Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.

Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.

Panda Update?
Google’s Panda Update is a search
filter introduced in February 2011 meant to stop
sites with poor quality content from working their
way into Google’s top search results. Panda is
updated from time-to-time. When this happens,
sites previously hit may escape, if they’ve made
the right changes. Panda may also catch sites that
escaped before.
In short Google’s Panda updates are designed to
penalize sites with weak content and reward sites
with quality content

Penguin Update?
Google launched the Penguin Update in April 2012
Google tracks down sites that use ‘Black Hat’ SEO
techniques or are just plain Spammy. The kind of
things it looks at are paid links, keyword stuffing and
anything that contravenes the Google Webmaster
Guidelines. In previous updates Google has added
any tricks it missed the previous times.

26. What Is The Hummingbird Update?
Google launched a new “Hummingbird” algorithm in Spt. 2013, claiming that a Google Search can interact with a
user in a more “human way” and provide a more direct answer. It name comes from being “precise & fast”
Hummingbird is paying more attention to each word in a query, ensuring that the whole query - the whole
sentence or the meaning – is taken into account, rather than particular words. The goal is to provide pages
matching with the meaning of the search rather than the pages that contain just a few words
Voice search has also been enabled as part of their Chrome browser which allows web surfers to use their
computer’s microphone to speak the search query rather than having to type it out.

Mobilegeddon Update?
On 21st April 2015, Google released a significant new
mobile-friendly ranking algorithm that’s designed to give a
boost to mobile-friendly pages in Google’s mobile search
results
It’s a page-level change. For instance, if ten of your site’s
pages are mobile-friendly, but the rest of your pages aren’t,
only the ten mobile-friendly pages can be positively
impacted.
This update:
• Affects only search rankings on mobile devices
• Affects search results in all languages globally
• Applies to individual pages, not entire websites
To check if your site is mobile-friendly, you can examine
individual pages with the Mobile-Friendly Test.

be Facebook, YouTube or Gmail.
o Informational keywords : keywords used to discover on a particular topic. This includes keywords
beginning with “how to…” or “what are the best...”
o Transactional keywords : keywords entered into Google by customers wanting to complete a
