Fellowship aims to create a modern support group model that addresses isolation and mental health issues. The organization would provide various types of in-person and online support groups across many topics. Fellowship recognizes that existing support groups are often outdated, stigmatized, and difficult to access. The vision is for Fellowship to offer accessible, welcoming communities both online and offline where members can openly discuss challenges, find empathy from others, and support one another in coping and personal growth.
Learning for Change Survey
The 2010 Learning for Change Survey was introduced to place an accent on organizational learning in ADB. The questionnaire featured ten positive statements depicting ideal levels of organizational competence across four pillars: (i) organization, (ii) people, (iii) knowledge, and (iv) technology. The perceptions of respondents were captured using a six-point Likert scale. The learning organization model is described in the publication titled Learning for Change in ADB.
Venture lab issues
The document discusses issues with recruiting board members for a class project. It notes the initial problems of being overwhelmed by the large class size, determining important search criteria, and sifting through a large volume of information. It was difficult to tell if some project teams were real world companies or fantasy ones made to attract people. There was also no non-disclosure agreement despite many project ideas being shared. The process of recruiting members was deemed too long, taking over a week from initial introduction to confirmation. This was considered too lengthy given that people have daily work responsibilities.

Becoming a PR Leader: The Art and Science of MentorshipPlank Center for Leadership in Public Relations
For young professionals, having a mentor is often encouraged and touted; however, knowing how to find and effectively engage in such relationships is not necessarily easy or intuitive. This panel draws on primary and secondary research funded by the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, the expertise of an employee engagement expert, and a public relations professional with experience in both corporate and agency settings to help attendees better understand and navigate mentoring relationships. Panelists will share both personal experiences and research insights derived from a survey of more than 400 millennial PR professionals; interviews with 50+ PR professionals and students across five countries; and a review of nearly 200 mentoring studies and articles. Specific topics include best organizational and interpersonal mentoring practices, mentoring’s role in growing diverse organizations and mentoring’s connection to leadership development.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
• Define what research tells us about mentorship’s value to PR practitioners in both the U.S. and abroad, and its link to PR leadership.
• Reflect on the different kinds of mentors (personal, academic, professional) and will learn about the importance of mentorship in growing diverse, inclusive workplaces.

An Analysis of the Learning Processes of Successful Entrepreneurs
Numerous studies show that small business and entrepreneurism are vital to the health of our nation’s economy. In fact, over the last decade, these types of ventures account for 70% of economic growth, 75% of new jobs, and represent 99% of all employers. However, there remains a high rate of failure in these ventures, with over 60% of them failing within 6 years. Studies show that one reason for this failure is that entrepreneurs fail to learn new knowledge/skills as their organizations grow.
Unfortunately, only a limited number of studies have been conducted to investigate the learning process of entrepreneurs. The purpose of this descriptive ethnography was twofold: (1) explore the learning and development challenges experienced by entrepreneurs in the various phases of organizational growth, and (2) explore how entrepreneurs recognize the need to learn and develop plans to address the challenges. Once learning and development challenges, along with corresponding knowledge and skills, are identified, then learning solutions can be developed and offered to help entrepreneurs acquire them.
This descriptive ethnography was conducted with nine entrepreneurs from Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. Results included primary themes of learning challenges and the knowledge/skills needed to overcome them. Means of recognizing the need to learn new knowledge/skills and learning tools to acquire them were identified. Finally, participants gave nine pieces of advice for fellow entrepreneurs.
This study resulted in 14 findings regarding entrepreneurial learning. Recommendations were provided for entrepreneurs, learning solution providers, and lending institutions. Several additional recommendations for future research emerged from this study, which are noted.
The Politics of Innovation
