Kumalo Character Traits
In the novel Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton, the traits portrayed by the main characters
can be observed by their actions and their reactions to other characters as well as events in the plot
of the story. Though fictional, these characters can resemble people in our lives. Stephen Kumalo,
for example, exhibits many traits throughout that make him similar to my friend Emmett. He is a
friend of mine that goes to another school. Both are humble, though Stephen is more naïve. Also,
both have had outbursts of anger but immediately apologize for his actions and repent. Furthermore,
both are virtuous, though Stephen is more virtuous than Emmett is. My friend's character traits can
be compared to Stephen Kumalo through their character traits.
One character trait they share is determination. Stephen persistently tries to reunite his family, going
from town to town in search of his son and sister. Emmett is always doing things with his family or
for his family. Stephen however, is more virtuous than Emmett is since he is a pastor and ... Show

An example of this is on page 39 where Stephen reacts angrily to his wife's suggestion that their son
will never come back, and although she protests, saying that Kumalo is hurting himself, he
continues to deny her claim angrily. When he realizes that his words are wounding his wife, he
calms down and reconciles himself to the inevitable. Emmett however, is slow to anger but takes a
while to calm down after losing his temper. Both however, immediately apologize for their behavior
and repent afterwards. Another difference between the two is how they act when they are angry.
Stephen for example, acts cruelly on page 146 through 147 when Stephen is angered by her
promiscuity and asks her if she would accept him as a lover and is later ashamed of his behavior. In
comparison, Emmett may lash out or be frustrated when angry. Despite their temper, both are also

John Henry Character Traits
The story of John Henry is about a an African American who told the captain of the mines he could
dig a deeper hole using only a steel hammer and his muscles, quicker and more efficiently than a
steam drill. This story took place in West Virginia, where they made these holes to put explosives in.
After that they would blast the rock to make room for the railroads. John Henry's heart gave out
from stress, although he worked hard and earned his place in history easily.
Throughout this story, John Henry could be identified by as a static, the protagonist, and a flat
character. This is because throughout the entire story, his personality stays the same. Also, he has
one main personality trait. John Henry was a determined, strong,

Auggie Pullman Character Traits
Wonder is a book and a movie, it talks about this little boy named Auggie Pullman. After being
homeschooled all of his elementary years, he has a rough first year in middle school. The kids in 5th
grade are horrible to him and make him feel like he does not belong. Auggie has some strong traits
in him that makes middle school enjoyable in his own way. Auggie Pullman is a young boy raised in
North River Heights. Auggie has a rare medical facial deformity, and has had numerous surgeries.
He is homeschooled by his parents for all of his elementary years but is now approaching the middle
school ages. Auggie's parents decide to send him to Beecher Prep, a private school. He is going into

He knew going into it that it would not be easy and that people would probably stare at him, but he
wanted to try it out. He tried to make some friends who would not make fun of him and would
accept him for who he was, it was hard but he did it. Auggie minded his own business and did not
bother anyone else because he knew that nobody cared about him or wanted anything to do with
him. Teachers did not always see what the students were doing to him, or hear what they would say
to him he handled it all basically on his own, he heard what they said but would just shrug it off, and
he felt what they did to him but he would just walk away and be strong through it all. Auggie would
rarely tell his parents what was happening in school, and was independent through almost all of it.
Jack is a boy in Auggie's class who is his his friend sometimes and sometimes is not. One day they
are on a nature retreat and are being harassed by some 7th graders, they take it into their own hands
and fight them off and run. After they return to the school Auggie is accepted by more people,
including the bully Julian. After the kids realized he was a type of "normal" middle school was not
so bad for Auggie. He was strong through all of this and kept to himself, he could have reacted and
hit them or said mean things back but never did Auggie say a mean word

Robert Jordan Character Traits
Throughout For Whom the Bell Tolls, one of Robert Jordan's defining character traits is his inability
to remain in touch with his emotions while he is thinking about his work. After Jordan and Maria
have sex for the second time, they excitedly converse about how happy they are and how much they
love each other. After a while, however, Robert Jordan begins to zone out and eventually ignores her
all together as he starts worrying about the upcoming bridge job. In this moment, Jordan cannot
reconcile his love for Maria with his sense of duty towards his mission. He must compartmentalize
the two differing roles. This deeply fragments Jordan's psyche, as he cannot unify both his heart
(represented by his feelings towards Maria) with his mind (represented ... Show more content on

