Nancy Meyers is a director, writer, and producer, with lots of famous movies such
as Something s Gotta Give (2003), The Holiday (2006), It s Complicated (2009) to
her credit. Her movies are usually romance comedy like. Of course with her movie
The Intern, one would not help but feel it would follow same romance comedy
style just like its predecessors. Ah ha! You are absolutely wrong as it doesn t only
portray its usual features, but it has been created to correct certain societal
misconceptions on baby boomers and successful women. It talks about a powerful
and successful woman who finds it quite difficult handling her professional life and
family at the same time, it also tries to correct certain societal misconceptions on
baby boomers. One of its main characters Ben Whittaker (who is played by Robert
DeNiro) a 70 year old baby boomer, plays an exceptional rule in this movie to
demonstrate the need to remain humble and kind to society despite its discrimination.
As the movie progresses, Ben uses his previous work experiences, ideas and past life

She only wants what is best for Oskar, however their already tense relationship

She rarely cries in front of Oskar and attends a grief group without Oskar knowing.
Oskar, however, thinks that because she isn t crying, she has already moved on
and doesn t care about Dad as much as he does. In her grief group she made a
friend named Ron. Oskar is very threatened by Ron and thinks that Mom is
replacing his father. Mom believes that not crying in front of Oskar is what was
best, but he doesn t understand the situation. They have a small argument
discussing this issue. She tried to explain to Oskar what was happening when she
said, You think because I laugh every now and then I don t miss Dad? I cry a lot,
too, you know. I don t see you cry a lot. Maybe that s because I don t want you to
see me cry a lot. Why not? Because it isn t fair to either of us (Foer 1861). Mom
hides her feelings from Oskar and seeks comfort with Ron because he went
through something fairly similar. Mom also suffers from post traumatic stress
disorder. We are able to see this when Oskar goes into her room and touched her
incredibly gently. She jumped up and said What is it? I said, It s OK. She grabbed
my shoulders and said, What is it? The way she was holding me hurt my shoulders,
but I didn t show anything (Foer 1153). Mom s religious character is revealed when
she explains to Oskar that his father s casket is more than just an empty box because
it has his spirit. Mom really did care about her husband and son. All she wanted
6. Santa Claus Stereotypes
Dreams of a White Christmas Without a doubt, Santa Claus is one of America s, if
not the world s, most iconic figures. A symbol of the secular West s religion of
consumerism, Santa Claus and his twelve reindeer have hijacked the holiday
dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ, and replaced it with the gospel of spending. As
both a cultural icon and the patron saint of capitalism, the depiction of Santa Clausin
recent years has been seriously debated. While today he is near universally depicted
as a portly old man, in a red and white suit and with a long, white beard, some argue
that Santa s image should reflect the changing demographics of the American public.

of nonwhite kids the insecurity and shame that I remember from childhood. Whether
you celebrate the holiday or not, Santa is one of the first iconic figures foisted upon

the country (and beyond, of course). That this genial, jolly man can only be seen as
white and consequently, that a Santa of any other hue is merely a joke or a chance to
trudge out racist stereotypes helps perpetuate the whole white as default notion
endemic to American culture (and, of course, not just American culture).
Despite the surface frivolity of this argument, it highlights some deeper issues
endemic in race politics in contemporary America. While the white as default notion
may not strike many white Americans as particularly problematic, if they even
notice it, it does make sense that children would like to see cultural images that
reflect themselves, and not in ways that are merely comical or ironic. However,
when Megyn Kelly at Fox news read Harris s argument, she took an entirely different
stance on the preferable imagery of Santa Claus. In her segment, Kelly addresses the

the major research problem in network security. Tradition intrusion detection system

1.0Background
Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are software or hardware designed to
automatically monitor activities within a network of computers and identify any
security issues . IDS have been around for at least 30 years since increased
enterprise network access produced a new challenge, the need for user access and
monitoring. As day to day operations grew increasingly dependent upon shared use
of information systems, levels of access to these systems and clear visibility into user
activity was required to operate safely and securely.
Many of the initial headway on IDS was made within the U.S. Air Force. In 1980,
James P. Anderson, an innovator of information security and member of the Defense
Science Board Task Force on Computer Security at the U.S. Air Force, produced

The rebellion occurred on 8th December 1962 during the ruler of Sultan Omar Ali

named Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB), which led by Sheikh A.M. Azahari and the
rebellion led by their illegal armed forced, which to be known as North Kalimantan
National Army or Tentera Nasional Kalimantan Utara (TNKU) the commander, Jassin
Affandy.. According to Harun Abdul Majid (2007, p.36), the revolt occurred due to
the issue whether or not Bruneito join Malaysia, which to be known as Malaysian
Plan. Furthermore, the 1959 constitution can also be the reason for the outbreak of
the 1962 rebellion. This is because Dayang Noralipah (2010, p.163) illustrated that
Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB) reflects the dissatisfaction towards the 1959 constitution.
However, Harun Abdul Majid stated that the 1962 rebellion was also because of the
formation of Malaysia, but also due to another reasons such as the ambitions of the
Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB) that wanted to be independent and deport the British
colonist in Brunei. They also wanted to merge Borneoterritories, which involved
Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei to be part of Malaysia as well as aiming to make Brunei

