1. CAPro’s Activities’ at Kaloleni County (Coast Province) Date: 11th-12thAugust, 2011
1. INCEPTION MEETING
Inception meeting was held on 11 th August, 2011 at Kaloleni Women’s Hall. Participants were drawn from different institutions
namely; Provincial Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Social
Services, C.B.O.’s, and Women Group leaders. A total of 21 participants were involved.
2. FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSIONS (FGD)
FGD forum was held on 12 th, August, 2011. The total number of participants were 19, out of which 16 were farmers and 3,
agricultural extension officers.
From the forum discussions, it was evident that there were indicators of climate change in Kaloleni County. The drying up of
river Kombeni(See fig1) In Rabai Location, heat stress that affecting crop yields(fig 2),mortality due to consumption of the
poisonous cassava variety(Fig3), and the massive soil degradation caused by flush floods(fig4) and the difference in
microclimate in Jibana Location( fig5).