He still believes in it and still deeply opposes fascism, but the idealism which he once had has
disappeared. In its place, there is nothing but a void that his patriotism once filled. He views himself
and all guerillas as merely cogs in a great machine. He cares about doing his duty, serving the cause,
and nothing else –– not even whether he lives or dies. When Jordan briefly expresses concern for
Anselmo's safety in the bridge operation, he quickly reprimands himself, saying "And that is not the
way to think, he told himself, and there is not you, and there are no people that things must not
happen to. Neither you nor this old man is anything. You are instruments to do your duty" (43). Yet
by the end of the novel, Jordan grows beyond this state of listless existence, choosing to love Maria
and Anselmo and the rest of the guerillas. As he contemplates the possibility of failure for his plan,
Jordan remarks "He knew he himself was nothing, and he knew death was nothing. He knew that
truly, as truly as he knew anything. In the last few days he had learned that he himself, with another
person, could be everything" (393). Jordan lets himself worry over the fate of his new friends
because he has learned that love is what makes life worth living. By the end of the novel, Jordan
understands why people want to stay

Rachel Character Traits
To begin with, an individual who simply conforms to the roles that society bestows upon them will
have an urge to follow these predetermined ideals, thoughts and way of life. Simply put, the
individual desires to just 'get lost in the crowd.' The film illustrates Rachel as one who is full of
guilt, sexual suppression, and a general passive character. These character traits are repetitive and
keep emerging in Rachel. In the film, the following instance clearly demonstrates the average person
as illustrated by Rachel. Rachel tends to her mother devotedly, prepares sandwiches on her mother's
behalf for the company and retreats to her bedroom once she is done. She overhears the women in
her group showering praises on her effectiveness and how difficult

Analyse Character Traits
There are a few traits listed that I admire greatly among others, and would like to think that I hold
myself or am working on perfecting those traits within my being. Three main ones would be
Openness, Responsibility, and Empathy. People who are open minded tend to be the ones that are
responsible for our ever so evolving world, standards, morals, ethics, society, and way of life as it is.
This to me automatically makes them important and special, as the world and society would not be
so advanced as we are today without these type of people. I feel these individuals are not so quick to
speak, judge, and hold down others. If Christopher Columbus was not so exploratory due to his open
minded thinking, then perhaps we would live in a world that continued to think the earth was simply
flat. I personally feel that nothing is really so simple in this life, therefore, the same way of thinking,
acting, reacting, fitting, living, preserving, remedying and so forth....all of this could not ... Show

The world could not improve if there were no people in it to see that improvements need to be made.
I think the world would be a more cruel and dark place without these individuals. It is my belief that
these types of people have a lot to offer and much to teach others. When I come across people such
as this, it is like taking a breath of fresh air after being under water for so long; it is not so common
to meet someone like this...because they preserve honesty, not just towards others, but within
themselves. Many changes I have made in my life have stemmed from me taking responsibility for
my actions and then making a plan to do better or something different that can provide better
outcomes in the

Miss Brill Character Traits
The short story Miss Brill, depicts a changing Paris women that is built of confidence and slowly
slumps to a fearful figure. The life of Miss Brill is the same on a daily occasion, and she enjoys the
idea of looking at life as a theatre. The story strikes a strong interest in me because of the innocence
the old woman has that most individuals lose within there later childhood years. The woman has the
courage to wear an article of fur that has always been a part of her wardrobe to show her own style,
but does not wear the article of clothing to be belittled by other individuals. The main character and
the protagonist of the story is Miss Brill. This character is an old woman that is both an observer and
a charitable individual. Being a confident character in the beginning of the story allows Miss Brill to
wear her fur in full confidence and portray a radiant glow while wearing the particular item. The
older woman is able to inspect all the individuals at the park and enjoy the idea of eavesdropping.
The woman is challenged when her eavesdropping is noticed and becomes a ... Show more content

slice of comfort, the honey–cake from the bakery is a symbolic piece. The cake describes the
surprise Miss Brill would look for when indulging the treat in hopes of finding an almond within the
slice. It helps elude to the loneliness that Miss Brill is experiencing in her older age. When she
arrives home, she puts the fur away in the box and hears a reluctant cry. The cry is symbolic in
showing that the women's fears from others is now becoming a form of bullying. A form that is
strong in the sense of be harsh on others for the way they represent themselves. In her time fur was
seen as a high treasure, and now it was viewed as silly and ridiculous. The ridicules from the couple

