1 WIKIS IN HIGHER EDUCATION: THE CONSTRUCTIVIST LEARNING PARADIGM
Wikis are a very versatile and easy-to-use tool that is finding increasing applications in teaching and learning. Wikis are largely used in education for both teaching and learning. Wikis can be used in the classroom to support many learning approaches. Learning approaches that could most be supported by wikis are collaborative learning and the constructivist learning paradigms. A wiki is a web page that can be viewed and modified by anybody with a web browser and access to the internet. This means that any visitor to the wiki can change its content if they desire. While the potential for mischief exists, wikis can be surprisingly robust, open-ended, collaborative group sites. This paper deals about the characteristics of wiki, wiki as a learning tool and uses of wiki in education. This paper also explains the concept of STOLEN principles for using wiki in higher education.

While MOOCs increase access to quality education, they lack face-to-face interaction and personal guidance. Governments must address issues of reliable Internet access and validate completion certificates to maximize the benefits of MOOCs.

This 3-part assignment redesign workshop will take you through the steps to create a non-disposable assignment from beginning to end.
Disposable Assignments: "are assignments that students complain about doing and faculty complain about grading. They’re assignments that add no value to the world – after a student spends three hours creating it, a teacher spends 30 minutes grading it, and then the student throws it away” (Wiley, 2013).
This series is about creating a non-disposable assignment. The three sessions will blend a combination of some pre-reading, discussion, and in session time to flesh out the details of a rich assignment that allows students to co-create knowledge, be creative and engage in a personalised learning experience.
We’ll focus on crafting projects which meet your existing or redesigned course learning outcomes, explore tools for students to demonstrate their learning, and identify strategies for conducting peer-review. In the end you’ll end up with plan for implementing your redesigned assignment in Spring 2018 or Fall 2018.
Throughout the three-part workshop we will also be collectively exposing our own learnings to others in the group through a live reflection and blogging site to support our work. We hope faculty can attend all three parts as they are planned with the intent you are coming for the whole series.

Open educational resources (oer) power point
Open educational resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that are freely available online for anyone to use, adapt and share. OER include full courses, textbooks, modules, videos and other materials. There are several advantages to using OER, such as reducing costs for students, increasing accessibility of educational resources worldwide, and allowing for customization and incorporation of updated content. However, some disadvantages include the effort required to evaluate and validate large volumes of OER materials, lack of funds to support ongoing updates and maintenance, and potential issues with attribution, copyright and access to technology for disadvantaged students.
Session 9 Using Web 2.0 In A Grade One Classroom
The presentation discussed a first grade teacher's use of various web 2.0 tools like blogs, wikis, and podcasts in her classroom to create individual student web pages and communicate with parents. The teacher found these tools highly motivating for students' learning. The tools used included Blogmeister, Flickr, Audacity, Bubbleshare, and Kid Pix.

Wikispaces
Wikispaces is a collaborative website that allows users to easily share files and ideas. It is free for educators to create private educational wikis. To create a wiki, users select a username, password, and email address on the Wikispaces website and choose a memorable wiki name. They can then begin editing wiki pages by clicking "New page" and adding text, files, pictures, or other media like GoAnimate embeddings. Basic editing tools are available through an icons toolbar.
Animoto
Animoto is a free and easy to use online tool that allows users to turn their photos, video clips and music into professional-looking videos. The summary creates an Animoto account in a few simple steps, then walks through the four step process to create a video which includes selecting photos/videos, choosing music, finalizing video settings, and sharing the completed video. Users can create videos up to 30 seconds for free or pay for additional features and length.

Open educational resources (oer) power point
Open educational resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that are freely available online for anyone to use, adapt and share. OER include full courses, textbooks, modules, videos and other materials. There are several advantages to using OER, such as reducing costs for students, increasing accessibility of educational resources worldwide, and allowing for customization and incorporation of updated content. However, some disadvantages include the effort required to evaluate and validate large volumes of OER materials, lack of funds to support ongoing updates and maintenance, and potential issues with attribution, copyright and access to technology for disadvantaged students.
Session 9 Using Web 2.0 In A Grade One Classroom
The presentation discussed a first grade teacher's use of various web 2.0 tools like blogs, wikis, and podcasts in her classroom to create individual student web pages and communicate with parents. The teacher found these tools highly motivating for students' learning. The tools used included Blogmeister, Flickr, Audacity, Bubbleshare, and Kid Pix.

The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity server
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
