The U.S. Border Patrol
In 1924, the U.S. Border Patrol started its service for our nation. Although changes have affected
nearly every aspect of its operations from its earliest days, the values; professionalism, honor,
integrity, respect for human life, and a shared effort, helped shape the Border Patrol from the
early years and they still remain the same today. Since the very beginning agents have been
patrolling our borders, Mounted watchmen of the U.S. Immigration Service patrolled the border
in an effort to prevent illegal crossings as early as 1904 (Border Patrol History, web). The agent s
efforts were undertaken only when resources permitted. The inspectors were all out of El Paso,
Texas, Though they never totaled more than seventy five, they patrolled as far west as California
trying to restrict the flow of illegal Chinese immigration (Border Patrol History, web). In 1915,
Congress approved a separate group of Mounted Guards, often called Mounted Inspectors. Most
rode on horseback, but a few operated cars and even boats. Although these inspectors had broader
arrest authority, they still largely pursued Chinese immigrants trying to avoid the Chinese exclusion
laws. The agents were immigrant inspectors, assigned to inspection stations, and could not watch
the border at all times, Texas Rangers were also often assigned to patrol duties by the state, and
their efforts were noted as singularly effective (Border Patrol History, web). Customs violations and

Comparison Of Le Bain And Madame X
A clear similarity between Le Bain and Madame X is how each artist pushed boundaries for their
times. Both of these paintings were done in the 19th Century, but are around twenty years apart.
The way these paintings push boundaries is in how they show modernism and truth, like Balzac
discusses in the reading in creating a masterpiece. One is able to see in Le Bain the nude woman
with her clothes spread on the ground, which resemble clothes modern women were wearing at
the time. At this point in time many believed it was appropriate for nudes to be in paintings if
they resembled a god or goddess. In this painting it is clear one is viewing neither a god nor
goddess. As we discussed in class the emperor felt this painting was immoral because

Abstract In today s world, the small as well as big organizations are using different technology to
protect their data and to use the database as and when they need. As we know that the traditional
database system are usually deployed in closed environment where user can access the system only
through a restricted network or internet. With the fast growth of WWW, user can access virtually
any database for which they have proper access right from anywhere in the world. But this
comfortness comes with certain type of risk like security and privacy. To overcome this problem, we
are introducing a new technique called as fog computing. .

1. INTRODUCTION
Fog computing is simillar to cloud. Fog provides data, storage, compute and applications to the end
user. Rather than presenting and working from centralized cloud, fog operates on network edge.
Because of this, it requires less time to

Mao Cultural Revolution
A. Plan of Investigation
In 1966, Mao mobilized the Chinese youth to initiate the Cultural Revolution , a violent process
eliminating old Chinese culture, customs, thoughts and habits, purging counter revolutionary party
members, and heightening Mao s personality cult. I will summarize evidence collected from
textbooks, official documents, biographies and eyewitness reports about the events between 1959
and 1966. I will describe the failure of the Great Leap Forward, Mao s resignation as president, his
power struggle with Liu Shoaqi and Deng Xiaoping and the propagating of his personality cult.
Then I will identify how these events may have given Mao reasons for launching the Cultural
Revolution, and whether his motives were of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people s faith in the government was partially restored; Liu s and Deng s popularity grew.
Furthermore, at the Conference of 7000 in 1964, instead of supporting Mao, Liu gave a speech
suggesting that the CCP was to blame for the economic failures and forced Mao into some half
hearted self criticism In October 1964, Khrushchev was sacked. In Nov 1964, the Russian defence
minister said to a Chinese delegation We got rid of our fool, Khrushchev, now you get rid of yours,
Mao.
2. Establishment of the personality cult
Mao s lack of public appearances after 1958 had damaged his image and his authority. Since
1963, the Little Red book ( Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse tung ), compiling Mao s
statements on his views and ideology, had been a standard Chinese text, and his personality cult
was systematically fostered by Lin Biao , his faithful Minister of Defence, using various forms of
propaganda and giving him popular titles such as The red sun rising in the East . Mao re entered
public life on 16 July 1966 with an appearance of him swimming in the Yangtze River, to promote
his strength. He frenzied the admiration of the Chinese youth, which he was hoping to mobilize for
revolutionary purposes.

Narrative Essay Strength
Once I failed, but now I am showing my strengths. There was this high school I played played for
named Central Dauphin. They were called the Rams. Before I go on, I am going to fast forward
to the end of Junior year and to the beginning of my Senior year. It was a game against Carlisle
Thundering Herd. The gamewas cold and it was the first game of playoffs. I did not start at the
time but our starting tackle got hurt so I had been thrown in there. Now take in mind my body is
ice cold and my muscles are not stretched. I then remember getting tackled from behind and feeling
some popping noises in my ankle. I was laying there afraid my football career was over. Mind you
that this was now my second ankle injury of that year. A few teammates had... Show more content

At the end of the first half someone had dove into the side of knee. I had fallen over and felt the
worst pain I had ever felt in my life. I am laying there and say to myself, I will not stay down and
give up on myself. Halftime comes along and Coach Doc pulls me to the side and said, you are
done for the night. I told him to his face, I will not be taken out as this is my last year to shine.
Nothing will stand in my way. So I finish the game and come to find out I had sprained my knee
bad. Once again I will not have nothing come in front of me this year. Our biggest game of perhaps
the whole year was against the Wilson Bulldogs. This was a game I was going to war for my
brothers that I love deeply. Second play of this game I get blindsided and my knee buckles. I felt
that pain but said no to it and got right back up and played the rest of the game. I had played a
great game and we had handed them their worst loss in many years. The moral of my story is to
never give up on yourself and the others around you just because things are not going your way. If
you give it some time they will eventually fall into your hand and then it is up to you if you want