King Arthur Character Traits
A Courageous Leader Character, it defines nearly every aspect of people's lives; it creates peoples
image, something wealth and fame cannot ultimately improve. Books and short stories provide
examples of people with different traits and then places them into scenarios to show the results of
these attributes. King Arthur and His Knights functions as one of the stories that provides many
different personalities; a major trait portrayed in this story is the king's courage. While conquering
numerus foes, this leadership quality of courage assists Arthur in many challenges throughout the
story but also places him into unnecessary danger. This type of story likewise provides polar
opposite characters for good and bad. While the good characters ... Show more content on

the potential down sides of blunt courage. Arthur recklessly takes the challenge from a person to
take turns striking the other with their sword. After the king strikes the head off of the stranger, the
headless body walks to his head now on the ground and places it back on his shoulders. This man,
trained in wizardry, decides to torture Arthur all the more by giving him a year to accept his
imminent death. In additions, he offers Arthur a difficult riddle, the answer of which can free him
from his death sentence. If Arthur declined the initial challenge he could have saved himself from
much worry, as well as one of his knights from marring an ugly old woman to obtain the answer to
the riddle. Concluding, Arthur's incredible courage helped others and himself, but it also placed

with the music and words you use in the music. Also you have to have talent to be able to perform. I
believe Blink–182 has these character traits. Have the talents and the smarts. They have written the
most amazing music and have changed music history. They have put real problems into song. They
put the problems in a teen life in music. This band started with three guys who went through a lot.

It was taken place in the mid– 1960's. Lorraine Jenson and John Conlan go to Franklin High School.
This background information effected the plot because now you can't skip school without getting a

central conflict of the novel is when Mr.Pignati has a heart attack and then the teens throw a party.
Which dissapoints Mr.Pignati when he sees all of the broken pigs. On top of that one of the party
guest ripped his deseased wife's dress, and bobo the monkey died. This is a person .vs. person
conflict. "There was no one else to blame anymore. No Bores or old ladiesor Nortons, or assassins
waiting at the bridge. And there was no place to hide– no place across the river for the boatman to

quote to me is John and Lorraine own up to there mistakes. They know what they did and they are
done pawning their shame and blame onto theres. They own up and take responcibility for
themselves. This is why I like this

As soon as she knew people of Riverdale already know about her father, her character tries even
more to befriend people to show them she's not like her father. Part of why Veronica carries herself
as this sweet, innocent character is because she is actually very hurt by what her father did to many
in the town of Riverdale, so she tries to mend those relationship to show that because her dad
cannot. She later becomes more open about it because people start to treat her as if she had
something to do with what her father did. One can see in this portion of her character, that she is

Brian Character Traits
I chose Brian (the brain) to do my character analysis on. In my opinion Brian was a stud the
principal would never have expected Brian to be the one carrying the pot for the criminal. Brian was
really funny when he was smoking the pot he had a funny voice. The funniest thing about Brian was
that he brought a flair gun to school and it went off in his locker. Brian wasn't really friends with the
other characters in the movie. In the beginning of the movie Brian was kind of invisible, the other
kids in detention hardly even noticed he was there. Brian treats everyone with respect he is very
kind. He talks to the janitor and doesn't pretend that he is better than him. He cares about everyone

Auggie Pullman Character Traits
Introduction I admire August/Auggie Pullman from the book Wonder, who has won the genetic

which is a very good quality in a person. I respect Auggie because of his great qualities. August
Pullman's Strength Auggie Pullman has some of the greatest strength I have ever seen/read. To quote
the book Wonder, "Ever since I was little, the doctors told my parents that someday I'd need hearing
aids." and "'Do I really have to wear this, Mom?' I said, trying not to cry. 'I hate them. They don't
make any difference!'" This helps show strength from Auggie because he does not want to wear
these hearing aids, worried that people would notice, and judge him, more than they already do, but
he wears them anyway. To add on, quoting Wonder, "I don't know if there's a word that means the
same as 'brightly' in terms of hearing, but I wish I knew I one, because my ears were hearing
brightly now." When the ear doctor turned on the hearing aids for Auggie, he no longer didn't want

once Maya saw that Auggie was okay of joking about his face, she laughed very hard. "'Actually,
technically speaking, her full name is Darth Daisy, but we never really called her that.'" and "'Darth

