In this slid show, we will discuss about different aspects of demand theory. It contains definition, types, determinants, law , different elasticity of demand and measurements of demand. This will be helpful to students of MBS program and others.
Price elasticity of supply measures the responsiveness to the supply of a good or service after a change in its market price. According to basic economic theory, the supply of a good will increase when its price rises. Conversely, the supply of a good will decrease when its price decreases.

What is Band Wagon & Snob effect
It shows the relationship between consumer demand for goods and services and their prices. Demand theory forms the basis for the demand curve, which relates consumer desire to the amount of goods available.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

constant.
Inocme of the consumer remains same.
There is no expectation of change in price in
the future.
Tastes and Preferences of the consumer
remains the same.
4. Important Facts
Inverse Qualitative,
Relationship Not Quantitative
Price ∝ Quantity ✓Change in amount
demanded
No Proportional One-Sided
Relationship It only tells the effect
Px falls qty demanded of change in Px on qty.
by 10% dec. in any prop. demanded.
5. Reasons
1) Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility
2) Substitution Effect
3) Income Effect
4)Additional Customers
5) Different Uses
6. Exceptions 1) Goods of Ostenation
2) Giffen Goods
3)Fear of Shortage
4) Ignorance
5) Fashion related goods

7. Individual vs Market Demand
Individual Demand
Quantity demanded of a
commodity by an individual
at a given price at a given
period of time.
May or may not follow the
Law of Demand.
Not affected by all the
factors affecting market
demand.
Market Demand
Quantity demanded of a
commodity by an individual
at a given price at a given
period of time.
Always follow the Law of
Demand
Affected by all the
factors affecting individual
demand.
10. Expansion vs Contraction in
Demand
Expasion in Demand
Rise in quantity demand3d
due to fall in the price of
the commodity, other
factors remaining constant.
It leads to downward
movement along the same
demand curve.
It is also known as
“Increase in Quantity
demanded” or “Extension in
Demand”.
Contraction in Demand
Fall in quantity demand3d
due to rise in the price of
the commodity, other
factors remaining constant.
It leads to an upward
movement along the same
demand curve.
It is also known as
“Decrease in Quantity
demanded”.
13. Reasons
Change in Price Of
Substitute Goods
Complementary Goods
Change in income of

Leads to
Change in Factors Other than Price
Shift in Demand Curve
Rightward Shift
(Increase in Demand)
Leftward Shift
(Decrease in Demand)
15. Increase vs Decrease in
Demand
Increase in Demand
Increase in Demand refers
to a rise in the demand of a
commodity caused due to
any factor other than the
own price of the
commodity.
Demand rises at the same
price or demand remains
same even at higher prices.
This leads to Rightward
Shift in Demand Curve.
Decrease in Demand
Decrease in Demand refers
to a fall in the demand of a
commodity caused due to
any factor other than the
own price of the
commodity.
Demand falls at the same
price or demand remains
same even at lower prices.
This leads to Leftward
Shift in Demand Curve.
16.
17. Substitute Goods
Substitute goods are those goods which can be
used in place of the one another for
satisfaction of a particular want.
Example: Tea and Coffee
19. Substitute vs
Complementary Goods
Substitute good
Used in place of one
another to satisfy a
particular want.
They have competitive
demand.
Price of one substitute
good has positive
relationship with quantity
demanded of another
substitute good.
Example: Coke and Pepsi
Complementary good
Used together to satisfy a
particular want.
They have joint demand.
Price of a complementary
good has negative
relationship with quantity
demanded of another
complementary good.
Example: Car and Petrol
20. Normal Goods
Normal Goods refers to those goods whose
demand increases with an increase in income.
Example: If the demand for TV increases
with a rise in income, then TV will be called a
normal good.
Income effect is
positive in case of
a normal good.
21. Inferior Goods
Inferior Goods refers to those goods whose
demand decreases with an increase in income.
Example: If the income of a consumer rises and
he prefers to replace his B/W TV with a
coloured one, then demand for B/W TV will
fall. Then the B/W TV will be an inferior good.
Income effect is
negative in case of
an inferior good.
22. Normal vs Inferior Goods
Normal good
Normal Goods refer to
those goods whose demand
increases with an increase
in income.
Income effect is positive in
case of normal goods.
There is a direct relation
between income and
demand for normal goods.
“Full Cream Milk” is a
normal good if its demand
increases with an increase
in income.
Inferior good
Inferior Goods refer to
those goods whose demand
decreases with a increase
in income.
Income effect is negative
in case of inferior goods.
There is an inverse relation
between income and
demand for inferior goods.
“Toned Milk” is an inferior
good if its demand
decreases with an increase
in income.
