Judgmental sampling is a non-probability sampling technique where the researcher uses their knowledge and judgment to carefully select each member of the sample based on their expected qualities, rather than random selection. It is most effective when few people in the population have the desired qualities and is preferred over other techniques when time is limited but the researcher is confident in their ability to choose a representative sample. While convenient and low-cost, judgmental sampling risks potential biases and does not allow calculating sampling errors.