Scarlet Ibis Doodle Character Traits
A character's traits make them noticeable in a crowd and define them as a character and how they
are. In "The Scarlet Ibis" by James Hurst, Doodle has many character traits. The most important
ones, though, are hopelessness, determination, and empathy. These are the most important because
he shows these throughout the whole story in his actions.
Hopelessness is a good character trait for him because himself and everyone around him thought he
was hopeless. In the story the narrator even quotes: "Everybody thought he was gonna die"(416).
This showed that nobody really thought he was going to live long and didn't have much hope in him.

you think character traits are?

descriptive words or phrases that help us understand a character. Looking at what the character says,
looks like, feels, and does can help us identify their character traits. While I am reading The

I see an action that Rainbow Fish is doing, which is gliding past and ignoring the other fish, so I can

3. Student Modeling ("We Do") and Guided Practice ("You Do")
After I do the two examples, I am going to continue reading and ask the students if they could help
me find character traits. I am going to do three "We Do" examples. My first "We Do" example is on
page 8 of The Rainbow Fish. After a little fish asked Rainbow Fish for one of his scales, Rainbow
Fish says, "'You want me to give you one of my special scales? Who do you think you are? Get
away from me!'" After I read this, I am going to ask the students, "What just happened? Why do you
think Rainbow Fish said this? Is this a character trait? What kind?" With their help, I am going to
write the character trait on the chart.
My second "We do" example is on page 10 of The Rainbow Fish. The author says, "Now he was the
loneliest fish in the sea." After I read this, I am going to stop reading and ask the students, "What
just happened? Why did the other fish leave Rainbow Fish? How did you think that made Rainbow
Fish feel? Is this a character trait? What kind?" Again, I am going to write the character trait on the

Norman Reedus Character Traits
The Walking Dead on–screen drama might not have anything on what's allegedly happening behind
the scenes. According to new reports Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon on the show, is
causing some drama off–screen with his cast members.
Rumors are flying that the Walking Dead cast members may be at odds after actor Norman Reedus
not only pressured execs to hire his friend, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as Negan, but is also allegedly
pushing for more screen time for the character as well as his own character, Daryl Dixon.
"Norman is the fan favorite, and he's using that to his advantage with the writers. He was
instrumental in getting Jeffrey added to the show, and he wants next season to center around their
characters – and if that means zombies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although fans still have no idea who that person is, it seems that everyone is speculating about
whose death will be seen when Season 7 airs in October.
As many fans believe either Daryl or Glenn will be killed off the show, there are multiple
possibilities. Another popular theory is that the character of Abraham may have been killed.
Abraham had a very emotional episode during The Walking Dead Season 6 finale. Not only did he
make peace with his best friend, Eugene, and finally give him the respect he's earned, but he also
had some sweet moments with his girlfriend, Sasha. Abe and Sasha may be a new couple that fans
are still getting used to, but they're moving very quickly in their relationship, and already talking
about having what Glenn and Maggie have together.
Sadly, for fans, they'll have to wait six long months before any confirmation is given about who
Negan's victim really is. While everyone seems to have a theory, no one has a concrete answer, and
no matter which character is the one to die, Walking Dead fans will spend the season mourning the
heartbreaking death as they move on with the other

Carlotta Character Traits
Characterization:
Christine – This adaptation portrays Christine as ditzy, but not stupid. She has no idea that Raoul has
fallen in love with her and sees him only as a friend. She is pretty, naive, and nice (mostly, however,
very protective over her solos) which makes for a bad combination. She doesn't fully understand the
power she holds over the other characters. For example, if she had told Raoul to go away, he
probably would have. She really moves the story forward as it revolves around her actions and
reactions to events. Her overall motivation consists of furthering her singing career and finding love
with someone who allows her to have her freedom. The other characters like her and she has no

It draws the audience in through more moving songs, such as "Think of Me." The dialogue has an
overarching modern quality to it, as opposed to the more formal version in the stage and movie
adaptations. The main trio (Phantom, Christine, and Raoul) talk about going to Red Robin, as one
example. They also throw in modern allusions to literature and film (singing machine from Shrek),
as well as Christine using her phone during the roof scene. These changes make it easier for the
audience to connect and find humor within the story. Similar speech patterns follow the characters
throughout the story. Phantom commands and bosses the other characters, which fits his character
profile within the One Act. Raoul has a more scattered and foolish mind. Carlotta uses the most
unfamiliar words, such as ingenue, which denoted a young female character who has endearing
innocence or naivety (Christine). This also fits with her characterization as she has the most
experience of the characters in the world of theater and