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles offers a surface level depiction of
Mesoamerican civilization and culture. It excludes essential information and instead
gives a shallow representation that offers implications of a barbaric civilization.
To start off, a Natural History Museum is usually a place where the public can visit to
obtain knowledge on the history of the earth and its inhabitants. Much about people s
culture and customs is found in a Natural History museum, especially people that
have made a difference or played a role in history that we learn today. Therefore, the
Indigenous peoples are represented in these precise museums. The indigenous people
have various amount of customs that are even used today, however, the fact that
many of their descriptions are led by the word histor or ancient almost makes the
guests at museums believe that these indigenous people are no longer alive, and that
is incorrect. The key objective for a Natural History museum is to simply help
connect the understanding of human beings, connections based on culture,
communities, to the earth and to each other. Precisely, The Natural History Museum
of Los Angeles does not fully represent in depth the qualities that made the indigenous
people so innovative, intelligent, and powerful; Therefore, the importance of the
indigenous people is almost overshadowed by everything else that is presented at the
museum. Overall, the indigenous people are represented here because of their

11. Tenebrism In 1600s
Art plays a big role in history, and continues to be a big part of every culture in the
world. Art gives everyone a way to express themselves whether it is a personal
reason, or about society in general. In each century a new way of creating art was
introduced and is respected to the day and still practiced. Tenebrism was
introduced in the Baroque era of the 1600 s. This is an art form related to realism
that was mastered, before tenebrism was later seen. The start of this art form came
about, because of what was happening in society in the 1600 s. In the Baroque era
there was a guy named, Caravaggio, who is considered the founder of the art of
tenebrism. The art of tenebrism tells the history of Europe with using light and dark
colors in the paints for adding effects for the viewers. This started in Rome when the
problem of different churches started to branch off of the Catholic Church. These

Margaret Hermann s main conclusion in her 1980 article Explaining Foreign Policy
Behaviour Using the Personal Characteristics of Political Leaders , is that the
personal characteristics and orientations of foreign affairs of political leaders are
important. However, one needs to be cognizant of the fact that personal
characteristics is only a first step in the process of trying to explain why governments
do certain things in the foreign policy arena. Moreover, individual actions are

Moreover, the personal characteristics and orientations of heads of government are
likely to have more impact on a government s foreign policy under some
circumstances than under others (Hermann 13). With this Hermann categorized the
personality traits of leaders into two orientations. On one hand, there are the
aggressive leaders who are leaders with high levels of nationalism, a strong belief in
their own ability to control events, a strong need for power, low levels of conceptual
complexity, and high levels of distrust for others. Such leaders tend to develop an
independent orientation to foreign affairs. On the other hand Hermann finds the
conciliatory leader to be high in need for affiliation, conceptual complexity, trusting of
others, low in nationalism and likely to exhibit little belief in their own ability to
control the events in which they are involved (Hermann: 8).
Another type of personal characteristic is that of interpersonal style, which is the
characteristic way in which a policy maker deals with other policy makers. There are
two interpersonal style characteristics according to Hermann, they are: 1) Paranoia

A more dubious and fervently argument is over Jesus deity. Many commentators will
inside and out deny Jesus as God; also, some Christians will deny His divinity too.
Some will go similarly as saying that He was an extraordinary instructor or an ethical
man, yet not God. C.S. Lewis addresses this issue by expressing: A man who was
merely a man and said the things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He
would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg or
else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was,
and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up
for a fool; you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet
and call Him Lord and God [2]
The Old Testament anticipated the coming of Jesus in more than 100 particular
predictions, which Jesus satisfied, having no human control to do as such with such
accuracy whether circumstantially or purposefully. In the New Testament, Jesus
claimed to be God. These cases were unmistakably comprehended by His crowd.

