1. An independent clause is a group of words that is one complete idea.
2. A simple sentence must have a subject and a verb and is an
independent clause.
3. Independent clauses can be connected by the conjunctions: for; and;
nor; but; or; yet; so (FANBOYS).
4. When you connect two independent clauses then you make a
compound sentence.