Finding Nemo Character Traits
Finding Nemo Character Analysis
In many forms of entertainment that has a story to it, there are characters with complex and
confusing personalities and traits. This is what gives movies, books, videos, and other forms of
entertainment their base. These traits also cause people to become attached to a specific character or
group of characters. These traits, personalities, and qualities of characters aren't always thoroughly
explained as to why a character is this way. A character is formed from their drive, emotions, and for
the most part, their past experiences. Most characters aren't created to be a certain way, rather they
were made that way by things that have happened in their past, and how it affects them. There are
many examples of this throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way a character acts, due to their traits and characteristics, is what can really hook a person in,
and can lead a person to making a certain character their favorite. A character that sticks out to me is
Nemo, from Finding Nemo, a Disney movie. The ways that Nemo acts throughout the movie can be
traced to what has happened to him previously, and can be thoroughly explained and analyzed.
Some ways that Nemo acts throughout the movie can be described as brave, independent, and even
reckless. Starting with Nemo being described as brave, he really earns the characteristic. In the
movie, Nemo is alone for a lot of the time, and this is only a part of what makes Nemo extremely
courageous, especially for his age. In the film, Nemo is only 6 years old, and to be separated from
your only guardian and instead of giving up, be relentless to find them, is extremely daring in
anybodys eyes. In a physiological study of parent–child separation, it's said that their strongest
emotional bonds are when the child is still developing. This development is anywhere between the
ages of 3 to 18. This means that Nemo was really being put to the test when he was separated from
his father at the age of 6. You can tell that Nemo has

June Iparis Character Traits
The book Legend by Marie Lu contains plenty of different character. There is June Iparis, a fifteen

he goes by Day. He is a fifteen year–old boy who lives on the streets of Los Angeles. Day is a

Throughout the book, June continuously questions the Republic, while Day is continuously trying to
take down the Republic. Therefore, the main conflict of this story is man v.s. society. However, in
this beginning of the trilogy, the conflict is not resolved. June and Day do manage to escape the
government's clutches, but once they escape, nothing has really changed. The Republic will continue
to run their plague experiments on the innocent people in poor sectors. The government will
continue to kill innocent people who learn the truth about them. All June and Day have done so far
is make life better for them. This impacts the characters positively. Knowing what the government
does to their people, at the end of the book, they start to seek the Patriots(a group of rebels who are
attempting to restore the United States)assistance in taking action against the Republic. The conflict
is proven when June is interrogating Day. Day states, "Oh, is that all you're worried about? A bunch
of renegade Trial takers who manage to escape their deaths(Loc 1866)?" This shows that
government has tested the plague on Day himself,(it is shown later in the book that the government
tests the plague on kids who had failed their trial)which demonstrates why he would be wanting to
take down the government. A song that compliments this conflict would be "White America" by
Eminem. This

First of all, In the video from The Moth, Aleeza kazmi demonstrates inspiring and resilient character

and she wanted to explain the people that color can not belong to people. In the speech Aleeza said
"I don't understand how can color belong to people?"Also she portrayed "I was able to stand up for
myself." Aleeza illustrated her point of view and her character trait really well by giving a wonderful

The Pigman Character Traits
The Pigman is a deep story with special characters. One of those characters is Lorraine Jensen, a
smart girl who lives with her single mom. She is a responsible and caring girl, and a perfect example
of the 40 Developmental Assets. These 40 Assets, created in 1990 by Search Institute, are
fundamental to the growth of adolescents into mature adults. Each character in The Pigman has
some of these Assets and lacks others. Lorraine may not have all of the Assets needed to be perfect,
but she has an amazing character. She has Integrity and positive Other Adult Relationships, but she
does not have Positive Peer Influence, which could greatly impact her future. Integrity is a very
important part of a child's development. Lorraine is a very honest girl and does everything with
Integrity. When John and Lorraine are at the zoo waiting for Mr. Pignati, they see an employee
feeding the sea lions, doing it by simply dumping it in the tank. "I mean, if you're going to feed sea
lions, you're not supposed to plop the food into the tank. You can tell by the expressions on their
faces that the sea lions are saying things like 'Don't dump the fish in!'" (Zindel 52). Lorraine shows