15. The Pit And The Pendulum Gothic Elements
Gothic literature was a significant style of writing in the late 1700s and 1800s. It
involves several different elements, such as imprisonment, doppelgangers,
claustrophobia, haunted settings, unreliable narrators, the Spanish Inquisition,
curses, and supernatural elements; therefore, The Pit and the Pendulum by Edgar
Allen Poe is an excellent example of gothic literature. This story includes many
gothic elements, each of which contributes to the horrifying atmosphere of the
story. The feeling of claustrophobia, the unreliable narrator, and the imprisonment
of the narrator are the three most significant gothic elements in The Pit and the
Pendulum. Imprisonment is an element of considerable importance in Gothic
literature, and it also plays a sizable part in The Pit and the Pendulum. The narrator is
imprisoned in a vault due to his capture during the Spanish Inquisition. He is later

16. Lynching In Duluth Summary
During certain times of history, communities have been swallowed up by times of
darkness seeming hopeless. Events in history help to illustrate this fact. In the book
Lynchings in Duluth, this fact is evident through people unwilling to go against the
crowd. When describing the scene of the lynching, the author states, from the streets
and sidewalks, other men grabbed onto the rope and marched behind, encouraging
others to join. The procession grew rapidly. Young men barely out of high school
were urging older men to come with them (Fedo 47). Although some men were very
passionate about the cause, others were only participating as a result of peer
pressure. Not enough people were willing to stand up against the majority, so they let
it happen.

Unlike cigarettes and alcohol, marijuana seem more appealing to get legalized.
Debates on legalizing marijuana have went on since the existence of the plant:
different researchers have come up with their own findings. Regardless of what effect
it has, everyone going to have their opinions based on assumptions. One thing they

Cannabis is natural plant that grows naturally for itself: nowadays people tend to

18. The Religious Power Of Guy Fawkes And King James I
There always has been tension when it comes down to religion and it was no
different whenever England was under Queen Elizabeth I sElizabeth s I control.
All of the religious groups were confused and scared under her rule since she did
not have a strong faith with any religion. She persecuted Catholic priests even
though she did not have a strong faith in the Protestants. Catholics were forced to
go to Protestant services and endure a non Catholic service under her rule. So
when James I became King after her death, Catholics anticipated for the injustice to
change. But they were sorely mistaken because he turned out to be more ignorant
than Queen Elizabeth . Most of the religious party were really chaotic under his
rule. Catholics were soon fed up under King James I and wanted to take action.
Which is why a Catholic group consisting of 13 men tried to get rid of King James I
and his Parliament, and the most known member out of the 13 is Guy Fawkes.
Unfortunately, the plan had been compromised before Fawkes had the chance to

The math lesson was focused on content standard 1.4. The learning goal was for
students to understand and use formulas to solve problems involving perimeters and
areas of rectangles and squares. They also had to use formulas to find the areas of

Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck utilizes contrasting settings to demonstrate
the value and significance of the novel. Through opposing characteristics,
representations, and values, Steinbeck makes known the true meaning of the story. In
the novel, Oklahoma and California are described as complete opposites. Oklahoma
was in the middle of the dust bowl, making the crops, houses, and people covered in
dust and dirt. The severe drought that they were experiencing ruined all sources of
income and food. People retreated, and many houses and farms stood empty and
deserted. This was home to many people, and through their experience they knew
that their fate would not change. Dissimilarly, California was prosperous and lively.

A fundamental theme in The Grapes of Wrathwas wealth. This could come in the
form of money or, in the case of the Joads, in the form of comfort. Along with many
families like them, they were searching for food, land, and work. The variation
between the two states made it an easy decision for families debating the move.
They simply could not stay with so much opportunity waiting somewhere else. This
brings out irony in the plot. The land of hope brought out more dangers and hazards
than their desperate homes did. Upon reaching California, it was realized that the
opportunity was more of a dream than a reality. However, the contrast in the lands
still played a large role in the meaning of the novel. It motivated the families that were
facing these struggles. It drove them forward and kept them looking ahead. It showed
them what was really important family. Together they could survive, even without a
little white house in an orchard. Had there not been such a large contrast between
Oklahoma and California, this meaning would not have made itself evident in the

In the ESPN s 30 for 30 documentary, I Hate Christian Laettner, the director explores
why the talented, tall, amazing Duke player is arguably the most hated college
basketball player to ever play. The documentary explores the 5 points of Laettner
hate: privilege, white, bully, greatness, and looks. The 5 points help shape how
people perceive Christian Laettner in the past and in the present. I believe that
Laettner did have a certain privilege that many people disliked. I think that it is
interesting that Laettner came from a lower, middle class, blue collar family, but
when people think of Duke student, as opposed to a UNC or NC State student,
people associate Duke with Ivy League interpretations and richer families. Laettner

