This document analyzes potential locations for urban farms and gardens as well as "Giving Walls" in order to establish food donations and connections for KGC. It discusses the benefits of urban farms/gardens in providing greenspace, food access, and food sovereignty. Location criteria include open space lots, vacant lots near BIPOC and queer communities. Next steps include obtaining vacant lot donations, contacting parties to incorporate gardens/farms into parks, and rallying volunteer support.

2. Giving Wall
“The art is the entry point. The hope or
takeaway is that private neighborhood
gardens, community gardens and school
gardens can link up and shift by experiencing
how food security can be achieved in
sustainable new ways through collaboration.
The gardens can become a network of
sharing resources and stages of growth such
as seed libraries,seedlings, microgreens, fully
grown and mother plants. Water conservation
and harvesting, sensors and clean energy,
data tracking and online global engagement
all are incorporated in The Giving Wall. The
goal is that it works for 100% of us 100% of

3. Urban Farms + Gardens
● Urban farms and gardens are beneficial in many ways:
○ Provide greenspace that cools local climates
○ Provide accessible produce in cities that are often food deserts
○ Improve food sovereignty
○ Etc.
● Building connections with local farms and gardens is an important part of
establishing consistent food donations to KGC.

San Francisco:
● KGC (along with Maggie and Taliq) are already working on connecting with local farms
and community gardens in Oakland, so I worked to extend into nearby San Francisco.

● Who do we contact to propose incorporating community gardens, farms and
Giving Walls to pre-established parks and green spaces?

● Do we have a contingency of people to act as volunteers to help maintain
these gardens and farms?
