Chile, Indonesia, And Turkey
Mint countries refer to Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey, which are economies that are
gaining considerable investment interest given their potential for substantial economic growth.
The features which these countries share are a fairly large population, which is considered to be
young and growing and in addition a prime geographic location to capitalise upon nearby global
markets. These features are distinctive against the developed markets and certain BRIC
economies which are considered to have an ageing population which is drawing away from their
growth potential. According to GDP figures, based on PPP valuation, the growth rates for the
MINT economies across 2013 and 2014 have averaged at 5.70%. This is significant given that
over the same time horizon the BRIC economies, considered the pinnacle of emerging market
growth, experienced a rate of 3.39%. This was relatively lower in comparison eluding towards a
shift in the investment potential from BRIC towards Mint Economies. In addition it is worth
considering that emerging economies having been attracting increasingly more Foreign Direct
Investment (FDI) having accounted for 52% of global FDI inflows according to recent data.
Looking closer at the FDI spread based on regional allocation it is worth noting that Nigeria
received the greatest proportion of FDI in Africa, Indonesia in South Eastern Asia, Mexico in
Central America and Turkey in West Asia. This demonstrates the investment potential within the

The Australian Government Essay
When you think of the land down under you don t really think of the kind of government they have.
I chose to write about the Australian government because I really don t hear much about Australia.
It currently has a pretty interesting story to tell when it comes to their government. I became a bit
interested in Australian politics when I saw a political animated cartoon on the internet that
depicted Kevin Rudd, the last Prime Minister, on a news television show and it was quite
humorous. I am going to give a quick history lesson on Australiathen go into how the government
formed and came to be. Then I will talk about the Australian constitution, the Australian arms of
government, their federal system, political parties and Australia s... Show more content on

Penal colonies are places when some send their inmates to be exiled. It was said that about 160,000
people were brought into Australia. Many Europeans decided to immigrate to Australia and because
of this and after a while the economy and colonies of Australia, under the British rule, started to
grow (Austrailian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade).
Now I shall talk about how the Australian Constitution. It s common knowledge to know that a
constitution is pretty much the law of the land and a foundation of the laws that rule there.
Constitutions are very important for countries to have. Helen Irving explains in The Oxford
Companion of Australian Politics that, Its Preamble records the agreement of the six Australian
colonies to federate in 1901 and to remain together as one indissoluble federal Commonwealth .
The Australian Constitution was written as a bill when the colonies met in 1890. The constitution
has a full draft by the end of 1891 but colonial parliaments failed to pass it (Irving).
It took about 10 years in 1901 that the constitution was finally ratified. They were finally an
independent nation and no longer under the

Tropical Deforestation and Its Effect on Global Climate...
Tropical Deforestation and Its Effect on Global Climate
Abstract
Rainforests are the predominant natural vegetation throughout the wet tropics. The defining
characteristics of a tropical rainforest are temperature and rainfall. Wherever temperature is high
enough and rainfall heavy and regular enough, there is rainforest (Bagheera, 1996). Tropical
rainforests of all kinds once covered approximately 14 percent of the Earth s surface, more than
eight million square miles (Conservation International, 1998); forming an equatorial green belt
around the Earth rich in diverse plant and animal species. Humans have already destroyed half of
this forest area, with most damage occurring in the last 200 years (Bagheera, 1996). In 1987 alone

In contrast to destructive practices that profit a few but destroy the forest for all, intact tropical
rainforests provide long term, widely distributed benefits. These benefits include increased
biodiversity, protection of wildlife, food, fuel, medicines, building materials, and global climate
stabilization (Bagheera, 1996,p.2). Due to the magnitude of tropical deforestation that has occurred,
its potential affect on loss of biodiversity and alteration of world climate, this is arguably the most
important global conservation issue today (Kricher, 1997).
Discussion
Global warming and tropical deforestation have a symbiotic relationship, each being a causal
factor for the breakdown of the other. For each hectare of forest that is cleared and burned,
about 220 tons of carbons are released into the atmosphere (Holloway, 1993). Carbon is released
primarily in the form of CO2, carbon dioxide, with the burning of fallen vegetation from cleared
forest. In addition, the cleared forest is no longer there to act as a sink for carbon dioxide to take
it up in the process of photosynthesis (Kricher, 1997). The build up of carbon dioxide causes
sunlight to be trapped in the atmosphere and through the greenhouse effect the Earth s temperature
rises (Myers, 1979). Over the past century the global average temperature has already increased by

Ivanovich Shishkin Analysis
I have chosen Realism to write about. Realism art is beautiful in its own way. The artist I picked
is named Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin. His artwork is outstandingly beautiful. He really grasps the real
life images and makes it into great artwork. I have not ever really paid attention to art, but his
paintings definitely stand out. The realismmovement in French are flourished from around 1840
until the late nineteenth century. It sought to convey a truthful and objective vision of
contemporary life. Realism came about after the Revolution of 1848 which overturned the
monarchy of Louis Philippe and developed during the second empire under Napoleon III. Society
fought for democratic reform. While society fought for democratic reform the artists fought in their
own way. The Realists democratized art by depicting modern subjects drawn from the... Show more

Sometimes he sat out in the horrible dry heat to get his painting and sometime he was out in the
freezing cold. He is also interesting because he actually went to different places and found
someplace he liked and sat there and started. It was just like someone going on a hike or
something and stopping to take a photo. I can really tell that he loves the wilderness because of
how he captures it into his art. He really knew how to mix the colors together to get the skies and
waters to look perfect. You can tell he took a lot of time and put a lot of heart into all of his
works. The only thing that I could not get myself to like was his winter paintings. I really did not
look at any other winter paintings besides his, but the white just made everything washed out.
They had nothing that really stood out to me. They looked very amateur. Maybe that is why he
really did not paint them often. Most of all his paintings he incorporated trees somehow. Either
they were the main focus or they were all over. He excelled in painting

Media s Growing Sexualization Of Women
If you turn on the television or flip through a fashion magazine, it is very likely you will presented
with many displays of hypersexualization of girls and women in advertising images and in media.
There are many components to sexualization. It occurs, according to the American Psychological
Association, when a person s value comes only from his or her sexual appeal or behavior, to the
exclusion of other characteristics. This person is held to a standard that equates physical
attractivenesswith being sexy. Sexualizationhappens when a person is sexually objectified that is,
made into a thing for others sexual use, rather than being seen as a person with their own
independent actions and abilities to make decisions. Oftentimes, sexuality is inappropriately
imposed upon a person without their knowing it or consent. Sometimes, researchers use the word
hypersexualization to describe roughly the same idea. In the article, Media s Growing
Sexualization of Women , hypersexualization is defined as, The act of making something
extremely sexual and erotic. The hypersexualization of females is fairly prevalent across different
cultures. The media seems to be bombarded by it; magazines are plastered with risque images of
barely clothed womanand even young girls. In 2011, a French issue of Vogue featured females as
young as ten years old as models, Stretched and slinked on an array of animal furs. Their clothing
was low cut and revealing. This prompted the French

Ronald Reagan s Foreign Policy
Ronald Reagan was an actor and cowboy that must of the world didn t take serious at first! But
once he took the oath of office; he would get the world s attention. He enters into office with the
United States in an economic and military mess. He would fix the economic mess by cutting
taxes and jump starting the economy. The military would be fixed by his Doctrine. The Reagan
Doctrine was an aggressive foreign policy from 1981 87 in his first term as President he
designed a plan to roll back Communism at its weakest points, and weaken the U.S.S.R by
targeting the overthrow of its marginal allies in the non industrialized World. Many pundits argue
that it was a smashing success and dramatically undermined the power of the U.S.S.R, forcing it
to retreat, and collapse by 1989. Reagan s foreign policy could be stated by his view of the
U.S.S.R as the Evil Empire that is an illegitimate state. He rejected the dГ©tente policy that Richard
Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter had pursued until 1979, when the U.S.S.R invaded
Afghanistan proved its failure. Reagan long had opposed the containment strategy. Reagan instead
proposed Rollback, a strategy to steadily reduce and eventually eliminate the Communist threat. In
1981 the newly elected Reagan rejected Henry Kissinger and other advocates of dГ©tente and
brought in hard liners, many of them previously associated with Democratic Senator Henry
Jackson. The Reagan Doctrine in fact operated as early as 1981, without a name, but