Laettner knew he was handsome, and he lived the ultimate male college student s

people who hated him may have also thought about how attractive he is, but instead
of loving him, they have resented him because he was perfect . I also think that it
was funny that people tried calling him gay to throw him off, but that fueled him to
shut up the haters by his performance. He would make crowds go silent because he
would just perform so well. I think it is funny that his high social status influenced
that rumor, but it was obvious that the perception didn t match that
25. The Competitive Advantage of Tyson Foods
Competitive Advantage:
The competitive advantage that Tyson Foods Inc. holds is the large size of the
company and its brand equity. As was mentioned before, the amount of market share
that Tyson has been able to maintain gives the company an edge over the competition.
The fact that Tyson supplied meat products to large franchises such as McDonalds
and KFC gives the meat processor stable profits. Brand equity has also strengthened
Tyson s ability to compete in the foods industry. Advertising and promotion
expenses for fiscal 2013, 2012 and 2011 were $555 million, $496 million and $552
million, respectively. The Tyson brand is well known in the United States and this
helps keep the demand for its products high.
ADM s competitive advantage is the fact that it is able to reduce fixed cost by
large scale production, known as economies of scale. The company has
manufacturing, distribution, and sales facilities located in the U.S., Canada, Africa,
Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Since ADM has all of these locations around the
world, it has the capacity and capability to produce its products in massive
quantities. Cost per unit is lowered by spreading fixed costs across a larger product
base and this allows ADM to be price competitive within the industry.
Cost leadership is also an important key to success in any commodity industry since
it is one of few areas where any true profit can be squeezed out of markets defined by
undifferentiated products. ADM s vertical integration

Oedipus as the Ideal Tragic Hero of Oedipus the King
In the introduction to Sophocles Oedipus the King, Sophocles defines a tragic hero
as one who [behaves] admirably as a man, [but who] is nevertheless tripped up by
forces beyond his control and understanding... (Sophocles 76). In Oedipus the King,
Oedipus is the tragic hero. The force that trips up the hero is fate, or, moira. It is
Oedipus s actions that set the events into motion, but it is ultimately his fate, and his
attempted aversion to it, that brings about his downfall. This downfall, and elements
such as plot, character, diction and spectacle (Aristotle 175), that cause Oedipus the
King to be a tragedy.

Diction, quite simply, is word choice. In order to produce desired effects, the author
of a work must choose his or her words carefully. Once the writer has incorporated
these elements into his or her work, something must be included to hold the reader s
attention. This is where a spectacle will come in. An author will often include a
fight or some other lively event to attract the reader and entice them to continue
reading (or watching, if they are seeing the play performed). One such spectacle in
Oedipus the King, is the description of Oedipus s fight with King Laios. It is an
action packed scene that is meant to draw the reader s attention.
Once it is established that Oedipus the King is a tragedy, one must look to discover
who the tragic hero is. It is implied that his would be Oedipus, as he is the main
character and the subject of the story, but there are legitimate reasons for this
selection, also. Instilled in Oedipus are qualities such as intelligence, honor, and
strength. His intelligence is demonstrated by his solving of the Sphinx s riddle.
His honor can be implied by he way his people regard him so highly. His strength
his also demonstrated by this, as well as his ability to lead Thebes unexpectedly. He
did not expect to come to Thebes and become king, the duty was thrust upon him.
Immediately, one likes Oedipus, allowing us to feel emotions, like pity and fear, for
him later.

27. Rene Descartes Discourse On Method And Meditations On...
Rene Descartes was a philosopher during the Scientific Revolution. He wrote a
book called Discourse on Method and Meditations on First Philosophy where he
questioned everything about life. In that era, no one could question faith because it
was known that God created everything perfectly and for a reason. Descartes
questioned everything about life until he could prove that it was absolute truth. He
did not just blindly believe, he had doubts and questions he wanted answers to.
Descartes did not believe his teachers, he did not trust his senses, and he did not
believe that God existed. People, especially Christians did not like how Descartes
had these doubts and questions, but Descartes says, But, whatever type of argument I
use, it always comes down to the fact that the only things that fully convince me are
those that I clearly and distinctively perceive (Descartes p. 90). The only thing that
he consistently believes in is math, because the numbers will never change and 2+2
will always equal four.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes begins by wondering how there can be this being that created
everything. He is unsure how this one God could create everything and know
everything in the world. As Descartes continues to think about God, he realizes that
he must be real, that only one God could create all of this and give him these ideas,
and to have doubts and questions. Descartes says, And from the mere fact that
such an idea is in me, or that I who have this idea exist, I draw the obvious
conclusion that God also exists, and that my existence depends entirely upon him at
each and every moment (Descartes p. 80). He realizes that his life is dependent on
God, and that God is the reason for his existence. This is the final question he asks
to try and reach his goal of finding the truth in the world. Finding out about God
makes him realize that everything is real and he believes in everything

Winters are a constant season that hits North America and there s always a decision

Make sure to pack this when you go out hunting. All you will need is a 7 or 8 foot
square tarp, but make sure that is made with nylon or clear plastic Visqueen, which
can be found at the hardware stores. If you find yourself in the winter weather and
without a tarp, seek shelter in nature. For example, you can cut down some pine
boughs to strengthen some shelter for yourself. Matter of fact if you can find a
branched spruce tree, this is best. The last option is to find a gutted carcass of a
moose or elk and crawl inside, this helped one hunter to survive the harsh winter
while hunting.
3. Fire
After you have found some sort of shelter, the next thing to do is to construct a fire
to help you survive a cold winter night. The main reason for the fire is warmth, it
allows your wet clothes to dry and to also assist in signaling for search and rescue
teams. Fire also helps to unravel the nerves of being in the woods while you hunt,
your confidence also will be built up a bit as well.
So how are you going to light this fire?
Matches are a good choice for starting a fire with dry tinder, but that s mainly for
moderate weather, not the best choice for harsh winter hunting. There were hunters
who died while in the Absarokas had matches. The searchers who located their
bodies also found areas where they tried to start fires but

