Libraries have disposed of 2 million books to make way for e-learning facilities. There are opportunities for academic communities and individuals to build communities and find mentors/buddies through social software and networks. However, formalizing social networks for learning could lead to superficial learning rather than in-depth discussion and may impinge on individuals' rights. The biggest challenge librarians face related to web 2.0 is the post-scarcity society where information is abundantly available.
