to

Persepolis Identity Essay
People grow up in different way, affected by many different things as they grow and mature, during
the process people change perspectives and ideals. In the book Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, a
middle eastern girl who is coming of age, finds that her environment changes her as the country that
she is in goes through an unstable violent state. With the rise of multiple changes, Marji s family must
learn how to adjust to the changing times. While Marji becomes a bystander to the persecution,
violence ,and revolution, the main theme of the book is stay true to one s self and forming one s true
identity through their own will. Marjane Satrapi shows how the quirky, but simple and straightforward
communist child in a changing world to a grown young adult who is confused about herself and the
world around her.
The story starts pre revolution, while Marji, the main character is 6 years old. She has a concrete grasp
of her identity, even though very elementary and childish . At this age she only has one goal in her
mind: At the age of six, I was already sure I was the last prophet. (6 Satrapi). She has clean cut idea of
what she wants to do, which is to not discriminate on a class basis: I wanted to be a prophet because
our maid did not eat with us (6). Also, Marji she wanted to ease her grandmother s suffering : ...and
above all because my grandmother s knees always ached (6). Marji even attempts to be an avid

The Heroes Of The American West
Every society has its heroes, and often those heroes are identified with a group which is revered and
idolized for its bravery in defense of the noble objectives of the society. In the American West, that
group has for many years been the Cowboys. Whether defending women and children against the
threats from Native American Indians or other armed villains, or participating in one on one duels (or
draws) against the outlaws, the Cowboys have been regarded as warriors who are the symbols of
protection and heroism. In Arthurian society, that role of warrior was played by the Knights. There are
many parallels between the modern Cowboy and the medieval Knight, and I agree with Felicity Riddy
who observed that [t]he medieval knight is like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They needed such a large hat to protect their faces from the sun while riding in the western heat. The
bandana around their necks was to help them breathe amid all the dust, and the chaps on their pants
were to help them ride their horses and carry their guns. Anyone who sees a picture of a person attired
in this way immediately identifies that person as a cowboy and associates them with characteristics of
adventure and bravery.
The same can be said for the medieval Knight. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain s
armor is described in great detail by the author to emphasize the importance of it. When Sir Gawain is
leaving to go face the Green Knight, he is described putting on, the great pile of gilded war gear
glittered...complete with knee pieces, polished bright and connecting at the knee with gold knobbed
hinges. All the decoration and gold accents on his armor signify how important and wealthy he was.
To indicate his status as Knight, he carries his shield with a pentangle. The Pentangle is proper to this
prince of knights...therefore it goes with Sir Gawain and his gleaming armour...Gawain was reputed
good and, like gold well refined, He was devoid of all villainy, every virtue displaying in the field. Sir
Gawain s armor not only identified him as a Knight but specifically by name and honor. These
appearances of the Knight and Cowboy became so recognizable that they became symbolic. The mere

Argumentative Essay On Law School
What do lawyers learn in law school? They learn to win... what they ve got to start thinking is how do
they solve problems. Benjamin Carson Law school can be a painfully long process. For some, it s
worth it. For others, the painfully long process can be stressful and mentally challenging. Although the
path to becoming a lawyer is very demanding, a person can reduce the stress by studying the positive,
negative, and mentally challenging aspects that he or she may face. Some may worry about the affects
of law school, but they need to remember there are a lot of positives in it. First of all, it all depends on
the type of person you are in law school to see if your mental health will be affected. The Wellness
Committee at Indiana Law School is a safe haven for students suffering from depression, anxiety,
extreme stress, or any other types of mental health issues. So, considering that some law schools have
clinics and doctors to help the mentally sick, people can also seek advice or help off site, or off
campus. For instance, the JLAP (Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program) is not on a specific campus
but it is a place where you can seek assistance. The program will keep all of their patient s problems
and concerns confidential so they need no stress about their peers knowing. (Covington)
Just because you have heard about the struggles of some people who have had a mental illness from
their college era doesn t mean that you will too. For example, individuals that choose