Ambiguism In The Demon Lover By Elizabeth Bowen
The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen s is set in London during World War II. Bowen adopts a
common folklore theme of the demon lover in her short story in which a woman is left
traumatized during the blitz in World War II. The story follows a married middle age woman
who is haunted by the ghost of her love from her youth. This ghost was known to be killed in the
First World War nearly twenty five years earlier. Bowens focuses on the atmosphere to create a
disturbing ambiguity leading to many interpretations to what seems like a simple ghost story; the
reader wonders if the ghost is a supernatural body or a disquieting delusion that Mrs. Drover
observes. The main message conveyed in this story is that no bad deed goes unpunished. Mrs.
Drover;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bowen then uses a flashback to link this letter to the dead fiance. Mrs. Drover thinks back to her
former nameless fiance who went off to fight during World War I and was presumably killed,
this vision reinforces the sense of him potentially being the demon lover of the title. She is
keenly aware of her surroundings after reading this letter: the atmosphere such as the striking of
the clock, the weather, and particularly, a sense of strangeness. The letter lying on the table
compels her to imagine the various possibilities for how the letter got there in the first place. She
believes the letter written by K is some sort of threat from a ghost. This letter greatly unnerves
her and she rushes upstairs and begins to pack her things. She then rushes into a taxi only to see
the face of the driver as her demon lover, she begins to scream and pound the glass between
them. Perhaps the driver of the taxi Akca, 2 was the soldier, incarnated as a demon has come to
retrieve the damned Mrs. Drover. In addition, it can be thought of as the ghost of World War I
coming back to haunt World War II. The setting is that of the empty streets of London, the
inhabitants had all fled their homes to escape the destruction that came with war. There is a

Story Of Oj Simpson Essay
Consequently, there is a powerful and depressing theme in The Story of O.J. which attacks the
idea of black content being under white control head on. To further express this, Jay Z uses a
line from the O.J. Simpson TV miniseries called The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime
Story, in which the famous arrested football stated from behind bars: I m not black. I m O.J. with
Jay Z, skeptical replied okay . He might have responded that way because Simpson, like many
other prominent African American figures who have made it, have wrongly thought that his or her
owns success would exempt them from the reality of racially discrimination in America. Jay Z
compares this narrow minded mentality to drug dealers risking their lives over corners that they
don t even own, and athletes who turn their back on their community when they make it big and to
rappers who sign away control of their careers to big names who like Warner Bros who once,

Cole, where during the 1960s he and a few other African Americans were able to play the leading
role shows that were actually based on the lives of African Americans but they still forced to
conform to a setting that did not allow them to discuss issues concerning cultural repetitions, social
themes, and professional conventions that they dared not transgress (156). This is the same
conformation process that Hip Hop artistes have found themselves in today as the lay helpless in

Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation is a well written narrative about America s
founding fathers and the years that followed the Revolutionary War. Ellis s book is appealing to
anyone who is interested in learning about the roots of our founding brothers. The book is also
well written in the aspect of not being long and drawn out into one big story. Instead, Ellis breaks
the book down in to six stories that talk about different situations with American historical figures.
Ellis uses more than one type of historical writing throughout the six stories. He uses social,
economic and political types of history throughout this book.
Overall Joseph J. Ellis showed the significant role the leaders played in the founding of our country.
Each character that Ellis brings forth in a story had a great impact not only on America then, but
also where America s nation is concerned today. Ellis also shows the importance of knowing about
the roots of the founding fathers of our nation. Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation is
not only informative, but also compelling in its stories to keep the reader intrigued.

Stray Cats Collaboration
Today I met with a volunteer from the Cat Network, an organization that spays and neuters stray
cats in South Florida. The volunteer, Ibis, is currently volunteering at the adoption center, a
place were people looking to adopt a pet can find cats in need of homes. She takes care of the cats
by cleaning their cages and making sure they are well fed. She also lets them out of their cage
sometimes to play and get exercise.
When asked why the Cat Network is needed in our community she says that South Florida is
currently dealing with a massive overpopulation of stray cats. This overpopulation has continued to
expand in size and will only get worse through the years. Stray cats live hard and dangerous lives
in the streets and their lives can get even worse if they get pregnant. Cats can get pregnant the
moment they turn 4 months, meaning they can give birth when they re only 6 months old. And
cats don t just have one or two babies; they have litters. Typically, a cat has around 4 to 6 babies
in a litter. Finding stray cats and spaying, vaccinating, and then releasing them saves them from
living even worse lives. It also decreases the amount of stray cats living in the area since the cat ...

life: helping and caring for animals. She feels that through the Cat Network impacted many
people s lives by helping them gain a new family member. She definitely feels like she s making a
difference and believes that the cats would be living worse lives if it weren t for the work that the
Cat Network does. She states that she loves this organization and plans to continue volunteering

Octavia Butler s The Parable Of The Talents In The...
Parable of the Talents Beginning in the 12th century, in the middle of the Medieval Ages, just
centuries after the fall of the greatest empire of classical history, the Roman Empire. There was an
invasion of religious frustration that swept across much of Europe, they were the inquisitions.
These various inquisitions caused a quake of fear for anyone that was suspected of betraying the
Catholic Churchor the Vatican. Though it was not just religious heresy and other religious groups, it
was also Pagans, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Atheists, Freethinkers, Philosophers, Humanists, and
many others. Burning them at the stake, accusing them of heresy, and sending them to trial, and
inevitably their death (Bad News About Christianity). These various inquisitions, and the protestant
reformationwas known as one of humanities darkest events in history. People lived in fear of
accusation, death, and the social norms of this era; the world was living in a shadow of fear,
thousands dying by knife, ax, and fire. Over the course of 500 years, religious conflict spread
across Europe, though it was a widespread issue, it was tolerated by many. There are many
similarities between Octavia Butler s book, The Parable of the Talents and the various inquisitions
of human history, and through the persecutions and conversations of religious groups, the religious
chaos at this time, and how Lauren s character is similar to a religious icon during these times there
is evidence that Butler s novel

Individuality In Anthem
Ego a person s sense of self esteem or self importance. Also known as the forbidden word of the
totalitarian society created by Ayn Rand in Anthem. In Rand s 1938 novel, her main character,
Equality 7 2125 unknowingly followed the path of individuality, which was against the wishes of
society. Proving that knowledge is a product of the observations and mental integrations of
individuals, he rebelled against the ideals his society chained him with. He found his ego and sense
of self, amidst a world who deemed it a sin to do so. Through the point of view/narration, themes,
characterization and conflicts, Rand wanted to convey the dangers of a failed government, and the
need for individuality.
When beginning the novel, Rand uses a first person point of view, yet instead of the common
plural forms of, I and My , she has the narrator use, We and Our. Equality was taught that
individuality didn t exist, and instead that all men must be alike, therefore there is only, we. Upon
reading this, it seems as if Rand was writing about multiple people, yet this is how the society
must address themselves, because no man gets singled out. The plural forms remain the same,
until the beginning of chapter eleven, where Equality finally discovers the form of, I . This type
of narration allowed the ideals of society to be made apparent, and progressed the plot in Equality s
search of individuality.
Individualism and collectivism are two core themes that are present in the novel. It s as if these
two themes work against each other, in order to obtain individuality, you must get rid of
collectivism, and vice versa. As Equality lives through his days, he discovers his unspoken lover,
the Golden One , and begins to explore egotistical thoughts, where his curiosity grew even greater.
In chapter nine, Equality began finally discovering individuality, where he was torn on finding the
certain word that society had hidden. And we felt torn, torn for some word we could not find.
(Rand 112) In the beginning of chapter eleven, after finding a home from the unmentionable times,
he had discovered individuality within the form of I , and his mind opened up to the many great
things of this world. Equality discovering individuality

Hindu Nationalism And Its Impact On India
of India, due to which it remained marginalized as an electoral post (not social post) for a while.
The primary support of Hindu Nationalism comes from the Northern and Western parts of India.
Being a center right movement, it is seen to have major differences with Congress. They are
driven by ideology and faith, and are traditionally conservatives. It is seen that they are able to
mobilize a large section of the population who trust leaders and parties that use religion as a
mobilizing factor. Indiabeing a Hindu majority country, has a large Hindu religious voter base and
the BJP over the year have been able to mobilize on this portion of the population who are driven
by the idea of Hindu nationalism. It is important to remember that even though the Hindu
nationalism movement was marginalized electorally during the early years after the
Independence, it remained strong and influential throughout society and over there years
gradually gained support and electoral posts in Indian politics. The BJP is a party of the strong,
meaning that it is an organization run by the educated upper class and is backed by political and
economic elites. It follows a dual targeting voter strategy, in which the Party politics takes care of
the interests of the upper class (consisting of business and political elites), and then there are social
organizations in place that do charity and other social work that takes care of the poor. The BJP as
a party has an organization centric party structure.

