This study examined the effect of temperature and graphite content on the microstructure and density of iron-based powder metallurgy parts. Specimens were produced with graphite contents ranging from 0-10% and sintered at temperatures of 700, 850, and 1000°C. Microstructural analysis found that increasing graphite led to changes from ferrite to pearlite phases. Maximum density was found between 2-5% graphite content at 850°C. Higher temperatures and graphite levels produced white and gray cast iron microstructures on specimen surfaces.

. One of the methods used to surface hardening of ductile iron is chilled cast iron. Chill as the fast cooling rate in the mold during solidification and chill thickness greatly affects the thickness of the hardness layer. The main material used is ductile iron, and the chill material is SS 304. Casting uses the sand casting method. Before pouring, the chill plate has been inserted onto the surface of the pattern that has been formed in the mold, then the chill plate is preheated at 700OC. Pouring was carried out at a melting temperature of 1400OC, and then cooled with argon and O2 sprays into the mold in solidification conditions at exactly 700OC. The results analyzed were the microstructure, hardness value, and the hardness of the thickness layer. This chill coolant will absorb heat very quickly and the Cr and Ni alloy will diffuse to the specimen surface to stabilize the ferrite and austenite phases in the final solidification. The particles on the hard surface have Ferro carbide M7C3, which is in the form of cementite and martensitic phases so that to categorized as white cast iron structure formed on the surface with an area around 1.5-3mm has a hardness of 61-65HRC. But in the center area is 31-49HRC
Study on Influence of heat treatment on Tribological properties of mild steeldbpublications
A study was made on the effect of heat treatment upon the mild steel. Total six samples were prepared for each test (hardness test, tensile test, microstructure test and wear test) from those two was tested as received and rest four were subjected to different heat treatment that are annealing and normalizing (heated on a temperature of 850 degree Celsius). The hardness of all sample was measured by Rockwell hardness testing machine. Wear measurement was done on pin-on disc wear machine. Tensometer was used to find out the ultimate stress and strain of the sample. The result of tensile test showed that the strength is decreased by heat treating and the surface hardness is also decreased by heat treatment. Microstructure of the mild steel specimens shows the grain boundary of the particles and the content of % of carbon present. It justifies the experimental results of tensile test and hardness test. Surface Hardness is the measure of resistance that any material applies. As the specimen gets soft on treating the hardness also gets decreased. Tensile strength of any specimen is specified as how much stress the material can withstand before breaking. As the metal gets soft after heat treatment the load required for breaking goes on decreasing. Wear test is carried out to see the variation in wear measurement and coefficient of friction as the mesh size of paper are varied. More soft the surface of material is more wear is seen and vice-versa.