Rejection and Isolation in A Portrait of the Artist as a...
As James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man unfolds, the central theme of isolation and
rejection becomes evident. From birth to adolescence, the protagonist of the story, Stephen Dedalus,
responds to his experiences throughout life with actions of rejection and isolation. He rebels against
his environment and isolates himself in schoolwork, family, religion and his art, successively. James
Joyce uses Stephen Dedalus responses of isolation and rejection to illustrate the journey that the artist
must take to achieve adulthood.
Even as a young boy, Stephen experienced rejection and isolation at school. On the playground
Stephen felt his body [too] small and weak amid the [other] players (Joyce 8). His ... Show more

When the conformists damn Lord Byron as a heretic Stephen responds by affirming Byron s
superiority over Tennyson. The shocked and enraged boys attack Stephen, pinning him against the
barbed wire fence:
Admit that Byron was no good

Admit
No. No.
At last after a fury of plunges he wrenched himself free. His tormentors set off towards Jones s Road,
laughing and jeering at him, while he, torn and flushed and panting, stumbled after them blinded with
tears, clenching his fists madly and sobbing (Joyce 82).
At college, a similar incident supports this idea of isolation caused by rebellion and rejection of
authority. When Stephen refuses to sign a petition to ask for world peace, he suffers criticism from his
friends. Amidst the criticism, however, Stephen dissociates himself from his schoolmates and his
environment by saying, When the soul of a man is born in this country there are nets flung at it to hold
it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by those nets
(Joyce 203). Although Stephen isolates himself by rejecting authority and rebelling against
conformity, he eventually breaks free from their restrictions to find personal freedom essential for the
artist to reach maturity.
During his adolescent years, Stephen is forced to stay at home due to his father s financial problems
causing him to reject his schoolmates and

What Is The Theme Of The God Of Small Things
The God of Small Things opens with memories of a family mourn around a drowned child s
sarcophagus. There are countless examples of miserable sequences in the novel. Throughout the story,
all characters are portrayed in a very sympathetic manner. The reader gets morally strenuous and

The God of Small Things is a family saga taking of a remote village in central Travancore region of
South Kerala, the rustic idyll set in the author s childhood and told endearingly through the stream of
consciousness of a small girl. The story is purely autobiographical. In the novel, the writer breaks the

the three Erlenmeyer conical flasks labeled GP 1, GP 2 and GP 3 respectively. The mixtures were then
transferred to 250 mL plastic bottles and shaken in a ball mill for 5 hours (López et al., 2014). The
fluid matrix was then poured into ceramic crucibles and cured in an oven at a temperature of 80 °C for
12 hours. The temperature conditions was then adjusted to 200 °C for another 12 hours to facilitate
complete polycondensation (López et al., 2014). The ultimate geopolymer materials obtained were

Ending Welfare
Ending Welfare as We Know It by Meredith Vieira
Before Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) became what it is known as today, it was
called Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). AFDC was a grant program created to allow
states to fund cash welfare payments for needy children who struggle with parental support because of
a father or mother s absence, unemployment, incapacity, or death. It was established by the Social
Security Act of 1935. When President Clinton signed the Personal Responsibility and Work
Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) in 1996, it replaced AFDC and its administration, the Job
Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS) program, and the Emergency Assistance (EA)
program with TANF, a cash welfare block grant. The belief for this transition was that Americans

The purpose of TANF was to discourage teens from having more babies by requiring them to live at
home and also stay in school to qualify for the benefits. The child exclusion law was also created to
reduce the birth of children since the old system allowed access for women to receive a raise in
welfare benefits for every child they had. AFDC seems to work for Elba compared to TANF. In my
opinion, I feel that the policies are actually helpful because it is designed for women to focus on other
ways for support, instead of the sole reliance of welfare. I believe the policies promote self sufficiency
and responsibility by requiring minors to continue their education. It also encourages women to work
towards a more financially stable future. In Elba s case, however, I find this very difficult for her to
attain, considering the fact that she is a minor and may not have all the education on what resources or
services are available. She may not understand what she actually needs to do in order to receive
benefits or have guidance on how to become more

