The nature of languages and
linguistics
 In this chapter we can appreciate the importance of
concerning to the naturalness, power and function of
language where we can analyse and understand some
rules of grammar and a system of arbitrary vocal signs
but language is unique and innate and proper of each
culture, person and society.
The nature of human language
 Language is rule-governed, creative universal innate
and learned all at the same time and is distinctly
human.
 1.1 Fundamental beliefs about language.
 The most important beliefs about language is assume
that the language and communication are important,
necessary, inevitable and motivated to interact
between people.
 Language expresses through of result of the
philosophical and logical tradition , giving a value to a
true or false.
1.2 Linguistic signs
 They are defined as things that stand for or represent
something else, linguistic sings involve sequences of
sounds which represent concrete objects and events.
 There are 3 Types of signs:
 Iconic
 Indexical
 Symbolic.
1.3 the rule governed nature of
language
 It Is a System that is compound by several patterns of
the language and has grammatical competence which
part native speakers´ implicit knowledge.
The nature of grammar
 They are the rules of the language works like a
structure. Also they are communication competences.
