This document provides an overview of Philippine literature from different regions of the country. It discusses representative texts and authors from Regions 1 through 5, including Francisco Lopez and Pedro Bucaneg from Ilocos, Ines Tacad Camnayo and Fernando Maramag from Cagayan Valley, Anicio Pascual and Macaria Garcia from Central Luzon, Manuel Reyes and Jose Rizal from Southern Tagalog, and Mariano Perfecto from Bicol. In fact, the earliest known written Iloko poems were
the romances he translated from Spanish
an Augustinian friar who in 1621, published his own
Iloko translation of the Doctrina Cristiana, the first
book to be printed in Iloko.

since birth.
He is acknowledged author of the
Ilocano epic “Biag ni Lam-ang”.