The rebels heckled the troops, threatening them with weapons and ominous

On March 5, 1770, passionate Boston colonists gathered on King Street to discuss the
inequitable, prejudiced taxes enacted by their tyrannical mother country. The British
soldiers embarked on a fervid rampage, terrorizing the colonial people with hostile

In no other specialization could I exercise both my presentation and persuasive talents
within the context of an engineering profession. With all things considered, aerospace
engineering is the key to my future. It is symbolic for all that comprises who I am.
The concepts that make up the field coincide with my personal values and aspirations
for humanity. As Henry G. Stott stated ever so eloquently over a century ago,
Engineering is the art of organizing and directing men and controlling the forces and
materials of nature for the benefit of the human race. I am proud to say that my life is
to be dedicated to the exploration of the unknown for the benefit of all whom we
encounter. Science is a animal that extends to develop at a much higher rate than the
beings that provided it birth. The transformation time from tree shrew, to ape, to
human far exceeds the time from an analytical motor, to a calculator, to a computer.
However, research, in the past, has habitually stayed distant. It has permitted for
improvement in output, transport, and even amusement, but not ever in annals has
research be adept to so profoundly sway our inhabits as genetic technology will
undoubtedly do. With the birth of this new expertise, technical extremists and anti
technologists have increased in arms to impede its budding future. Spreading worry
by misinterpretation of details, they encourage their concealed agendas in the
auditoriums of the United States congress. They

Subaltern designates the lower or colonized classes placed deeply in the shadows

access to their own voice. Likewise, in The Joy Luck Club, the Chinese mothers
who are at the boundaries of society, are dependent upon western intellectuals to
speak for them as they do not adopt the dominant point of view or vocabulary as

To illustrate, all mothers in The Joy Luck Club were born and raised in China. They
were instructed to follow the Chinese path and expectations of their parents, rooting
the culture deeply in their mind. Although the mothers were capable of holding their
traditional values, as they became American citizens, they ve interacted and mixed
with the American culture, causing new forms of identity and experience. For
instance, at the end of the novel, Lindo Jong is competent to use her two faces,
Chinese and American, to accommodate her potential to convey a thought or feeling
in words in multiple situations. Her display of the two faces blur the borderline of
having one cultural identity over the other, allowing her to move between worlds. As
a matter of fact, the daughters deal with hybrid identity as their mothers still preserve,
practice, and teach them Chinese culture at home, regardless of living in an American
society. Despite this, their way of thinking is influenced by American culture as they
receive American education, form relationships with American people, and are
introduced to American media. This failure in full assimilation into American culture,
allowed them to inhabit a double consciousness that is Chinese in its particulars but
universally American. For example, Waverly Jong, a model of success, possesses
greater critical thinking when playing chess using Chinese and American strategies.
In conclusion, this hybrid characteristic is built in the story as both the first and
second generation have discovered how to acknowledge and appreciate both their
oriental origin and their existence in a white dominant

God as an Observer to Iberian Conflict Throughout the accounts of war in Iberia,
both Christians and Muslims alike call upon God to grant them favor, strength, and
protection as they charge into battle. Where they differ on the subject is typically
ingrained in the belief that only one form of worship is correct for the monotheistic
deity, and in doing so use Gods invocation to justify the Christian and Muslim
invasions. However, God himself does not intervene with the conflicts, but rather
plays a role as an observer to the conflict whose name continues to be mentioned
despite his lack of contributions to said wars. In this paper I will argue that God is an
omnipotent observer to the Iberian conflicts between Christians and Muslims, in

For example, during the Umayyad campaigns when territories were taken by the
Muslims it s described that Castles and fortresses quaked as though death had rushed
upon them, [...] / their hearts, publicly recognizing obedience, unanimously agreed to
join the Islamic community, which suggests that the military conquest was the
reason for the conversion, not God as the Muslims believed (The First Campaign
Undertaken by the Prince of the Faithful, 80 82). Because the denizens of the lands
converted, they were spared from further death and destruction, and so it begs the
question: if God was going to have them convert at the end of the battle, why would
he not have them convert before innocents were killed? Therefore, it seems that God
once again is merely observing the developments as the Umayyad Caliphate expands,
and he has no particular favor with Islam or Christianity because if he did he probably
would have shown a sign to either religion or saved them from death. In the same
way, El Cid justifies his conquests by declaring that I win battles as it pleases the
Creator, and both Moors and Christians fear me, which suggests that God favors no
side in the conflict as he allows El Cid to plunder the countryside of its wealth (Cid,
153). This also establishes that God observes El Cid s conquests and victories, does
nothing when his followers The Moors called on Muhammad

