Simple present tense is a tense that is used to state fact (facts),
habitual action (events that are repeated), general truth ,or present
(events that are happening at this time). The verb used in this
tense is the first form of the verb or verb 1.
Simple present tense adalah bentuk tense yang digunakan untuk
menyatakan fact (fakta), habitual action (kejadian yang
dilakukan berulang-ulang), general truth (kebenaran umum),
atau present (kejadian yang terjadi saat ini). Kata kerja yang
digunakan dalam tense ini adalah kata kerja bentuk pertama
atau verb 1.

Penggunaan Simple Present Tense
Simple present tense dapat digunakan dalam situasi berikut ini:
Menjelaskan Fakta atau Kebenaran Umum
Contoh :
• I live in Yogyakarta.
• Weh Island is in Sabang.
• Borobudur is one of the seven wonders of the world.
Menyatakan Sesuatu yang Dilakukan Berulang-ulang (Habitual Action)
Contoh:
• I visit my grandmother twice a month.
• He plays guitar every day.
• She does Yoga every morning.
Menyatakan Jadwal yang Sudah Ditetapkan
Contoh:
• The concert starts at seven.
• The presentation begins at ten.
• The flight takes off at nine.

Digunakan dengan Future Tense
Biasanya simple present tense digunakan bersamaan future
tense menggunakan kata hubung, seperti before, as soon as, after, until, dan
when
Contoh:
• I will tell my mom when she answers my call.
• They will go swimming after the rain stops.
• He will propose to his girlfriend as soon as she arrives home.
Digunakan dalam Kalimat Pengandaian (If Conditional) Type 1
Contoh:
• If I meet her, I will tell that I love her
• If you commit to achieve your goals, you will be successful
• If you gives me money, I will be happy
Materi simple present tense sebenarnya gampang dipelajari jika Anda paham
rumus grammar yang terkait. Simple present tense digunakan untuk
mengungkapkan fakta, kebiasaan yang sering dilakukan, suatu kegiatan
dengan jadwal yang sudah pasti, sering diikuti dengan future tense, dan juga
digunakan dalam conditional sentence type 1.

There are three types of simple present tense sentences :
 Affirmative
 Negative
 Interrogative
Each sentence becomes two,
a nominal sentence (a sentence that does not contain a verb or
uses only to be) and
a verbal sentence (a sentence containing a verb).

Simple Present Tense Affirmative
Formula :
S + Verb 1 + s/es + O/C (Verbal)
S + is, am, are + O/C (Nominal)
Example Sentence :
• She reads a novel every day.
• Joe Biden is the president of the United State.
• They play football every Saturday.

Simple Present Tense Negative
Formula :
S + don’t/doesn’t + Verb 1 + O/C (Verbal)
S + is, am, are + not + O/C (Nominal)
Example Sentence :
• She doesn’t read a novel everyday.
• Nadiem Makarim is not the Ministry of Health.
• They don't play basketball every Sunday.
Note: setelah kata don’t/doesn’t, kata kerja kembali ke bentuk
dasar atau tidak ditambahkan -s/es.

Simple Present Tense Interrogative
Formula :
Do/does + S + Verb 1 + O/C + ? (Verbal)
Is, am, are + S + O/C + ? (Nominal)
Example Sentence :
• Does she read a novel?
• Do they play Football every Saturday?
• Are you free today?
• Is Joe Biden the president of the United State of America?

Example Sentence Passive :
Active : Lia Maemun makes a strawberry cake.
Passive : A strawberry cake is made by Lia Maemun
Active : Rosinta writes a short story.
Passive : A short story is written by Rosinta
Active : Anita repairs the work immediately.
Passive : The work is repaired by her immediately.