bad things. Her best friends John is very bad about lying, going far enough to sometimes believe his
own fabrications. "I looked at John's face and began to realize it was he who had started me telling
all these prevarications," (Zindel 25). Sometimes John's dishonesty rubs off on Lorraine, causing her

and is dishonest about it. This is obvious because he is charles, and charles did many bad things,
such as hitting the teacher and bouncing on a little girl's head, and then makes someone up and says
they did it. Another trait is that he is disrespectful to his parents. We know this because here, it says,
"Laurie regarded his father coldly. "I didn't learn nothing," he said," and his father also has to say to
him, "See here, young man." One more is that he is proud of what he did. We know this because

Divergent Character Traits
Four is the hero behind the scenes, he saved Tris on more than one occasion. In
Veronica Roth's, Divergent, Four is the most interesting character. He has four fears, and that is

He wants to have all the valued faction traits, so he gets a tattoo of all five factions.
Four's fears are heights, killing, confinement, and Marcus. Even though heights
seemingly terrify him he climbs the ferris wheel with Tris. He climbed as far as Tris did, and
didn't need any saving due to foolish actions caused by fear. In fact Tris is the one who needs

the Erudite's game changing serum takes effect and then the majority of Divergent in Dauntless
are eliminated.
Four is arguably the most important character, as the savior of Tris, the protagonist

but unless you want to wind up dead at the bottom of the chasm, you'll figure out how to hide it

Bethany Character Traits
Character Analysis for Bethany
In the literary work Twisted, Bethany Milbury is a riveting character. She possesses several
characteristics that make her a riveting character. One characteristic Bethany has is that she is
arrogant, she thinks highly of herself. This appears when she flirts with guys. Also, Bethany is a
popular girl at George Washington High. We observe this when Tyler describes Bethany. Lastly,
Bethany is a stunning person. The author views this when she is at the car wash while in a bikini.
First, Bethany is arrogant when flirting. In the novel it states, " Bethany smiled and blew at the
soapsuds in her hands so bubbles floated through the air and landed on his nose... Bethany threw
back her head and laughed." (Anderson 3) This shows Bethany being arrogant, and flauntly flirting.
She realizes she is beautiful and Tyler watches her closely. Another example is, "Bethany sucked
some frosting off her finger and moaned. The moan woke up my trouser snake." (Anderson 37) The
meaning of this is she was arrogantly flirting with Tyler, and he liked it. Based from the evidence