A common problem with public goods is the free rider problem. The free rider
problem occurs when people want to use a public good, but do not want to pay for
it. The reduction of greenhouse gasses should be a global effort. The benefits are
vague and provided in the future, there is little incentives to reduce emission. If the
Trump administration disregards America s pledge to reduce carbon emission by 26
to 28 percent, the United States can save millions of dollars on climate policies but
increase the threat to the planet. This can lead to other countries not meeting their
emission quota. If a majority of the nations who signed the Paris agreement goes
back on their promise, a market failure will occur, producing an inefficient result. If
too many countries become free riders, the cost of the remaining countries will
increase trying to reduce emission. This will then exceed the benefits for the counties
to fix the climate problem. Eventually leading to the climate problem being too large
for the few remaining countries to solve on their own.
Another problem with public goods is the tragedy of the commons. The tragedy of
the commons occurs when individual people or parties disregard the well being of
the society in pursuing personal gains. When every country tries to gain the most
benefits from abusing the climate, the demand will rapidly consume the supply of the
resource, due to the country not

made for a perfect reason to use. Hitchcock knew that it would take a while for the
word to spread that birds were attacking the residents adding to the horror. Being that
the town is a beach town, it gave an open sky view and flat land for the

42. Professor Workm Speech Analysis
Coming into this semester, I was scared that I was taking a speech class. The
thought of speaking in front of a group of people did not fit well with me. I knew in
order to earn the grade I wanted, I had to do speeches. I did not know the class
would only be about 25 kids, so that made it easier. Professor Workman did her best
to make sure we weren t nervous or had any anxiety before our speeches which
helped a lot. Throughout the semester we had to do a total of 2 speeches. One speech
was an informative speech and the other was persuasive. The first speech was the
informative speech. I believe this speech was a bit easier due to the fact we had a
PowerPoint to somewhat help us. I believed I developed my points and supported
each one using... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this speech specifically my greatest weakness was not having enough
information, so I was not as confident. My greatest strength was my opening with
impact and how I caught the audience s attention from the start. This class has
helped my public speaking skills in many ways. My greatest improvement overall
is that I am now confident in my public speaking abilities and yes there will always
be a little nervousness but no anxiety. I have become a more confident speaker
compared to what I was before I took this class. Although the progress is not huge,
it is progress and I am very satisfied with the progress I have made throughout this
semester. I cannot wait to use the skills I have learned throughout this course in the
future when I will have to speak in front of a group of
43. Corruption In Julius Caesar
When I hear the word honor, the first thing that comes to mind is to make proud. It
brings me joy to know that I have been given approval and appreciation from others.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, where there is honor, there is corruption. Much
like it sounds, corruption is the opposite of pride, approval, and appreciation. I
associate corruption with shame and indignity. In the play The Tragedy of Julius
Caesar, characters of both sides are presented. I believe that Mark Antonyis the most
honorable individual in the play, and Cassius is by far the most corrupt. Mark
Antony proves that he is honorable in the way that he is a dedicated servant to
Caesar. From the very beginning, before Caesar s rise to power, Antony was there.
As doubts and suspicions arose regarding Caesar s ability to rule, he stuck by his
side, defending his name well beyond his death. Loyalty is a good quality to look
for when searching for a friend and an even better quality when looking for
someone to help govern a nation. Another way that Antony proves he is honorable
is when he is still able to see the good in Brutus after all he has done. If that were
me and I had been stabbed in the back (figuratively speaking) by someone I
considered to be a friend, I would not be able to forgive so easily. Even so, Antony
still chooses to see him as a very noble individual. Lastly, Antony shows his honor by
avenging the death of Caesar even to the point of war. Imagine having someone on
44. Oral Traditions In Beowulf
Traditionally, an epic poem is a poetic narrative about a significant event normally
featuring a hero. Epic poems frequently involve interactions between the heroes and
the gods. In addition, epic poems arise out of Oral Traditions in poetry. Also, epic
poem feature tragic deaths most of the time. Beowulf has just about every aspect of
an epic poem. Throughout the epic poem of Beowulfwe can see the interactions
between the heroes and the gods. However, the Christian God is not immediately
present in the poem but God is mentioned and discussed quite a few times. When
Beowulf went to battle in the deep dark shadowy waters where all the monsters
lived. Epic heroes are prepared to put their own lives in danger for the greater good.