Automobiles and Pollution Essay
Automobiles and Pollution
In years past, levels of air, noise, and sight pollution were much lower than they are today. There are
more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience higher levels of pollution than before.
The automobile is probably the leading contributor pollution in our cities. They release toxic
emissions into our atmosphere. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution.
They are noisy (especially if you are living near the highway), and they take up valuable space in the
form of vast parking lots that are unpleasing to the eye. Why are there more automobiles on the road

Americans are known for our passion for the automobile. The automobile symbolizes freedom and
independence. Freedom is the backbone of our country. Many of our historical documents were
written with freedom as the major theme. For example, the declaration of independence proposes
freedom from an oppressive government. Freedom is a concept that most Americans take pride in. For
this reason, the automobile is attractive to us. If you own your own automobile, you are free to go any
place you like whenever you want. You suddenly become independent and you no longer have to rely
on other people for rides. This is a common feeling among 16 year olds. With the acquisition of the
drivers license comes a whole new world of opportunity and responsibility.
Another factor to be considered is the American concept of time. Time is money. Because of this we
are usually in a hurry, so we hop in our cars and off we go, late for some sort of an appointment. We
could use alternate forms of transportation like busses or railways which decrease pollution by
decreasing the total number of cars on our roads, but these forms of transportation are not as
convenient as driving ourselves. After all, time is money and I m late for a class. I don t have time to
wait for the bus. Is this

The Events Of The 20th Century Essay
The 20th century was a time of great unrest and turmoil, wars that divided the world, superpowers in
vicious stalemates vying for the number one position, and the clashing of many new ideologies. The
Jewish people are one of the central groups that was affected by all these things and it greatly changed
them as a people. The Holocaust, a horrifying and brutal systematic slaughter of mainly Jews and
other non Aryan people, one of the world s greatest tragedies changed forever the Jewish people. The
creation of the state of Israel and the development of Zionism led to widespread division among many
Jews as some were all for the creation of a Jewish state while other were deeply against it, these
divisions only deepened at the onset of the Arab Israeli conflict as now more than 40 years of fighting
has occurred with no peace in sight (Fermaglich, lecture, 30 November 7 December 2016). The world
events of the 20th century have divided the Jewish people, the Holocaust created divisions from those
who experienced it and those who did not, along with the ideological and political divisions from the
creation of the state of Israel and the Arab Israeli conflict. Survivors from the Holocaust had to begin
their lives again once their nightmarish ordeal was done. Many returned to their homes from which
they were taken, others wanted to leave and never come back, be away from the site that tormented

Ethics And Diversity Research Paper
Two very important aspects of a counseling career are ethics and diversity. To my understanding,
ethics refers to a set of moral codes and policies created to protect a client s rights and privacy and to

relationship. Diversity is a broad term referring to different groups and subgroups of individuals. The

Some of those reasons may be for their own personal growth and understanding, coping mechanisms

Ethelred the Unready, returned to power, but died in 1016 and was succeeded by his son Edmund
Ironside, who signed a treaty that gave Cnut power over part of England after being defeated at the
Battle of Ashingdon later that year (1016). However, Edmund died a few weeks later and all of
England came under Cnut s rule. His reign brought stability after years of raids and battles.
Eventually, Denmark, Norway, and possibly parts of Sweden also came to be under his rule, forming a
vast empire that is often referred to as the Anglo Scandinavian or North Sea Empire. His son Harold
Harefoot became king when Cnut died in 1035, and served until his death in 1040. Cnut s other son,
Harthacnut, then ascended to the throne; his death in 1042 marked the end of Danish rule in England.
King Cnut s most famous quote goes as follows: Let all men know how empty and powerless is the
power of kings. For there is none worthy of the name but God, whom heaven, earth, and sea obey.

