- 3. Spot the difference • Rebranding Re- imaging
- 4. Re-branding • Rebranding often focuses on creating a strong image to attract economic investment. E.g ‘New York, the city that never sleeps.’ • Successful rebranding has two elements: 1. Regeneration. Investment in the infrastructure of a place and this will hopefully cause the positive multiplier effect to kick in. 2. Re-imaging. The area being sold or advertised as part of a new package to change perception of that place. This makes the area seem more attractive to investors, visitors and locals.

Liverpool • Liverpool, an example of rebranding. • Liverpool has used culture to rebrand and in particular the 2008 European Capital of culture status to raise its profile. • Cultural Facilities – The development of art galleries, museums and cultural events have been central to the redevelopment of Liverpool.