Robert Frost, Home Burial, By Robert Frost
One of the most influential poets of all time is Robert Frost he is a staple in any literature class.
He has a majestic way with words and is able to project imagery in ways that many people wish
they could. Students might not realize under these beautifully written poems there is a man pouring
his heart and soul out into them. Robert Frostsuffered from a very difficult life where deathand
depression was around every corner. Once readers realize what kind of life Frost had, it
becomes apparent on how dark many of his poems really are. I feel like Frost was alone and the
only way for him to let people know his situation was putting it in words. Home Burial is a
particularly dark poem about the death of a child which I feel as if it is an homage to his
children who have passed away, and his way of giving his grief life. The Road Not Taken talks
about the life choices you make and whether they are the correct choice to make, and Mending
Wall talks about have social and mental walls that separate people. These poems were all written
within a year of each other and hold many dark images which is Frost sharing his pain hoping to
reach another and connect with them. First, having a knowledge of Frosts past is imperative. In
1885 when he was 11, his father died of tuberculosis, leaving the family with just eight dollars.
Frost s mother died of cancer in 1900. In 1920, he had to commit his younger sister Jeanie to a
mental hospital, where she died nine years later (Robert

Yum Brands Financial Statement Analysis

Yum portfolio, but with only 322 stores it is difficult to gain significant share, and it has been
targeted as a failing brand by many analysts. Yum Brands current strategy can be summed up in
one word, international. The U.S. QSR market is mature and heavily saturated, so instead of
fighting for domestic market share, Yum is primarily focusing on expanding in emerging

producing segment for Yum Brands, with 26% profit growth in 2010. Outside of , Yum is also
leveraging its franchising model to open hundreds of new stores, 4 per day in 2010, with little
capital investment. One key to Yum s success internationally is adaptation to the local market. In ,

How Does Billy Pilgrim Use Satire In Catch 22
How does one know they are right? Does one viewpoint inherently have more value than another?
Unconventional viewpoints towards war are often portrayed in classic literature from the
perspective of its soldiers. Kurt Vonnegut, in his novel Slaughterhouse Five, writes the story of
Billy Pilgrim, a WWII veteran with PTSD who lives his life stuck in time . Throughout the non
chronological course of the novel, Pilgrim questions his faith and purpose and eventually
becomes trapped in his own fantastical reality as an attempt to escape his horrific memories of
the war. Yossarian, in Joseph Heller s Catch 22, also relies on escapism to make it through his
own experience in WWII. After a series of traumatic events leads to many of his comrades dying,
he runs from the war and escapes to Sweden. His lack of faith in religion, his superiors, and
purpose of the war leads to Yossarian s escape to Sweden, a country free of American influence.
Pilgrim and Yossarian s integrity and sanity is consistently questionable, as well as their sanity
during and after the war. Vonnegut and Heller both use satirical means to question the effects of

Catch 22 closes with Yossarian s escape from the deranged, knife wielding lover of Yossarian s
fellow soldier, Nately. After Nately s death, Yossarian breaks the news of the death to Nately s
lover, and she blames it all on him. As he runs from her, Nately s whore was hiding just outside
the door. She swings the knife, missing him by inches, and he took off (Heller 453). By
narrowly escaping, Yossarian survives destruction, unlike the rest of his friends. His predilection
towards flight over fight saves him, showing Heller s belief that escapism is a mark of sanity.
When Yossarian experiences a failed escape, it leads to the downfall of not only his short lived
faith, but also that of a man he

There s no way to sneak out the kongsi front door carrying a sword, even with a skeleton crew of

something wrapped around a sword? I don t have time for such nonsense. The easiest option is
going out the emergency exit on the ground floor. There s no guard, but there is an alarm, which

Anne Finch s Opposition to The Rape of the Lock Essay...
Anne Finch s Opposition to The Rape of the Lock
The Restoration Period (1660 1700) was a period of social, political and philosophical turmoil,
which laid the foundation for future centuries. This period was marked by an advance in
colonization and trade and by the birth of the Whig and Tory parties. In poetry, works of Alexander
Pope and Anne Finch and a number of other poets distinguishes the Restoration. But, there are
several objections from these poets; one particular opposition occurs between Pope s The Rape of
the Lock and Anne Finch. Pope was born into a Catholic family during a period of intense anti
Catholic sentiment in England. His family was forced to move because Catholics were forbid from

The events that Pope describes in this poem occur between Belinda, who is motivated by pride
and vanity and Baron, who is driven by ambition. Belinda s energy is driven to attract a man and
pretend to be affectionate and then cast him off for another. Baron oversteps his boundaries of
acceptable behavior by acting with force toward the desirable woman. The Rape of the Lock is
both a scornful description of a ridiculous social situation and a serious analysis of consequences
of flattering self esteem and desire. The Rape of the Lock is a staple of neoclassical writing; it
includes wit and wit is characterized by parallelism and balance. It contains epic conventions
such as war (between the sexes), epic game (played on the velvet plain of the card table), a
journey (to the underworld), and battle. Pope writes by describing the man as the hero. But Finch
writes her poetry in regards to women. When Anne Finch wrote, she followed a particularly
intellectual course, not only for women but also for anyone at the time. She wrote about
philosophy; her philosophical work had another important source: her own physical pain. She was
concerned to provide theodicy for her writers. She attempted to reunite the existence of a
compassionate or benign god with the existence of suffering and other evil in

without having a personal God. Jains do not believe in one creator or God. Heinrich Zimmer, an
expert on Indian Philosophy, states, ?Jainism is Tran theistic it does not deny existence of God

of higher personal ethics. Jainism is founded on the goal of overcoming the temporary cycle of
earthly life in addition to be released from an endless cycle of existence. Human destiny was the

Girls Are To Gross As Boys Research
Girls are to gross as boys are to clean. In truth, a teenage girl would make her bed, listen to music,

Honestly, it might exist as an art, because who knew someone could be so good at being

and throw them on the floor (yes ladies, this includes dirty underwear). Afterwards, they order the

After reading the text, I learned that in rural areas of Mexico, food sharing is considered an
important food custom. The relationship that the Mexican farmers have with their food and farms
extends to their social network in this practice. The native Indian origin of Mexicans, in that more
than 80% have some form of Indian heritage mixed in with Spanish, is reflected in the foods and
worldview. I also understand, very well, that if an offering of foodis not accepted, the person that
declines the food has made a huge error and considered rude. I am sure that this is due to the pride
that the offeror maintains, due to the personal relationship to the food that the family offers. After