The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory Of Early Development II
The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory of Early Development II was written by Albert H. Brigance
Frances Page Gloscoe. The IED II was published by Curriculum Associates, Inc. in 1978 2004. The
test is administered individually with the age range of birth 7 years old. This test was created to
monitor a child s development. Because it was not a high stakes test, there was more room for error.
The IED II was translated into Spanish. Spanish tests were given to 8.6% of participants but since
scores were never compared to the English version of the test, there is no confirmation of reliability or
validity (Davis pg 9). Also, the Spanish version of the test is not publicly available. The purpose of the
Brigance Diagnostic IED II is to determine readiness for school, track developmental progress,
provide a range of scores needed for documenting eligibility for special education services, and enable
a comparison of children s skills within and across developmental domains in order to view strengths
and weaknesses and to determine entry points for instruction (Davis 1). It also helps in assisting with
program evaluation. The subtests in the IED II include 11 areas of development. These areas include
preambulatory motor skills, gross motor skills, fine motor, self help skills, speech and language skills,
general knowledge/comprehension, social emotional development, readiness, basic reading skills,
basic math for criterion referenced and manuscript writing (Davis pg 2). The

Analysis Of Hurricane Irma
The service I voluntarily participated in was helping victims of hurricane Irma clean up debris and cut
down trees in Key West, Florida. We were divided up into three large groups. A local church (St. Peter
Catholic Church), a water revised (John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park), and a museum (Crane
Point Museum Nature Center) were the three destinations for our cleanup crews. The team I was
placed in went to help the St. Peter Catholic church. This multicultural church is ran by an Haitian
American Priest that has been a pastor for twenty five years of his life. During the service we cut
down trees, stacked and removed debris. After about an hour and thirty minutes of this labor we
helped replenish the handmade tomatoes garden built ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to The Christian Vision of Humanity, real community is based on the sharing of self
transcendence. Koltko defined self transcendence being seeks to further a cause beyond the self and to
experience a communion beyond the boundaries of the self through peak experience. The students
along with myself who took the time out of a college students busy life to give back and do something
for others demonstrated Koltko definition of self transcendence. We made the choice to wake up on a
Saturday morning to go and give back to those uncapable of doing for themselves. Every one of us
that Saturday morning reach the final good or responsibility of each and every individual human
person because of the reliance of having a choice (Sachs). Vice as described in Sachs book, moral
depravity or corruption. In this service, hearing Maria s story saddens me and hurt me to see how the
bank works. The world we live in is degrading as a society. Maria was insisting on paying us the little
she had for or service which we kindly declined just because we were the only thing avoiding her
from losing her property. Self determination s capacity and responsibility is our human freedom. Just
seeing the reactions of the folks, we helped shaped my perspective on this idea of freedom. It made
me want to commit to being oneself and become somebody rather than