Kumalo Character Traits

  • 1. Kumalo Character Traits In the novel Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton, the traits portrayed by the main characters can be observed by their actions and their reactions to other characters as well as events in the plot of the story. Though fictional, these characters can resemble people in our lives. Stephen Kumalo, for example, exhibits many traits throughout that make him similar to my friend Emmett. He is a friend of mine that goes to another school. Both are humble, though Stephen is more naïve. Also, both have had outbursts of anger but immediately apologize for his actions and repent. Furthermore, both are virtuous, though Stephen is more virtuous than Emmett is. My friend's character traits can be compared to Stephen Kumalo through their character traits. One character trait they share is determination. Stephen persistently tries to reunite his family, going from town to town in search of his son and sister. Emmett is always doing things with his family or for his family. Stephen however, is more virtuous than Emmett is since he is a pastor and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this is on page 39 where Stephen reacts angrily to his wife's suggestion that their son will never come back, and although she protests, saying that Kumalo is hurting himself, he continues to deny her claim angrily. When he realizes that his words are wounding his wife, he calms down and reconciles himself to the inevitable. Emmett however, is slow to anger but takes a while to calm down after losing his temper. Both however, immediately apologize for their behavior and repent afterwards. Another difference between the two is how they act when they are angry. Stephen for example, acts cruelly on page 146 through 147 when Stephen is angered by her promiscuity and asks her if she would accept him as a lover and is later ashamed of his behavior. In comparison, Emmett may lash out or be frustrated when angry. Despite their temper, both are also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. John Henry Character Traits The story of John Henry is about a an African American who told the captain of the mines he could dig a deeper hole using only a steel hammer and his muscles, quicker and more efficiently than a steam drill. This story took place in West Virginia, where they made these holes to put explosives in. After that they would blast the rock to make room for the railroads. John Henry's heart gave out from stress, although he worked hard and earned his place in history easily. Throughout this story, John Henry could be identified by as a static, the protagonist, and a flat character. This is because throughout the entire story, his personality stays the same. • 5. Auggie Pullman Character Traits Wonder is a book and a movie, it talks about this little boy named Auggie Pullman. After being homeschooled all of his elementary years, he has a rough first year in middle school. The kids in 5th grade are horrible to him and make him feel like he does not belong. Auggie has some strong traits in him that makes middle school enjoyable in his own way. Auggie Pullman is a young boy raised in North River Heights. Auggie has a rare medical facial deformity, and has had numerous surgeries. He is homeschooled by his parents for all of his elementary years but is now approaching the middle school ages. Auggie's parents decide to send him to Beecher Prep, a private school. He is going into 5th grade and is experiencing something he never has before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knew going into it that it would not be easy and that people would probably stare at him, but he wanted to try it out. He tried to make some friends who would not make fun of him and would accept him for who he was, it was hard but he did it. Auggie minded his own business and did not bother anyone else because he knew that nobody cared about him or wanted anything to do with him. Teachers did not always see what the students were doing to him, or hear what they would say to him he handled it all basically on his own, he heard what they said but would just shrug it off, and he felt what they did to him but he would just walk away and be strong through it all. Auggie would rarely tell his parents what was happening in school, and was independent through almost all of it. Jack is a boy in Auggie's class who is his his friend sometimes and sometimes is not. One day they are on a nature retreat and are being harassed by some 7th graders, they take it into their own hands and fight them off and run. After they return to the school Auggie is accepted by more people, including the bully Julian. After the kids realized he was a type of "normal" middle school was not so bad for Auggie. He was strong through all of this and kept to himself, he could have reacted and hit them or said mean things back but never did Auggie say a mean word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Robert Jordan Character Traits Throughout For Whom the Bell Tolls, one of Robert Jordan's defining character traits is his inability to remain in touch with his emotions while he is thinking about his work. After Jordan and Maria have sex for the second time, they excitedly converse about how happy they are and how much they love each other. After a while, however, Robert Jordan begins to zone out and eventually ignores her all together as he starts worrying about the upcoming bridge job. In this moment, Jordan cannot reconcile his love for Maria with his sense of duty towards his mission. He must compartmentalize the two differing roles. This deeply fragments Jordan's psyche, as he cannot unify both his heart (represented by his feelings towards Maria) with his mind (represented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He still believes in it and still deeply opposes fascism, but the idealism which he once had has disappeared. In its place, there is nothing but a void that his patriotism once filled. He views himself and all guerillas as merely cogs in a great machine. He cares about doing his duty, serving the cause, and nothing else –– not even whether he lives or dies. When Jordan briefly expresses concern for Anselmo's safety in the bridge operation, he quickly reprimands himself, saying "And that is not the way to think, he told himself, and there is not you, and there are no people that things must not happen to. Neither you nor this old man is anything. You are instruments to do your duty" (43). Yet by the end of the novel, Jordan grows beyond this state of listless existence, choosing to love Maria and Anselmo and the rest of the guerillas. As he contemplates the possibility of failure for his plan, Jordan remarks "He knew he himself was nothing, and he knew death was nothing. He knew that truly, as truly as he knew anything. In the last few days he had learned that he himself, with another person, could be everything" (393). Jordan lets himself worry over the fate of his