Superior labral anterior-posterior (SLAP) lesions are common shoulder injuries, especially in overhead athletes. They can cause chronic pain and loss of function if left untreated. This paper reviews the classification, pathomechanics, clinical evaluation, and treatment of SLAP lesions. Making the clinical diagnosis can be challenging, as concomitant injuries like rotator cuff tears are common. A thorough history and physical exam, along with imaging, are important to identify SLAP lesions and associated injuries to guide appropriate treatment.