Landmark Civil Rights Cases In Special Education
Landmark civil rights cases clearly prove that segregation does not provide equal access to quality
services. Historically, students with disabilities were segregated, or not allowed access to education
at all, leading the passage of the Education of the Handicapped Act. Least restrictive environment
(LRE) is the special educationterm which refers to the mandate; children with disabilities should be
educated to the maximum extent appropriate with their peers who do not have disabilities. There is
an inherent paradox with LRE, in that students have a right to be educated with their peers in the
general classroom setting. However instances occur where the general education setting is not what
is appropriate for the individual needs of the student.
School administrators should be familiar with the concepts involved in providing a LRE for
qualifying students. Leaders should pay particular attention to, first and foremost developing a plan
which meets the individual needs of the student. Once this has been accomplished, as Yell (2016)

Smart City Is A Concept
Smart City is a concept that is currently popular in the world, where every country is trying to
develop their metropolitan cities to achieve the status of a Smart City. Smart City can be defined as
the utilization of ICT to feel, analyze, and integrate key informations that comes from the core of
the city, which in this case, the government. While at the same time, Smart City can also give a
smart response to the various needs of the citizens. Some examples being daily activities,
environmental protection, public security, service activities, industrial activities, and the
commercial activities of the said city (K. Su,

Although just an incremental enhancement, these cities spent up to hundreds of billions of dollars
annually to start these initiatives.
Therefore, the writers have two main objectives on this research. The first one is to understand the
concept of social sustainability, while the second one is to discover the potentials of smart
technologies in improving social quality of life of population and approaching sustainability goals.
To reach these objectives, the writers decided to use a desk research method, where a variety of
bibliographic materials was scanned and a limited number of documents have been reviewed and
critiqued. In their paper, the writers stated that a city is smart when investments in human and
social capital and traditional
(transport) and modern (ICT) communication infrastructure fuel sustainable economic growth and a
high quality life, with a wise of management of natural resources, through participatory governance.
While people think that the most important is technological infrastructure, the most important
infrastructure in a smart city is the social infrastructure, which revolves around the citizens and
their relationships. A smart city is a humane city that has multiple opportunities to exploit its human

Homeschooling Is An Effective Education
Mahatma Gandhi once said There is no school equal to a decent home and no teacher equal to a
virtuous parent. Homeschooling has evolved into a popular and fast growing alternative to
traditional schooling. In 2003, there was an estimated of 1.1 million homeschooled children, and in
2007 homeschooling had continued to grow to over 1.5 million. Opponents of the homeschooling
method argue that parents are not as qualified to educate their children as teachers are; therefore,
their children will not measure up to the academic level of traditionally schooled children.
Additionally, they argue that homeschooled children will not be on the same social level as
children in regular schools and will lack adequate social skills for the real... Show more content on

Finally, other studies say that parents who home school are spending too much time with their
kids and are swaddling them. (Jeub) Homeschooling disproves all the arguments above. Jeub
affirms that parents are not their child s main educator, but their child learns independently
because of his desire to learn. No matter how qualified parents are, homeschooled children have
proven to excel academically. Also, homeschooling allows children to learn at their own pace.
Every curriculum is designed for a specific child. Individualized learning allows all children s
needs to be met. Homeschooling gives freedom to learn at their own level unlike public schools,
where every child must learn a set curriculum in order to keep up with the class. In response to the
argument that homeschooled children spend too much time with their parents, they actually have
positive relationships with their parents and other adults in the community. Instead of looking at
adults as disciplinarians, many view adults as their mentors as their jobs, other home school
parents, or family friends. Lisa Revero adds that homeschooling provides an environment for the
family to learn and live together harmoniously and frequently unlike a traditionally schooled
family where spending family time is often rare. Life revolves around jobs, endless carpools,
sports games, and play practice, leaving little time for the family to

The Importance Of Omniscience In The Holy Spirit
It is crucial that Christians not only put trust in God and the Son but that Christians also entrust
themselves in the Holy Spirit, considering he is fully divine and personal. The Spirit of God,
who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead,
he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. (Romans 8:11) Paul is
declaring that through the spirit Godwill give believers new life, in which humans are transformed
into the likeness of Christ Making the debate over foreknowledge is one of the liveliest debates
within evangelicalism today. (Boyd, Eddy 49) According to The Pocket Dictionary of
Theological Terms Foreknowledge is defined as To know in advance . Regarding
foreknowledge, Arminian and Calvinists disagree on how God acquires his knowledge.
Calvinists believe that God foreknows all that shall come to pass because he predestined it.
Others, called Arminians, believe God foreknows all things simply because they shall come to
pass, though humans to some extent determine it by their free will. (Boyd, Eddy 48) All
orthodox Christians believe it is true that God is omniscient. The question is if God knows
every detail of the future or only enough where people are still free in their decisions. It could be
that God has some details of the future, but one decides definite details by their own free will.

The, The Voice Of God
Prophets proclaimed the voice of God, provided spiritual perspectives on occurring events,
predicted events that will occur in the future, and acted as a guide for Israel. They were seen as a
channel in which God could communicate his messages through. Prophets are seen in the second
portion of the Hebrew bible, but we may also find similarities to more recent influential people that
have recently lived among us; one such individual is Harvey Milk. Foremost, How prophets are
stem from times of difficulty are explored; first in the case with Israel s elites and the poor, then
as a response to the pressures gays men and women are faced with in America. Thereafter, the
comparison is made between how biblical prophets used public displays and how public
displays were used in an entirely different context to promote gay rights in San Francisco. Lastly,
we see how shocking language was used first to turn the heads of people in Israel hundreds of years
ago; as well how it was used in speeches carried out on the streets of San Fransisco, more recently.
Biblical Prophecies emerge from times of difficulty. During the 8th century, Israel who had once
saw a developing nation, now faced a declining economy. Wealth was focused on the elite class
and the social gap was growing at an increasing rate (Miller Hayes, 1986). The prophets speak of
the people as being guilty of breaching a contract with god and the deteriorating economy was a
punishment for this. The hope of forgiveness and