Proper Dog Grooming
Dog grooming is not only about making your dog look good. There are many other benefits that
are associated with proper dog grooming which many owners have failed to notice.
Grooming removes the dead hair and dirt from the dog. This keeps the coat and skin healthy and
prevents any parasites and harmful bacteria that cause infection. Also through trimming and filing
the nails, we reduced the tendencies for dogs to develop bone related problems such as stiffness in
the joints. Regular brushing of the teeth is important as we are protecting the most valuable and
vulnerable assets of the dogs which allow chew properly and prevent digestive issues. Most
importantly, in grooming, we can also detect any abnormalities in the dog in the process.

in general economic activity, typically involving two consecutive quarters of decline in gross

Macroeconomist Dean Baker argued: The central element in the current financial crisis is the
housing bubble. The irrational exuberance surrounding this bubble created an environment that was
ripe for the cowboy financing that got... the country into so much trouble. With encouragement
from politically influential persons to increase home ownership rates and the optimism that
followed the yields on government bonds, lenders and investors sought assets with even higher
yields. The problem, however, was the lack of credit worthy borrowers. To remedy this, lenders
sought out those who would not ordinarily meet typical credit standards within the sub prime (and
non standard loans) segment of the housing market. These subprime borrowers were considered
profitable and were viewed as the solution to the lenders search for higher yields. This, of course,
was a much riskier tactic and led banks to hide their questionable transactions. The actions on
behalf of the banks, along with their reckless behavior, resulted in the creation of the subprime US

Danger Of Imagination In Atonement By Ian Mcewan
How does McEwan explore the danger of an imagination that can t quite see the boundaries of what
is real and what is unreal ?
Ian McEwan s 2001 metafiction text Atonement explores the danger of an imagination which
cannot differentiate between reality and fantasy. Atonement follows the detrimental effects of
Briony Tallis lie which convicted the innocent Robbie Turner and ultimately destroyed her
relationship with Cecilia Tallis, her older sister. Through innocence, negative consequences, and the
significance of the title, Ian McEwan is able to thoroughly explore the danger of an imagination
that can t quite see the boundaries of what is real and what is unreal.

Ian McEwan uses the letters as a narrative device to catalyse Briony Tallis dangerous imagination
in correlation to the events which follow. There are many letters embedded into the text which
are used to reveal the innermost thoughts of the central characters. McEwan uses parody of
Austen s style when Briony reads in my dreams I kiss your c t. Ian McEwan employs this word
to mislead the reader s belief in Robbie s character. McEwan employs parody of Northanger Abbey
to attribute to the effectiveness of letters, and shock the reader. The use of c t would not be
expected in an Austen novel which presents conservative beliefs in conventional language. Ian
McEwan utilises allusion of Vladimir Nabokov s Lolita to depict the relationship between Paul
Marshall and Lola Quincey. The reader is aware of this allusion through the naming of Lola
Quincey, similar to the protagonist of Lolita. This allusion foreshadows the rape of Lola, Paul is
not convicted when Briony claims that she saw him [Robbie], with her own two eyes. McEwan
uses this allusion to portray how Briony s imagination convinces her that Paul Marshall is innocent
while Robbie Turner is the criminal. Through allusion to Lolita, McEwan suggests to the reader
that the novel will be dark and disturbing, similar to Nabokov s novel and the gothic literature
pastiche which McEwan utilises. McEwan is able to force the reader to consider the dangers of a
mind which cannot distinguish real from unreal by highlighting how falsification from an

The Consumer Decision Making Process
Introduction Consumer behaviour examines how individuals acquire, use and dispose of
company offerings (Noel 2009). Acquiring a product or service is not the only consideration of
consumer behaviour but the various stages and processes before these offerings are bought. In
this essay I will be analysing a television purchase I made from Argos using the consumer
decision making process and concluding with a justification in the context on consumer decision
making process. The consumer decision making process is a compound process, which involves
six stages problem recognition, Information search, pre purchase evaluation of alternatives,
purchase, consumption, post consumption evaluation and divestment. First Stage: Problem
Recognition Problem recognition is the first stage in the consumer making process; it arises
when there is an occurrence of a want or need. These needs could be simple, complicated or
ambiguous depending on a consumer s needs, attitudes, expectations, and personality. Maslow s
hierarchy of needs suggests that the basic needs such as food, sleep and shelter need to be
satisfied before moving up the pyramid, however, in my case I prioritized my safety and esteem
needs. Having moved into a new apartment of my own, I presumed the TV I had bought a year
ago was out dated, small, and not sophisticated enough and later came to a conclusion to purchase
another TV which suited my taste and preferences. Prior or to coming to this decision, I had to

Analysis Of The Play Oedipus The King

Hubris Midterm Paper
No, man s knowledge here can go beyond his experience. John Locke. Knowledge is definitely
power. To have power over anyone or anything out
there you must know what you are doing.
Knowledge gives you options, Knowledge enables bigger and better weapons. A sense of higher
status. Very often will you find knowledge allows one to recognize opportunity. One character in
the play Oedipus the King, Tiresias carries a great sense of knowledge. That he knows how to stay
humble with. Which does not lead to his downfall unlike Oedipus the King.
 Knowledge means
one has the resources to obtain and be flexible with useful and informative information in order
to become well informed citizens who can make intelligent decisions based upon their
understanding and awareness of everyday situations. Does this make them powerful? Not
always. Although he was blind Tiresias was the wisest in the whole village. He would be the
one that anyone came to for advice. He had a lot of knowledge but no power. With time we came
to learn that Oedipus has power without any knowledge to help him carry out any plans. I
believe people often mix up hubris with self confidence. The first definition of hubris in the
Merriam Webster dictionary is a great or foolish amount of pride or confidence . Oedipus is
basically drenched in hubris. This man lives off of his pride. In the begging of the play when
Oedipus was addressing

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Printers
A printer is external hardware output device that takes the electronic data stored on a computer
or may be on other device and generates a hard copy of it and that hardcopy may be used as
future references. For example, if you created a report on your computer you could print several
copies to hand out at a staff meeting. Printers are one of the most popular computer peripherals and
are commonly used to print text and photos.
A printer is an output device that usually prints characters, symbols, and graphics on paper. The
printed output is generally referred to as hardcopy because it is in the permanent form which we
can use for future references. Softcopy refers to temporary images or we can say in temporary
form which may or may not be used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In business where enormous amount of material are printed, the character at a time printers are too
slow; therefore, these users need line at a time printers. Line printers, or line at a time printers, use
special mechanism that can print a whole line at once; they can typically print the range of 1,200 to
6,000 lines per minute. Drum, chain, and band printers are line at a time printers.
Drum printer
A drum printer consists of a solid, cylindrical drum that has raised characters in bands on its
surface. The number of print positions across the drum equals the number available on the page.
This number typically ranges from 80 132 print positions. The drum rotates at a rapid speed. For
each possible print position there is a print hammer located behind the paper. These hammers
strike the paper, along the ink ribbon, against the proper character on the drum as it passes. One
revolution of the drum is required to print each line. This means that all characters on the line are
not printed at exactly the same time, but the time required to print the entire line is fast enough to
call them line printers. Typical speeds of drum printers are in the range of 300 to 2000 lines per

Wireless Communication Advantages And Disadvantages
ABSTRACT
In this global world of technologies where the communication is being modern day by day, on
every other day the new technologies are being invented so in this vast world of growing
technologies the cognitive radio network is another addition and a step toward fast and secure
communication. Cognitive radio network is the network used for wireless communication which
uses the spectrum of frequencies. It is an intelligent network in a sense that it can recognize the
channels in use or vacant, the ability of this network is that it can shift the data on vacant channel
without letting the other busy channel get disturbed. CRN is a technology which works on the
spectrum of frequencies, sensing the spectrum of frequencies at receiver s ... Show more content on

It is an amazing approach toward the wireless technology being used in present era of technology
where the radios will be able to use the spectrum of frequencies in a new and classy way. This
technology will be able to sense and identify the changes environmentally in its surrounding and can
change its configuration according to present situations so that CRN can demonstrate the best result
which can be achieved. The CRN use most probable techniques by which the quality of
communication can be improved. This technology is able to modify or change the parameters of its
transmitter for an improved communication experience for user. The radios used earlier were
carried with an assumption of working on spectrum band considered as to be idle of interference
there was no need of bestowing these radios the ability to change the parameters of its transmitter,
channel or spectrum. Through distinction xMax cognitive radios are able to sense the environment
excellently by which then the CRN will notice which spectrum is not used thus immediately use the
vacant spectrum for receiving and sending the data also it will come to know if there is any sort of
interference has occurred on frequencies being used it do pay sharp glimpse on such interference.
Whereas Amax hunts out the limitations of interference occurred. The CRN simply works on four
simple techniques, spectrum sensing, spectrum management, spectrum sharing and spectrum
mobility. Spectrum sensing is the first necessary

Bond A Matic Marketing Plan
Executive Summary With the introduction of a unique low cost adhesive dispensing product
named as Bond A Matic (BAM), Loctite Inc is seeking to resolve dispensing issues such as
clogging in smaller adhesive bottles. As a leader in development of high performance adhesives

The focus should be to advertize BAM as a Product that fits small firm needs instead of marketing
it just as a low cost solution . This strategy would reflect better on the Loctite brand and would
not jeopardize existing equipment (sold to large firms) sales. 2) Combine BAM advertisements
with the Super Bonder adhesive advertisement. This would help to promote joint sales as well as
help reduce advertisement costs. The selling point for small firms is low cost equipment that
optimizes use of high quality adhesive and reduces total cost. By eliminating clogging,
providing faster application and reducing assembly errors (Exhibit 8), BAM will be positioned
as the product that reduces mess and helps small firms save on labor and adhesive costs (more
under pricing strategy). 3) Include brochures on Bond A Matic with 1 lb packages of Super
Bonder adhesives with 10 packs of 1 oz Super Bonder bottles. Include product information
highlighting benefits such as anti clogging, no mess/waste (and others in Exhibit 8), a response
/ordering card with discount coupons. Sales personnel could follow up any leads that come from
brochure response. 4) Include one year limited warranty (include warranty registration card)
instead of 30 day free trial to reduce return expected costs. This plan would also go well with the
Loctite brand image. 5) Offer bulk purchase discounts and build proper incentives to sales force to
persuade distributors and

Evaluating The Play Julius Caesar
In this project we had to create a film that incorporated the play Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, by
using a reality TV show. One of the very first obstacles we had went through was deciding on
which reality TV to use. I had wanted to do the reality TV show called Survivor, but most of my
other group members wanted to do The Kardashians. The reason I had wanted to do survivor was
because I felt like it gave our filma really good structure to follow unlike The Kardashians. We
easily resolved this issue by just taking a vote, which led to my group using The Kardashians.
This was an example of one of our group s smaller issues. Now moving on to a bigger issue that we
had, which was trying to find days for when we could meet up after school to get our filming...

