Give the students some time to work out what A, B and C could be (get them to share their answers ā Q&A or mini whiteboards). Then write some of the answers down to highlight that they could all be OK. Explain that the only way to get the true answers is to use algebra. A + B = 14, B + C = 11, C + A = 13. Choose 2 sums and put them together, A + B + B + C = 14 + 11 which simplified is A + 2B + C = 25. You can then take out of this C + A = 13, which leaves 2B = 12, so B is 6. Then it is easy to work the rest of the numbers out. I would suggest doing this on the board slowly step by step (using different coloured pens), but I have left a slide in next to help show workings.
I would recommend printing this slide out to give to the students so they have some success criteria (step by step guide) of how to complete the questions.

This is a really quick plenary. Get students to write in their book www (what went well) something they found that they were good at and are confident with. They then need to write ebi (even better if) so something that they would like to improve in their work. Get students to share what they have written.