50 Simple Things You Can Do To Stay In Denial Analysis
Green living is one of the hottest topics in the 21h century since we are facing the shortage of
resources and the degradation of the environment. Waste sorting, recycling, light saving and so forth,
we regard them as basic steps of environment protection. However, in As the World Burns: 50 Simple
Things You Can Do to Stay in Denial , by Derrick Jensen, Stephanie McMillan, 2007, authors use
visual arts illustrates this way of protection is not on the right track. They pointed out that the earth
will burn out before we die out, and those simple steps we do to protect environment only reduce the
urgency but do not solving the problems. In The Politics of the Natural in U.S. History and Popular
Culture , by Noёl Sturgeon, 2009, the author discussed that advertising of popular culture would affect
negatively on the environment in future concern. Both readings use visual rhetoric to demonstrate the
current environment situation and its problem. As The World Burns plotted the background that in
exchange for gold, the U.S. government gave robot machine the authorization of eating earth, which
caused a series disaster. These are a bunny with one eye ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Enterprise Data Analysis And Visualization
Enterprise Data Analysis and Visualization: An Interview Study ABSTRACT Organizations rely on
data analysts to model customer engagement, streamline operations, improve production, inform
business decisions, and combat fraud. Numerous analysis and visualization advanced tools available
for analysts to work, but there are little research goes on how analysis happens in companies. To better
understand the enterprise analysts ecosystem, we conducted semi structured interviews with 35 data
analysts from 25 organizations. Based on our interview data, we characterize the process of industrial
data analysis and document how organizational features of an enterprise impact it. We describe
recurring pain points, outstanding challenges, and barriers to adoption for visual analytic tools.
INTRODUCTION: The researchers conducted semi structured interviews with 35 analysts from
various sectors. They asked analysts to walk them through the typical tasks they perform, the tools
analysts use, the challenges they encounter, and the organizational context in which analysis takes
place. In this paper, we present the results and analysis of these interviews. The respondents are well
described by three archetypes. We find that these archetypes vary widely in programming proficiency,
reliance on Information technology (IT) staff and diversity of tasks, and vary less in statistical
proficiency. We describe how collaboration takes place between analysts. We find that analysts seldom

Essay On Dynamite
Beginnings of Dynamite
The late 18th and the early 19th century saw the rise of the Industrial Revolution. The transcontinental
railroad across the USA was being built; in Australia and California, gold rushes were driving people
crazy trying to get rich; in Seuz, a great canal was being dug through the earth; and in England,
London s famous Underground Railroad system was being built. For these engineering projects to be
made possible for all the blasting, tunneling, trenching, mining, and excavation to be made possible
we needed explosives.
At the beginning of the industrial revolution there were two main explosives used: black powder and
nitroglycerine. Black powder had been used as early as the 1600s for construction and mining. Holes

It revolutionized the processes of constructing, demolishing, and mining. As innovations involving the
use of dynamite increased, a wide range of versatility provided a new wave of development. With the
use of dynamite, rocky, uneven surfaces could be cleared to create level platforms to build on.
Dynamite provided man with an awesome power the ability to dramatically change the face of the
earth. (Modern marvels Dynamite). We now could blast through rock at a rate unheard of with the low
power of black powder. Some of dynamite s first uses were creating trenches for irrigation systems,
blasting rock in mines and quarries, and removing trees and stumps. This adoption of dynamite started
to lead to larger, more ambitious project eventually working its way into almost every aspect of the
industrial revolution. It unleashed the power that enabled the monumental industrial development of
the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including hydro power, skyscrapers, and coal and oil
exploration. Canals and railroads, mining and construction, tunnels and harbors were all now
economically and physically possible. Even concrete could become a common construction material
once limestone could be blasted from quarries. Dynamite liberated laborers from the tiresome slaving
in mines and quarries or moving and leveling earth. What once took weeks could now be done in

The Themes Of Geography
Geography is the study of the earth surface or space as the home of humankind. Geography is not
simply about the study of maps and what is and where on the Earth, but also why it is there and not
somewhere else, sometimes referred to as location and space distribution . It also studies whether the
cause is natural or human. There are generally two fields of Geography first, Physical Geography
which studies geography and science to explain characteristics of earth such as landforms; including
mountains, rivers, glaciers, deserts, and ocean and climate that includes temperature, rainfall,
snowfall, humidity, and seasons, and things like natural resources, location of countries and capitals,
maps, features like latitude and longitude, and others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nature, or/and human. For example, within the physical geography, the study of the various forms of
the Earth especially, is called geomorphology and the study concerned with soils is called pedology .
Biogeography emphasizes mainly on biology, botany, and ecology and spatial relationship between
animals and plants in the natural sciences, and climatology is the study of the world s climates and