Operating software (OS) An operating system has the ability to manage both the hardware and
software of a computer or device. It is the most important part of a computer and controls every
action and task which is carried out. Computers and devices require both hardware and software
for it to operate. Without one, you will not have a functioning machine. All desktops utilise
operating systems, of which the software (or OS) is a collection of code installed onto the
computer s hard drive and is intangible. It includes the computer programs, folders, files and
documents. The internet browser, like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome that allows you to visit
online web pages and the operating system that the browser is running on is considered software,

something you can physically touch. Examples of hardware include a mouse, monitor, keyboard

Therapeutic Cloning And Its Controversy
Therapeutic Cloning and its Controversy The idea of finding a way to cure people of diseases with
their own cells is one that scientists, physicians, and those who are afflicted by such diseases find
very enticing. Therapeutic cloning is a process that scientists believe has the potential to achieve
such goals in the future. While therapeutic cloningbrings with it a variety of potential benefits and
innovations, it also carries with it a polarizing ethical conflict that poses a strong impediment to
furthering such research and development. By realizing therapeutic cloning for its great potential
benefits and world changing implications and disregarding any ethical considerations that may
deter such advancement, the proper focus and open mindedness necessary to achieve success in the
field would be achieved. Therapeutic cloning, like all medical endeavors, includes a multitude of
challenges and flaws, but no very important medical achievements come about without extensive
research and continual attempts at success. Therapeutic cloning is a process in which the cells of
one person are manipulated into becoming the stem cells for another person through Somatic Cell
Nuclear Transfer(SCNT). This process involves taking oocytes, or immature female egg cells that
are generated during ovulation, incubating them in in vivo culture, and extracting the nucleus of
such cells and replacing them with the the nucleus of another cell. This produces a stem cellwith a

Distinguishing Factors In The Other Wes Moore
Distinguishing Factors
One of the great things about the The other Wes Moore is the simple retelling of two completely
different lives. It is interesting how Moore does not advise but rather hopes that each person will
develop their own idea and construct about what the moral of the story may be. And furthermore
about how it applies to an individual s life.
The story starts with the question of what if? That question starts the reader off in a state of mind
to question the turning point for each person. There are many key ideas that led two children of
similar background to completely different lives. The main cause for both Wes Moore s would
arguably be the families in which each character was surrounded by. And it is actually that idea that
shows that they did not begin with the same background at all. Each boy had a family and heritage
that they grew up with that influenced their train of thought and behaviors. Moore, the writer of the
book seemed to be (later on) thankful to his parents for the comforts that they gave up that led him
to his success today. The other Wes Moore was not as wealthy when it came to those terms.... Show

Nelson Mandela s Fight For Freedom And Equality
The underlying need structure of the individual is what motivates his behavior in various
leadership situations. Leadership style thus refers to the consistency of goals or needs at different

above quote is the former South African president, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, commonly known
as Nelson Mandela. Mandela has been described as one of the most influential figures in the fight
for freedom and equality in South Africa.
Mandela was born in 1918. His farther, Henry Mandela, was a tribal chief of Tembu. At the time

Paid Student Athletes Essay
Q11
Amateur Status of College Athletes Ensures Fairness
College athletes line the pockets of many coaches, corporations, and university athletic
departments, but the big revenues are limited to a few popular sports like football and basketball.
If college athletes were paid, there would be many equity issues similar to those under Title IX that
sought equal opportunities for women and men to compete in sports. Football players would likely
command the biggest salaries, while softball and crew athletes might not fare as well. Colleges and
universities have a responsibility to ensure fair treatment of all students, and need based
scholarships for student athletes are one of the most important tools to ensure access and equity.
While there are compelling arguments on both sides, student athletes should be students first and
athletes second that is the reason they are in college. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time, many could help their families financially. Paid athletes could also share in the
revenue they help generate. It is estimated that the University of Louisville has the most valuable
athletes at $1.72 million per year based on the program s $45.6 million in annual revenue. Most
importantly, student athletes would be more likely to finish college and get a degree before going
on to a career in professional sports.
On the downside, unfair compensation between paid college players would lead to a lot of
competition and conflicts, and students could end up transferring to the highest bidder college.
Student athletes might not have much incentive to go to class, which would hurt their ability to
earn money after their athletic careers. With money as the sole motivator, some athletes may not

`
Cultural Relativism is a view that all ethics, beliefs, and customs an individual has within their own
social context are relative. It is an idea that is accepted amongst various modern anthropologists. In
fact modern anthropologists believe all cultures are to be observed from a completely neutral
standpoint for all cultures equally express the existence of humans. Since cultures must be observed
neutrally, it is easily seen that right and wrong are purely decided by culture specific influences. Is
is also then easy to see that culture influences themselves start to become relative. Religion is one

The Last Supper By Leonardo Da Vinci Essay
Bad Company
When Leonardo da Vinci painted his famous work, The Last Supper , he prepared himself by
making a thorough study of the lives of each of the twelve Apostles as well as the Lord. Then he
set out to find real faces to paint as the faces of the thirteen men represented in the painting.
As the story goes, he thought finding a face to paint as the face of the Lord would be the most
difficult. His goal was to find a man in whose face; he could see love, compassion and kindness.
He wanted to see the glow of purity in his countenance and a gleam akin to divinity in his eyes.
Da Vinci searched for a number of months before he found a man whose countenance portrayed the
characteristics that he needed to paint the face of Jesus Christ. The man gave his permission and
his face was painted as the face of the Lord.
During the following three years, Leonardo da Vincifound other men, whose faces he painted as
the faces of Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James,
Thaddaeus and Simon.
Then he began searching for a face to paint as the face of Judas. He would need to find a man in
whose face he could see dissipation and despair. There would be no gleam in his eyes. Finally,
he learned about a fellow who was being held down at the jail for thievery and drunkenness. The
artist went to the jail and as soon as he saw the man, he knew the face that he had been looking

Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe Fannie Flag...
Racism deeply affects how people are treated. Because of the color of someone s skin, people
are often looked at treated and differently. In the novel Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle
Stop CafГ©, Fannie Flag illustrates the Racism as a theme in many different ways. The stories
start off with the introduction of two women, Ninny and Evelyn who meet in a nursing home, and
Ninny tells the tales of her days back in the whistle stop cafГ©, around the 1920 s. Throughout
the story the appearance and mention of the Ku Klux Klan appears at various times, and black
men are given food out the back door, while the white men are fed inside at the tables; how black
peoplewere viewed at the time was transparent; they were thought of as lower people, and they
were treated like dirt. Racismimpacts how people are treated and people who are subjected to it to

People treat others differently based on the color of their skin. The author showcases this
throughout the novel, through the lives of Artis and Jasper, twin siblings who have extensively
different complexions than one another, The oldest son, whom she named Jasper, was the color
of a creamy cup of coffee, and the other one, named Artis, was black as coal (97). Coffee is
typically thought of as something warm and pleasant, while coal is dark and grimy. This may be
considered a metaphor for their lives, as Jasper s was always warm and welcoming, and Artis
pathway was dark, he saw horrible things in his time even though he was well behaved. People
treated Jasper with much more respect than his brother, Artis, and the sole reason was obvious.
Because of the color of someone s skin, they are likely to be subjected to unfair assumptions, which

The Endangerment Of Coral Reefs
The Endangerment of Coral Reefs When people, tourists especially, ask themselves what is one
of the most memorable moments they have experienced in the Florida Keys, the first thing that
comes to mind is the ocean. Not only the ocean in general, but what is beyond, or in other words,
what is beneath? . Far in the aquamarine water there is another world that people do not even
know about, where many different species of life come together and form a place of peace and
beauty. This world is called a coral reef. Coralreefs are one of the most beautiful sanctuaries where
not only tourists, but Floridians go forth and admire their unique beauty underwater and see life in
another perspective; pure bliss. Whether there are the colorful... Show more content on

Delicate purple sea fans, blood red sponges, spiny puffer fish, poisonous fish, giant clams, yellow
lip snakes and giant manta rays are just a small sample of the fascinating residents that awe
visitors from the terrestrial realm (Weber). To get more in detail about the importance of coral
reefs, they are providers of food source and living as well as the fact that they are among the
most biologically diverse regions on Earth. The actual coral itself is known to be extremely
ancient that evolved into reef building forms over the last 25 years (Donner). There are two
types of coral, one is hard coral, which is the major reef building species and then there is soft
coral, which are sea fans and sea whips. The reefs are classified into three types: barrier reefs,
fringing reefs, and atolls. They create specialized habitats that provide shelter, food and
breeding sites for numerous plants and animals. Zooxan thellae is the algae found on coral reefs
and the small organisms live together, which is one the main food sources on the reefs for all
the species in the ocean. Florida s coral reefs are very important to its state. It is a fact that
Florida is the only state is the United States to have extensive shallow coral reef formations near
its coast (Florida s Coral reefs). Molasses Reef, White Banks Reef, Mosquito Reef, Grecian Rocks,

The Teleological Argument for God s Existence Essay
The Teleological Argument for God s Existence
The teleological argument is also known as the argument from design. It is the idea that our world
and the universe surrounding it are so intricate that it could not happen by accident, it was designed.
William Paley put forward perhaps the most famous version of this with the watchmaker argument.
Imagine you live on a desolate desert island and one day you come across a watch. By looking at it
and examining, the intricate and complicated mechanisms you would conclude that it was designed
by an intelligent designer. A watch could not happen by chance. Lets apply that logic to things in
our own universe.
The mechanics of our hands are very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some argue the earth could not happen by chance. The probability of the Big Bang creating a
perfect world is minuscule, 1 in a million. However, if we think of all the planets in our universes
that are not sustaining life then it does not seem so improbable.
Back to this perfect watch , its not perfect. It does not automatically adjust the time when the
clocks go forward. Instead it spitefully ticks away knowing that you will be late for work.
Alternatively, does it remember leap years? Does it give you an apology? No because it is a mean
and uncaring watch.
Our world is much like this watch, its imperfect. It is rude and selfish. People are staving and we
are sitting here stuffing our faces. Our amazing hands are not so amazing after all, they wear out,
muscles and bones break. Surely, an intelligent designer would design us with out these faults.
It is not just us with these faults. Meteorites crash into planets, the sun will one day plunge us into
darkness if its heat has not dried us out and we could be sucked into a black hole.
You could say nobodies perfect , but God, by definition, is a perfect being. If God created the
universe, it would have to be perfect. David Hume believes that the universe does not have to be
created by a perfect being merely an intelligent one.
The idea that God sat down and designed then made organisms like

The Association Of Southeast Asian Nations
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on 8 August 1967 with
initially 5 member countries which are Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and
Thailand. Later Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia joined the
association, forming 10 member countries in total. The aims and purposes of the ASEANinclude
accelerating economic, social and cultural development to enhance competitive advantage in the
region and promoting regional peace, stability and collaboration among its member countries
(Association of South East Asian Nations, 2015b). In 2003, the member countries agreed to
establish the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) as part of the regional integration efforts. The

This would enables investors and creditors to evaluate financial information consistently over time
and among different companies. Thus, the ASEAN countries would also need to move toward a
single set of global accounting and financial reporting standards in the future to align with other
nations.
Although the accounting standards used in each ASEAN member countries are independently
governed by the regulator of each respective member countries, the ASEAN Federation of
Accountants (AFA) is the key regional accounting organisation for the national associations of
accounting professionals of its member countries (ASEAN Federation of Accountants, 2015a). One
of the objectives of the AFA is to advance the status of accounting profession in the region
(ASEAN Federation of Accountants, 2015b). The AFA supports the IFRS as an appropriate
accounting practice to be used in all ASEAN member countries (Ahmed Jahangir, 2006). Table 1
illustrates the current status toward the adoption of the IFRS among the ASEAN 10 member
countries. As of 2015, seven countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines,
Singapore, and Myanmar have already adopted IFRS and the IFRS for SMEs either as issued by
the IASB or with some degree of modification. The other three countries, namely, Indonesia,
Thailand, and Vietnam are taking into account the IFRS in developing their local standards.