Gravity Sand Casting of Metallurgical Bonded Bimetallic Grinding Roll Made of...IJERA Editor
Bimetallic castings are widely used in the mining industries as construction material for crushers which have to perform high abrasive resistance at the outer side and excellent machinability at the inner side. To manufacture bimetallic casting goods cconsecutive centrifugal and gravity casting methods are commonly applied. Centrifugal and consecutive casting come up with geometrical constraints at the parting line of both materials. This research dealed with the manufacturing of tapered grinding roll by applying gravity casting method. The possibilities of casting the white cast iron outer ring in the preheated ductile cast iron of the inner ring were investigated. The inner ring was first heated up by casting liquid metal around the inner side, which prevented the inner ring from cracking due to rapid expansion during the casting process and to provide adequyate shrinkage of inner ring during solidification. After achieving the desired temperature of the inner ring, the liquid metal of white cast iron was then poured into the cavity to form the outer ring. The preheating temperature of the inner ring was mainly derived from the linear thermal expansion of both quasi isotrophic material and the diffusion at the parting line. This preheating temperature has to facilitate the formation of metallurgical bonding and avoid cracks due to the difference of shrinkage value between inner and outer ring. The preheating temperature was set up in the range of 500°C -1000 °C and the flushing time was fixed for 7 seconds. Studies on the microstructure of sample material have revealed a formation of metallurgical bonding at all of the preheating temperature. The width of the diffusion at the interface area varied between 291 µm at 500 oC preheating temperature, 301 µm at 625 oC, 834,8 µm at 750 °C, 909,1 µm at 875 °C and 1027,7 µm at 1000 °C. By preheating temperature of higher than 750°C fusion occured at the interface area between inner and outer material. This research concludes that the casting of bimetallic by applying gravity casting method can be done by preheating the inner ring to 625 oC, interface temperature of 1150 oC, flushing time of 7 seconds and pouring the white cast iron outer ring at the temperature of 1430 oC
Mechanical Properties Of Fibre Reinforced Concrete Subjected To Elevated Temp...IJARIDEA Journal
The impact of high temperature on the break property of solidified cements which are strengthened with steel and polypropylene filaments have been explored inside the extent of this review. Test comes about demonstrates that higher temperature brings about lessening quality in both the filaments however with a variety in the most extreme temperature. Steel fiber strengthened cement and polypropylene fiber fortified cement is a cementitious material fortified with a given substance of discrete strands. The better mechanical property makes these filaments critical in building development and has expanded use fundamentally in view of its vitality assimilation limit. The vitality required to haul out the strands from the broke cement is more than the vitality required to split the solid grid. Hence, the vitality ingestion limit is the primary material property profited by fiber fortifications. Be that as it may, this vitality retention property holds great just up to a specific temperature. This consider was examined the present work keeping in mind the end goal to evaluate the ideal temperature up to which the quality of the solid filaments would be most extreme.

Effect of Fly Ash Particles on the Mechanical Properties of Zn-22%Al Alloy vi...IOSR Journals
In the present investigation, a Zn-22%Al alloy is used as the matrix material and fly ash as the filler material. The composite is produced using powder metallurgy techniques. The fly ash is added in 2%, 4%, and 6% by wt% to the sintering metal. The composite is tested for hardness, density and tensile strength test. Microstructure examination is done using a high resolution optical microscope to obtain the distribution of fly ash in the Zn-Al matrix. Test results indicate that as fly ash content is increased, there is a considerable increase in hardness and tensile strength but decrease in density.

