The article discusses the relationship between testing and creativity in schools. It argues that exams are testing students too early and that this discourages creativity and original thinking. While exams are meant to evaluate students' abilities, they may not be the best way to do so and some talented children could be going unnoticed. The writer believes schools should focus less on exams and more on developing students' natural talents.
Tina completed the first TOEIC test online and reviewed answers, focusing on unfamiliar vocabulary like "inquiries", "laundromat", and "salute". She looked up new words in the Longman dictionary and made a list. Her goal was to retake the listening section after reviewing to improve comprehension.
Do students have the right to cut class in college final draft4Y2Fly
This document discusses whether college students should have the right to cut classes. It presents several arguments in favor of allowing students to make their own choices about class attendance. It argues that letting students cut classes allows them to learn about trade-offs when they must choose between academic and other commitments. It also claims that students will value and be more engaged with classes they have the option not to attend. Finally, it suggests that students in college need opportunities to make their own decisions and be responsible for the consequences as they learn to balance their studies and other parts of their lives.

This documentary film about Dr. Wen uses an indirect style to tell the story of Wen's family life and his work as a doctor. Scenes from home videos show Wen's family but also suggest his sadness over the death of his son Felix. The shaky camera work aims to present events in a natural, unstaged way. The film compares Wen's late son Felix with another boy, Sebastian, highlighting their different fates - one choosing suicide, the other trying to survive. Through close-ups of Wen discussing Felix's death, the camera aims to convey Wen's intense emotions of sadness over his loss.
The document provides an analysis of the symbolism in the films Rashomon and The 400 Blows. In Rashomon, the heavy rain symbolizes the collapse of humanity throughout the film. The three characters represent different aspects of humanity based on Freud's structural psychology. In The 400 Blows, the recurring symbol of "imprisonment" represents how the main character feels restricted by his family and suppressed by society. Scenes of the character in narrow spaces highlight his lack of freedom. By the end, though he escapes, the film suggests that true freedom remains elusive.
The film Ladri di biciclette (The Bicycle Thief) depicts the strong bond between a father and son in post-World War 2 Italy as they search for the father's stolen bicycle, which he needs for work. The film uses long shots and close-ups to emphasize the affection between them and the father's growing sense of helplessness. It provides a realistic and unembellished portrayal of the social and economic difficulties facing ordinary people at the time. While it doesn't rely on overt cinematic techniques, it uses camerawork and the actors' performances to convey strong emotions. The film criticizes aspects of the society that led to problems like poverty and wealth disparity.
1) The document discusses and compares several Chinese films, including "My Dad and Mom" which depicts a funeral procession in the snow, and emphasizes the sadness of the scene.
2) It notes how the film "Hero" uses different colors dramatically in each scene and was an expensive production, but discusses some ideological issues with the film.
3) The author prefers "My Dad and Mom" for its use of contrast between past and present, and its touching romance over the film "Keep Calm".

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

1. Self-paced English Learning Project Report<br />Submitted by <br />Yi-Hsin Liu<br />Department of Chemistry <br />Student ID # 972003506<br /> <br /> <br />Prepared for <br />Ms. Grace Liu <br /> <br />National Central University<br />June 12, 2011 <br />An Evaluation of the Whole Project<br /> In this class, I was guided to do self-paced learning. I know what I did is not enough, and there’s much more I can do and I should do. Since I am a junior, I hope next year, last year in my college life, I can do it better. In my syllabus, my goal is to improve my CEF self-assessment in reading part from B2C1, writing from B1B2, listening B1B2, and the most important one is to score 700 in TOEIC test. <br /> My main materials are as follows:<br />“6 Minute English” & “Talk about English” in BBC Learning English<br />Ally Mcbeal TV series<br />TED ideas worth spreading<br />CNN Student News<br />Writing weekly reports <br />I download the MP3 files from BBC learning English, so that I can keep in touch with English no matter I am riding my bike or waiting for the bus. And I use my free time to go to English Center watching TV series and movies. In this semester, I have collected up to 53 stamps. It really cheers me up.<br /> During my learning process, the way and my mood are not always smooth. Sometimes I would feel depressed and stressful, afraid of not being good enough in this process. Finally, I realized learning English is for myself and I should not be responsible for my teacher but for myself. Then I told myself to relax and choose the materials that I really love. By changing my attitude and materials, I really started falling in love with learning English.<br /> Do what I like, and keep learning English as a habit. I think I can keep flying in this long journey of self-paced English learning. <br />Self-paced Learning Weekly Report Worksheet <br />Worksheet No. __1___ Week ______6________<br />Major ____Chemistry___ Name_____ 劉依欣_ Cindy _____<br />1.Material(s) used: Please write down the name(s) of the magazine, the DVD, or other materials you used.<br />(quot;