Plasmasphere Essay
Plasmasphere is a highly dynamics region which can expand and shrink within hours or less during
geomagnetic active times. Previous studies showed that the plasmasphere plays an important role
in energization and/or loss mechanism for electrons in the radiation belt. Therefore, constructing a
plasmapause (the outermost region of plasmasphere) model is key to study the correlation between
radiation belts and plasmasphere in details. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis
for plasmapause modelling by comparing the performances of different machine learning
techniques using different parameter sets. Particularly, this study examines techniques like bagging,

2017 has already existed, this project s major goal is to apply the machine learning techniques
learned in ASEN 6337 and identify the best machine learning tool for this modelling issue. This
hence can serve as a launchpad for the next project that can further improve the plasmapause model
by combining different machine learning techniques. In the long run, this project strives to provide
a comprehensive study on the current machine learning techniques available and determine the best
option for this application. This information can hence be used to further improve the plasmapause.
With a better plasmapause model available, the scientists in the community can study and thus
understand the dynamics of the energetic electrons in the radiation belt and the role of
plasmasphere for the energization and loss of the electrons in the radiation belts. Hence, a better
and more accurate space weather forecast can be built and this allows us to take mitigation
measures prior to the storm events; it will hence help reduce money and/or life loss, especially
during the huge storms events like the Carrington event. This paper will describe the background
that includes the previous plasmapause models, data instrument as well as prior attempts to tackle
this issue, the methodology used that consists of a detailed explanation on how the inputs and
responses (plasmapause locations) were derived, the outcomes of the comprehensive analysis,
conclusion and the

The Effect Of Vitamin B12 On The Body
Vitamin B12 is a water soluble vitamin that s main function is to keep the brain and nervous
system operating properly. B12 also helps aid the formation of the blood. Good food sources of
Vitamin B12 are found in sardines, Salomon, tuna, cod, lamb, shrimp, beef, yogurt and cows milk.
Folic acid helps to produce and maintain new cell development, as well as preventing changes in
the DNA that could possibly lead to cancer. Folic acidis found in foods such as spinach, broccoli,
asparagus, beets, liver, beans and whole wheat products. When pregnant if women consume a
combination of vitamin b12and folic acid they tend to lower their risk of neural tube defects in
their children. In this essay I will review different articles in order to come to the conclusion of
when a women is pregnant and takes a vitamin B12 and folate supplement she will reduce their
chance of her child having Neural Tube Defects or Spina Bifita.
Neural tube defects are birth defects of the spine, brain, and the spinal cord. Usually neural tube
defects happen in the first month of a women s pregnancy. Most of the time neural tube defects
occur even before the women know she is pregnant. The two most common types of neural tube
defects are spina bifita and anencephaly. In spina bifita, the spinal column does not close all of the
way, which causes nerve damage that leads to paralysis in the child s legs. In anencephaly, most
parts of the brain and skull do not fully develop. Because of the brain and the

