This document discusses link aggregation and the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). It defines a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) as a group of links that appear as a single link to devices. LACP negotiates the automatic bundling of links using LACPDUs and allows for various load balancing modes and hot standby ports. LACP maintains configuration information, exchanges it with peer devices, and attaches or detaches ports from the LAG based on the configuration. It can operate in active or passive mode.