We did finally figure out some days and places that we were able to meet up. We ended up going
to Barnes Nobles, Mia s house, and we also stayed after school twice. One thing that made it hard
to find a day to meet up is because of one of my group members in particular, Vanessa. She was
always busy and always seemed to have some type of excuse to not being able to meet up. While
trying to figure out how long we were going to stay at Barnes Nobles to film we decided to stay
from one pm to 5 pm and Vanessa responded by saying Well I have a life, so I don t want to stay
that long . When she had made that comment everyone in my group just looked at her with a
dumbfounded look. After that comment, it lead to another big issue in my group; the unreliability
of Vanessa. There were many moments that made Vanessa unreliable: waiting till the last
moment to do her part of the script, barely being able to make it to any of the meeting we had
after school, being off task, and messing up her part of the script. On top of that she was bossy at
times when she didn t even earn the right to be

Gilded Age Robber Barons Analysis
Robber Barons of The Gilded Age The Gilded Age was the period of transformation in the
economy, technology, government, and social customs of America. Robber Barons were
businessmen who used unfair tactics to help the union. The people who had jobs were
struggling to the fact that they have low pay and working condition is bad. So many people
were struggling because of these low cut pays. Also, little kids had to work but did not get paid,
these kids should not have been working since they let them work they at least should have paid
them for their hard work and dedication. Robber Barons used unfair tactics by giving poor working
condition, low paychecks, and child labor. According to a U.S. History.org article, the author
reveals that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that kids were forced to work and had no education. Some kids may have faced
working problems as much as adults do. If the kids do not have an education they would have to
face working at a place for their lifetime. As a result, this shows one of the robber baron problems
that people faced back then and kids should not be working because they should be able to have an
education. During the Gilded Age, wages were very low even though people were getting injured
or sick from their job. According to the American History textbook, Lapsansky Werner discusses,
When Carnegie amasses a fortune, steelworkers in his plant labored to 10 12 hours a day, six
days a week, for about 15 cents an hour. (P.69) This shows how low these workers get paid they
are being overworked by these businessmen, people should not be working for half the day and
be off one day. Also, kids were not getting money for working. The kids were working for about
half the day instead of getting an education since they are not getting paid, they are out there in
the real world working their butts off. This shows robber baron problems, these people are
working so hard and they are either getting paid low or no not at all. As a result, since people are
working so hard people should be getting paid the right amount or more depending on their jobs
and if the kids don t get money they should just let them get an education instead of being in a
factory for half the day, these kids

Autism Spectrum
The study and research pertaining to autism is very broad and includes more than just autism
itself. A child with an autistic disorder is hard to identify because autism is not easily seen. Autism
is more of a mental and social disorder; it doesn t really have anything to do with a physical
outlook. The autismdisorder doesn t only deal with autism; there are five other primary disorders
involved with autism. When screening a child for autism, they will find out if any other disorders
should be diagnosed. Screening children for autism at a young age can be beneficial in diagnosing

The Management Philosophy of Gemba Kaizen Essay
Introduction
Masaaki Imai, author of Gemba Kaizen, states that companies, particularly in manufacturing field,
can become more profitable by continuously looking for efficiencies. In Western style management
it is more common to seek huge leaps. In Japanese style Kaizen businesses must try to eliminate
anything that is inefficient thus cutting waste. Imai gives impressive examples from real world
situations and supports them with case studies that show Kaizen in work.
Discussion
1) The theme. Gemba Kaizen is divided into two major parts. The first part is well organized and
deeply explained, very easy to read and understand overview of lean management concepts. Author
has done a great job of reviewing the key concepts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every manager wants to increase revenues with low expenses involved. Being familiar and actual
usage of Gemba Kaizen at the production facility will help managers to improve the work process
and get respect of growing number of satisfied customers.
3) Gemba and Delivery. Gemba is where the customers come into contact with the services
offered. Gemba is present in the workplace of every company whether it is administrative or bank
worker. The problem with modern western managers is that they prefer to sit at there desks with
the desire to distance themselves from real events. They contact with reality only through their
reports. (Masaaki, Imai: Gemba Kaizen. Mc Graw Hill, 1997, p. 3 5).
Gemba means the real place or the place where value is added. In manufacturing it is the shop
floor. It is the centre of what is right and what is wrong with all plant processes. Practicing of
kaizen (improvement) in Gemba may improve not only the plant performance, but also the delivery
system as well. Constantly improving the work place where actual production is done will increase
the quality of products and thus the way they are delivered to customers. Going to Gemba provides
real information, not the one manager sees in the reports.
4) Kaizen and Lean Management. In the context of Kaizen management has two major functions:
(1) maintenance or activities directed toward maintaining

You are listening to WBML 95.5 FM live broadcasting on your radio dial. I am Alice Jordan
reporting your evening news on the Great War of 1914. Woodrow Wilson was the 28th
President of the United States during World War one. The outbreak of the Great War of 1914,
also known as World War I, started with the assassination of Austria Archduke Franz Ferdinand,
who was shot to death by Gavrilo Princip (Columbia Southern University, (CSU), n.d.). The
Prime Minister of Great Britain during the Great War was David George Lloyd (CSU, n.d.).
World War1 was the very first modern and trench war, as well as, the last war governed by
European traditional Monarchies (CSU, n.d.). Also, World War I
created political dislodgments
socially and economically that assisted in reshaping the Americans life, even after Armistice
Day (Faragher, Buhle, Czitrom, Armitage, 2009). The global effect of World War I involving
the U.S. in regards to other countries in the world remained profound (Faragher, B, C, A, 2009).
However, during the Great War on the home front, mixed reviews surfaced concerning the war.
Several groups feared for their love ones that were miles and miles away fighting in the war
(CSU, n.d.). During the Great, War women were given opportunities that were not available before
World War I, such as being able to be active participants in the war (America s Great War, 2002).

Analysis Of The Play The Red And Brown Water Essay
Experience Essay About a month ago, my friend invited me to a play on campus that he was
going to be staring in. The play was titled, In the Red and Brown Water, and it was located at the
Annex theatre. I was curious to know what the play was about so that I can get an idea of what to
expect. He mentioned that it is a detailed representation of black culture in the projects of
Louisiana. Being that I am an African Americanmale who was raised in a predominately white
community, my interest in going to this play suddenly grew. The only knowledge I have about
the projects is through media and knowing the general stereotypes of an inner city area. When I
attended the play, I had a fantastic learning experience, and noticed several connections to the
texts that we study in the course. To begin with, the scenery of the play wasn t traditional by any
means. Rather than this being a common stage with a large crowd, this was a black box theatre
play. Basically, the stage was in the middle of the room and the audience surrounded the
performers. The room was about the size of an average high school classroom, which made the
play more personal. In fact, the actors would interact with the crowd at times throughout the play.
Next, when I first entered the room, I sensed a smooth vibe from the way the room looked. It was
very dim and the director played songs by black artist from our generation to serenade the audience
with black culture. At this moment, I began to feel very

Valuing Wal-Mart
Assessment of Wal Mart valuation using different methods To test the assumption of a discount
rate of 7% as given in the outline of the case, we calculated the required rate of return for the Wal

rate of return to be 7.01% and in line with the information given in the case outline. Perpetual
dividend growth model: The standard method of calculating a stock price using the perpetual
dividend growth model is done by assessing a company s dividend one year into the future
adding the future expected growth rate. The formula is written as: P0 = D1/(Ke в€’ g), where Ke

By calculating the dividend per share until D=3 and employing: P0 = D1/(1+Ke)^1 + D2
/(1+Ke)^2 + D3/(1+Ke)^3+TV/(1+Ke)^3, where TV is the terminal value we calculate the present
day intrinsic value of the Wal Mart stock to be $62.15 hence the market value is consider low
compared to our forecasted value. This method replicates the basic foundation of the Discount Cash
flow Model (DCF), which in our opinion is the preferred method in valuation studies. Three Stage
Approach: There are no questions about this approach in the outline of the assignment, so the
following comments should be considered back of an envelope considerations. In general the three
stage approach allows us to add complexity to the standard dividend discount models by enabling
changing growth scenarios throughout the forecasting period: an initial period of higher than
normal growth, a transition/consolidation period of declining growth and final a period of stable
growth. The main assumptions are that the company on which we conduct the calculation study
currently is in extraordinary strong growth phase. The time period with the extraordinary strong
growth must be strictly defined and eventually be replaced with the declining growth assumption.
Lastly, Capital Expenditures and Depreciation are expected to grow at the same rate as revenues. .