  • 2. The U.S. Border Patrol In 1924, the U.S. Border Patrol started its service for our nation. Although changes have affected nearly every aspect of its operations from its earliest days, the values; professionalism, honor, integrity, respect for human life, and a shared effort, helped shape the Border Patrol from the early years and they still remain the same today. Since the very beginning agents have been patrolling our borders, Mounted watchmen of the U.S. Immigration Service patrolled the border in an effort to prevent illegal crossings as early as 1904 (Border Patrol History, web). The agent s efforts were undertaken only when resources permitted. The inspectors were all out of El Paso, Texas, Though they never totaled more than seventy five, they patrolled as far west as California trying to restrict the flow of illegal Chinese immigration (Border Patrol History, web). In 1915, Congress approved a separate group of Mounted Guards, often called Mounted Inspectors. Most rode on horseback, but a few operated cars and even boats. Although these inspectors had broader arrest authority, they still largely pursued Chinese immigrants trying to avoid the Chinese exclusion laws. The agents were immigrant inspectors, assigned to inspection stations, and could not watch the border at all times, Texas Rangers were also often assigned to patrol duties by the state, and their efforts were noted as singularly effective (Border Patrol History, web). • 4. Comparison Of Le Bain And Madame X A clear similarity between Le Bain and Madame X is how each artist pushed boundaries for their times. Both of these paintings were done in the 19th Century, but are around twenty years apart. The way these paintings push boundaries is in how they show modernism and truth, like Balzac discusses in the reading in creating a masterpiece. One is able to see in Le Bain the nude woman with her clothes spread on the ground, which resemble clothes modern women were wearing at the time. At this point in time many believed it was appropriate for nudes to be in paintings if they resembled a god or goddess. In this painting it is clear one is viewing neither a god nor goddess. As we discussed in class the emperor felt this painting was immoral because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plan of Investigation In 1966, Mao mobilized the Chinese youth to initiate the Cultural Revolution , a violent process eliminating old Chinese culture, customs, thoughts and habits, purging counter revolutionary party members, and heightening Mao s personality cult. I will summarize evidence collected from textbooks, official documents, biographies and eyewitness reports about the events between 1959 and 1966. Furthermore, at the Conference of 7000 in 1964, instead of supporting Mao, Liu gave a speech suggesting that the CCP was to blame for the economic failures and forced Mao into some half hearted self criticism In October 1964, Khrushchev was sacked. In Nov 1964, the Russian defence minister said to a Chinese delegation We got rid of our fool, Khrushchev, now you get rid of yours, Mao. 2. Establishment of the personality cult Mao s lack of public appearances after 1958 had damaged his image and his authority. Since 1963, the Little Red book ( Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse tung ), compiling Mao s statements on his views and ideology, had been a standard Chinese text, and his personality cult was systematically fostered by Lin Biao , his faithful Minister of Defence, using various forms of propaganda and giving him popular titles such as The red sun rising in the East . Mao re entered public life on 16 July 1966 with an appearance of him swimming in the Yangtze River, to promote his strength. Before I go on, I am going to fast forward to the end of Junior year and to the beginning of my Senior year. It was a game against Carlisle Thundering Herd. The gamewas cold and it was the first game of playoffs. I did not start at the time but our starting tackle got hurt so I had been thrown in there. I told him to his face, I will not be taken out as this is my last year to shine. Nothing will stand in my way. So I finish the game and come to find out I had sprained my knee bad. Once again I will not have nothing come in front of me this year. Our biggest game of perhaps the whole year was against the Wilson Bulldogs. This was a game I was going to war for my brothers that I love deeply. Second play of this game I get blindsided and my knee buckles. I felt that pain but said no to it and got right back up and played the rest of the game. I had played a great game and we had handed them their worst loss in many years. • 8. Robert Frost, Home Burial, By Robert Frost One of the most influential poets of all time is Robert Frost he is a staple in any literature class. He has a majestic way with words and is able to project imagery in ways that many people wish they could. Students might not realize under these beautifully written poems there is a man pouring his heart and soul out into them. Robert Frostsuffered from a very difficult life where deathand depression was around every corner. Once readers realize what kind of life Frost had, it becomes apparent on how dark many of his poems really are. I feel like Frost was alone and the only way for him to let people know his situation was putting it in words. Home Burial is a particularly dark poem about the death of a child which I feel as if it is an homage to his children who have passed away, and his way of giving his grief life. The Road Not Taken talks about the life choices you make and whether they are the correct choice to make, and Mending Wall talks about have social and mental walls that separate people. These poems were all written within a year of each other and hold many dark images which is Frost sharing his pain hoping to reach another and connect with them. First, having a knowledge of Frosts past is imperative. In 1885 when he was 11, his father died of tuberculosis, leaving the family with just eight dollars. Frost s mother died of cancer in 1900. In 1920, he had to commit his younger sister Jeanie to a mental hospital, where she died nine years later (Robert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. How Does Billy Pilgrim Use Satire In Catch 22 How does one know they are right? Does one viewpoint inherently have more value than another? Unconventional viewpoints towards war are often portrayed in classic literature from the perspective of its soldiers. Kurt Vonnegut, in his novel Slaughterhouse Five, writes the story of Billy Pilgrim, a WWII veteran with PTSD who lives his life stuck in time . Throughout the non chronological course of the novel, Pilgrim questions his faith and purpose and eventually becomes trapped in his own fantastical reality as an attempt to escape his horrific memories of the war. Yossarian, in Joseph Heller s Catch 22, also relies on escapism to make it through his own experience in WWII. After a series of traumatic events leads to many of his comrades dying, he runs from the war and escapes to Sweden. His lack of faith in religion, his superiors, and purpose of the war leads to Yossarian s escape to Sweden, a country free of American influence. Pilgrim and Yossarian s integrity and sanity is consistently questionable, as well as their sanity during and after the war. Anne Finch s Opposition to The Rape of the Lock The Restoration Period (1660 1700) was a period of social, political and philosophical turmoil, which laid the foundation for future centuries. This period was marked by an advance in colonization and trade and by the birth of the Whig and Tory parties. In poetry, works of Alexander Pope and Anne Finch and a number of other poets distinguishes the Restoration. The Rape of the Lock is both a scornful description of a ridiculous social situation and a serious analysis of consequences of flattering self esteem and desire. The Rape of the Lock is a staple of neoclassical writing; it includes wit and wit is characterized by parallelism and balance. It contains epic conventions such as war (between the sexes), epic game (played on the velvet plain of the card table), a journey (to the underworld), and battle. Homeschooling has evolved into a popular and fast growing alternative to traditional schooling. In 2003, there was an estimated of 1.1 million homeschooled children, and in 2007 homeschooling had continued to grow to over 1.5 million. Opponents of the homeschooling method argue that parents are not as qualified to educate their children as teachers are; therefore, their children will not measure up to the academic level of traditionally schooled children. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, other studies say that parents who home school are spending too much time with their kids and are swaddling them. (Jeub) Homeschooling disproves all the arguments above. Jeub affirms that parents are not their child s main educator, but their child learns independently because of his desire to learn. No matter how qualified parents are, homeschooled children have proven to excel academically. Also, homeschooling allows children to learn at their own pace. Every curriculum is designed for a specific child. Individualized learning allows all children s needs to be met. Homeschooling gives freedom to learn at their own level unlike public schools, where every child must learn a set curriculum in order to keep up with the class. In response to the argument that homeschooled children spend too much time with their parents, they actually have positive relationships with their parents and other adults in the community. Instead of looking at adults as disciplinarians, many view adults as their mentors as their jobs, other home school parents, or family friends. The Importance Of Omniscience In The Holy Spirit It is crucial that Christians not only put trust in God and the Son but that Christians also entrust themselves in the Holy Spirit, considering he is fully divine and personal. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. (Romans 8:11) Paul is declaring that through the spirit Godwill give believers new life, in which humans are transformed into the likeness of Christ Making the debate over foreknowledge is one of the liveliest debates within evangelicalism today. (Boyd, Eddy 49) According to The Pocket Dictionary of Theological Terms Foreknowledge is defined as To know in advance . Regarding foreknowledge, Arminian and Calvinists disagree on how God acquires his knowledge. Calvinists believe that God foreknows all that shall come to pass because he predestined it. Others, called Arminians, believe God foreknows all things simply because they shall come to pass, though humans to some extent determine it by their free will. (Boyd, Eddy 48) All orthodox Christians believe it is true that God is omniscient. The question is if God knows every detail of the future or only enough where people are still free in their decisions. It could be that God has some details of the future, but one decides definite details by their own free will. • 40. Leon Yacher Essay When Leon Yacher was young, his father spent about five years traveling all over Peru. Through this, Yacher was introduced to different areas and cultures and landscapes. He learned that there were different places, that not every area was the same. Looking back, Dr. Yacher believes these early travels to have planted seeds of curiosity and interest inside him. These seeds experienced a growth spurt when he moved to the United Statesand attended the University of New Mexico. While there, he took a geography class taught by Professor Richard Murphy that sparked his interest in geography and changed his life. Today, Dr. Yacher is one of the most eclectic geographers, having traveled to the cities of more than 150 countries. When he enters a city, he immediately begins to search for commonalities and differences, what makes this city unique and how it is like every other city in the world. Because he is not interested in the superficial, he stays away from any tourist attractions, choosing to sleep in local boarding houses rather than hotels so as to build a relationship with the city. He walks the streets untouched by wealthy visitors and talks to real people. By so doing, he is able to see and know the real... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Halfway between these two schemas, Kyrgyzstan does not neatly fit under any of the labels representing the different types of journalism. • 41. The Last Supper By Leonardo Da Vinci Essay Bad Company When Leonardo da Vinci painted his famous work, The Last Supper , he prepared himself by making a thorough study of the lives of each of the twelve Apostles as well as the Lord. Then he set out to find real faces to paint as the faces of the thirteen men represented in the painting. As the story goes, he thought finding a face to paint as the face of the Lord would be the most difficult. His goal was to find a man in whose face; he could see love, compassion and kindness. He wanted to see the glow of purity in his countenance and a gleam akin to divinity in his eyes. Da Vinci searched for a number of months before he found a man whose countenance portrayed the characteristics that he needed to paint the face of Jesus Christ. The man gave his permission and his face was painted as the face of the Lord. During the following three years, Leonardo da Vincifound other men, whose faces he painted as the faces of Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Thaddaeus and Simon. Then he began searching for a face to paint as the face of Judas. He would need to find a man in whose face he could see dissipation and despair. There would be no gleam in his eyes. Finally, he learned about a fellow who was being held down at the jail for thievery and drunkenness. The artist went to the jail and as soon as he saw the man, he knew the face that he had been looking was found. He had discovered the face, he would paint as that of Judas; the ... Because of the color of someone s skin, people are often looked at treated and differently. In the novel Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop CafГ©, Fannie Flag illustrates the Racism as a theme in many different ways. The stories start off with the introduction of two women, Ninny and Evelyn who meet in a nursing home, and Ninny tells the tales of her days back in the whistle stop cafГ©, around the 1920 s. Throughout the story the appearance and mention of the Ku Klux Klan appears at various times, and black men are given food out the back door, while the white men are fed inside at the tables; how black peoplewere viewed at the time was transparent; they were thought of as lower people, and they were treated like dirt. People treat others differently based on the color of their skin. The author showcases this throughout the novel, through the lives of Artis and Jasper, twin siblings who have extensively different complexions than one another, The oldest son, whom she named Jasper, was the color of a creamy cup of coffee, and the other one, named Artis, was black as coal (97). Coffee is typically thought of as something warm and pleasant, while coal is dark and grimy. This may be considered a metaphor for their lives, as Jasper s was always warm and welcoming, and Artis pathway was dark, he saw horrible things in his time even though he was well behaved. The actual coral itself is known to be extremely ancient that evolved into reef building forms over the last 25 years (Donner). There are two types of coral, one is hard coral, which is the major reef building species and then there is soft coral, which are sea fans and sea whips. The reefs are classified into three types: barrier reefs, fringing reefs, and atolls. They create specialized habitats that provide shelter, food and breeding sites for numerous plants and animals. Zooxan thellae is the algae found on coral reefs and the small organisms live together, which is one the main food sources on the reefs for all the species in the ocean. • 48. The Teleological Argument for God s Existence Essay The Teleological Argument for God s Existence The teleological argument is also known as the argument from design. It is the idea that our world and the universe surrounding it are so intricate that it could not happen by accident, it was designed. William Paley put forward perhaps the most famous version of this with the watchmaker argument. Imagine you live on a desolate desert island and one day you come across a watch. By looking at it and examining, the intricate and complicated mechanisms you would conclude that it was designed by an intelligent designer. A watch could not happen by chance. Lets apply that logic to things in our own universe. The mechanics of our hands are very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some argue the earth could not happen by chance. The probability of the Big Bang creating a perfect world is minuscule, 1 in a million. However, if we think of all the planets in our universes that are not sustaining life then it does not seem so improbable. Back to this perfect watch , its not perfect. It does not automatically adjust the time when the clocks go forward. Instead it spitefully ticks away knowing that you will be late for work. Alternatively, does it remember leap years? Does it give you an apology? No because it is a mean and uncaring watch. Our world is much like this watch, its imperfect. It is rude and selfish. People are staving and we are sitting here stuffing our faces. Our amazing hands are not so amazing after all, they wear out, muscles and bones break. Surely, an intelligent designer would design us with out these faults. It is not just us with these faults. Meteorites crash into planets, the sun will one day plunge us into darkness if its heat has not dried us out and we could be sucked into a black hole. You could say nobodies perfect , but God, by definition, is a perfect being. If God created the universe, it would have to be perfect. David Hume believes that the universe does not have to be created by a perfect being merely an intelligent one. The idea that God sat down and designed then made organisms like ... Previous studies showed that the plasmasphere plays an important role in energization and/or loss mechanism for electrons in the radiation belt. Therefore, constructing a plasmapause (the outermost region of plasmasphere) model is key to study the correlation between radiation belts and plasmasphere in details. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis for plasmapause modelling by comparing the performances of different machine learning techniques using different parameter sets. Folic acid helps to produce and maintain new cell development, as well as preventing changes in the DNA that could possibly lead to cancer. Folic acidis found in foods such as spinach, broccoli, asparagus, beets, liver, beans and whole wheat products. When pregnant if women consume a combination of vitamin b12and folic acid they tend to lower their risk of neural tube defects in their children. In this essay I will review different articles in order to come to the conclusion of when a women is pregnant and takes a vitamin B12 and folate supplement she will reduce their chance of her child having Neural Tube Defects or Spina Bifita. Neural tube defects are birth defects of the spine, brain, and the spinal cord. Usually neural tube defects happen in the first month of a women s pregnancy. Most of the time neural tube defects occur even before the women know she is pregnant. The two most common types of neural tube defects are spina bifita and anencephaly. In spina bifita, the spinal column does not close all of the way, which causes nerve damage that leads to paralysis in the child s legs. In anencephaly, most parts of the brain and skull do not fully develop. Because of the brain and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