The application spectrum of low cost material reinforced metal matrix composites is growing rapidly in various
engineering fields due to their superior mechanical and thermal properties. In the present study it is proposed to
explore the possibilities of reinforcing aluminum alloys (AlSiC and Al6061) with locally available inexpensive
rice husk and fly ash for developing a new composite material. A sample of TiB2 also added to one sample to
get better phenomena’s in matrix composites. A rice husk and fly ash particles of 5, 10 and15% each by weight
are proposed to develop metal matrix composites using liquid metal processing route. Stir cast and in-situ
methods are used to prepare composites. Fabrication did by considering constant stirrer RPM. The fabricated
samples analyzed to study internal bonding applications and properties by using SEM and OM. Thermal
conductivity voltage constants also observed in microstructure analysis and flow of material also analyzed.
The present research work is on bronze alloy metal matrix composite reinforced with fly ash particulate in
weight percentage of 3%, 6% and 9%. The specimens can be produced by Liquid metallurgy technique (Stir casting
method) will be used to produce metal matrix composites using Aluminum Copper alloys as matrix material. The
produced composites will be characterized with respect to mechanical properties and wear properties. Results
obtained from the above investigation, it can be seen that the rate of wear is decreased with increasing bronze and
will be helpful for the end of users in the foundry of automobile and aerospace industries.
FRACTOGRAPHY OF CRYOGENIC CHILL CASTED ASTM A 494 M GRADE NICKEL ALLOY METAL ...IAEME Publication
ASTM A 494 M grade Ni–Garnet composites containing four different weight percentages 3%, 6%,9% and 12% of Garnet samples have been fabricated by using cryogenically cooled copper chill stir
casting method. Effects of volume percent of Garnet particles on tensile strength, and fracture surfacesof Nickel Garnet composites have been investigated. The highest tensile strength was achieved in the specimen containing 9 Wt. % garnet produced with 25 mm chill thickness which shows an increase of14% in comparison to the no chill cast reinforced alloy. Microscopic investigations of fracture surfacesrevealed that fracture in a brittle manner with little or no necking happening. By increasing garnetcontent and chill thickness, the composites fracture goes in a more severely brittle manner. The fracturebehavior of the composites was altered significantly by the presence of garnet particles and the crack
propagation through the matrix and the reinforcing particle clusters resulted in the final fracture.
Preparation and Investigation on Properties of Cryogenically Solidified Nano ...IJERA Editor
In the present work, AL-alloy containing 12% silicon (LM 13) matrix nano composites were fabricated in sand moulds by using copper end blocks of copper end chill thickness 10 &15 nm with cryogenic effect . The size of the reinforcement (NanoZro2) ranges from 50-80nm being added ranges from 3 to 15 wt % in steps of 3 wt % . Cryogenically solidified Nano Metal Matrix Composites were compressed by using hydraulic compression machine. Specimens were prepared according to ASTM standards and tested for their strength, hardness and fracture toughness. Micro structural studies of the fabricated Nano Composites indicate that there is uniform distributions of reinforcements in the matrix materials (LM 13). An increasing trend of hardness, UTS & fracture toughness has been observed. The best results have been obtained at 12 wt %. The results were further justified by comparing two copper end chill thickness 10 &15 mm. Finally the Volumetric Heat Capacity of the cryo-chill is identified as an important parameter which affects mechanical properties.
Experimental Study on High Performance Concrete by using Partial Replacement ...ijtsrd
The conventional concrete has lost its usage nowadays as it does not set out the present need. The term ‘High Performance’ is because of the essential usage, materials and proportions of this concrete are specifically chosen for properties such as high workability, high density and low permeability. The main objective of this study is to deal with the effects of cementitious materials in High Performance Concrete HPC for mix design of M40 grade concrete. Hence, copper slag which is the industrial by product is used as a partial replacement of fine aggregate by 0 , 15 , 30 , 45 , 60 and 75 with 20 of fly ash by the volume of cement with water cement ratio 0.36. Super plasticizer conplast SP430 is used as chemical admixture at the rate of 1.2 of cement which improves the workability. From this experimental study, so far the utilization of copper slag and fly ash observed with gradual improvement in mechanical properties such as compressive, split tensile and flexural strength in HPC. By evaluating the optimum percentage of copper slag, J. Grijasri | U. Karunya | A. Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Abstract
In this present work effect of temperature and graphite contents on the microstructural and mechanical
properties of iron based powder metallurgy freeform was studied. The different graphite contents (0%, 2%, 5%
and 10%) were mixed in iron powder and compact them in 100 KN. These specimens were sintered at 700⁰ C,
850⁰ C and 1000⁰ C in muffle furnaces. Microstructural properties were evaluated using scanning electron
microscopy. Experimental results were compared to determine to best combination of graphite and iron powder
preform. Maximum density was found between the range 2% to 5% graphite contents and temperature at 850⁰C.
At graphite contents increases from 0% to 2%, the microstructure of the iron-based powder sintered specimen
changes gradually from ferrite and a small amount of pearlite to pearlite, after 2% of graphite contents the
microstructure was found pearlite and ferrite. As graphite increase up to 5% gray cast iron structure and at 1000⁰
C temperature range white cast iron structure found on the surfaces.
Key word- Iron powder, graphite contents, microstructure and powder metallurgy.

Introduction
Powder compaction is a popular route for the
production of light engineering components such as
automotive parts. A common production process
consists of cold compaction in a closed-die or in an
isostatic press followed by sintering. Most of the
densification takes place in the cold compaction step
by rate-independent plasticity. Sintering of iron
powder with graphite, iron powder with copper and
graphite, iron powder with nickel and graphite, iron
powder with phosphorus, and iron powder with boron
was studied by Narasimhan (2001). Deng, X.