British Colonies And The British Empire
Through the eyes of Great Britain, the colonies served as an area of nearly limitless raw materials
that were unavailable in Europe and as an area that could serve as a market for English goods and
textiles. Although the American colonies conducted a large amount of their trade with the British
Empire, they soon began to realize that they could obtain the goods that they desired for less if they
decided to trade with other countries. The colonies were known to import large quantities of goods
from Europe because most of the commodities that were essential to their current lifestyles were
only produced overseas in Europe. This heavy reliance on certain goods eventually allowed the
British to institute a monopoly on certain textiles, foods, and other commodities. However, tensions
began to rise following the realization by the British that the colonies had begun to conduct trade
with countries other than themselves. This discovery inadvertently prompted Parliament to
introduce the Navigation Acts which imposed strict regulations and laws upon trade and further
outlined how the colonies were to conduct trade between themselves and the British Empire.
However, unbeknownst to the British, these laws served as the catalyst that allowed the practice of
smuggling and piracy to take hold within the colonies and these activities soon became a very
lucrative business for all of those involved. Furthermore, the establishment of these acts
unknowingly led to a recession that

The Security Environment That Is Shaping The Joint Force...
The security environment that is shaping the Joint Force 2025 (JF25) is incredibly complex and
rapidly evolving. Challengers to security and stability include two aggressive competing powers

Despite the complexity of this environment and fiscal austerity, the JF25 must protect our Nation
and win our wars. It must deter and defeat state adversaries, disrupt and defeat terrorist
organizations, and strengthen the global network of allies and partners. The prioritized capabilities
required for Joint Force 2025 are linked to the imperatives of securing the homeland and
maintaining strategic agility. This essay discusses general attributes of the JF, specific capability
requirements by service, and the risk associated with focusing the rebalance on these two
imperatives.
Strategic guidance on the general attributes of JF25 is provided in the Quadrennial Defense

rapidly project military power to deter challengers and win decisively. Rapid force projection is

Ethics And The Natural Environment
Ethics are according to BusinessDictionary.com, The basic concepts and fundamental principles of
decent human conduct. It includes study of universal values such as the essential equality of all
men and women, human or natural rights, obedience to the law of land, concern for health and
safety and, increasingly, also for the natural environment (Ethics, 2015). For entrepreneurs, ethics
are a large portion of the decisions that are dealt with every day. People do not go out into the
world saying I am going to be a lying, conniving, unethical person. People may have the best of
intentions but when they are faced with the temptation of money, it can be difficult stay true to
those intentions. This is especially when unethical decisions do... Show more content on

For instance, if an entrepreneur needs further funding to keep their business from failing but their
lack of funding makes investors uncomfortable, they can be in a dilemma. It is easier if they lie
and tell investors the funds they need are for a new project. The chances are they would get the
funding faster than if they were honest and explained that they needed it to stay afloat. Since the
entrepreneur is so attached to their company, they often would do anything in order to keep it
alive. Time is another cause for temptation. The ethical choice is not just usually the more
difficult one, it is frequently the one that takes more time. Sometimes it is because they need to
meet that deadline, or get a shortcut to a goal. Patience is not as common in this world as it
should be. It is grueling for some entrepreneurs to wait while their company grows and develops.
Ethical decisions are not always enormous business altering decisions. If fact, the most common
unethical practices are practically unnoticeable. According to Entrepreneur.com, there are five
mistakes that entrepreneurs make regularly. They include, 1. You snuck a few personal expenses
through the business. 2. You hired that person because you just liked him more. 3. You shipped a
product to a bigger customer ahead of a smaller one. 4. You charged a customer a ton of money
for only 15 minutes of work. 5. You poached an employee from a friendly competitor (Marks,
2015). These practices may not immediately

Introduction
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a compound present in every body tissue. It has a wide variety of
chemical structures. The structure diversity depends on the part of the body ALP occurs
(University of California San Francisco Medical Center, 2009). ALP contains three metal ions, two
Zinc and one Magnesium, on each active site. This makes it a very active enzyme (Department of

It may be cheaper to purchase an older truck than a newer car, but in fuel and maintenance, the
older truck will cost more. The pros and cons of this decision are all personal. The lower upfront
costs may be more beneficial to one person than to another. A personal decision that I am
struggling with right now is with my credit rating. I have two credit cards that have a high
balance. These are both in my ex wife s possession. They are both delinquent on payments. I have
to decide whether to just take out a high interest loan to pay these off and renew my credit rating,
or to let her financial decisions affect my credit rating. The third principle of individual decision
making is rational people think at the margin (Mankiw, 2007). This states that the benefit must
exceed the cost. A personal experience with this would be that I have a truck that gets very low
fuel mileage. I needed a car with better fuel economy, but have bad credit. I weighed the pros
and cons of buying a car with a high interest loan, and felt that the benefit was worth the cost.
While some would say there is nothing good to come from this, those who make these choices
must feel there is. Mankiw (2007) points to the difference in value between water and diamonds.
A marginal increase in a person s water supply will rarely come at a significant cost to the person.
However, a marginal increase in diamonds is extremely valuable. The forth principle of individual
decision making is

As a young Hoosier, you ve probably noticed a lot of colorful butterflies flying around in your
home state of Indiana. Have you ever wondered what the names of these butterflies are and in
what areas you can find them? Well, look no further, because this book will give you those pieces
of information, along with a bunch of other cool facts! After reading this book, you will be able to
identify ten of the most common butterflies in Indiana: the Buckeye, the American Snout, the
Cabbage White, the Eastern Tailed Blue, the Monarch, the Silver spotted Skipper, the Question
Mark, the Pearl Crescent, the Black Swallowtail, and the Red spotted Purple. Soon, you ll be on
your way to becoming a butterfly expert!
Basic Butterfly Information Before you learn about Indiana butterflies, you ll need to know some
butterfly basics. First, butterflies are insects with wings made of colorful scales, a curled up
mouthpart called a proboscis, and clubbed antennae, with thick ends like baseball bats. Butterflies
are part of an insect order, a category level entomologists (people who study insects) use to organize
insects into groups, called Lepidoptera, along with moths. The name Lepidoptera comes from the
Greek words for scale (lepido) and wing (pteron). The scales on a butterfly s wings are actually
modified hairs arranged in rows. The scales deflect light energy, transmitting numerous bright colors

The Democratic Party Split Of 1860 Over The Slavery Issue
The Democratic Party split in 1860 over the slavery issue. The Democrats from the Northern states
were against slavery or at least the expansion of slavery in the new territories while the Democrats
from the Southern states wanted to preserve slavery in their states and were for extending it in the
new territories. On April 23, 1860, the Democrats met in Charleston, South Carolina with the goals
of finalizing their platform and nominating a presidential candidate. In the North the Democratic
candidate was the moderate Stephen Douglas. Voters in the South chose John Breckenridge, a
defender of Southern rights . The Southern Democrats hated Douglas, although he was not
completely opposed to slavery in the West, he wanted to limit the institution s use in the territories,
by initiating popular sovereignty. A key play by Lincoln in the Lincoln Douglas Debates in 1858
helped the Southerners realize this. Because the Democrats were split between different candidates
and the Republican Party was united behind Abraham Lincoln, they won more electoral votes.
Therefore, Lincoln became president.
Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president. It was his election that convinced South
Carolina to secede from the Union. Though not an abolitionist, Lincoln was an opponent of slavery
and determined to use all means at his disposal to stop its spread. Because the Republican Party
was an anti slavery party, South Carolina, along with several other states, saw the election of

The Impact Of Movie Release On Tourism Demand Over Countries
THE IMPACT OF MOVIE RELEASE ON TOURISM DEMAND OVER COUNTRIES:
EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF THAILAND TOURISM INDUSTRY
Saisang Apichatvorapong (Management)
Directed by Yeujun Yoon
ABSTRACT
The main purpose of this thesis is to find out more information about the impacts of movie release
that has on the tourism demand in Thailand. Since it has been proved that movies can influence
tourists to visit a location shown in the movies (Riley Van Doren, 1992), this paper will estimate the
number of tourist arrivals from movies that has the filming locations in Thailand and released
overseas based on the main economic factors such as gross domestic product (GDP), distance, and
relative price, which are often used in the tourism demand equation. Seeing that the Thai tourism
industry performs an important role in the national economy, accurate estimates of inbound tourism
from movie induced tourism can deliver useful information for both the government and private
sectors working in these areas.
Secondary data were collected for this study, where we based on 42 countries from the year
between 1997 to 2014. The study employs an econometric model of tourism demand and estimated
using the method of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS).
The result shows that 2 out of the 4 hypotheses were supported. As expected, it indicates that movie
release and GDP are positively related to tourist arrivals, while distance and relative prices are
negatively related to tourist arrivals. Hence, the higher the number