A Leader Who Doesn t Have Knowledge Of The Best Person As...
Leadership is a term on which no one can reach a consensus as it carries a different meaning and
weightage for each individual. Some people may consider a person as their leader who is capable of
taking them away from hardships or caring for them, or some people may consider a man steeped in
wisdom and learning to be a leader. Difference notwithstanding, there still seems to be some
commonality in all the perspectives behind the definition, which is related to choosing a best of the
best person as their leader. The simple bottom line is that, nobody wants to have a person as his leader
who doesn t have knowledge of the needs and aspirations of his people or who is not blessed with a
certain temperament foe bearing hardships for his people, nor a vision for where they should be or
how they should grow and influence the world around them.
As the founder of tech startup, it is only natural for me to pick a leader who is a true technological
visionary. It was not enough to simply pick someone who created innovative products, or created and
ran a billion dollar company. For me it would have to be someone with the vision to shape the future
and world around him, a person who could see how his works would directly impact the trajectory of
the world and its impact on the human race at large. A true visionary. Therefore, for the purpose of this
assignment I have chosen to perform a study to Elon Musk, the business magnate, engineer and
inventor to name but a few of his accolades. In

Itco321 Unit 1 Research Paper
Unit 3 IP ITCO321 Anthony Thurman Stacks are containers of objects that are inserted and then
removed according to Last In First Out (LIFO). This means that the last item inserted will be the first
item removed. Inserting an item is referred to as Pushing, while removing an item is called Popping. A
queue works a little different than a stack does, in that it follows First In First Out. So rather than
having the last object removed first, the first object is removed first. Elements can be inserted at any
time, but the only element that can be removed is the one that has been in the queue the longest.

Importance Of Invisalign And Patterns In A Restaurant
In a restaurant, before we even eat the food, before we taste it, we judge it with it s visual. If you see a
picture of food that is not appealing in the menu, even though it tastes wonderful, because of the
negative view, you do not order it. Like food, when we interview for a job, or even meet a new friend,
before they talk with you and find about your personalities, your first impression is affected by your
appearance. A bright smile can give a positive first impression. For an affable smile, straight teeth is
significant. Invisalign and braces can help you get a delightful smile. The cost and and time depends
on the patients situation. Invisalign can only treat crooked teeth, gapped teeth, overbite, underbite, and
open bite. The average cost of invisalign is 5,000 dollars. The treatment takes about six months to one
and a half year. You should keep the aligners for at least 22 hours a day. If you have ... Show more

If you have invisalign trays, you have to visit the dentist every four to six weeks. You have to change
your trays every two weeks because your teeth might turn back to how it was before if you do not.
Since you take out your aligner when you eat, you do not need to do extra cleaning for your teeth
except regular brushing and flossing. However, to clean the trays, you have to use the Invisalign
Cleaning System, which contains crystals that become a cleaning agent when it is mixed with water,
or you need to brush and rinse your trays in warm water. If you do not clean your trays, colors and
odors might stain. For braces, you have to visit the dentist about every month. Because of the wires
and brackets, a lot of food particles will get stuck. The brushing and flossing is a little more complex,
so it will take a little longer. Except this, there is no extra cleaning needed. After one of the two
treatments, you need a positioner or retainer so your teeth will not turn back to what it was like in the