Most people might answer, “Definitely not!” immediately. But after watching Ally, I begin to hesitate about the question. In the film, a man is busy in working so hard, and has no time to find a girlfriend or manage a relationship. He said that he used a prostitute because he did not want to go to a bar, find a woman, try to get her on his bed and have one-night stand. He thought one-night stand is kind of cheating for women. Instead, he chose to use a prostitute to cater for his sexual needs. This is an interesting thing that can be discussed. Just like “Decriminalization of sex work” is also a well-known issue in Taiwan. “Should we always tell the truth?” can be considered also. When one makes a mistake, people always say we should tell the truth. However, in “Ally”, I learn if someone’s honesty will hurt others, then s/he should consider whether to keep quiet or tell the truth. For example, if there’s a man, who loves his wife very much, he had used a prostitute out of curiosity, and swore he would never do that again. Maybe he should keep the secret in his mind, or the truth could kill his wife. Many thoughts in the films can be learned and considered. I love it pretty much!<br />Self-paced Learning Weekly Report Worksheet <br />Worksheet No. __4__ Week ______9_______<br />Major ____Chemistry____ Name_______972003506 劉依欣________<br />Material(s) used: Please write down the name(s) of the magazine, the DVD, or other materials you used.<br />(quot;

It has already become my favorite material! <br />Self-paced Learning Weekly Report Worksheet <br />Worksheet No. __6_ Week ______11____<br />Major ____Chemistry____ Name_______972003506 劉依欣________<br />1.Material(s) used: Please write down the name(s) of the magazine, the DVD, or other materials you used.<br />(quot;

I only watched one episode of Ally and 6 Minute English. I change my material of CNN news, and I found “facebook” is also an interesting material in learning English. http://www.facebook.com/BBC.tw. The website is a group, where people can discuss the news or music. Next week, I will have more free time to do self-paced learning, and the new resources are the power to push me to do more. I think I have to use more leisure time to learn English, and this is my new goal! <br /> <br />Self-paced Learning Weekly Report Worksheet <br />Worksheet No. __7___ Week ______12________<br />Major ____Chemistry_____ Name________972003506 劉依欣________<br />Material(s) used: Please write down the name(s) of the magazine, the DVD, or other materials you used.<br />(quot;

My leg was fractured. Because I went to Taipei Arena (台北小巨蛋) to go ice-skating. Everything went well at first. My friends and I were very happy skating. But, when I was happily skating with my friend, he suddenly fell down. I tried hard to hold him up; however, we both fell and he (90kgs) fell on my leg. After 2 weeks, my leg hurt so much that I went to a hospital to take a picture of X-ray. Now, I have to wear a plaster cast for another 2 weeks. This is my story. Though I wanted to go to Self-paced English Center, I think I should take more rests. I hope I can get well soon!<br /> In this week’s TED, I choose the inspiring part. Mark is a volunteer fire fighter. He told us an interesting story of his first fire. That day is a rainy mid-night. A woman’s house was on fire. He was the 2nd volunteer fire fighter to arrive there. He thought he might get a good mission. Then the captain told the 1st arriver, “go save the house owner’s dog”. And then the captain turned to Mark and said, “I need you go upstairs, through the fire, and get the house owner------a pair of shoes.” Mark was a little disappointed; however, he still did his best to get the woman a pair of shoes. After 2 week, all fire fighters received a letter from the woman. She said, “Thanks to every fire fighter’s help, everyone is so kind, somebody even got me a pair of shoes.” In this story, Mark tells us do not think what you did is nothing special. It may have special meaning in somebody’s heart. So, don’t wait, and go help more people and do more good things!! <br />Self-paced Learning Weekly Report Worksheet <br />Worksheet No. __8___ Week ____13________<br />Major __Chemistry____ Name______ Cindy 劉依欣_______<br />Material(s) used: Please write down the name(s) of the magazine, the DVD, or other materials you used.<br />(quot;

At first, I used Top down process to learn and listen to 2~3 times without script, and then I checked the script. Sometimes, the articles are still too hard for me to do top down process. Last week, I heard one classmate tell us that she used 6 Minute English to do button up process. In this week I try to read the script first, find some meaningful chunks, and then listen for 2~3 times. In this way, I can get the whole meaning quickly. I think pre-listening can help my listening ability, and pre-reading can help me know the story. Both ways have their own benefits. In the future, I may use these two ways in turn. <br /> <br />Self-paced Learning Weekly Report Worksheet <br />Worksheet No. __10___ Week _____15_________<br />Major ____Chemistry__ Name_____972003506 劉依欣____________<br />1.Material(s) used: Please write down the name(s) of the magazine, the DVD, or other materials you used.<br />(quot;

But, when I go to the English class, listen to others’ experience, I can always get my power and keep going again. <br /> I have fallen in love with “e Talk about English”, especially the series of “Better Speaking”.
