Innovation Projects typically:
• Have a duration of about 3 years
• Technology Readiness level (TRL) ≥ 4

14. Who?
Who can submit an innovation proposal?
• everybody:
• Formal partner
• Associate partner
• Project partner
• New partners; which you will become if you take part in a project
• If a project is approved, all participants become KIC
partner
• Depending on the yearly funding your partner status will
be determined

15. Submitting a proposal:
Evaluation and assessment Criteria (3 levels)
1. Admission Criteria
• Submissal before the deadline
• All sections of the KIC proposal template have to be completed
2. Eligibility Criteria; these have to be complied with!
• Clear goal to develop a product or service and bring this to market
• A commercializing party has to be involved from the beginning. Start-
up/SME/Multinational
• Consortium partners from at least two different countries
• Minimum 3, maximum 7 consortium partners
• The “topic” must match with one of the 6 roadmaps
3. Assessment Criteria
• 5 main criteria, per criterion a number of factors
• Total score weighted per factor

3 Fair: While the proposal address the criterion, there are significant weaknesses that would need corrections
4 Good: The proposal addresses the criterion well although some improvements are possible
5 Excellent: The proposal successfully addresses all relevant aspects of the criterion in question. Any shortcomings are minor

1. Inform KIC InnoEnergy about your intention to submit a proposal. KIC will help
you with the submission process, give feedback, answer questions, etc. etc..
2. Find relevant partners for your innovation project. KIC can help you with this!!
3. To find the right project partners; participate in our match making events
4. Contact us for further explanation of the criteria while writing your proposal and for
any “unclarity” there might be.
5. Write your plan with our template, including budget and planning!! Everything
has to be completed/filled out!!
6. Discuss your complete proposal with your partners and make sure all partners
agree to the plans and the complete proposal, then sign it!
7. Submit your proposal before the deadline, signed including all mandatory
attachments (earlier is usually better and gives better results)
