This presentation is about Great spot on Jupiter. It covers facts of Jupiter, what is happening in Great Spot Region, facts of Great Spot and why it is necessary to know such facts. 5. Jupiter is a failed star
It failed basically due lack of mass that
formation of a star need though it is much
massive than Earth
Such case of failed star is known as Brown
Dwarf
Jupiter’s volume is 1,300 times the Earth
The Great Spot on Jupiter is actually a storm
which presence is recorded from 1600s
Diameter: 142,800 kms* Volume: 1.43 × 1015 kms*
*Values are retrieved from Universe Today
7. Sincewhenis
shrinking…!?
Once, the storm spanned 30 degrees
approximately 40,000 kms in
longitude (Orton, n. d.). Glen Orton
was working as the part of NASA’s
Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)
In 1970, as per observed by Voyager,
it stretched 23,336 kms
In 2014, as per observed by Hubble
Space Telescope, it was 16,496 kms
By last year, it just spanned 16,319
kms
All values are approximations, also image shown is fictional
8. What factors are involved…!
It actually lasted for so long as Jupiter is
entirely made of gases and no landforms
Claims were made that maybe because of
meteorites impact it is slowing down but that
is not possible as biggest asteroid (known as
Ceres) in the solar system is of just measuring
946 kms in diameter
Other claims were that it maybe because of
some gases or because of some gases getting
exhausted
But until now no claim are proved and
astronomers are still researching on it
10. Relevanceto
mypeers
It is necessary to
understand because if
unfortunately such
phenomenon occurs on our
planet, Earth, then we can
simulate the factors that
caused Red spot disappear
here as every planet’s
principles are similar.
To understand the history,
analyze it according to
present situation and
predicting the future
phenomenon's that will
take place