Beowulf was being defeated; but the ruler of the heavens, known as the Lord or
God, decided to show Beowulf good judgment and saved Beowulf from failing his
battle with Grendel s monstrous mother. A big aspect usually seen in an epic poem
is Oral Traditions; A way of showing their life, beliefs, and customs. The Anglo
Saxon s Oral Traditions are show all the way through the epic poem of Beowulf.
You can make out a number of parts of an Anglo Saxons everyday life. Anglo
Saxons value their towns and the community within them. Kings and Queens were
a very honorable title to obtain. Beowulf was named king after he defeated
Grendel and his monstrous mother. On the other hand, the majority of epic poems
end with a tragic death. Beowulf became king of the Geats and is held responsible
for guiding his kingdom. Beowulf has ruled Geatland for fifty years now facing
his final encounter against a dragon. By Beowulf side stood a few of his faithful
servants. A king, before, but now a beaten warrior (ll 745 746). Beowulf servants
realize they cannot overcome the dragon so the run away for safety, except for
Wiglaf who displayed bravery, another characteristic shown in epic poems. Beowulf

45. Analysis of Stephen King
Stephen King: On Writing
Stephen King is a man of many talents and personalities; not only is he able to
scare his readers immensely, he is also able to make them laugh. I chose a passage
from Stephen King s On Writing for this assignment; the passage stuck in my mind
for a long time after I finished the book. His writing style is unique compared to the
other autobiographies I have read over the years. Everything that a person writes
has a meaning or purpose whether it s a letter or an essay and voice, tone, and style
play a very important part in how the reader views the piece of writing. King
manipulates the rules of writing in order to emphasize the meaning of the passage,
which is to describe an early childhood experience, so the ... Show more content on