  • 2. The Major Tenets Of CumminsModel Of Second Language... In the book Why Tesol?, it states that the major tenets of Cummins model of second language acquisition is the framework that focuses on the distinction between social language and academic language. Cummins suggests that academic language takes longer to acquire and social language is easier because it is in the here and now . Cummins Quadrant Model consists of 4 quadrants: Quadrant 1 Social language; Quadrant 2 Target language; Quadrant 3 Target language; Quadrant 4 Academic language. (p. 152). Although, there are many models of second language acquisition, I felt that Cummin s model was a great representative of where Carlos second language acquisition has fallen behind. When beginning remediation with Carlos my first priority is to provide him with a solid foundation of academic vocabulary that will assist him throughout his learning experience. This process is beneficial when teaching content area. In order for Carlos to succeed in the classroom he will need to become familiar and be able to comprehend the content area. Before beginning each lesson I would have Carlos share his knowledge of the vocabulary words and academic language that is beneficial to the lesson. This will provide insight to see which areas I need to review and which areas he has a strong foundation in. Next, I would provide Carlos with various opportunities to obtain the vocabulary needed in each content area. To develop his vocabulary I would provide him with a guide prior to ... In other words, employees have a dual reporting obligation to both a departmental manager and a product manager. In describing a matrix organization, Bauer and Erdogan (2009) explains that employees reporting to department managers are also pooled together to form project or product teams (p. 326) and in that case, individual employee report to the project manager and the departmental manager. For instance, the Dutch electronics giant, Phillips uses matrix management system with its managers reporting to both a geographical manager and a product division manager simultaneously. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, the matrix structure violates the unity of command structure which stipulates that individual employee in the traditional organization reports to one superior or manager at a time; in a matrix organization, employees report to two managers which is a vital challenge to employees and managers involved. This system hinders the coordination of task between employees and their various managers. Secondly, as a result of reporting to two managers, conflict cannot be avoided. In other words, each of the presiding managers would want to determine or have a greater say in assigning a task to an employee while the other manager also sees it as a legitimate obligation to have an employee fulfill his tasks and report to him.. Bauer and Erdogan ( 2009) explains that the presence of two managers regulating the behavior of an employee would greatly increase the level of conflict among the two manager. Similarly, matrix structure brings about role conflict. For instance, an employee may have an ongoing role to perform in a project and the departmental manager could find it necessary to assign a separate or different role for the employee, therefore, create a conflict on the role of the employee in the project. While it may seem beneficial for managers to be interdependent on each other, it could also be a challenge to managers because they cannot impose their intentions on a project without ... James Joyce uses Stephen Dedalus responses of isolation and rejection to illustrate the journey that the artist must take to achieve adulthood. His tormentors set off towards Jones s Road, laughing and jeering at him, while he, torn and flushed and panting, stumbled after them blinded with tears, clenching his fists madly and sobbing (Joyce 82). We made the choice to wake up on a Saturday morning to go and give back to those uncapable of doing for themselves. Every one of us that Saturday morning reach the final good or responsibility of each and every individual human person because of the reliance of having a choice (Sachs). Vice as described in Sachs book, moral depravity or corruption. In this service, hearing Maria s story saddens me and hurt me to see how the bank works. The world we live in is degrading as a society. Maria was insisting on paying us the little she had for or service which we kindly declined just because we were the only thing avoiding her from losing her property. Self determination s capacity and responsibility is our human freedom. Just seeing the reactions of the folks, we helped shaped my perspective on this idea of freedom. It made me want to commit to being oneself and become somebody rather than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Waste sorting, recycling, light saving and so forth, we regard them as basic steps of environment protection. However, in As the World Burns: 50 Simple Things You Can Do to Stay in Denial , by Derrick Jensen, Stephanie McMillan, 2007, authors use visual arts illustrates this way of protection is not on the right track. They pointed out that the earth will burn out before we die out, and those simple steps we do to protect environment only reduce the urgency but do not solving the problems. In The Politics of the Natural in U.S. History and Popular Culture , by Noёl Sturgeon, 2009, the author discussed that advertising of popular culture would affect negatively on the environment in future concern. Both readings use visual rhetoric to demonstrate the current environment situation and its problem. • 26. Enterprise Data Analysis And Visualization Enterprise Data Analysis and Visualization: An Interview Study ABSTRACT Organizations rely on data analysts to model customer engagement, streamline operations, improve