Carbon in small quantities is added to iron,
‘Steel’ is obtained. Since the influence of carbon on
mechanical properties of iron is much larger than
other alloying elements. The atomic diameter of
carbon is less than the interstices between iron atoms
and the carbon goes into solid solution of iron. As
carbon dissolves in the interstices, it distorts the
original crystal lattice of iron.
This mechanical distortion of crystal lattice
interferes with the external applied strain to the crystal
lattice, by mechanically blocking the dislocation of the
crystal lattices. In other words, they provide
mechanical strength. Obviously adding more and more
carbon to iron (up to solubility of iron) results in more
and more distortion of the crystal lattices and hence
provides increased mechanical strength. However,
solubility of more carbon influences negatively with
another important property of iron called the
‘ductility’ (ability of iron to undergo large plastic
deformation). The a-iron or ferrite is very soft and it
flows plastically. Hence we see that when more
carbon is added, enhanced mechanical strength is
obtained, but ductility is reduced. Increase in carbon
content is not the only way, and certainly not the
desirable way to get increased strength of steels. More

amount of carbon causes problems during the welding

strength and ductility of steel could be improved even
with low carbon content. The iron-carbon equilibrium

Microstructure Observation:
In this study, both temperature and graphite
content were considered as the effective factors on the
microstructure properties of the sintered specimen.
The specimens were produced at three sintering
temperatures, 700°C, 850°C and 1000°C, respectively,
and with four graphite contents, 0%, 2%, 5% and
10%, respectively. The polished and etched specimens
were examined by scanning electron microscopy
(SEM) and the magnification 10 to 40µm. The effects
of temperature and graphite content on the
microstructure of the iron-based powder sintered
products by metallographic analysis were shown

The microstructures of the sintered
specimens with the graphite content from 0% to 10%
were shown in above figures. It can be seen that as
the graphite content increases from 0% to 10%, the
microstructure of the iron-based powder sintered
specimen changes gradually from ferrite (white
microstructure) and a small amount of pearlite (black
and white lamellar microstructure) to pearlite and a
small amount of ferrite. A small amount of cementite
(Fe3C) also appeared in the microstructure when the

graphite content increased to 2%. It also can be seen
that the austenite grain size increases gradually when
the graphite content increases. This is mainly because
that the degree of superheat increases as the graphite
content increases when the sintering temperature is
constant, thus contributing to the growth of austenite
grain. In 5% cast iron formed in the sample flakes of
graphite formed above the surface, packs of austenite
increases as percentage of graphite increases. As
percentage increases 2 to 5 % Spheroidal structure

increases in images. Then graphite percentage
increases 5 to 10% white area increase for ever
temperature and packs of austenite escape in images,
there is clearly to main surface saw in the images

temperature increases the white region increases.
Comparing the microstructures of the
sintered specimens at 700°C to 1000°C from Image 1
Image 2 and Image 3, it can be concluded that with
the sintering temperature increasing, the micro
structures of the sintered interface become uniform.
This is mainly because of the formation of many
meshes of grain boundary and their interactions with
the interwoven pores. The excess vacancies at the
edge of the sintering neck and on the surface of
micro-pores are easy to pass the adjacent grain
boundary and diffuse or absorb. The higher the
sintering temperature, the greater the coefficient of

the atomic diffusion within the particle, and the faster
the sintering carried out. When temperature increases

Density:
Density of the specimen can be calculated
by
𝜌= 𝑚
𝑣
Where𝑚 , 𝑣 and 𝜌 is the mass, the volume and the
density of the sintered specimen, respectively then
𝜋𝑑 2 𝑙
𝑣= 4
Where d, l is diameter and length of the sintered
specimen, respectively.