repetition in this sentence puts stress on what is causing her to be happy; the reader
knows automatically that she finds pleasure in punishment. This paragraph is also the
only one that has extremely long sentences separated by semi colons and many comas.
King also chose certain terms to describe Eula Beulah, which can be described as
rhetorical features. В….she was as big as a
46. Argumentative Essay On RAW
I haven t watched a full episode of RAW in over three months. I catch up by way
of clips on Twitter, and I skim through Hulu s already abridged version. I spend
most of my time perusing the promos, the skits, and whatever vignettes there may
be. I cram the broad strokes of the larger narratives so I can pass whatever WWE
quiz comes my way. With SmackDown included, I ve condensed my WWE
viewership into about thirty minutes a week. And if there s a pay per view, then that
duration increases. The result is that I m a much happier human being, and I m a lot
easier to be around. I don t obsess about booking decisions. I don t bicker with
anyone online. I don t care about anyone s criticism of my criticisms. The imagined
judgments of some phantom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For some, that degree of immersion will always work. And the fact that people can
do that regardless of whether they should or not is a part of pro wrestling s appeal.
I understand and respect that devotion, even if it gives me pause at the same time.
But extremes aren t as useful in the long term. That degree of constant engagement
weighs on all human minds. It affects one s ability to calmly and coherently
witness what they re experiencing. In any diehard environment, criticism becomes
unreliable because critical thinking doesn t exist. This problem is why I ve found
stepping away from watching and critiquing RAW so useful. When I turned RAW
on last night before bed, I saw aspects of the show that I d always criticized in a
new light. My general perspective hadn t changed, of course. I didn t all the
sudden enjoy segments I used to hate and hate the ones I used to enjoy. But I could
process the information in a more coherent way. In the past, I ve been relentless in
my disdain for backstage segments. I ve been lamenting their existence since before
I had this blog or my podcast. I ve likened them to the visual version of a cheap pop
and screamed that they have no place on
47. Jackie Robinson And Racial Barriers In Sports
Can you ever imagine yourself living in an era where you are constancy denied
due to the color of your skin? In the 1940s early 1950s segregation was still existent
and in full effect. Baseball was amongst one of the most popular sports in America
but there were separate leagues that were involved within this, Major League Baseball
(MLB) and the Negro BaseballLeagues were the only leagues that were existent
during the era of segregation. There was only one person that had the guts to enter
the Major League of Baseball, his name was Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson had
the perseverance to face this racial barrier in sports as an obstacle to overcome
throughout the duration of his career. Jackie Robinson was a major influence
when it came down to breaking the racial barrier in sports, he inspired many
people to fight for the equality that African Americans truly deserved. Robinson
had many influences during his career in baseball that had helped him break this
barrier but there was one man that changed the entire sport of baseball, his name
was Branch Rickey. Rickey was an American sports executive, he was hired to The
Brooklyn Dodgers to take position as President. He then wanted Robinson to join
the Dodgers but with Jackie being the first African American to join the MLB, he
would have to learn to endure all of the hate that was came with the price of the first
African American to ever be a part of the Major League of Baseball. Branch Rickey
then invited Robinson to his
48. Compare And Contrast Samsung And Apple
When watching multiple commercials for comparable products, sometimes even
back to back, they can seem very different at first but upon closer inspection some
can start to see their similarities. Both Samsung and Apple are prominent phone
makers, and most people either own one of their phones, or know of them. While
both companies have commercials that are both similar and different from one
another, even the ones that seem to be the most different have their ties that make
them more comparable than one may think. In Apple s commercial for the iPhone
called Barber, and Samsung s Galaxy S7 commercial featuring Lil Wayne, each has
their own style in presenting their product to potential viewers. Despite this they are
both related in that they are both featuring one specific feature for their products,
have a lighthearted tone, a central focus, and a quick pace. Making each one
entertaining to watch, even multiple times. Both commercials are overall good and
when looking at the similarities, these are what make the commercials even more
so. Apple s commercial simply called, Barbers, begins with the ad showing a
barbershop from the outside, and quickly goes to the inside where a man is getting
his hair cut. While another guy is sitting in one of the chairs he decides to take out
his iPhone to take a picture once the man is done. The barber then decides to put this
picture on the window of the shop. This creates a snowball effect as more and more
people are attracted to
49. International Organizations And Collective Security
The United Nations has worked to maintain peace and stability in the global
community, but has experienced numerous failures in establishing a system of
collective security. The purpose of this paper is to analyze why international
organizations, such as the UN have been ineffective in achieving their goal of
establishing a system of economic, political, and social stability via a collective
security system. First, a brief discussion of the history of the UN and collective
security is provided. Second, a discussion about the ineffectiveness of the UN is
provided. Third, a discussion of the issues facing the global community is provided.
Lastly, a discussion of how the issues of collective security will impact economic
development in less developed countries.
The United Nations was established on the idea of creating a system that used
collective security. Collective security is a state of interdependence that prevents
one nation state from imposing on the rights of another without consequences on a
global political, economic, and social scale. In recent years, the UN has
acknowledged an increasing need for a system on the basis of developing a system
that would protect the sovereign rights of the states. Collective security is a principle
ideology that catalyzed after WWII. After WWII, world leaders saw the need to
develop a system that would prevent any other major war or conflict. After the First
World War, The League of Nations (1920), an intergovernmental organization
50. Courage Definition Of Courage
The definition of courage is the quality of spirit that allows a person to face
difficulty without fear or doubt. This quality is what drives those who have a
purpose to survive. In the short story The Sniper; By Liam O Flaherty and, in the
excerpt of The Trouble with Geniuses, Part II, By Malcolm Gladwell courage is
displayed as an act of commitment. In the book Outliers, Chris Langan had a knack
for mathematics and philosophy. Many people described him as being gifted. His
younger brother Mark Langan often compared him to Robert Oppenheimer, a
physicist famously known for the development of the nuclear bomb in World War
II. Chris however, did not have the determination to become a famous physicist. He
was kicked out of college more than once for unnecessary reasons and eventually
gave up on his education. The sniper however, was a soldier and did not feardeath. He
used his wits to fool the other sniper and managed to buy time for his escape except
it did not pay off in the end as his brother was his enemy. So, in both stories courage
is brought up as a description and almost like a goal for both characters. This trait is a
prime example of a quality required to overcome adversity in life.
Adversity in one s life can affect many aspects of their personality, with these
obstacles this person could use courage as a path to conquer their own goals. In the
Sniper the main character had been in a lethal situation as he was under fire in a city
in Dublin. But the
51. How Did Alexander II Become Russian
Cluster #1, question #1 730085631
Alexander II is affectionately termed the Great Reformer, but the policies of his reign
from 1855 to 1881 attempted to modernize society while maintaining the tsarist
authority. Although Alexander II was forced to implement reforms to accommodate
Russia s loss in the Crimean War, the impediments of serfdom, and challenges to the
autocracy, his reforms ultimately attempted to expand the tsar s power.
Alexander II retained the conservative penchant of his father, Nicholas I. Although
Alexander II was thoroughly groomed for the throne, he was disinterested in
politics and had a practical mind that lacked depth. At the very core of his
paradigm was a belief in the legitimacy of the autocracy. Alexander II had no liberal
tendencies before 1855, and his reforms were coerced by changes in social tides, not
Alexander s liberal ideology. In fact, the reforms were presented as continuous with
the reign of Nicholas I and the Zakharova thesis argues the reforms were ... Show

Alexander II was coerced to reform the anachronisms of Russian society, but,
consistent with his personality and beliefs, his changes were rooted in a desire to
preserve tradition. At the base of his pseudo liberal policies was conservatism, a
retainment of power in the tsar. Alexander II s reforms essentially tossed
breadcrumbs to those hungry for change while keeping true power vested in the
autocracy. Additionally, the problems faced by the oft disregarded zemstvos and
dumas, as well as the inequality among serfs compounded by lopsided abolition
policies stoked discontent among Russians and built up resentment against the
autocracy. Alexander II s response to Russias social and economic problems
attempted to entrench autocratic power; the reforms were short term solutions to a
backwards society and by stoking discontent among the people, ultimately brought
Russia closer to
