2. Click ‘Microsoft Office’ folder to
reveal all programs of the
package.

6. If ‘Start’ Menu does not show the
Word 2007 icon, right click ‘Microsoft
Word 2007’ in ‘All Programs Menu’
Click ‘Pin to Start Menu’ in the popup
context menu.
MS Word 2007 icon will now
appear on Start Menu and will
always remain there.
Click MS Word 2007 icon in ‘Start’
menu to start Word.

7. 1. If MS Word 2007 icon is visible on the
Windows desktop, just double click it to start
it.
2. If you do not see the MS Word 2007 icon on
the desktop, click the Windows ‘Start’ button
and find the ‘Microsoft Word 2007’ in ‘All
Programs’ menu and right click it. The
context menu will appear.
3. Move the mouse pointer to ‘Send to’. A
secondary menu will open

8. 1. Select ‘Desktop (create shortcut)’ from this
menu. You will find that a Word 2007 icon
with an upward pointing arrow (which
signifies that it is a shortcut) has
appeared on the desktop.

16. Click File.
Click Exit.
The program (together with the running document) will then quit, but you
will be prompted to save the document if unsaved changes exist in it.
Choose Yes to save document,
Choose No to discard the changes while Word exits,
Cancel if you change your mind and want Word to continue running.

17. • The context menu is the shortcut menu that pops
up when you click the right mouse button on a
space or on a window element.
Activity
1. Right-click the title bar element of the Word
screen.
2. Click on the Close option.
3. OR
4. Right-click the Word button on the task bar.
5. From the context menu, click Close.
6. Choose an appropriate option when you are
prompted to save your document, if necessary.

18. • An even fast way of exiting Word is by using the control menu box.
• All Windows applications always come with a logo (icon), which is usually
displayed on the extreme left-hand side of the title bar.
• This is the System menu. The System menu of the Word program is the
blue "W" icon enclosed in a blue frame at the left-hand side of the title
bar of the Word interface.

19. For keyboard fans, who'd rather issue commands from the keyboard, here
are the combination of keyboard keys you can use to exit Word.
Press Alt and F4 keys simultaneously (Alt + F4).
OR
Press Alt, F and then X keys, one after the other (Alt + F + X).
OR
Press Alt, Spacebar and then click Close from the menu that
appears, or simply press X when the menu appears.
