Amoeba obtains its nutrition by ingesting food particles through pseudopodia. It digests the food within its cell through cellular digestion in the food vacuoles. The nutrients are then absorbed into the cytoplasm through osmosis across the food vacuole membrane, a process called phagotrophic nutrition. Students learn about amoeba's nutrition through lecture, demonstration of diagrams, group discussion and questioning to develop their conceptual and procedural understanding.