Essay Steroid Legalization Rebuttal
Rebuttal Article Why it s time to legalize steroids in professional sports written by Chris Smith
of Forbes Magazine argues that to level the playing field of professional sports it would be
beneficial to legalize the use of performance enhancing drugs. Mr. Smith s ideals that professional
sports would be a fairer, more entertaining version of itself if performance enhancing drugs were
legal, is an incredibly irresponsible and impudent declaration. Mr. Smith states The primary reason
why performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) are outlawed in professional sportsis that they give users
an unfair advantage over the rest of the field and that legalizing PEDs would make life much easier

By suggesting that it is alright for a twenty five year old professional baseball player to use
anabolic steroids, it is also being suggested that a fifteen high school baseball be afforded the same
right of a superior drug induced athletic performance. How fast do we need to see a person run or
bike, how far do we need to see a baseball hit or how hard do we need to see a football player
tackled. The human body is an incredible machine in itself, why do we need to push that machine to
limits that are not natural. Performance enhancing drugs allow for several advantages for athletes
they assist in the rapid development of muscle mass and strength, they enhance focus and timing
and most importantly to a professional athlete some performance enhancing drugs allow for
quicker recovery time from injuries. Athletes are vulnerable; one injury could end the career that
they have worked their entire lives for, and so the ability to recover at a much faster rate than a non
doping athlete is an advantage unto itself.
Mr. Smith states that athletes undertake serious health risks by simply walking onto the field or
straddling a bike which is true and athletes know the

