This document discusses the status of the Kudmali language and the Kudmi community. Kudmali is the mother tongue of the Kudmi tribal community found across eastern India and neighboring countries. The objectives are to understand the current status of Kudmali and efforts to promote it. Census data from 2011 shows over 300,000 Kudmali speakers in India, mainly in Odisha, West Bengal, and Assam. Student enrollment data for Kudmali courses from 2015-2020 is also presented. The discussion notes that Kudmali is at risk of becoming a minority language and more efforts are needed to develop textbooks and introduce it in schools to promote the language. Various stakeholders including government agencies