new friends because he has learned that love is what makes life worth living. By the end of the novel, Jordan understands why people want to stay ... • 9. Rachel Character Traits To begin with, an individual who simply conforms to the roles that society bestows upon them will have an urge to follow these predetermined ideals, thoughts and way of life. Simply put, the individual desires to just 'get lost in the crowd.' The film illustrates Rachel as one who is full of guilt, sexual suppression, and a general passive character. These character traits are repetitive and keep emerging in Rachel. In the film, the following instance clearly demonstrates the average person as illustrated by Rachel. Rachel tends to her mother devotedly, prepares sandwiches on her mother's behalf for the company and retreats to her bedroom once she is done. She overhears the women in her group showering praises on her effectiveness and how difficult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Analyse Character Traits There are a few traits listed that I admire greatly among others, and would like to think that I hold myself or am working on perfecting those traits within my being. Three main ones would be Openness, Responsibility, and Empathy. People who are open minded tend to be the ones that are responsible for our ever so evolving world, standards, morals, ethics, society, and way of life as it is. This to me automatically makes them important and special, as the world and society would not be so advanced as we are today without these type of people. I feel these individuals are not so quick to speak, judge, and hold down others. If Christopher Columbus was not so exploratory due to his open minded thinking, then perhaps we would live in a world that continued to think the earth was simply flat. I personally feel that nothing is really so simple in this life, therefore, the same way of thinking, acting, reacting, fitting, living, preserving, remedying and so forth....all of this could not ... I think the world would be a more cruel and dark place without these individuals. It is my belief that these types of people have a lot to offer and much to teach others. When I come across people such as this, it is like taking a breath of fresh air after being under water for so long; it is not so common to meet someone like this...because they preserve honesty, not just towards others, but within themselves. • 13. Miss Brill Character Traits The short story Miss Brill, depicts a changing Paris women that is built of confidence and slowly slumps to a fearful figure. The life of Miss Brill is the same on a daily occasion, and she enjoys the idea of looking at life as a theatre. The story strikes a strong interest in me because of the innocence the old woman has that most individuals lose within there later childhood years. The woman has the courage to wear an article of fur that has always been a part of her wardrobe to show her own style, but does not wear the article of clothing to be belittled by other individuals. The main character and the protagonist of the story is Miss Brill. This character is an old woman that is both an observer and a charitable individual. Being a confident character in the beginning of the story allows Miss Brill to wear her fur in full confidence and portray a radiant glow while wearing the particular item. The older woman is able to inspect all the individuals at the park and enjoy the idea of eavesdropping. The woman is challenged when her eavesdropping is noticed and becomes a ... It helps elude to the loneliness that Miss Brill is experiencing in her older age. When she arrives home, she puts the fur away in the box and hears a reluctant cry. The cry is symbolic in showing that the women's fears from others is now becoming a form of bullying. A form that is strong in the sense of be harsh on others for the way they represent themselves. King Arthur and His Knights functions as one of the stories that provides many different personalities; a major trait portrayed in this story is the king's courage. Which dissapoints Mr.Pignati when he sees all of the broken pigs. On top of that one of the party guest ripped his deseased wife's dress, and bobo the monkey died. In my opinion Brian was a stud the principal would never have expected Brian to be the one carrying the pot for the criminal. Brian was really funny when he was smoking the pot he had a funny voice. The funniest thing about Brian was that he brought a flair gun to school and it went off in his locker. Brian wasn't really friends with the other characters in the movie. In the beginning of the movie Brian was kind of invisible, the other kids in detention hardly even noticed he was there. Brian treats everyone with respect he is very kind. He has a great amount of strength. Though Auggie is very self– conscience, but his other qualities help him overcome school issues. August also is a hilarious boy, which is a very good quality in a person. I respect Auggie because of his great qualities. August Pullman's Strength Auggie Pullman has some of the greatest strength I have ever seen/read. To quote the book Wonder, "Ever since I was little, the doctors told my parents that someday I'd need hearing aids." and "'Do I really have to wear this, Mom?' I said, trying not to cry. 'I hate them. They don't make any difference!'" This helps show strength from Auggie because he does not want to wear these hearing aids, worried that people would notice, and judge him, more than they already do, but he wears them anyway. Today we are going to read a book, called The Rainbow Fish, and do a really fun activity over character traits! Does anyone know what a character is? How about traits? So what do you think character traits are? (I am going to get out my anchor chart and refer to it.) In my own words, character traits are descriptive words or phrases that help us understand a character. Looking at what the character says, looks like, feels, and does can help us identify their character traits. Student Modeling ("We Do") and Guided Practice ("You Do") After I do the two examples, I am going to continue reading and ask the students if they could help me find character traits. I am going to do three "We Do" examples. My first "We Do" example is on page 8 of The Rainbow Fish. After a little fish asked Rainbow Fish for one of his scales, Rainbow Fish says, "'You want me to give you one of my special scales? Who do you think you are? Get away from me!'" After I read this, I am going to ask the students, "What just happened? Why do you think Rainbow Fish said this? Is this a character trait? What kind?" With their help, I am going to write the character trait on the chart. My second "We do" example is on page 10 of The Rainbow Fish. The author says, "Now he was the loneliest fish in the sea." After I read this, I am going to stop reading and ask the students, "What just happened? Why did the other fish leave Rainbow Fish? How did you think that made Rainbow Fish feel?