  • 2. Chile, Indonesia, And Turkey Mint countries refer to Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey, which are economies that are gaining considerable investment interest given their potential for substantial economic growth. The features which these countries share are a fairly large population, which is considered to be young and growing and in addition a prime geographic location to capitalise upon nearby global markets. These features are distinctive against the developed markets and certain BRIC economies which are considered to have an ageing population which is drawing away from their growth potential. According to GDP figures, based on PPP valuation, the growth rates for the MINT economies across 2013 and 2014 have averaged at 5.70%. This is significant given that over the same time horizon the BRIC economies, considered the pinnacle of emerging market growth, experienced a rate of 3.39%. This was relatively lower in comparison eluding towards a shift in the investment potential from BRIC towards Mint Economies. In addition it is worth considering that emerging economies having been attracting increasingly more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) having accounted for 52% of global FDI inflows according to recent data. Looking closer at the FDI spread based on regional allocation it is worth noting that Nigeria received the greatest proportion of FDI in Africa, Indonesia in South Eastern Asia, Mexico in Central America and Turkey in West Asia. This demonstrates the investment potential within the MINT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Australian Government Essay When you think of the land down under you don t really think of the kind of government they have. I chose to write about the Australian government because I really don t hear much about Australia. It currently has a pretty interesting story to tell when it comes to their government. I became a bit interested in Australian politics when I saw a political animated cartoon on the internet that depicted Kevin Rudd, the last Prime Minister, on a news television show and it was quite humorous. I am going to give a quick history lesson on Australiathen go into how the government formed and came to be. Then I will talk about the Australian constitution, the Australian arms of government, their federal system, political parties and Australia s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Penal colonies are places when some send their inmates to be exiled. It was said that about 160,000 people were brought into Australia. Many Europeans decided to immigrate to Australia and because of this and after a while the economy and colonies of Australia, under the British rule, started to grow (Austrailian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade). Now I shall talk about how the Australian Constitution. It s common knowledge to know that a constitution is pretty much the law of the land and a foundation of the laws that rule there. Constitutions are very important for countries to have. Helen Irving explains in The Oxford Companion of Australian Politics that, Its Preamble records the agreement of the six Australian colonies to federate in 1901 and to remain together as one indissoluble federal Commonwealth . The Australian Constitution was written as a bill when the colonies met in 1890. The constitution has a full draft by the end of 1891 but colonial parliaments failed to pass it (Irving). It took about 10 years in 1901 that the constitution was finally ratified. They were finally an independent nation and no longer under the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tropical Deforestation and Its Effect on Global Climate... Tropical Deforestation and Its Effect on Global Climate Abstract Rainforests are the predominant natural vegetation throughout the wet tropics. The defining characteristics of a tropical rainforest are temperature and rainfall. Wherever temperature is high enough and rainfall heavy and regular enough, there is rainforest (Bagheera, 1996). Tropical rainforests of all kinds once covered approximately 14 percent of the Earth s surface, more than eight million square miles (Conservation International, 1998); forming an equatorial green belt around the Earth rich in diverse plant and animal species. Humans have already destroyed half of this forest area, with most damage occurring in the last 200 years (Bagheera, 1996). In 1987 alone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to destructive practices that profit a few but destroy the forest for all, intact tropical rainforests provide long term, widely distributed benefits. These benefits include increased biodiversity, protection of wildlife, food, fuel, medicines, building materials, and global climate stabilization (Bagheera, 1996,p.2). Due to the magnitude of tropical deforestation that has occurred, its potential affect on loss of biodiversity and alteration of world climate, this is arguably the most important global conservation issue today (Kricher, 1997). Discussion Global warming and tropical deforestation have a symbiotic relationship, each being a causal factor for the breakdown of the other. For each hectare of forest that is cleared and burned, about 220 tons of carbons are released into the atmosphere (Holloway, 1993). Carbon is released primarily in the form of CO2, carbon dioxide, with the burning of fallen vegetation from cleared forest. In addition, the cleared forest is no longer there to act as a sink for carbon dioxide to take it up in the process of photosynthesis (Kricher, 1997). The build up of carbon dioxide causes sunlight to be trapped in the atmosphere and through the greenhouse effect the Earth s temperature rises (Myers, 1979). Over the past century the global average temperature has already increased by about half a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ivanovich Shishkin Analysis I have chosen Realism to write about. Realism art is beautiful in its own way. The artist I picked is named Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin. His artwork is outstandingly beautiful. He really grasps the real life images and makes it into great artwork. I have not ever really paid attention to art, but his paintings definitely stand out. The realismmovement in French are flourished from around 1840 until the late nineteenth century. It sought to convey a truthful and objective vision of contemporary life. Realism came about after the Revolution of 1848 which overturned the monarchy of Louis Philippe and developed during the second empire under Napoleon III. Society fought for democratic reform. While society fought for democratic reform the artists fought in their own way. The Realists democratized art by depicting modern subjects drawn from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes he sat out in the horrible dry heat to get his painting and sometime he was out in the freezing cold. He is also interesting because he actually went to different places and found someplace he liked and sat there and started. It was just like someone going on a hike or something and stopping to take a photo. I can really tell that he loves the wilderness because of how he captures it into his art. He really knew how to mix the colors together to get the skies and waters to look perfect. You can tell he took a lot of time and put a lot of heart into all of his works. The only thing that I could not get myself to like was his winter paintings. I really did not look at any other winter paintings besides his, but the white just made everything washed out. They had nothing that really stood out to me. They looked very amateur. Maybe that is why he really did not paint them often. Most of all his paintings he incorporated trees somehow. Either they were the main focus or they were all over. He excelled in painting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Media s Growing Sexualization Of Women If you turn on the television or flip through a fashion magazine, it is very likely you will presented with many displays of hypersexualization of girls and women in advertising images and in media. There are many components to sexualization. It occurs, according to the American Psychological Association, when a person s value comes only from his or her sexual appeal or behavior, to the exclusion of other characteristics. This person is held to a standard that equates physical attractivenesswith being sexy. Sexualizationhappens when a person is sexually objectified that is, made into a thing for others sexual use, rather than being seen as a person with their own independent actions and abilities to make decisions. Oftentimes, sexuality is inappropriately imposed upon a person without their knowing it or consent. Sometimes, researchers use the word hypersexualization to describe roughly the same idea. In the article, Media s Growing Sexualization of Women , hypersexualization is defined as, The act of making something extremely sexual and erotic. The hypersexualization of females is fairly prevalent across different cultures. The media seems to be bombarded by it; magazines are plastered with risque images of barely clothed womanand even young girls. In 2011, a French issue of Vogue featured females as young as ten years old as models, Stretched and slinked on an array of animal furs. Their clothing was low cut and revealing. This prompted the French ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Ronald Reagan s Foreign Policy Ronald Reagan was an actor and cowboy that must of the world didn t take serious at first! But once he took the oath of office; he would get the world s attention. He enters into office with the United States in an economic and military mess. He would fix the economic mess by cutting taxes and jump starting the economy. The military would be fixed by his Doctrine. The Reagan Doctrine was an aggressive foreign policy from 1981 87 in his first term as President he designed a plan to roll back Communism at its weakest points, and weaken the U.S.S.R by targeting the overthrow of its marginal allies in the non industrialized World. Many pundits argue that it was a smashing success and dramatically undermined the power of the U.S.S.R, forcing it to retreat, and collapse by 1989. Reagan s foreign policy could be stated by his view of the U.S.S.R as the Evil Empire that is an illegitimate state. He rejected the dГ©tente policy that Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter had pursued until 1979, when the U.S.S.R invaded Afghanistan proved its failure. Reagan long had opposed the containment strategy. Reagan instead proposed Rollback, a strategy to steadily reduce and eventually eliminate the Communist threat. In 1981 the newly elected Reagan rejected Henry Kissinger and other advocates of dГ©tente and brought in hard liners, many of them previously associated with Democratic Senator Henry Jackson. The Reagan Doctrine in fact operated as early as 1981, without a name, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ambiguism In The Demon Lover By Elizabeth Bowen The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen s is set in London during World War II. Bowen adopts a common folklore theme of the demon lover in her short story in which a woman is left traumatized during the blitz in World War II. The story follows a married middle age woman who is haunted by the ghost of her love from her youth. This ghost was known to be killed in the First World War nearly twenty five years earlier. Bowens focuses on the atmosphere to create a disturbing ambiguity leading to many interpretations to what seems like a simple ghost story; the reader wonders if the ghost is a supernatural body or a disquieting delusion that Mrs. Drover observes. The main message conveyed in this story is that no bad deed goes unpunished. Mrs. Drover;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bowen then uses a flashback to link this letter to the dead fiance. Mrs. Drover thinks back to her former nameless fiance who went off to fight during World War I and was presumably killed, this vision reinforces the sense of him potentially being the demon lover of the title. She is keenly aware of her surroundings after reading this letter: the atmosphere such as the striking of the clock, the weather, and particularly, a sense of strangeness. The letter lying on the table compels her to imagine the various possibilities for how the letter got there in the first place. She believes the letter written by K is some sort of threat from a ghost. This letter greatly unnerves her and she rushes upstairs and begins to pack her things. She then rushes into a taxi only to see the face of the driver as her demon lover, she begins to scream and pound the glass between them. Perhaps the driver of the taxi Akca, 2 was the soldier, incarnated as a demon has come to retrieve the damned Mrs. Drover. In addition, it can be thought of as the ghost of World War I coming back to haunt World War II. The setting is that of the empty streets of London, the inhabitants had all fled their homes to escape the destruction that came with war. There is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Story Of Oj Simpson Essay Consequently, there is a powerful and depressing theme in The Story of O.J. which attacks the idea of black content being under white control head on. To further express this, Jay Z uses a line from the O.J. Simpson TV miniseries called The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, in which the famous arrested football stated from behind bars: I m not black. I m O.J. with Jay Z, skeptical replied okay . He might have responded that way because Simpson, like many other prominent African American figures who have made it, have wrongly thought that his or her owns success would exempt them from the reality of racially discrimination in America. Jay Z compares this narrow minded mentality to drug dealers risking their lives over corners that they don t even own, and athletes who turn their back on their community when they make it big and to rappers who sign away control of their careers to big names who like Warner Bros who once, engaged in the production of cartoons with racial stereotypes... This is evident in the case of Nat King Cole, where during the 1960s he and a few other African Americans were able to play the leading role shows that were actually based on the lives of African Americans but they still forced to conform to a setting that did not allow them to discuss issues concerning cultural repetitions, social themes, and professional conventions that they dared not transgress (156). Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation is a well written narrative about America s founding fathers and the years that followed the Revolutionary War. Ellis s book is appealing to anyone who is interested in learning about the roots of our founding brothers. The book is also well written in the aspect of not being long and drawn out into one big story. Instead, Ellis breaks the book down in to six stories that talk about different situations with American historical figures. Ellis uses more than one type of historical writing throughout the six stories. He uses social, economic and political types of history throughout this book. Overall Joseph J. Ellis showed the significant role the leaders played in the founding of our country. Each character that Ellis brings forth in a story had a great impact not only on America then, but also where America s nation is concerned today. Ellis also shows the importance of knowing about the roots of the founding fathers of our nation. • 11. Stray Cats Collaboration Today I met with a volunteer from the Cat Network, an organization that spays and neuters stray cats in South Florida. The volunteer, Ibis, is currently volunteering at the adoption center, a place were people looking to adopt a pet can find cats in need of homes. She takes care of the cats by cleaning their cages and making sure they are well fed. She also lets them out of their cage sometimes to play and get exercise. When asked why the Cat Network is needed in our community she says that South Florida is currently dealing with a massive overpopulation of stray cats. This overpopulation has continued to expand in size and will only get worse through the years. Stray cats live hard and dangerous lives in the streets and their lives can get even worse if they get pregnant. Cats can get pregnant the moment they turn 4 months, meaning they can give birth when they re only 6 months old. And cats don t just have one or two babies; they have litters. Typically, a cat has around 4 to 6 babies in a litter. Finding stray cats and spaying, vaccinating, and then releasing them saves them from living even worse lives. • 13. Octavia Butler s The Parable Of The Talents In The... Parable of the Talents Beginning in the 12th century, in the middle of the Medieval Ages, just centuries after the fall of the greatest empire of classical history, the Roman Empire. There was an invasion of religious frustration that swept across much of Europe, they were the inquisitions. These various inquisitions caused a quake of fear for anyone that was suspected of betraying the Catholic Churchor the Vatican. Though it was not just religious heresy and other religious groups, it was also Pagans, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Atheists, Freethinkers, Philosophers, Humanists, and many others. Burning them at the stake, accusing them of heresy, and sending them to trial, and inevitably their death (Bad News About Christianity). These various inquisitions, and the