production, inform business decisions, and combat fraud. Numerous analysis and visualization advanced tools available for analysts to work, but there are little research goes on how analysis happens in companies. To better understand the enterprise analysts ecosystem, we conducted semi structured interviews with 35 data analysts from 25 organizations. Based on our interview data, we characterize the process of industrial data analysis and document how organizational features of an enterprise impact it. We describe recurring pain points, outstanding challenges, and barriers to adoption for visual analytic tools. INTRODUCTION: The researchers conducted semi structured interviews with 35 analysts from various sectors. They asked analysts to walk them through the typical tasks they perform, the tools analysts use, the challenges they encounter, and the organizational context in which analysis takes place. In this paper, we present the results and analysis of these interviews. The respondents are well described by three archetypes. We find that these archetypes vary widely in programming proficiency, reliance on Information technology (IT) staff and diversity of tasks, and vary less in statistical proficiency. We describe how collaboration takes place between analysts. We find that analysts seldom share ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Essay On Dynamite Beginnings of Dynamite The late 18th and the early 19th century saw the rise of the Industrial Revolution. The transcontinental railroad across the USA was being built; in Australia and California, gold rushes were driving people crazy trying to get rich; in Seuz, a great canal was being dug through the earth; and in England, London s famous Underground Railroad system was being built. For these engineering projects to be made possible for all the blasting, tunneling, trenching, mining, and excavation to be made possible we needed explosives. At the beginning of the industrial revolution there were two main explosives used: black powder and nitroglycerine. Black powder had been used as early as the 1600s for construction and mining. As innovations involving the use of dynamite increased, a wide range of versatility provided a new wave of development. With the use of dynamite, rocky, uneven surfaces could be cleared to create level platforms to build on. Dynamite provided man with an awesome power the ability to dramatically change the face of the earth. (Modern marvels Dynamite). We now could blast through rock at a rate unheard of with the low power of black powder. Some of dynamite s first uses were creating trenches for irrigation systems, blasting rock in mines and quarries, and removing trees and stumps. This adoption of dynamite started to lead to larger, more ambitious project eventually working its way into almost every aspect of the industrial revolution. It unleashed the power that enabled the monumental industrial development of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including hydro power, skyscrapers, and coal and oil exploration. Canals and railroads, mining and construction, tunnels and harbors were all now economically and physically possible. Even concrete could become a common construction material once limestone could be blasted from quarries. Dynamite liberated laborers from the tiresome slaving in mines and quarries or moving and leveling earth. What once took weeks could now be done in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. A Leader Who Doesn t Have Knowledge Of The Best Person As... Leadership is a term on which no one can reach a consensus as it carries a different meaning and weightage for each individual. Some people may consider a person as their leader who is capable of taking them away from hardships or caring for them, or some people may consider a man steeped in wisdom and learning to be a leader. Difference notwithstanding, there still seems to be some commonality in all the perspectives behind the definition, which is related to choosing a best of the best person as their leader. The simple bottom line is that, nobody wants to have a person as his leader who doesn t have knowledge of the needs and aspirations of his people or who is not blessed with a certain temperament foe bearing hardships for his people, nor a vision for where they should be or how they should grow and influence the world around them. As the founder of tech startup, it is only natural for me to pick a leader who is a true technological visionary. It was not enough to simply pick someone who created innovative products, or created and ran a billion dollar company. For me it would have to be someone with the vision to shape the future and world around him, a person who could see how his works would directly impact the trajectory of the world and its impact on the human race at large. A true visionary. Therefore, for the purpose of this assignment I have chosen to perform a study to Elon Musk, the business magnate, engineer and inventor to name but a few of his accolades. In ... • 31. Itco321 Unit 1 Research Paper Unit 3 IP ITCO321 Anthony Thurman Stacks are containers of objects that are inserted and then removed according to Last In First Out (LIFO). This means that the last item inserted will be the first item removed. Inserting an item is referred to as Pushing, while removing an item is called Popping. A queue works a little different than a stack does, in that it follows First In First Out. So rather than having the last object removed first, the first object is removed first. Elements can be inserted at any time, but the only element that can be removed is the one that has been in the queue the longest. However, to clean the trays, you have to use the Invisalign Cleaning System, which contains crystals that become a cleaning agent when it is mixed with water, or you need to brush and rinse your trays in warm water.
