KIDNAP FOR RANSOM RESPONSE
Pro-Intell security solutions
• Kidnap for ransom is a growing crime in a
world made less stable by economic crises
and the resulting polarization of wealth
between the haves and the have-nots.
• Kidnappers target the wealthy or
apparently wealthy and employees of
local or international organizations. They
do not discriminate against gender, age or
social class.
Pro-Intell:
Pro-Intell provides global risk solutions including
kidnap prevention and kidnap response services.
Our response services take into account all the
factors surrounding a case and whilst no two cases
are the same, our experience and the continuity of
our Case Officers allows us to adapt to new
challenges.
The Team:
As an established response company with
experience in kidnap response, our team draws on
a broad spectrum of knowledge.
The background of our team members is varied
but includes: law enforcement; intelligence
agencies; military; legal and commercial security.
Pro-Intell is retained by several Insurance
companies to provide Kidnap for Ransom and
Extortion response services to its insured clients
on a world-wide basis.
Pro-Intell is on hand to deliver a
complete solution to managing kidnap
risk for both the individual and business
client.
In the event of a kidnapping, our response team is
available to provide expert support to determine
the most appropriate course of action to resolve
the situation.
Our exclusively retained team members have a
wealth of experience in high risk areas such as
Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
Complementing our response capability are a
number of other support functions. Our global
tracking and monitoring facility use satellite
tracking technology to monitor clients and their
assets while also providing 24-hour crisis hotlines,
providing information, monitor events around the
world in real time and provide alerts and up-to-
date analysis of key events as they happen.
What we do:
From the moment a client makes the first call to
report an incident, an Case manager will be
allocated to the case. Clients receive immediate
assistance and advice via telephone in the initial
phase of an incident. Our goal is to have a highly
qualified response consultant on-scene as soon as
possible after the initial alert has been received.
Our response team provide a full range of advice
and support to clients and families during
incidents. These include but are not limited to:
• Communications with involved parties
• Liaison with in-country law enforcement,
if appropriate
• Negotiation strategy
• The likely progression of events
Kidnap Prevention:
There is much that can be done to reduce the risk
of becoming a kidnap victim.
1. Know your surroundings
Seek advice from trusted locals or local police to
identify areas that are unsafe, and avoid passing
through these areas. Avoid walking alone in the
streets.
Kidnap Prevention:
2. Reduce your profile if you can
Avoid jewelry, expensive cars and accessories
which indicate wealth or identify you as a
foreigner or an employee of a well-known
company or organization.
Kidnap Prevention:
3. Avoid Routines:
Routines should be avoided where possible by
changing the times and routes between work and
home; you are at risk if your location can be
predicted. This practice should be carried out by
all people on the policy.
Kidnap Prevention:
4. Be vigilant when travelling
Your travel itineraries should be shared with as
few people as possible. Remain observant and be
aware of unusual activity. If you see suspicious or
unusual activity, seek out a well-populated location
where a kidnapping is unlikely to take place.
Kidnap Prevention:
5. Take extra precautions when away from
home
Do not open your hotel room door until you
confirm who is visiting you. Use the door- scope or
confirm with the concierge/front desk who the
visitor is.
Kidnap Prevention:
6. Make yourself as secure as possible
Ensure that your property is fitted with functioning
alarms. Carry a personal alarm and store
emergency numbers in your phone via speed-dial.
Using guards or armored vehicles are options
which may be appropriate.