protestant reformationwas known as one of humanities darkest events in history. People lived in fear of accusation, death, and the social norms of this era; the world was living in a shadow of fear, thousands dying by knife, ax, and fire. Over the course of 500 years, religious conflict spread across Europe, though it was a widespread issue, it was tolerated by many. There are many similarities between Octavia Butler s book, The Parable of the Talents and the various inquisitions of human history, and through the persecutions and conversations of religious groups, the religious chaos at this time, and how Lauren s character is similar to a religious icon during these times there is evidence that Butler s novel ... • 14. Individuality In Anthem Ego a person s sense of self esteem or self importance. Also known as the forbidden word of the totalitarian society created by Ayn Rand in Anthem. In Rand s 1938 novel, her main character, Equality 7 2125 unknowingly followed the path of individuality, which was against the wishes of society. Proving that knowledge is a product of the observations and mental integrations of individuals, he rebelled against the ideals his society chained him with. He found his ego and sense of self, amidst a world who deemed it a sin to do so. Through the point of view/narration, themes, characterization and conflicts, Rand wanted to convey the dangers of a failed government, and the need for individuality. When beginning the novel, Rand uses a first person point of view, yet instead of the common plural forms of, I and My , she has the narrator use, We and Our. Equality was taught that individuality didn t exist, and instead that all men must be alike, therefore there is only, we. Upon reading this, it seems as if Rand was writing about multiple people, yet this is how the society must address themselves, because no man gets singled out. The plural forms remain the same, until the beginning of chapter eleven, where Equality finally discovers the form of, I . This type of narration allowed the ideals of society to be made apparent, and progressed the plot in Equality s search of individuality. Individualism and collectivism are two core themes that are present in the novel. It s as if these two themes work against each other, in order to obtain individuality, you must get rid of collectivism, and vice versa. As Equality lives through his days, he discovers his unspoken lover, the Golden One , and begins to explore egotistical thoughts, where his curiosity grew even greater. In chapter nine, Equality began finally discovering individuality, where he was torn on finding the certain word that society had hidden. And we felt torn, torn for some word we could not find. • 15. Hindu Nationalism And Its Impact On India of India, due to which it remained marginalized as an electoral post (not social post) for a while. The primary support of Hindu Nationalism comes from the Northern and Western parts of India. Being a center right movement, it is seen to have major differences with Congress. They are driven by ideology and faith, and are traditionally conservatives. It is seen that they are able to mobilize a large section of the population who trust leaders and parties that use religion as a mobilizing factor. Indiabeing a Hindu majority country, has a large Hindu religious voter base and the BJP over the year have been able to mobilize on this portion of the population who are driven by the idea of Hindu nationalism. It is important to remember that even though the Hindu nationalism movement was marginalized electorally during the early years after the Independence, it remained strong and influential throughout society and over there years gradually gained support and electoral posts in Indian politics. The BJP is a party of the strong, meaning that it is an organization run by the educated upper class and is backed by political and economic elites. It follows a dual targeting voter strategy, in which the Party politics takes care of the interests of the upper class (consisting of business and political elites), and then there are social organizations in place that do charity and other social work that takes care of the poor. The BJP as a party has an organization centric party structure. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In December of 2007, the American economy experienced an event of this nature the Great Recession. This global financial crisis stemmed from what seemed like an isolated disturbance within the subprime US housing market but transformed into a catastrophic event. The irrational exuberance surrounding this bubble created an environment that was ripe for the cowboy financing that got... the country into so much trouble. With encouragement from politically influential persons to increase home ownership rates and the optimism that followed the yields on government bonds, lenders and investors sought assets with even higher yields. The problem, however, was the lack of credit worthy borrowers. To remedy this, lenders sought out those who would not ordinarily meet typical credit standards within the sub prime (and non standard loans) segment of the housing market. These subprime borrowers were considered profitable and were viewed as the solution to the lenders search for higher yields. This, of course, was a much riskier tactic and led banks to hide their questionable transactions. The actions on behalf of the banks, along with their reckless behavior, resulted in the creation of the subprime US housing market and ultimately led to the deterioration of the economy. II. Ian McEwan s 2001 metafiction text Atonement explores the danger of an imagination which cannot differentiate between reality and fantasy. Atonement follows the detrimental effects of Briony Tallis lie which convicted the innocent Robbie Turner and ultimately destroyed her relationship with Cecilia Tallis, her older sister. Through innocence, negative consequences, and the significance of the title, Ian McEwan is able to thoroughly explore the danger of an imagination that can t quite see the boundaries of what is real and what is unreal. Ian McEwan uses the letters as a narrative device to catalyse Briony Tallis dangerous imagination in correlation to the events which follow. There are many letters embedded into the text which are used to reveal the innermost thoughts of the central characters. McEwan uses parody of Austen s style when Briony reads in my dreams I kiss your c t. Ian McEwan employs this word to mislead the reader s belief in Robbie s character. McEwan employs parody of Northanger Abbey to attribute to the effectiveness of letters, and shock the reader. The use of c t would not be expected in an Austen novel which presents conservative beliefs in conventional language. Ian McEwan utilises allusion of Vladimir Nabokov s Lolita to depict the relationship between Paul Marshall and Lola Quincey. The reader is aware of this allusion through the naming of Lola Quincey, similar to the protagonist of Lolita. This allusion foreshadows the rape of Lola, Paul is not convicted when Briony claims that she saw him [Robbie], with her own two eyes. McEwan uses this allusion to portray how Briony s imagination convinces her that Paul Marshall is innocent while Robbie Turner is the criminal. Through allusion to Lolita, McEwan suggests to the reader that the novel will be dark and disturbing, similar to Nabokov s novel and the gothic literature pastiche which McEwan utilises. In this essay I will be analysing a television purchase I made from Argos using the consumer decision making process and concluding with a justification in the context on consumer decision making process. The consumer decision making process is a compound process, which involves six stages problem recognition, Information search, pre purchase evaluation of alternatives, purchase, consumption, post consumption evaluation and divestment. First Stage: Problem Recognition Problem recognition is the first stage in the consumer making process; it arises when there is an occurrence of a want or need. These needs could be simple, complicated or ambiguous depending on a consumer s needs, attitudes, expectations, and personality. Maslow s hierarchy of needs suggests that the basic needs such as food, sleep and shelter need to be satisfied before moving up the pyramid, however, in my case I prioritized my safety and esteem needs. Having moved into a new apartment of my own, I presumed the TV I had bought a year ago was out dated, small, and not sophisticated enough and later came to a conclusion to purchase another TV which suited my taste and preferences. Three Stage Approach: There are no questions about this approach in the outline of the assignment, so the following comments should be considered back of an envelope considerations. In general the three stage approach allows us to add complexity to the standard dividend discount models by enabling changing growth scenarios throughout the forecasting period: an initial period of higher than normal growth, a transition/consolidation period of declining growth and final a period of stable growth. The main assumptions are that the company on which we conduct the calculation study currently is in extraordinary strong growth phase. The time period with the extraordinary strong growth must be strictly defined and eventually be replaced with the declining growth assumption. Lastly, Capital Expenditures and Depreciation are expected to grow at the same rate as revenues. . Analyzing exhibit 4 we see a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. British Colonies And The British Empire Through the eyes of Great Britain, the colonies served as an area of nearly limitless raw materials that were unavailable in Europe and as an area that could serve as a market for English goods and textiles. Although the American colonies conducted a large amount of their trade with the British Empire, they soon began to realize that they could obtain the goods that they desired for less if they decided to trade with other countries. The colonies were known to import large quantities of goods from Europe because most of the commodities that were essential to their current lifestyles were only produced overseas in Europe. This heavy reliance on certain goods eventually allowed the British to institute a monopoly on certain textiles, foods, and other commodities. However, tensions began to rise following the realization by the British that the colonies had begun to conduct trade with countries other than themselves. This discovery inadvertently prompted Parliament to introduce the Navigation Acts which imposed strict regulations and laws upon trade and further outlined how the colonies were to conduct trade between themselves and the British Empire. However, unbeknownst to the British, these laws served as the catalyst that allowed the practice of smuggling and piracy to take hold within the colonies and these activities soon became a very lucrative business for all of those involved. Furthermore, the establishment of these acts unknowingly led to a recession that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. The Security Environment That Is Shaping The Joint Force... The security environment that is shaping the Joint Force 2025 (JF25) is incredibly complex and rapidly evolving. Challengers to security and stability include two aggressive competing powers (China and Russia), two nuclear capable regional hegemons (North Korea and Iran), and a persistent threat of terrorism to the homeland. The global commons are contested and access to the space and cyber domains are no longer guaranteed. Fiscal constraints limit the available means for the Joint Force (JF) to meet these challenges and therefore increases risk to accomplishing the national militaryobjectives. Despite the complexity of this environment and fiscal austerity, the JF25 must protect our Nation and win our wars. It must deter and defeat state adversaries, disrupt and defeat terrorist organizations, and strengthen the global network of allies and partners. The prioritized capabilities required for Joint Force 2025 are linked to the imperatives of securing the homeland and maintaining strategic agility. This essay discusses general attributes of the JF, specific capability requirements by service, and the risk associated with focusing the rebalance on these two imperatives. Strategic guidance on the general attributes of JF25 is provided in the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and National Military Strategy (NMS). An important attribute is the ability to rapidly project military power to deter challengers and win decisively. Rapid force projection is central ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, if an entrepreneur needs further funding to keep their business from failing but their lack of funding makes investors uncomfortable, they can be in a dilemma. It is easier if they lie and tell investors the funds they need are for a new project. The chances are they would get the funding faster than if they were honest and explained that they needed it to stay afloat. Since the entrepreneur is so attached to their company, they often would do anything in order to keep it alive. Time is another cause for temptation. The ethical choice is not just usually the more difficult one, it is frequently the one that takes more time. Sometimes it is because they need to meet that deadline, or get a shortcut to a goal. The pros and cons of this decision are all personal. The lower upfront costs may be more beneficial to one person than to another. A personal decision that I am struggling with right now is with my credit rating. I have two credit cards that have a high balance. These are both in my ex wife s possession. They are both delinquent on payments. I have to decide whether to just take out a high interest loan to pay these off and renew my credit rating, or to let her financial decisions affect my credit rating. The third principle of individual decision making is rational people think at the margin (Mankiw, 2007). This states that the benefit must exceed the cost. A personal experience with this would be that I have a truck that gets very low fuel mileage. I needed a car with better fuel economy, but have bad credit. I weighed the pros and cons of buying a car with a high interest loan, and felt that the benefit was worth the cost. While some would say there is nothing good to come from this, those who make these choices must feel there is. Mankiw (2007) points to the difference in value between water and diamonds. A marginal increase in a person s water supply will rarely come at a significant cost to the person. However, a marginal increase in diamonds is extremely valuable. The Democrats from the Northern states were against slavery or at least the expansion of slavery in the new territories while the Democrats from the Southern states wanted to preserve slavery in their states and were for extending it in the new territories. On April 23, 1860, the Democrats met in Charleston, South Carolina with the goals of finalizing their platform and nominating a presidential candidate. In the North the Democratic candidate was the moderate Stephen Douglas. Voters in the South chose John Breckenridge, a defender of Southern rights . The Southern Democrats hated Douglas, although he was not completely opposed to slavery in the West, he wanted to limit the institution s use in the territories, by initiating popular sovereignty. A key play by Lincoln in the Lincoln Douglas Debates in 1858 helped the Southerners realize this. Because the Democrats were split between different candidates and the Republican Party was united behind Abraham Lincoln, they won more electoral votes. Therefore, Lincoln became president. Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president. It was his election that convinced South Carolina to secede from the Union. Though not an abolitionist, Lincoln was an opponent of slavery and determined to use all means at his disposal to stop its spread. The Impact Of Movie Release On Tourism Demand Over Countries THE IMPACT OF MOVIE RELEASE ON TOURISM DEMAND OVER COUNTRIES: EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF THAILAND TOURISM INDUSTRY Saisang Apichatvorapong (Management) Directed by Yeujun Yoon ABSTRACT The main purpose of this thesis is to find out more information about the impacts of movie release that has on the tourism demand in Thailand. Since it has been proved that movies can influence tourists to visit a location shown in the movies (Riley Van Doren, 1992), this paper will estimate the number of tourist arrivals from movies that has the filming locations in Thailand and released overseas based on the main economic factors such as gross domestic product (GDP), distance, and relative price, which are often used in the tourism demand equation. Seeing that the Thai tourism industry performs an important role in the national economy, accurate estimates of inbound tourism from movie induced tourism can deliver useful information for both the government and private sectors working in these areas. Secondary data were collected for this study, where we based on 42 countries from the year between 1997 to 2014. The study employs an econometric model of tourism demand and estimated using the method of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS). The result shows that 2 out of the 4 hypotheses were supported. As expected, it indicates that movie release and GDP are positively related to tourist arrivals, while distance and relative prices are negatively related to tourist arrivals.
