IT GETS A LITTLE MORE COMPLEX FOR REAL
SITS IN A COLLABORATION TOOL, OR A BROWSER
THINK ABOUT Otto IF . . .
- you want your learning to get
reused as performance support
- you have a knowledge-based
application where your learners
might need to look things up
WILDFIRE
- you have documents that
learners need to read,
understand and recall, which
normally would not get the
online learning treatment.
E.g. Standard Operating
Procedures.
THINK ABOUT Wildfire IF . . .
GDPR
How Learning Pool and our customers
are tackling this new legislation
WHAT IS GDPR?
And why is it important to
you and the company you
work for?
GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR)
• It’s the EU’s new framework for data protection
laws
• It replaces the previous 1995 Data
Protection Directive
• It’s designed to harmonise data privacy
laws across Europe
• Should provide greater protection and rights
to individuals
IS MY COMPANY GOING TO BE AFFECTED?
• Affects all companies that store,
process or transfer personal data
• Covers both “Personal Data” and
“Sensitive Personal Data”
• GDPR also covers “pseudonymised
personal data”
ACCOUNTABILITY & COMPLIANCE
Companies with more than 250
employees MUST document:
• Why people’s information is being
collected and processed
• Descriptions of the information held
• How long it’s being kept for
• Descriptions of technical security
measures
GDPR FINES
Smaller offences: Fines of up to €100m or 2% of the
firm’s global turnover (whichever is greater)
More serious offences: Fines of up to €200m or 4% of
the firm’s global turnover (whichever is greater)
These are all larger than the current £500,000 penalty
the ICO can wield
According to analysts - last year’s fines would be 79
times higher under new regulation
GDPR - IN A NUTSHELL
WHEN DOES THE REGULATION START?
May 25th, 2018
WHO WILL ENFORCE IT IN THE UK?
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
WHAT’S NEW?
There are new rights for people to access the information companies hold about them,
obligations for better data management for businesses, and a new regime of fines
DOES BREXIT MATTER?
The UK is implementing a new Data Protection Bill which largely includes all the provisions
of the GDPR. There are some small changes but our own law will be largely the same
GDPR IN TOTARA 11
THE RIGHT TO BE INFORMED
New Site Policy Component
● Ability to add granular consent opt-
ins captured against user profile
● Ability to issue new versions of the
policy that all users need to agree to
● Ability for a user to review the site
policy and answers they have
currently given against any opt-ins
THE RIGHT TO OBJECT
New Site Policy Component
• Ability for a user to view
current site policy and to
change and this reflected in
their user profile
THE RIGHT OF ACCESS
User Data Output
● Output mechanism will be available
of all the data held in relation to a
person in the system
● This will be in machine-readable
format
● This will support people being able
to see their data is processed in the
way that should be described in
the site policy
THE RIGHT RECTIFICATION
No new specific functionality
• Administrators can act on
requests to rectify information
via the UI
THE RIGHT TO DATA
PORTABILITY
New specific functionality
• Admins can export all data
linked to a given user into a raw
format
• Current report builder reports
can be run against an individual
user to output data in a number
of standard formats for the
purpose of data portability
Are you ready?
• What is your organisation doing to get
ready for GDPR?
• How can you use Learning Pool services
to help you?
