There are over 1 million aquatic animal species including 32,000 fish species as well as reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Aquatic plants have adapted to live in water and include algae, floating, submerged and emerged varieties. Common examples of each type are also provided.

Monitor indicators of genetic diversity from space using Earth Observation data
Genetic diversity within and among populations is essential for species persistence. While targets and indicators for genetic diversity are captured in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, assessing genetic diversity across many species at national and regional scales remains challenging. Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) need accessible tools for reliable and efficient monitoring at relevant scales. Here, we describe how Earth Observation satellites (EO) make essential contributions to enable, accelerate, and improve genetic diversity monitoring and preservation. Specifically, we introduce a workflow integrating EO into existing genetic diversity monitoring strategies and present a set of examples where EO data is or can be integrated to improve assessment, monitoring, and conservation. We describe how available EO data can be integrated in innovative ways to support calculation of the genetic diversity indicators of the GBF monitoring framework and to inform management and monitoring decisions, especially in areas with limited research infrastructure or access. We also describe novel, integrative approaches to improve the indicators that can be implemented with the coming generation of EO data, and new capabilities that will provide unprecedented detail to characterize the changes to Earth’s surface and their implications for biodiversity, on a global scale.

- 2. ECOSYSTEM WHAT IS ECOSYSTEM ? All plants , animals and human beings depend on their immediate surroundings . Often they are also interdependent on each other. This relation between the living organisms as well as the relation between the organisms and their surroundings form an ECOSYSTEM.
- 3. Main Types Of Ecosystem ` 1) FOREST ECOSYSTEM 2) GRASSLAND ECOSYSTEM 3) AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM 4) MOUNTAINS ECOSYSTEM 5) RAINFOREST ECOSYSTEM 6) DESERT ECOSYSTEM
- 7. BIOTIC FACTORS OF AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM BIOTIC FACTORS OF AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM means the living creatures in an aquatic ecosystem . Like all ecosystem , aquatic ecosystem have 5 biotic factors – PRODUCERS , CONSUMERS , DECOMPOSERS , HERBIVORES , CARNIVORES AND OMNIVORES . Biotic factors include animals , plants , fungi , bacteria .

- 15. ABOUT THE ANIMALS The animals living in aquatic ecosystem are called aquatic animals . The aquatic animals either breathe air or breathe with the oxygen dissolved in the water through GILLS or SKIN. The term MARINE is used to describe the animals that live in salt water i.e oceans and seas For example : SNAILS , SQUID AND MANY SPECIES OF FISH .
- 16. AQUATIC PLANTS Aquatic plants are the plants that have adapted themselves to live in AQUATIC environment . They are also referred as HYDROPHYTES or MACROPHYTES MACROPHYTES are the plants that grow in or near the water and produce oxygen and also act as a food for many fishes and wildlife . Aquatic plants can only grow in water or on soils that is frequently saturated with water.
- 17. SPECIES OF AQUATIC ANIMALS There are over 1 million species present in AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM . There are 32,000 species of fishes in aquatic ecosystem. The species include REPTILES,AMPHIBIANS and MAMMALS . Some examples are : GOLDFISH , BLOBFISH , NORTHERN PIKE .
- 18. SPECIES OF AQUATIC PLANTS There are mainly 4 types of aquatic plants . They are : ALGAE , FLOATING , SUBMERGED AND EMERGED PLANTS ALGAE are the most common type of aquatic plants . They are found in primarily in the oceans and they have no roots , stems or leaves . FLOATING plants are not attached to the water but they have roots which absorb water. They can be found in fresh or salt water .
- 19. Submerged plants are rooted to water floor and most of their vegetation is located underwater. The leaves of the plants are thin and narrow Emerged plants are rooted to the ground to the water but have most of their vegetation above water . These plants need constant exposure to sunlight .
